A perfect perch up in the trees, with and incredible view! Gail and her partner are wonderful hosts. The safari tent was clean and comfortable, too.
The view was great. We stayed in the tent on the hill It was such a stunning experience - I thoroughly enjoyed the tent on the hill. We heard the fish eagle's call the morning and in the evening.
The gas geyser did not work, either there was no gas or the water pressure was too low.
Peace, wind blowing through the pine trees at the tree top tent. Eagle's and Fish Eagle's 🦅 calls. Different birds. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Situated between 2 Well maintend lakes, hosting lots of species of birds. Steep walkpath up to the tent but plenty of fynbos alongside waljpath. Well located. A place for the ones that love and appreciate nature. The view from outside shower perfect. Gail was very friendly hostess and Frank very helpful.
Incredible view! Quiet and peaceful
Encountered a snake which was scary, but it's in Wilderness so it's nature
The sounds of the birds and the view are absolutely spectacular! Wonderful braai area.
The camp, your tent and place are place amazing 👏. Beautiful forest view out of nowhere, very quite and listening birds songs early on the morning. Will see you soon ❤️ Jackson and wife Khanya
Quaint rustic cottage, comfy bed, well-equipped kitchen. TV & Wifi- sometimes unstable but that's expected in the hills. The owner was very helpful and went out of her way to assist with certain matters. Thank you.
Some attention to detail is needed to upgrade the entire look & feel of the cottage.
The tent was located in between the trees with amazing views and only the sounds of nature.
I really liked the location of the tent up on the hill overseeing the whole estate. We had a very nice sunset and saw a lot of nice birds. Very nice place to be in nature and out of it for a bit.
The pillows are a bit thin.
Peaceful and the birds were amazing. Safe to walk.
Directions to the accommodation (due to the roadworks, not the host)
The view
Getting to the view. Definitely need to be at n high level of fitness to stay here
The way to the tent is a very nice an light hike of 3 minutes. The view from the platform where the tent is, is just amazing. The sunsets are amazing there und it is very quiet. It is just an amazing place if you like camping in the nature with a little more comfort and privatcy.
The landlord does not allow open fire, what was understanable in the dry woods. There could be a little more pressure on the waterline for the shower :-). We totally underestimated the wind on an elevated platform in the woods.
The place is about 150metre of walking and about 60metre high we did not stay at all,I asked the owner yo refund me ,but she refused, will never recommend this place to anyone
Walking to far and the difficulty is extreme, No proper walking trail
This is an amazing place to stay.relax.rewind and just to enyoy natures beauty❤️
Everything was perfect
It was a sheer joy: rest, peace, nature, privacy and comfort. The fact that there was almost no other human contact was a bonus. Thank you!
The toilet needs a little attention.
Booked the tent, it was clean with everything that I needed. We slept comfortable without any fear. Bathroom was neat as well as shower.
Nothing. I loved everything.
The view.
Very long hike up the hill to the tree tent platform. Tent is pretty old and because of damp weather it smelled unpleasant. Extremely basic facilities.
Generator start to running during night at 2 am. Awake the rest of the night. Unaceptable to have noisy generator so close to the guest house. Owner have to relocated the electrical back up system urgently.!
We loved the first few nights in the tent. So grounding w nature, yet we had all we needed to be comfy. The daily display by the Jackal Buzzards was so special. Walking on the property and exploring the nearby attractions was so lovely. The last few nights spent in the Chalet was a real treat, enjoying the smaller birds and having the specials passing through the garden. The fact that we could have our doggies there was such a bonus and the pool on warmer days was such a life saver. Gail, Boos and Thandi are just the best!
What a beautiful setting! Perfect for anyone wanting to get off the grid for a bit
Tranquil views out of this world a steep climb worth that secluded area and it was equipped with the necessities one needed to scale down. Safe and secure. Wind was awesome at night and the bird calls late and early morning. Pack light for this gem to visit as you going to feel it walking up to get that view. My 2nd time here and always coming back for more.... The eagles needed much quiet seroundings to observe them late afternoon.
Only needed two steak knives that's all.
Beautiful house in nature, so peaceful, wonderful hosts!
The road was difficult, but they had a lot of rain the previous week, so nothing the hosts could help for.
This location is absolutely stunning! The views from the balcony are incomparable. The tent is fitted with two single mattresses that are quite comfy. It had everything we needed for our 2-night stay. Although the place doesn't include wifi, it has great signal, so you're able to work and go online if needed (though up here you won't want to do anything except immerse yourself in the surroundings!) The eagle calls throughout the day was such a luxury to hear.
The shower pressure is quite low and it was difficult to get it to a good temperature. We either had scorching or cold. The steep climb is STEEP! It's quite a hike uphill so make sure you don't pack more than necessary. Though non of the two above would stop us from coming back again.
The peace and quiet
N/A
The location is more or less 1/2 way between Sedgefield and Wilderness which allows you access to either. It is also far enough away from the freeway to be quiet and restful.
Nothing.
What a magical experience! Such a beautiful little Chalet nestled in the bush. So isolated and far from civilization - we loved the privacy. You only hear nature and a ton of birds. It was such a cozy little place. I loved the visits from the birds and the fireplace in the evenings. More than enough wood for braais and the fireplace at night. Kind host and we just loved Thandi! Chalet was well equipt and we had absolutely everything we needed. We CANNOT wait to be back!
Nothing.
Everything - in the middle of nothing and nowhere - we will definitely go back - Loved every minute and loved Thandi ( the dog)
nothing
Beautiful setting . Quiet , tranquil environment. Clean cottage with all the amenities. Gail + Koos warm ,friendly , welcome Border collie Thandie, so adorable .
Wish we could have stayed longer + brought Cooper, our pavement special, Border collie , with us
This place is an absolute hidden gem! We stayed in the chalet that just feels like a holiday. Its basic. but has everything you need and the environment is unbeatably beautiful. We.spotted atleast 12 different kinds of birds from our doorstep. Theres a little patio thats perfect for just soaking in the beauty of the surroundings. Our hosts were so kind and helpful and provided lots of extra information about the area. We have a toddler and he LOVED the space. He played on the grass and walked through the trees and also enjoyed throwing a ball to the dog who lives on site. It was raining while we were there, but the braai area is equipped with everything you could need. When the rain stopped we enjoyed just sitting there and watching the wild life. The chalet has a fantastic shower, good wifi (not that you would want to look at a screen at all when you stay here) and we were pleasantly surprised that coffee and tea and sugar and milk was also provided. We only wish we could stay longer, but will be back soon.
There is about 5km of a dirt road leading to the property to be aware of, but its 100% worth it and actually also lots of fun if you have a sense of adventure. Wish we could stay longer.
The view was very beautiful.Waking up to the birds was something to hear.
The photos are not updated and the walk up is very steep and slippery. The toilet did not flush properly and the gas in the shower was leaking. On our second night the whole floor was moving from the wind and thus no proper sleep was in the cards for us.We did not feel safe at all and the floor only had vertical beams and no supporting beams(thus the moving) we only slept there for 2 nights and were grateful when the nights were over. The owner also had a no-care attitude when we informed her of the problems. In my opinion was this a waste of hard earned money.
I loved it! I had a solo "eat, pray, love" journey all by myself. It really centered myself and brought me back down to reality. I was bird watching every day, coloured in and just chilled.. Things I never do. But it's sooo peaceful there. Definitely does clear your mind. Making this a yearly mission.
Lovely, peaceful and quiet.
It was a stunning view over the seas and the forest. We loved the atmosphere there! Thandi visited us to say hello and it's such a cute dog. The sky is amazing at night.
Beware of the monkeys in the forests they came often to us. And there are big spiders but they aren't dangerous - it's Africa! And you're in the nature so notice that
Thank you Gail for your wonderful accommodation you provided. Our spot was like a nest in the trees and we so enjoyed the views, the calls of the eagles, the amazing nature all around us. We are so thankful that you went out of your way to make our stay amazing. Thank you also to Thandi for her beautiful gifts that she brought us on each visit. Thank you also to Frank for his super friendliness and for his help with our great trek, it was so appreciated.
That I didnt have binoculars to see all the beauty all around me.
The amazing view and quiet seroundings
A very peaceful stay to start our December holiday. A well equipped chalet with plenty of natural light. Lovey deck for morning coffee and rusks. Well positioned braai area under the trees. Use of the swimming pool area was a big plus and the kids loved Thandi’s (the dog) daily visits. Pleasant drive on gravel road along the vleis to Wilderness. Close to bird hides and hiking trails. We heard the eagle’s call most days of our stay.
Lovely location and good views, quiet but close enough to amenities
Cottages need some care/maintenance, but nothing that would spoil your stay
I liked the fact that it is peaceful. Tranquility at its best. The host was very friendly.
I didn't like the fact that I had to walk/hike before arriving at the tent.
location was amazing ! they were super helpful and supplied us will all our needs! the peace and quiet was what we needed so badly !
the walk up was a bit of a trek
The cottage and tent were heaven!!!!! A nice walk up to the tent,a beautiful pool and the place was just heaven on earth!!!
Loved everything, being in nature. The peace and quiet. The tent had everything we needed
Nothing, everything was perfect
Real camping atmosphere without luxury.
Nothing.
Fantastic location with beautiful views. Loved to be woken up by the call of the Fish Eagle
