Captain Ikaros

Antonis (the host and manager of the place) was very helpful and made our overall Ikarian experience unique. He was very keen to help us settle, and provided us with a list of things to check out. The property is very unique, and it combines sea and mountain view.

Wonderful setting, very charming garden, there is a very pleasant privative area just outside the room, large and very nice. Full discretion and quietness (we hardly saw the other guests)

The room was very dark, small, bathroom without window and not very pleasant, kitchenette hardly usable. The structure, although well done, is near an industrial site, and there is no sea view.

Merkeze yakın. Çok yeşil, güzel ve bakımlı bir bahçe. Odalar gayet temiz. Tesis yetkilisi Antony çok candandı ve her sorumuza hemen yanıt verdi. Adadaki gezilecek yerler, güzel plajlar ve festivaller hakkında bilgi verdi.

Sunulan olanaklar son derece sınırlı. Sadece bir su ısıtıcısı vardı. Odanın özelliklerinde çamaşır makinesi olduğu yazıyor ama maalesef yoktu. Çamaşır yıkamak istediğimizde bize para karşılığında temizlikçi hanımın evinde yıkayabileceği söylendi. Yedi gece kaldık ve en azından belirtilen olanakların olmaması kötü oldu. Fiyatı çok abartılıydı. Festival dönemi dışında daha ucuz olursa gidilebilir.

Bahçedeki biberiye harikaydı.

Ikeria adasının en arka noktasında her yere uzak, araba kiralamazsanız burada kalabilmeniz mümkün değil. Sadece oda hizmeti veriyor ve oda da sadece su var. Burayı kiralarken fotoğraflar sizi yanıltmasın her şey 1 odanın içinde yataklar ayrı bir odada değil. 4 arkadaş aynı odada birlikte kalmak zorunda kaldık. Yataklar aşırı rahatsız, odanın içinde saçma sapan objeler vardı. En önemlisi kule gibi tırmanarak odamıza vardık. Adanın bu tarafını tercih etmeyin, yollar inanılmaz virajlı ve dar Evdilos tarafında kalın.

Μείναμε σε ένα πρωτότυπο κατάλυμα, ένα προσεγμένα φτιαγμένο δεντρόσπιτο. Είναι μέρος ενός ευρύτερου συγκροτήματος καταλυμάτων, τα οποία είναι κτισμένα με φυσικά υλικά (γυαλί, ξύλο, πέτρα), σε μια μοναδική τοποθεσία, με μια υπέροχη πισίνα. Η κυρία που ασχολείται με την καθαριότητα ήταν πολύ ευγενική και μάς παρείχε διαρκώς ό,τι χρειαζόμαστε. Ο υπεύθυνος Αντώνης ήταν καταπληκτικός οικοδεσπότης, μάς βοήθησε σε όλες τις ανάγκες μας και έλυσε όλες τις απορίες μας.

Η μορφή του καταλύματος (δεντρόσπιτο σε δύο επίπεδα - μεζονέτα), περιορίζει την άνεση, μικραίνει τον ωφέλιμο χώρο και επηρεάζει την εργονομία. Σε αποζημιώνει, ωστόσο, η μοναδικότητα του να ζεις σε ένα κουκλίστικο σπιτάκι, μέσα στη φύση κυριολεκτικά, καθώς το δέντρο στο οποίο είναι κτισμένο, αναπνέει δίπλα σου!

Η τοποθεσία ήταν καταπληκτική ! Ο Αντώνης ο υπεύθυνος ήταν πάντα ευγενικός και πρόθυμος να μας εξυπηρετήσει .

Anthony was very informative, friendly and helpful. The place is lovely, rustic and peaceful. Although it is not far from the Port it is difficult to get to without transport. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Wat een prachtige locatie. Nieuwe beheerder Anthony was nog druk bezig alles op orde te krijgen. Joanna is de locale wijn expert en ze was de Captain Ikaros wijn aan het bottelen. We hadden de 3 persoons hut. Veel ruimte om buiten te zitten. Alles tip top in orde. Neem een taxi als je aankomt, met bagage is de weg niet zo fijn om te lopen, zonder gaat prima. Heerlijk weinig toeristisch. Een aanrader

Captain Ikaros is an excellent place to stay in Ikaria. Each room is totally unique, and they are thoughtfully created. It is authentic, peaceful, and I would recommend staying here to anyone who arrives to Ikaria. The staff is very friendly as well!

Great location and accommodations. Service was wonderful. We would definitely stay here again!

Le immagini pubblicate sul sito di booking, che presentano questo posto come un luogo ameno, sono esattamente l’opposto di quello che ho trovato. Gli spazi comuni presentano strutture fatiscenti, in stato di evidente degrado e apparente abbandono, con cantieri aperti e non attivi, attrezzi di lavoro tutto intorno e arredi vecchi e rotti. Un ambiente non decoroso e decisamente poco adatto alla presenza di ospiti paganti in vacanza di piacere. Un posto da evitare. Riguardo all’alloggio, il bungalow “tree house”, a parte il senso di vecchiume e scarsa igiene che comunicava a prima vista, ne rilevo una su tutte: su booking viene dichiarata un superficie di 30 mq, mentre nella realtà sarà forse a malapena di 10-12 mq. effettivi. Ma di questi 10-12 – attenzione! – l’ambiente “notte” sarà si e no di circa 3 mq, giusto lo spazio di un materasso, come si capisce anche dalla foto del sito stesso. Ambiente asfittico dove non c’è neanche la possibilità di stare in piedi. Siamo fuggiti.

Die gesamte Anlage ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Bei Ankunft war so gut wie kein Geschirr vorhanden, wurde auf Nachfrage umgehend geliefert.

Ναι μας άρεσε πολύ ήταν πολύ ευχάριστη η διαμονή μας και κανονικά θα έβαζα 4 αστέρια αλλά βάζω 5 γιατί ο Ανέστης ήταν πολύ εξυπηρετικός και κάνει πολύ level up όλο το κατάλυμα καθώς σε κάνει να αισθάνεσαι σαν σπίτι σου μπράβο στον ιδιοκτήτη που έχει επιλέξει αυτόν τον άνθρωπο ως εκπρόσωπο ! Μπράβο Ανεστη είσαι εκπληκτικός και πολύ καλός οικοδεσπότης άμα το βλέπεις αυτό !

La nostra camera (sofita loft) è caratteristica ed ha un bel terrazzo però il bagno non è minimamente all’altezza e la doccia è praticamente inutilizzabile. Prezzo per quattro persone decisamente alto

Loved that the tree house property was unique, had all the amenities to enjoy a quiet and relaxing stay with beautiful views of mountains and the sea. The host was wonderful providing a tour of the land and wine tasting from the vineyard.

Fantastic host and wonderfully unique stay

A very nice apartment off the beaten track of the capital, but very close to taverns, shops, the port and beaches. The apartment was quiet and located in a fairy-tale area full of greenery.

The kitchen was missing a lot of equipment. It is worth taking care of them in such a large kitchen. Pool didn't work.

They did not clean once during our seven day stay although we asked for it. They are supposed to clean every three days. This was unacceptable and ruined our whole experience. The windows were quite old while the furniture were new.

The place is beautiful, there are several houses on the property each unique in it's own way and with a sense of privacy. I stayed at the tree house, which is built around a tree, meaning you have a tree trunk inside of the house. It's a bit on the small side but very neat and well thought through space usage. Reminded me of being on a boat with the slight wood skweeky sounds.

The place is not very comfortable to reach by foot, coming back from town at night you share the road with cars and no sidewalk. Perfectly fine with a scooter or car. Other than that I had a bit of a clunky check-in experience, I will say in their defense that I came in the afternoon and I was the only guest on the property, but they did approve my arrival hour. There was no one to meet me when I arrived and I couldn't get hold of the owner over phone or message for about an hour.

Our entire group absolutely loved the outdoor area with the pool and sun beds. We enjoyed the weekend having such great accommodations.

The apartment sadly didn’t have any cutlery to use or a microwave to heat up leftovers.

I urge everyone considering booking a room here to reconsider. 1) ROOMS ARE NOT CLEANED DAILY I asked the cleaning lady as well as messaged the administrator through Booking to have our room cleaned. The cleaning lady told me they only do it every 3-4 days (I booked for seven nights). I pointed out it was the third day and she told me I booked an Airbnb so not to expect cleaning. I actually searched for hotels and this property was classified as such. They don't even freshen towels or provide sufficient toilet paper (my mom purchased toilet paper for her chalet the day after her room was done). During our stay there, the room was cleaned once, and that after a lot of hassle. 2) NO WASHING MACHINE Under amenities, and I have a screenshot of this, it's listed that the chalet has a washing machine. There isn't one in the unit and when we asked for it, we were told that the washing machine they have is for their own use. I specifically looked for a place with a washing machine. There are other discrepancies as well between amenities on site as listed on Booking and what's actually available (or working) in the rooms. 3) NO RECEPTION OR EASILY AVAILABLE STAFF Don't expect to find someone on the property during the day to assist you with any issues you may encounter. 4) COFFEE/BREAKFAST All places to purchase coffee or breakfast are a drive away. If you order through the hotel, it takes at least 45 minutes to get a coffee. We tried it. 5) WIFI Do not book if intending to work during your stay. I spent over six hours transferring 10 medium size files one night.

The service provided by the staff was excellent, the room we booked was spacious to host our family (two adult and three kids). The beds were super great as we noticed this is not so common in Greece. The garden is beautiful and you can pick all the Vega .tables and fruits for your own consumption. The swimming pool is large enough for a fresh dive

The route to the place is a bit tricky the first time. It is important that you follow the signs, leave the harbour left so towards the ‘city’

The place is quite unique. Lush garden with pathways and stone houses. The young host was very professional and efficient.

15 minutes walk from the village (going downhill is fine, but for the uphill we took a taxi).

On Ikarian Standards - this is probably a 5 star 😅 Pool, Celler, Quality investment into this place - giving you that nature experience yet good sleep! Anestis was Superman - tends to people and works on maintaining the place!

The only thing was - if you ever choose the tree house ( you’d have a great view) , it’s tight if you’re a heavy traveler (many bags) and if the Island gets windy (the tree does slightly shake ; not a life threat - just noisy! if you are a light sleeper go with the other apartments!

It’s in a large property full of trees and greenery. It has its own vegetable garden.

The room was virtually uninhabitable. It shouldn’t be available. It was literally a very low attic (most of the area was <170cm height) full of the owner’s junk (stuff like old suitcases/trunks and rusted chains) posing, I guess as antiques, up three flights of stairs on an extremely narrow twisting staircase. The property had one person trying to do everything, a very helpful amazing young man named Anestis. The owner was around but claimed “I’m also here on vacation” as soon as he saw us and took off.

We loved our room! It was adorable and so cozy and clean. Also very close to Agios Kyrikos. The staff was lovely and picked us up late from the port, which we so appreciated!

A very peaceful location, very quiet and absolutely gorgeous! The cabin was idyllic, very cute and perfect for a romantic vacation. The staff was very friendly, especially when we blundered on our first day, and locked ourselves out. Very comfy bed, and amazing bathroom.

While we didn't care much about this, it's important to acknowledge a few minor problems: - the TV wasn't working: it was unplugged, and when we plugged it in, it wouldn't work. We didn't care much, the island is not for sitting around and watching TV, but if you're planning on watching something late at night, check that it works beforehand; - electrical troubleshooting: because it's a cabin, I guess the electrics aren't super great, we had to turn off the boiler's safety in order to shower. Not exactly safe to have people playing with the electrical safeties; - Bugs galore! This we knew was gonna happen, so we prepared, didn't bother us that much, but if you're going, maybe make sure you buy a fly/mosquito repellant thingy, just for your peace of mind.

Isolated place in a olive grove

As the access to the structure is not signposted, it's almost impossible to find it. Our taxi driver had to be guided by phone by a member of the staff. Even at the entry gate and at the parking, you find no mention of "Captain Ikarus". We never found out whether there was a reception somewhere. The woman who showed us the room when we arrived at 6pm spoke only Greek (except a few sentences like "breakfast is between 9am and 11am") and tried to answer our questions thanks to a smartphone application. So we learned that a early breakfast (at 8.30 instead of 9am) was impossible, that a restaurant for dinner was in the center of Ayos Kirikos and could only be reached by taxi, that this ride would cost 14 EUR and that the taxi should be booked 1 day ahead. We found then a good restaurant for dinner at 15 min on foot by ourselves. The next morning, we went on foot to the ferry port (with our luggage) and had breakfast there, before the departure of our ferry at 9.30am. The accommodation was very idyllic, in the middle of trees. As the night was windy, the branches of these trees touched almost continously either the roof or the facade, often in a very loud manner, so that is was almost impossible to sleep. Each time when we awoke, we had the impression, that somebody else had entered the room.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom lovely appartment under the main building. It is very comfortable (AC, mosquito screens, washing machine, ...). Excellent bedding. The property is truly beautiful (olive, laurel, fig trees everywhere), extremely well kept, quiet and relaxing. The pool area is charming. The breakfast is very good with home made preserves and the hosts are nice.

One suggestion would be to provide some basic tableware (cutlery, plates, glasses and mugs) as well as a kettle and coffee machine. It would be a minor investment to bring the experience to the overall standard of the accommodation and surroundings. We felt a bit frustrated not being able to prepare a nice cup or tea/coffee or cook some light meal after a big day out exploring the island, especially as the kitchen is big but has no equipment at all except the fridge.

Ms Asimina, the caretaker, was very kind and helpful, and prepared a great bre.

Poorly equipped. Had to ask for bedside lamp! Very bad closet (not nailed to the wall and thus dangerous for the baby, no hangers nor shelves), we had it removed. Kitchen is not common as mentioned! Cold water at the shower
