Guesthouse Villa Vauban

A lovely spacious room with good facilities including kettle, coffee machine, table and chairs, fridge (with a selection of drinks included), TV, Bose sound system. The location couldn’t be much better just a few hundred metres from the Menin Gate - close to all the action but set in a quiet part of the city. The parking space was handy as you didn’t have to worry about finding a space when you were returning from a day out. Ria the host was super friendly and helpful offering lots of advice.

Geen Airco, maar dat wist ik toen ik boekte. Er was een ventilator ter beschikking en dat maakte dat we toch zeer goed geslapen hebben.

De locatie van de B&B was super. Op loopafstand van alles. Het ontbijt was voortreffelijk. Veel variatie, heel verzorgd. Gratis parking en het veilig plaatsen van onze fietsen was een heel groot pluspunt. Maar vooral de gastvrijheid van de eigenaars!

Ria is a wonderful host making us feel very welcome and at home. Good size rooms with en suite bathrooms. The breakfast was amazing and a good choice of food. Our coeliac friend was also catered for. The accommodation is a few minutes walk from town and the Menin Gate. Lots of good places to eat but would definitely recommend Mary's Irish Bar. Thank you so much Ria for our wonderful stay!

Ideal location just beyond the Menin Gate, spacious room with a fridge, and electric bike hire available from the host. Our hosts were very welcoming and couldn't have done more for us. The day's cycling was both easy and very interesting - we followed the "Peace Route" which was extremely well waymarked on cycle tracks or very quiet side roads, and at 40kms included visits to Tyne Cot memorial, the German war cemetery and Hill 60. Not to be missed and the bikes very good. We chose not to have breakfast preferring to try out local cafes.

only 200 mtrs from the Menin gate I was there specifically to attend the last post ceremony at 8 pm at the man and gate. The accommodation was in the perfect spot and only 400 m from restaurants and bars. It was the perfect spot.

Ria is a great host, very welcoming and friendly. The property is well equipped and has parking. The location could not be better, it is a five minute walk to the Menin Gate.

Ria & Lorenzo hebben een hele mooie B&B en hun gastvrijheid en vriendelijkheid is Top! Wij hadden beide kamers geboekt. De kamers waren netjes, schoon, smaakvol en gezellig ingericht en zeer ruim. Het ontbijt was fantastisch met ruime keuze en heerlijk vers. De auto kan bij de B&B geparkeerd worden. De Menenpoort is op een paar minuten lopen en met nog een paar minuten lopen sta je op de Grote Markt waar allerlei restaurants zijn en waar zich het In Flanders Fields Museum en het Yper Museum bevinden. Als we weer die kant opgaan dan verblijven we hier zeker weer. Een echte aanrader!

This is a superb b and b with everything top quality .A really lovely breakfast and a perfect location for exploring Ypres . As a base for following a battlefield tour it has everything. Beautiful place to stay in a peaceful area and within 5 minutes walk of the Menin Gate and town square. Only 2 rooms, both spacious with everything you need. The owners are lovely and speak good English. Our motorbikes were safe on the driveway as there is CCTV coverage plus there's very little passing traffic.

Alles was perfect

Ria and Renzo were charming hosts in their beautiful house, ably assisted by their feline counterparts Victor and Stella. Superb location only a couple of minutes walk away from the city but quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was a highlight of the day. Off-road parking available with separate entrance to the spacious and well-appointed guest accommodation.

Amazing super central location BUT quiet! Superb, super organised friendly hosts. Room is a large size with everything you could need - coffee machine, kettle, small fridge with some complimentary water and beers. Comfortable seating also. Car parking on front of property. We only booked on the morning of arrival and so hosts sent us videos of where to park and how to enter property etc. Breakfast lovely with juice, fruit, yoghurt, croissant, baguette, egg, ham, cheese etc.

Great location close to Menin Gate and other WW1 sites. Ria was a fantastic host: friendly and helpful (even helped with sorting a minor car issue!). Delicious breakfasts served on terrace. Electric bikes for rent!

A beautiful apartment in a lovely location, only five minutes walk along the canal to the Menin Gate. A sleek clean modern apartment with a comfortable bed and good shower.

Unfortunately we missed Ria's great hospitality and breakfast as she was away, but we were still made welcome by her sister-in-law, who helped answer all our needs.

Lovely stay in a beautiful guest house in a terrific location with gracious hosts. Excellent breakfast in front of the fireplace. Couldn’t ask for more. Truly exceptional!

Beautiful property right near to the Menin gate. The room is beautifully decorated, with a comfortable bed, armchair. The en suite shower room is spotless. It’s upstairs above a large outbuilding with double aspect windows over the beautiful garden. Large parking space on the cobbled driveway right outside the door.

The location is fantastic. A few mins walk from the MeninPoort and the centre but also easy enough access to major roads to tour the many sites surrounding Ypres

Liked everything. Ria & Lorenzo are such welcoming and friendly hosts, suggesting things to do in and around Ieper. The room was great, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious. The house itself is in a quiet location, but is a very easy walk into Ieper, just a couple of minutes to the Menen gate.

The hostess made us very welcoming. She and her husband got us fresh bread for breakfast which was delicious served in a beautiful dining room. One of the best places I have ever stayed in. The rooms were tastefully decorated , well equipped . Also although the place is close to the Menin Gate , it was very quiet and we were able to get a very restful sleep.

Extractor in the bathroom is a little loud and took us a while to work out where the noise was coming from.

There were no negatives

First impressions of this BnB were very good as we were greeted by Ria (the owner) who makes you feel welcome as soon as you meet her, as does her husband Lorenzo. We were offered a drink and a chat as soon as we arrived and sat with her in her lovely garden. The bedroom was spacious, with a seating area, tea and coffee making facilities and it was spotlessly clean and had everything you could want including a little minibar with free drinks that were replenished daily. Breakfast was extra (15 euros each) but it was so worth it as it was delicious, with tea, coffee, fruit juice, bread croissants, eggs, fresh fruit , yogurt etc. it set us up for the day. Ria really does go out of her to make your stay as lovely as possible and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The BnB is just a short walk from the Menin Gate in a very quiet residential area. The added bonus is that there is free off road parking on site. This is probably one of the nicest BnB we have stayed at and we would definitely stay here again when we visit Ypres.

Everything. Our hosts, Ria and Lorenzo, were exceedingly friendly, helpful and kind. Location could not be better as was every aspect of Villa Vauban. Hopefully, we will stay again when the Menin Gate is reopened.

Fantastic accommodation. Lovely private room with own entrance just off the main house. Parking on site. Room was so comfortable and overlooked the rear of the property. Very comfortable and very clean. Breakfast is served in the main house and is just sublime. Perfect hosts who take pride in their home and guests and just make your stay perfect. It’s a 5 minute walk into the beautiful historic Ieper. Some very good restaurants.

Everything thing is nice about this B & B, it's in a wonderful location, with parking and it's a short walk to the centre of town. And the hosts are fantastic!

Everything was excellent: Very friendly staff, perfect location for exploring Ieper and surroundings and a good and comfortable room. And breakfast was first-class. Best recommendations from my side.

The situation is fantastic for walking into town and to the Menin Gate. The room was lovely with everything you could need and the property is full of character. Unfortunately we had to leave early due to illness but our hosts were really lovely about it. We will definitely go back.

Ria and Lorenzo were very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble, they were very helpful with directions and information. There was a good selection of Breakfast and nice quality food and was in a lovely setting , it was very homely.

Everything from the welcome, the hospitality, the sense of arriving safely after a long drive to clean, quiet, beautiful accommodation. we appreciated the extra touches - complimentary drinks in the fridge, information about where to eat and go. Breakfast was gorgeous and well worth it - fresh and lots of variety. It's the perfect location, four minutes walk to the Menin Gate on the quiet side. The photos do not do this lovely guesthouse justice - you really have to go there.

We hadn't appreciate that they didn't take electronic payment - our fault as we were on the road when that email arrived so hadn't picked it up. 100% our fault. We loved that Ria offered the loan of her bike to go to the bank! I'd advise anyone planning to stay there to get the relevant banking apps as I'm sure other guesthouses have the same arrangement.

The Guesthouse was perfectly positioned and so central to all the facilities in Ypres. Just a quick walk to the nightly Menin Gate nightly Last Post Service, to the cafes, restaurants and beer halls. Ria and Lorenzo were absolutely perfect hosts, so welcoming and inviting, and they have a truly magnificent home. We will definitely be returning in the future.

The only think I didn’t like was having to say Good Bye, we loved the place.

Excellent facilities and ideal location for walking into Ypers (5 mins to Menen gate). Ria's attention to detail is exceptional, there was even European adapters in the room. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. There was more than enough to eat for breakfast, enough to set you up for the day. We will deffinately stay here again.

Location was excellent just a few mins walk into town. The house and the hosts are very very nice and having just returned to England it really shows just how the quality of everything abroad is just so much better. All facilities are great and we will definitely be back when we get the opportunity and want to explore ypres a lot more on a second visit.
