Hopefield Guesthouse-Addo

We had a wonderful stay at Hopefield. The property is beautiful, peaceful and very well maintained, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. We were celebrating my daughter’s 12th birthday, and our host, Winston, surprised her with a complimentary birthday cake and drinks, such a thoughtful and special touch that we truly appreciated. The hospitality was warm, breakfast was lovely, and the whole experience made our family weekend even more memorable. We would happily stay here again.

Winston and the staff were exceptional. The guesthouse gardens are beautiful and it has great energies. Being surrounded by a citrus orchard on our way out Winston gave us two local oranges to enjoy on our journey.

We got back from a night safari and wanted to have a shower and a bubble bath. There was hardly any hot water. I was really looking forward to a relaxing bath.

Breakfast a more than adequate start to the day

Delicious breakfast, Nicky and Winston were warm and welcoming. The property is beautiful. Nicky suggested Schotia Game Drive and arranged it for us, that was a real treat!

Man fühlte sich sehr sicher. Das Anwesen war wunderschön. Unser Highlight war das Frühstück. Der Gastgeber war äusserst freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Wir waren Ende Juli da. In den Zimmern war es etwas kalt.

Shower wasn’t great

Great Place, not easy to find. Cold in fall and winter. Awesome breakfast. Great staff. We only stayed one night.

Great location, gorgeous grounds, brilliant hospitality. They packed us early lunch for Addo and managed to make a vegan one too. We only really saw it at night as we came in late and left early, so cannot comment on anything else but we are sure it would have been lovely too.

Het team van Hopefield zorgt ervoor dat het je aan niks ontbreekt. De accommodatie was schoon en verzorgd en er stond iedere ochtend een lekker ontbijt voor ons klaar. Winston gaf aanbevelingen mbt leuke restaurantjes in de buurt, regelde een game drive én gaf zelfs een korte rondleiding over de plantage. We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad van twee nachten.

Wellicht een idee om een klein tafeltje tussen de ligstoelen bij het zwembad te plaatsen waar je wat spulletjes op kwijt kunt. (Boek/fles/zonnebrand)

Fijne ruime kamer met bad en douche, apart toilet. Prima ontbijt met warm keuzemenu inclusief. Tuin is mooi, ruim en goed onderhouden. Zwembad is netjes en schoon. Hopefield ligt een beetje afgelegen, maar binnen 10-15 minuten zijn er wel restaurantjes te vinden. Je kan hier prima 's avonds rijden, let wel op dat de straten niet verlicht zijn. Addo National Park is 20 minuten rijden, dus helemaal goed. Grote SPAR supermarkt op 15 minuten.

Wasserij is best aan de prijs.

Prachtige tuin, comfortabele kamer. Heerlijk ontbijt en zeer vriendelijke gastheer. We hebben 1 avond een braai (BBQ) gehad, ook erg leuk en lekker. Hij had goede tips voor restaurants in de buurt.

Super nettes Personal. Winston hat uns sehr nett empfangen und bei der Reservierung im Restaurant ausgeholfen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt! Auch die Außenanlagen und das Frühstück auf der Terasse waren sehr schön!

Absolutely stunning lodge. Great food and Winston & team were a dream. Nothing was too big or small. Rooms gorgeous and pool was fantastic. Close to Addo (about 20 mins).

Rezeption sehr früh am Abend geschlossen

Winston was one of the best hosts we ever had. The rest of the staff was also super friendly and helpfull. Besides this the garden and pool were very beautifull and we felt safe during our stay. The breakfast was also very nice.

The room was dated and not the cleanest. Besides the ac was very old and it seems to have molt.

Winston ist der freundlichste Gastgeber. Herausragend nett und hilfsbereit. Der Garten und die Pool Anlage sind auch sehr schön. Die Unterkunft ist auch sehr nah am Nationalpark also für einen Besuch von Addo perfekt.

Die Lichter und die Einrichtung waren für unseren Geschmack etwas kalt.

Großzügige, ländlich gelegene Anlage beim Addo-Nationalpark. Wunderschöner Garten, sauberer Pool, nettes Personal, gutes Frühstück. Wie alle Unterkünfte ca. 15 Minuten Fahrzeit zum Elefanten-Highlight-Park Südafrikas. Also Auto (auch für Restaurantbesuche) notwendig.

Die schöne Anlage, der super Service und die familiäre Atmosphäre. Winston ist ein überragender Manger, der uns sehr herzlich willkommen geheißen hat!

De tuin zag er prachtig en verzorgd uit, evenals het ontbijtgedeelte, de managers Connie en Winston hebben ons verblijf ook heerlijk gemaakt en ons goed geholpen bij alles.

De omgeving is geweldig voor het doen van safaris op meerdere plekken! Maar, voor de afwisseling was er weinig anders leuks te doen in de buurt. Daarnaast vonden wij het rijden 's Avonds in het donker niet zo prettig omdat de straten nergens verlicht waren. (Restaurants echter wel binnen circa 10min te berijden)

На территории находиться прекрасная зона отдыха с бассейном и великолепным садом, обслуживание на высочайшем уровне, завтраки вкусные. Приехав в отель по вечер, на следующее утро мы столкнулись в проблемой. На нашем микроавтобусе колесо было на ободах, а вокруг нет городов, только town cheap. Пока ездили на сафари, колесо было отремонтировано за 2500 рублей, управляющий решил вопрос оперативно. Очень располагающий персонал, обслуживание на высочайшем уровне.

Een prachtig verblijf in Oudtshoorn met enorm gastvrije eigenaren. Errol en Venita maken dit verblijf speciaal door hun gastvrijheid en mooie verhalen. En leuk ook om beetje zuid Afrikaans - Nederlands met elkaar te spreken😀

Die Lage der Unterkunft zum Addo Nationalpark ist super. Man hat eine schnelle Anbindung zum Main Gate. Die Unterkunft ist ebenfalls sehr idyllisch innerhalb von Zitrusplantagen gelegen. Wunderschön ist auch der weitläufige Garten mit tollen Pflanzen und einem schönen Pool. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und auch das Frühstück war sehr gut.

Die Zimmer an sich sind ordentlich, allerdings war das Schlafsofa extrem unbequem. Die Klimaanlage war leider auch sehr ungünstig direkt über dem Bett angebracht so dass man diese Nachts nicht wirklich nutzen konnte. Die Hocker vor den Betten könnten auch mal wieder eine Reinigung vertragen. Alles nicht dramatisch, aber Potenzial für Verbesserungsbedarf.

Winston, the chief of staff, was a show. He really seems to love his job and took great care of us during the entire stay. We felt warmly welcomed from the first second. The Guesthouse itself with its grounds is incredibly beautiful. The rooms are spacious and clean. It is absolutely secure and very close to restaurants, shops and of course the Addo Elephant Park.

Babybedje was fijn. Prima kamer. Goede douche, prima ontbijt met cappuccino (tegen kleine betaling), honest bar, gratis parkeren. Arnold was een geweldige gastheer. De omgeving is groot en goed onderhouden. 20 minuten rijden naar de ingang van Addo

Ondanks dat het echt prachtig onderhouden is miste we toch gezelligheid bij het zwembad. Er staan ligbedjes maar bv. geen parasols of een klein tafeltje waardoor het zwembad in de grote tuin wegvalt. Maar dit is maar een klein detail.

Not one complaint we have. Perfect bed, large room, lots of possibilities for breakfast, great garden, safe, and a super friendly staff who do very well in making feel the guest welcome. Tip for other guests for dinner: go to Molo Lolo, a place where they train ever so friendly and enthousiastic young men and women in the hospitality combined with a good kitchen in a very nice place.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at this beautiful guesthouse and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. From the moment we arrived, Winston welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home right away. The location is perfect, especially for visiting Addo Elephant National Park. It’s ideally situated for early morning game drives while still offering a quiet and relaxing environment. What made our stay especially memorable was Winston’s kindness and helpfulness. He was always available, gave great local recommendations, and made sure everything was perfect for us. We will definitely be coming back if we can and can wholeheartedly recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking for a warm and welcoming place to stay. Thank you for everything, Winston!

The property is beautifully located between citrus trees with a very well maintained large garden. Staff are very friendly and helpful. You get to choose from different options (Eggs Benedict, Banana bread…) plus a buffet for breakfast. There is a pool which can be used and lounge chairs to relax on after a day of exploring Addo. It is very close to the main gate of the park.

We were in one of the rooms in the separate building close to the garden, so we cannot speak for the rooms that are within the main building. During our stay there was a problem with the pluming and brown water was coming out of the pipes during several times of the day. When we came home after a night time Safari all soaked and dirty, we were not able to take a shower afterwards, so that was a bit of an issue for us. Since you are close to the garden and there are no mosquito nets attached to the windows and doors there were insects of all sorts coming in. The open shower is nice, but because of it the room was always very moist and there was no way of really letting fresh air in due to the lack of mosquito nets.

Adoramos ficar por lá, a equipe é muito prestativa, com destaque para o Winston que me ajudou com um problema no carro alugado (muito, muito obrigado) além de dicas de passeio pelo parque Addo e fez um churrasco muito bom. A piscina é ótima e os quartos confortáveis. O café da manhã é excelente e o local é lindo.

The room did not have a stove, a table inside , a iron , an ironing board etc, the room had hotel vibes , we did not prepare for that so it was a bit irritating but the place was great so we made things work and overlooked that

Great accommodation in the Addo area. The staff is super friendly and the rooms are surrounded by a beautiful garden.

We had a wonderful stay at Hopefield! The garden is beautiful and Winston is an incredibly kind and attentive host. He helped us with booking activities and gave us great recommendations for restaurants. There is also an honesty fridge with cold drinks always available. Breakfast is freshly prepared every morning by the lovely ladies. If we ever visit Addo again, we would definitely stay here again!

Eine wunderbare, ruhige Unterkunft zum Abschalten und Entspannen. Winston war extrem herzlich und hat uns mit vielen wertvollen Tipps zur Umgebung und zur Safari im Addo Elephant National Park versorgt. Das Essen war sehr lecker, der Service aufmerksam und freundlich – man fühlt sich sofort willkommen und wie zu Hause. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Connie and Winston were amazing from when we first booked until we checked out. Hopefield is a fabulous b&b, beautiful rooms, gardens and relaxing areas. They booked our Addo and Schotia game drives for us and what an incredible day we had!. Breakfast was fab, all freshly cooked to order. Honestly I can't recommend this place enough.

The garden and surroundings are beautiful. The duty manager was friendly and responsive. The bed was comfortable. Location is close to Addo Elephant Park.

We drove past the property because it seems like the only B&B that does not have a sign on the main road. The shower drain was not working properly leaving us with a huge puddle whilst in the shower. There was also a problem with the water pump, which resulted in us not having water at times. The price per night is rather high for this level of a 4 star accommodation, since we paid less for a 5 star country estate the night before which had excellent rooms and facilities. Unfortunately they were fully booked for an extension.

The guesthouse is very well maintained and offers everything you need. Our room is very spacious and has a small terrace overlooking the garden. The breakfast left nothing to be desired. It is a pleasantly quiet place where you also have the opportunity to chat with the staff or other guests in a relaxed atmosphere. Winston is a great host and the staff are incredibly friendly.

Sehr gut am Addo gelegen, schönes Zimmer und schöne Gartenanlage.

Schönes Zimmer mit Platz und guter Ausstattung, bequemem Bett und sauberem Badezimmer! Zudem eine sehr schönes, großes und top gepflegtes Anwesen mit einem Boul-Platz, Pool und der Möglichkeit ein Cricketspiel auszubauen. Winston und sein Team sind super freundlich und aufmerksam und helfen gerne weiter bei Fragen, Touren und Co. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und von dort den Addo Elephant Park besucht (Main Gate ca. 20 Minuten Fahrzeit). Ergänzende Info für die Buchungsentscheidung: die Auswahl an Restaurants in der Nähe ist begrenzt und man benötigt ein Auto um dorthin zu kommen. Winston unterstützt gerne, falls eine Reservierung erforderlich ist und informiert über Restaurants in der Umgebung u. a. mit einem sympathischen Begrüßungsschreiben auf dem Zimmer. Raucherinfo: Nichtraucherzimmer, aber auf dem Gelände ist Rauchen erlaubt (Rücksicht auf andere Gäste versteht sich von selbst ;))

It’s a very charming place from the gate to the actual room. It’s a nice sneak away into nature. The staff are extraordinarily friendly and helpful.
