Settled in a beautiful location in munnar in and amongst the tea plantations, felt very peaceful. Silvy was lovely, very helpful and she cooked us great food!

Our stay at Blackcherry was wonderful. The location is special, in front both of a tea plantation and of the valley with its forest. The room was new, basic but really clean and with this amazing windows on the outside. An incredible view! Breakfast was also amazing, as the availability and warmth of the host and the whole family. We did the tea plantation and waterfall tour suggested and we found it very worthy; we walked alone in a beautiful route in the plantations with the host explaining everything to us and bringing us lunch, with no crowds. Highly recommended.

Now this was great peaceful place, with amazing hospitality. With views like this you could spend the whole just relaxing with book. Or go on one of Sylvies tea tour she is very knowledgeable about the area. She is also gives market tour with cooking class, her food is amazing and boy she loves to feed you. Her family are very helpful aswell and friendly, helping carrying your bags down and up the track to taxi, tut tut area.(they even organised transport) This is hidden gem.
Just be wary of the track to and from the house.
The location
The food the comfort rooms was to small
Sylvia is lovely and good company The room was clean today and comfortable
The day tour was v poor, 2800inr for a tuctuc ride to a garden centre and some roads pretty much. Honestly I left after three days feeling maybe Munnar isn't really worth visiting Advice for alternative trekking options etc absent, even felt deliberately misleading to make me do more of their own tours Massage recommendation poor Kitchen was dirty and insanely unhygienic Patio does not look like photo , covered in dirt and building materials stacked up Laundry overpriced Not hot shower
The best thing about Blackcherry is the hosts. Sylvi, Babu and their family are incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming. We loved staying here and spending time with them. The food was also amazing, Sylvi is a wonderful chef, as were the tours. The house itself is comfortable and clean in a great location with a lovely outdoor terrace.
Nothing!
Do yourself a favour and stay at this wonderful property! Sylvie, Babu and their sons are all friendly, kind and genuine people who go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. Sylvie is working hard to ensure that her guests have a great experience. They helped carry my suitcase to and from the main road which was very appreciated! Sylvie's food is sensational and the portions are large - you will not be hungry. Mealtimes create a good opportunity to meet the other travellers staying at the property. There isn't really food options within walking distance, but Sylvie is able to cook tasty lunch and dinner options for a reasonable price. I loved the cooking class Sylvie ran, and did her tours through the tea estates and Munnar town which I also recommend. The scenery around the property is green, peaceful, relaxing and at times you are surrounded by clouds.
This was not an issue for me but as others have said, the access from the main road to the property is not easy if you have mobility issues as there are stairs and the path is uneven. The ONLY way to get to property is walking. It is not possible for any vehicle including car, tuk tuk or motorbike to reach the property fully.
Sylvia and her family were exceptional. Their knowledge of the area and the history was wonderful. Cooking class is a must do! Highly recommend this property.
Nothing. Very disappointed.
Don't go to this place. If you want to buy something, you also have to trek for 1 km. No parking facility. Costly food. No clean rooms. Not like the photo they upload. Try to avoid them. More reptiles you can see in that spot. Literally not safe. This is a homestay but they are charging like a 5 star hotel. Even they don't have a kettle. Risky trekking to that homestay. Think before you go. They will say you only have a 200 meter Trek but it's 1 km.

Very good family, food and location. It’s an experience and expedition
Kind family with amazing food and ambience
So much fun walking to stay amongst the tea bushes on the hills, with cows browsing them!
De superaardige mensen. Ik voelde mij bij hen helemaal thuis.
Eigenlijk alleen de vochtige geur in de kamer
We had an amazing stay at Blackcherry Homestay. The host family were so accommodating and really made us feel welcome in their home. The room was nice and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We had really delicious meals and enjoyed a cooking class that was very informative - we are looking forward to trying out our new skills when we get home! Would absolutely recommend a stay at Blackcherry with the wonderful hosts Silvy, Babu and their sons!
LOCATION WAS GOOD, food was good
This place is beautiful and peaceful, we really enjoyed staying here. The family running this homestay is also very relaxed, they are kind people. Sìlvy cooks amazing food, you really have to try it, it's delicious and she serves generous portions. Totally recommended to stay here if you like peace, nature and good vibes.
Very bad Service ! Low class Bad words .. extra charge then booking .com . Blackmail amount collection at last time using difficult situation. Don't belive .don't booking .very bad ...worst cheating . No words to Clear bad service ... Waste of money
Money waste . Bad service ! Bad Behaviour ! Only Head ache and Soul pain only take home by this booking ... Cheating money also
Homely experience and hostess going out of the way to keep your stay comfortable
Nothing in particular
The location is stunning, silvy and her family were the most warm and welcoming people I have encountered in a long time. the food is excellent, especially the coconut chicken curry and fish curry. silvy makes you feel at home right away with her kind smile and expansive life experiences. Conversations with her enlightening and humorous. 100/10 recommend to everyone who like to travel for curiosity and unexpected connections
The location is quite hard to get if you are not fit but worth the effort as you have an amazing view. Living in the middle of a serene forest. Food was good but little expensive compare to local places but again it is homemade food so this is not a problem. Silvy cooks really good and also gives some tours of you have no idea about the places. But we dint take any as I knew to to go around and knew what exactly I wanted to do. She also helped us to get a taxi in the last minute as uber doesn't work there. Later got to know that uber pick ups are not allowed in that area as it is cheaper.. They also helped us to carry our bags.
We had booked 2 rooms. One was amazing and the other one was quite old and dark which needs some improvements. Late dinner time as she managed everything alone. Hope she gets some help she is looking for.
Absolutely wonderful view from the bedrooms and from the property in general. The hose Silvy was very nice and helpful, asking us if we needed anything. Food was also great. The walk upto the homestay can be tough for older people with knee issues and ailments, but I enjoyed the little hike :)
The view and home cooked meal
The ambience and the hospitality
Property double booked me and even though I booked a month in advance they did 't contact me until a week before my visit. Then they wanted me to cancel my booking rather than doing it themselves, because it was a bit more effort for them. All this was communicated on WhatsApp rather tha. through Booking.com
The location and views from the patio are absolutely marvellous. Silvy and her lovely family were the perfect hosts, they were friendly, catered for all our needs and shared their local knowledge of the area.
Nothing at all. The only comment we would make is that there is a 200 metre walk to the property down some steps which may make the property inaccessible for some relatively immobile people. This wasn’t a difficulty for us, indeed it made the location more appealing. Silvy always discusses this situation with potential customers in advance.
Very satisfied with the homestay facilities, wonderful hospitality and the warmth all around. recommend that those who can use the slightly stiff 200 mtrs climb can always use this splendid homestay. A 3 star hotel feeling with a comfortable budget. Great experience of a homestay.
The 200 mtrs hill climb up or down to reach the homestay
Silvy and her family were wonderful, so warm, helpful and friendly. Silvy was very warm and hospitable and her meals were lovely. We had a cooking class with her which was great and the price very reasonable. Great views of the tea plantations and beautiful scenery.
We loved our stay here, Silvie was so kind and gave us delicious Keralan Fish curry and breakfast and delicious pineapple juice. The views were amazing and our bedroom and bathroom both clean and very nice. We had a wonderful stay - also a lovely place to sit and watch the hills from.

The best food we had in India! Lovely hosts and great location too
The food, host and available activities
Location is fantastic with great views. The host is very welcoming and the whole family made us feel very looked after
If you are not able to cope with steep steps and uneven ground it’s difficult to get to but definitely worth the walk if you are able.
Location was good. The owner is very friendly and sweet. The food was great. Homily experience. A must visit place for family fun.
There is no safe parking facility I am a motor Bike rider and I keep traveling all over India. So I really got upset when I parked my bike about 500 meters from the property as advised by the property because there is no road access to the property. The next day morning someone robbed my horn and cut the wires. It was the Denali SoundBomb company horn which I paid Rs 7,500 because I mainly use it for highways rides so I had installed a good quality one. Since I stayed for 2 days the owner was sweet and arranged parking for me at a friend's house nearby the property for the second day. Please note. The owners are very sweet people. This was an unfortunate theft for me as a customer.
The location of this homestay is absolutely beautiful. From the main road, the walk to the house is quite steep, but the view on the way there and from the homestay is breathtaking. The pictures don't quite do it justice. The food prepared by the host was quite decent and priced fairly, which is good because there aren't many alternative dining out options around. The view from my room was extremely nice. The bathroom facilities are basic.
Unfortunately, I also experienced the host to be intrusive, pressuring and well...very business oriented. - Already before my arrival I was inundated with pictures of possible activities, among those the Tea Plantations "Trekking", priced at IND 3000 (unsure if per tour or per person). Other travellers warned me that it was not worth it and I could easily do it on my own by renting a scooter....So, when the host asked if I wanted to do the tour, I politely declined saying that I had alternative plans, but was pressured into accepting, because she (the host) was not available on the second day of my stay...The tour definitely featured definitely some stunning views, but unfortunately it was not a "trek" but a long tuktuk ride, where we stopped at different stations. Yes, it was "all-inclusive" including lunch, the tuktuk, and tickets to a waterfall (not of interest to be honest), but I regreted seeing that private operators offer tea plantation tours INCLUDING visits of a plantation and factory for IND 1000. - There was also pressure to eat at the house, which granted makes sense due to the lack of alternatives at the location, but there was definitely an expectation and pressure to eat at the house. The food was OK. - Beware of accepting anything offered to you, it is NOT free. The host goes out of her way to offer you tea, lassis, pineapple juice (very delicious), but all of it will be on the final bill. I was even charged for the tea I was "offered" upon arrival. I didnt even want any tea, but only accepted it to be polite, so I thought it was quite rude to charge me for it. Also charged extra when I took a second tea at breakfast. I was even WOKEN UP during a nap to be asked if I wanted some pineapple juice ($$ for host), so goodbye privacy and autonomy. - The host also seemed to have a problem with me travelling alone (I accidentally indicated two people).
Incredible stay here- stunning views of the plantation and a very clean room. Unbelievably good cooking from Sylvie and babU was delightful (as were her kids). It really felt like a village stay, with neighbours coming up to the property to chat. Loved it
Only small thing is there isn’t hot water coming from the shower, but it comes from the tap/bucket which was fine as it was warm anyway!
This homestay was honestly the best one I’ve ever been to! The location is beautiful, surrounded by a tea plantation with amazing Mountain views!⛰️🌳 The room was really clean and a good size. The host Sylvie is an absolutely incredible cook! She made us some lunch when we arrived and we ate all our meals with her as the food was too good! And she never let us go hungry giving us extra portions🥰 She is a lovely host and did our washing and booked our Ayurvedic treatment for us. She couldn’t have been more accommodating and made us feel so welcome in her home.✨ Overall amazing homestay and highly recommend! We will be back for sure❤️
Nothing.
The property is in a stunning location facing the rolling hills and many tea terraces. The family are very friendly and work hard to ensure your stay is the best. All meals are excellent and very filling. Breakfast was included but for a small, reasonable fee you can have lunch and dinner too. The host arranges trips and I went on tour with the host around tea plantation, spice plantations and waterfalls. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable and lovely and cool at night. Whilst there is a little walk from the drop off point to the accommodation, the host will stay in touch with you and meet you when you arrive to carry your luggage and walk with you to the accommodation. They will also call a taxi for you to go to the bus station for just 200 rupees. A beautiful stay and would thoroughly recommend.
Nothing
The property is well located in terms of access but it is not as remote as shown in the photos. The host is great and very accessible and wants to make sure you are fed and comfortable.
The photos are from a while ago and the property and room could use some maintenance. The property seemed more isolated but it has neighbors and dogs barking and such. This is a very involved home stay and the host expects you to eat most meals here. The power goes out frequently and the wifi is not great.
Très bon accueil, magnifique emplacement, nous recommandons !
It is simple clean and exactly what we wanted for our trip.
A beautiful homestay situated among a tea plantation, with a beautiful terrace commanding fantastic views across the luscious green hillsides. The welcoming experience from Sylvia and her family was exceptionally good, so I felt calm and at ease from the moment of arrival. The food was very good, particularly the butter chicken and mango lassie, and the family are very attentive and obliging hosts! Its also a great location; a short hike to the local waterfall opens up to accessible tea plantations and breathtaking scenery, and Munnar (useful for connecting public transport), is only a short tuk-tuk ride up the road. I wouldn't hesitate to return, and thank you for a lovely stay!!
Loved it all!
Niente
I stayed here for 3 nights and it was perfect. The views are amazing and it’s in such a lovely local area! I can’t comment on the food / activities much ( except for a delicious Kerala lassi made by Sylvie! ) as the family had a bereavement when I arrived and so they all had to leave. They explained they couldn’t cook for us but we were welcome to stay and they would leave us water and send someone each night to ensure we were safe. It was no problem at all! Sylvie was always available by text and kept checking on us. The family are amazing. Her son walked me to the bus stop at 6am and waited with me to get my bus. They are all very kind and helpful and I wish I could have spent more time with them! The location is perfect as it’s out of the busy town but so easy to catch a bus from the main road! There is also a beautiful walk nearby, it takes maybe 30 minutes through tea plantations ( on a well paved road ) to get to a waterfall / tea shop! I’d highly reccomend this place!
Nothing :)
Like Home 🥰🙏
Alles gut
Everything was perfect ! The view from the room is stunning, Silvy and her husband are amazing host, very kind and friendly people. Silvy dedicates her whole life to make us all happy. I was only there for 2 nights, which is very short but I still managed to do a tea plantation tour with her, we also saw a tea cardamon factory and swam in a waterfall. She knows very well her region and will explain everything there is to know about the surroundings. I also did a cooking class with her (she did all the cooking of course) but it was very nice to see how she makes the fish curry. Finally the last morning I did a sunrise hike on my own and I have to say that the homestay is really well located to do that 15km walk without getting lost.
Sylvie is a very dedicated and helpful person. She and her husband were always ready to let us visit the area. She also organizes indian cooking workshops where we could initiate our-self preparing south Indian meals. Munnar is a great experience and doing this as of Blacksherry homestay is something I recommend to every traveler looking for close contact with local tradition and people.
the location of the homestay is incorrect on Booking.com, this leaded us in a difficult situation. Despite that the price is fair, the fact of having to pay for an extra blancket is not really best practice;
Our stay was wonderful! The hospitality from Silvy Aunty, her husband, and their two sons was exceptional, and the homemade food was delicious. Thank you to the entire family for a lovely time!
Sylvie made us wonderful food according to our needs. Showed us around on amazing day trips. The accommodation was very nice and wow the view.
The room was quite cold but for sleeping but that can be solved with an extra blanket.
Loved everything from the view, the hospitality, the amazing food and the warmness of the homestay owners. Will surely come back and recommend everyone to book their stay here for one hell of an experience with Silvi aunty and her family. The lip smacking food was a cherry on top.
The homestay is located in an exceptionally beautiful, quiet location and the owners are very nice and helpful. Silvie prepared delicious meals for us. We loved the atmosphere and the care.
A room without a view is a little darker and less cosy.
The location and the host family.
No power backup.
The family is so friendly and caring! They will make your experience very enjoyable!
Food was good and the service is fantastic. Location is nice and little far from the parking area but they came to pick us and help us as well, all together 5 out of 5
Thank you Sìlvy and Babu for the wonderful time, food and sightseeing! We will come again!
Very good atmosphere with excellent service neat and clean room

Our family of four recently stayed at a charming homestay in Munnar, and the hospitality we received was truly heartwarming. The host family Babu sir, Sylvia Ma'm and their two sons welcomed us with such warmth and genuine smiles that we instantly felt at home. Their kind gestures and heartfelt conversations added a personal touch to our stay. The aroma and taste of the food—especially the parotta with beef curry, pineapple juice, puttu with kadala curry, chicken gravy, chapathi with dal, chicken rice & beef rice and more—were simply irresistible and deliciously memorable. Every meal was a feast of flavors, served with care and love. It was difficult to say goodbye after such a delightful experience.
Our stay at the Blackcherry homestay has been really memorable because of the excellent host, mrs. silvy and her family. The food cooked by her was delicious. We appreciate the variation in the menu. She also took us out for sight seeing activity, which a great experience.
The access path leading to the homestay is a bit difficult involving climbing down through narrow hilly muddy steps from the main road. But we got help from the host family in carrying the luggage.
It was in a good location. We are in the middle of the nature. Those who live in city and in a busy life its a good place for relaxation.
Make a good road to home. It could be more easy to access.
Breathtaking mountain views dotted with tea fields. Delicious food, prepared by the owner herself -- the flavors are authentic, you eat as much you can. The family running Blackcherry Munnar are very warm, helpful and open people. They also offer many additional attractions -- just express your desire and you will surely find something for yourself. We took advantage of the cooking lessons and also a one-day, fully organized trip that the hostess took us on, thanks to which we had the opportunity to see several secret gems in the area. An amazing experience, we recommend this place to anyone visiting Munnar! We hope to come back there someday. :)
