Reviewed Sep 9, 2026The accommodation was walking distance to the main town and the Quay. The breakfast was a table service but has a good selection of food. Very friendly host. The house was shared with the host, and her family. Which was great especially when problem arises with other guest in the next room.
There was no bar fridge in the room to keep your food. The sound of the shower heater makes a humming noise that disturbs the other guest. This is very common with shower heating unit, and the host cannot do anything about it. The host should provide a little note warning guest regarding the noise.

We had a beautiful room, a comfortable bed, an amazing offering for breakfast, and a gracious host (George)! As far as customer service and warm hospitality, they are the gold standard in our book!

George was great with local recommendations and breakfast was amazing. We enjoyed great conversation with both in keepers We will be back if we visit again

Reviewed Sep 5, 2026Most important the wonderful hostess! Super friendly and very efficient. The location is 10 minutes into town walking. There is a kettle with tea and coffee with a couple of cookies. Private bathroom. Bed and pillows comfortable. A fan in wardrobe which we used to circulate the air at night as we didn’t open a window as it was raining Great breakfast with choices. Irish, waffles or Bircher along with toast. Highly recommend to stay at Sli na Mara

Their breakfast selection was delicious and they had allergen-friendly options. The neighborhood is quiet, yet it’s a super easy walk to town. We listened to trad music at the Crane, a local fave. // The plumbing seemed to be a bit sensitive, but with some forethought, it was still plenty functional. We’d highly recommend!

Reviewed Aug 29, 2026Die sehr ruhige Lage zwischen Zentrum, Westend und Strand ist super um alles zu Fuß zu erreichen. Bridie und ihr Mann sind herzliche, fantastische Gastgeber in einem schönen, gepflegten B&B.
Das Bett hätte breiter sein dürfen, aber das Thema muss man halt vorher klären, wenn es einem wichtig ist.

Das Frühstück selbst war gut: Es wurde frisch (auch irisches Frühstück) nach Wunsch zubereitet. Die Wohnung liegt zudem zentrumsnah, sodass man das Auto nicht mehr braucht.

Bridie and George are the perfect hosts who go that little bit further to meet your needs. Delicious piping hot breakfast at a time convenient to you, ordered the previous night for speed and efficiency. The room 'at the top' or Penthouse as George puts it 🤔, was very clean and spacious and we had our own private bathroom. A little gem in Galway City. We'll definitely be back.

Reviewed Apr 27, 2026Just so you know it’s someone’s home all you get is a small bedroom with a small ensuite. 10 minute walk to city center. The breakfast was good. The host is very helpful and knowledgeable about the city and surrounding area.
No soap provided. Have no common area except for breakfast time.

Great breakfast in a lovely dining/sitting room with a variety of hot & cold foods available. George & Bridie are attentive, friendly, & informative hosts. They also let guests leave cars parked a while longer after check-out -- a nice bonus to be able to explore a little more without having to navigate to public parking. Would stay again.
The bathroom is rather small (but is tidy & makes good use of the limited space).

The B&B is within walking distance to Galway's Latin Quarter, and you won't have trouble finding anywhere to sit and have a pint and listen to music. Breakfast was delicious, and our host was sweet and accommodating. This was a great place to stay.

Reviewed Jan 19, 2026Unfortunately, we were only in Galway for one night, and it coincided with the arrival of extratropical cyclone Amy! So we were a bit drenched and cold when we arrived, and weren't able to go out and see the city as we'd planned. We just stopped at the nearby Tesco and got some snacks since going out for dinner wasn't feasible, and ate them in our room. Having said that, we were extremely grateful to be in such a comfy and cozy room for the evening, and Bridie was wonderful and friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was great. We'll have to go back to Galway another time, but would definitely stay at Sli Na Mara again.

Reviewed Oct 24, 2025This lovely residential B&B in Galway city was perfect for a brief stop on the way to Connemara NP! It is ideally located near the city center, yet quiet and suburban in its setting. Bridie and George were wonderful hosts, and graciously accommodated my late check-in (I had done a day long tour of Innis Orr and couldn't arrive until 7). I still had time to take a lovely evening stroll through the park and the Latin Quarter and around Galway bay. Breakfast was wonderful, and I enjoyed a lovely chat with some fellow lodgers! Bridie introduced me to a wonderful new condiment that gave my eggs a nice little kick! Although my stay was brief, it was a joy - I definitely recommend booking with George and Bridie if your travels bring you through Galway city..
