The area is a bit out of the way but the centre can easily be reached by tuk tuk.

Really nice staff, the room was super clean and the bed was huge and confortable. They served different kind of breakfast each day. I would return when I have business in Mirissa. Quiet environment but close to everything.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und geräumig. Das Frühstück sehr lecker und vor allem war die Familie super nett, freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. Wir können dieses Homestay nur weiterempfehlen.

The location is good, it’s on a quiet neighborhood and you can walk 15min to the main beach and also near the bus station. This home is run by a good family, the owner Damith is very friendly and helpful. The highlight of all is their very cute dog — Rexy, such a superstar! ⭐️ Bohoma Isthuthi 😌

There are some insects in the room but there is also a mosquito net that protects the bed

the room is absolutely not soundproof and during the night it was very loud, especially because there are construction works next to the house right now

L’emplacement super, proche de la route et de la station de bus. Pas besoin de prendre un tuktuk pour s’y rendre. La chambre est confortable et fonctionnelles (AC). Le personnel est extrêmement gentil et arrangeant. Nous avons pu louer un scooter avec lui et il nous a passé le numéro d’un de ses contacts pour faire un safari crocodile à Matara pour vraiment pas cher ! Superbe expérience.

Malheureusement ils faisaient des travaux pendant que nous y étions. Un concert de marteau et de scie circulaire qui résonnait a 5m de nous et ce jusqu’à 2h du matin…

I had a wonderful stay at this guest house in Mirissa. During my visit, I unfortunately had a bike accident, but the family hosting the guest house was incredibly helpful and supportive. They went out of their way to gather everything I needed from the city and provided special assistance whenever I required it. Their hospitality and kindness truly made a difficult situation much easier. The guest house itself was very clean, the rooms were comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. Their child speaks fluent English, which made communication effortless. Overall, I deeply appreciate the family’s care and support, especially during such a challenging time, and I would highly recommend this guest house to anyone visiting Mirissa.

Close to everything but down a little side lane making it quiet. A lovely family run home makes you a welcome addition. Food and drinks shared with music. Rooms are spotless and comfortable.

בעלי המקום מקסימים, קיבלו אותנו ממש יפה, ישר הציעו לנו לשבת איתם לקפה, פספסנו את הארוחת בוקר והביאו לנו פירות ופנקייקים בכל זאת, הציעו תמיד לעזור והגישו חיוך. רק בשבילם שווה לשהות במקום.

Es war alles super, die Gastfamilie hat uns herzlich empfangen und freundlich aufgenommen. Wir haben Tipps und Hilfen für alles Mögliche bekommen. Spontan zum Surfen, Tauchen und die Weiterfahrt nach Tissa auch kein Problem .So ist der Start in Sri Lanka einfach. 🫶

Property was at quiet place but near the beach, supermarket, bank etc. everything was walkable distance away. Host was really kind and fulfilled special needs we had.

Nous avons passés 6 nuits avec la famille. Ils sont adorables, la chambre est hyper propre, le petit déjeuner copieux et délicieux. Ils nous ont invités à leur repas de nouvel an, c’était juste magnifique. Je recommande sans hésiter 🥹

Gospodarze są bardzo przyjaźni i pomocni. Serwują dobre śniadania. Starają się umilić gościom czas - podczas naszego pobytu zorganizowali u siebie karaoke. Obiekt w spokojnej okolicy, kilkanaście minut spacerem od centrum.

W pokoju było dużo owadów (dobrze przynajmniej, że nad łóżkiem była moskitiera - niestety się przydała).

Das Guest House ist einfach wundervoll, die Familie ist super gastfreundlich und zaubert einem immer ein Lächeln aufs Gesicht. Das Frühstück war auch ein Traum. Man hat sich fast schon wie zu Hause gefühlt.

Właściciele przemili, rodzinna atmosfera, bardzo dobre jedzenie. Wysoki komfort noclegu. Bardzo polecamy syna właścicieli jako instruktora surfingu w dobrej cenie. Czteronożny właściciel obiektu również podnosi ocenę tego miejsca :)

The rooms were very comfortable with air conditioning and lovely spacious beds and bathroom. The family running this place were very welcoming and friendly.

The location is good but could be better. It’s located very near to the busy main road which doesn’t feel so safe to walk. Walk to the main beach is 15 minutes. The breakfast was good but not great. Hot water didn’t work in our shower.

De familie was zo onwijs vriendelijk en dacht erg met ons mee. Ze wilden het ons zo comfortabel mogelijk maken en tegelijk vonden ze het leuk als we aansloten bij hun familiefeestje! Het ontbijt is heerlijk en de hond van de familie is een knuffelbeer. Het was een top verblijf! We hadden een kamer met riant 2 persoonsbed en airconditioning: top!

Sanda Hiru es el mejor lugar para pasar unas agradables vacaciones en Mirissa, muy bien situado, a 1 minuto caminando del puerto donde puedes ir a ver ballenas y realizar diferentes actividades acuáticas. La relación calidad-precio es increíble!! Damith, el dueño del establecimiento y su mujer e hijos fueron encantadores y muy acogedores con nosotros desde el primer momento, siempre atentos de que no nos faltase nada. Tanto el desayuno que está incluido en el precio, como alguna comida y cena que prepararon para nosotros estaban deliciosos. Recomendaría este sitio a cualquier pareja o familia que quiera pasar unas buenas vacaciones en la playa y a la vez empaparse de la cultura srilanquesa.

This was our favorite place in Sri Lanka! The owners are super kind and nice! You will play games and chat with them. They deserve it well 🥰 The rooms are great, the AC worked just perfect. Parking in the place, close to everything and 50m to the harbor. The breakfast is delicious and fulfilling ☺️

Un alojamiento de 10. Esta familia fue un auténtico descubrimiento, son muy simpáticos y te ayudan en todo lo que necesites. Estuvimos enfermas durante nuestra estancia y nos cuidaron. Los desayunos son muy buenos. La habitación tiene todas las comodidades y el wifi va muy bien. Está cerca de la playa.

Gospodarz i cała jego rodzina są bardzo życzliwi i pomocni. Pokoje są bardzo duże i czyste. Lokalizacja obiektu jest bardzo dobra, cicho i spokojnie, blisko do centrum można na spokojnie iść na piechotę. Śniadanie jest dobre wystarczające aby zaspokoić głód. Na miejscu jest wiele udogodnień w tym syn gospodarza dla chętnych prowadzi lekcje surfing. Polecam tu zajrzeć!

(Dla osób wynajmujących pokój bez klimatyzacji) Wentylator na suficie jest wygodny tylko mam wrażenie że był trochę za wysoko lub moskitiera trochę tłumiła jego efekt. Według mnie można by go troszkę obniżyć albo dodać jeszcze jeden nie duży stojący wentylator ale to zależy od osoby tam śpiącej. Moim zdaniem to jeszcze wąż od słuchawki prysznicowej będzie potrzeba wkrótce wymienić.

Wir mussten das Zimmer wechseln weil das eine untenliegende Apartment nach dem einschalten der Klimaanlage extrem eklig gerochen hat. Zudem war an der Decke über dem Bett schimmel und das Bett ging auf Hüfthöhe nach unten (Lattenrost gebrochen?). Wir konnten zum Glück das Zimmer wechseln worin trotzdem etwas Schimmel war, es hat aber nicht so schlimm gerochen wie im anderen Zimmer. Das Bett war in diesem Zimmer ebenfalls unbequem auch wenn das Lattenrost hier wohl nicht defekt war.

Die Unterkunft ist richtig schön, freundlich und modern eingerichtet. Die Räume sind gut ausgestattet und es ist alles sehr sauber. Das Frühstück ist super lecker und die Besitzer sind so herzlich, hilfsbereit und freundlich. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist überdurchschnittlich gut.

Struttura carina nei pressi di Mirissa, la stanza con poggiolo aveva un paio di sedie ed un tavolino che permetteva di rilassarsi fuori dalla camera. Proprietari molto disponibili. Fermata dell'autobus per Galle/Matara raggiungibile a piedi. Colazione buona.

C'erano un paio di blatte che giravano per la camera, oltre che delle piccole formiche sulle lenzuola del letto, che mi hanno dato la sensazione di insetti sul corpo per giorni anche dopo aver lasciato la struttura. Una saponetta in bagno potevano metterla.

Al nostro arrivo nella camera siamo stati pervasi da un fortissimo odore di muffa, impossibile che i proprietari stessi e gli altri visitatori non se ne siano accorti, le pareti erano nere. Abbiamo acceso il condizionatore e la situazione è peggiorata ancora di più. La proprietaria assillante è falsa. Il bagno è SPETTACOLARE, la finestra minuscola e rotta , formiche che girano . La colazione non curata , non ha salvato la situazione

Ho soggiornato due notti presso questa struttura durante un viaggio con mia sorella e ci siamo trovate benissimo! La coppia che gestisce la guesthouse è estremamente gentile e accogliente, e fin da subito ci ha fatto sentire come a casa. Sono davvero persone fantastiche. La posizione è eccezionale: a pochi passi dal centro e dalle spiagge, in un quartiere tranquillo. La camera era super pulita e confortevole, con un letto comodissimo dotato di zanzariera. La colazione, cucinata sul momento dalla signora, era fantastica: rotolini al cocco squisiti e tanta frutta fresca. Una sera ci ha fatto assaggiare anche del kottu appena preparato per altri ospiti: eccezionale, davvero delizioso! Grazie di cuore per averci accolte e fatte sentire parte di una famiglia. Speriamo di rivederci presto!

La relación calidad-precio es muy buena. El desayuno bueno, te ofrecen té y café cuando quieras gratis y en general bastante bien.

Aunque sabíamos que la habitación no tenía aire acondicionado, solo ventilador de techo, hacía calor para dormir.

Het matras is wat dunner, waardoor het bed vrij hard aanvoelt.

Alles, besonders die nette Familie. Man wird empfangen als würde man zur Familie gehören! Wir wurden zu einem Spieleabend und einem selbst gefangenen Fisch eingeladen. Auch der organisierte Surfunterricht mit dem Sohn des Chefs war super!

Im Zimmer war es sehr heiss. Wir wussten jedoch dass es keine Klimaanlage hat.

Wir hatten super schöne Tage in Mirissa. Die Familie(und auch der Hund Lexi) sind wahnsinnig lieb. An einem Morgen wurden wir gefragt ob wir nicht gefüllte Pfannkuchen machen wollen. Super lecker 🥰 Roller wurde uns für wenig Geld organisiert. Auf Nachfrage machten wir sogar einen Kottu Kochkurs und aßen mit der ganzen Familie zu Abend. Vielen lieben Dank für die schöne Zeit und das eintauchen in das Sri Lankanische leben.

De familie was echt super vriendelijk. We kregen bij ontvangst meteen een kop thee en de airco stond al aan in de kamer. 20 minuten wandelen tot Mirissa beach. Heerlijk rustig. Voor ons de perfecte plek.

Het matras had helaas echt z'n beste tijd gehad. We lagen praktisch op de houten bodem. Goed om die te vervangen. Verder echt niets op aan te merken. Zeker niet voor die prijs.

Great location in a peaceful area very near the beaches.

Despite the AC it was too hot to have a blanket on the bed. When we asked for a sheet for the 2nd night, we got it though. It wasn't a good feeling when we asked to have breakfast at 8.15 because we needed to catch a train and the lady/owner wasn't pleased and tried to insist to serve it at 8.30 (it was only a 15 min difference).

Good for family stay also for singles. Room is decent enough for the stay. Close proximity to the attractions within 2-3 Kms. If required the owner will also arrange the rental vehicle(2 Wheeler) for an efficient price. Overall stay was good. The host was very helpful.

The most memorable thing about this place is the wonderful family that run the place. So welcoming and friendly. We had many nice chats and played a local board game in the evenings. Often asked if I needed a tea or coffee. Great included breakfast. I also went for a surf lesson with their son. 1 minute to a small beach where the fishing boats launch and 10 mins walk to Mirisa beach.

Honestly, the place was hold by the most lovely family that we met in Sri Lanka, the room was really good for the price, the breakfast was stunning, dinner was delicious and was really consistent ! We spent 5 days at this place, and it was like being in the family ! Don’t hesitate to book at Sanda Hiru Guest !! Thanks again Damith !

We found a Home in Mirissa—Sanda Hiru stole our hearts 💛 We stayed at Sanda Hiru Guesthouse for two nights, and what we took back was far more than just memories—it felt like family. The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully comfortable. Every detail reflected the care they put into hosting. Breakfasts were not only delicious but served with such love—you could taste it in every bite. This was packed for us to have it in our train journey when we going from Mirissa to Colombo so tweak it accordingly - The special treats like freshly made pancakes and those addictive coconut toffees were the sweetest surprise! And when we mentioned we wanted to try Sri Lankan masala, they went out of their way to get it for us. Honestly, who does that these days? But what truly made it special was them—the people. Genuine, kind-hearted, and full of warmth. We laughed together, shared stories, and created moments we’ll always carry with us. They didn’t just host us—they welcomed us like one of their own. We can’t wait to go back and stay with them again. If you’re heading to Mirissa and want more than just a place to sleep—go to Sanda Hiru. You’ll arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.

I had the most amazing time at Sanda Hiri Guesthouse, the Family is amazing, so friendly and funny, we played many games and I had the most amazing time with them. The breakfast which is included is great as well and the room is very spacious and clean! The location is also very good and close to everything (walking distance). I will definitely come back and highly recommend to stay there when you want to visit Mirissa.
