We arrived quite late after visiting the Three Sisters and Elephant Rock Beach, and Jill kindly made it possible for us to do a late self check-in. The place is simple but comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast was generous and a nice way to start the day.

Loved the cottage and the fact that the grounds were beautiful well kept gardens. A great place to relax. Breakfast was included - the food supplied surpassed anything expected. Could have stayed longer.

View and surrounding gardens were beautiful. Added touches like the eggs, cake, milk and others waiting in the fridge were very helpful.

I think this is the best holiday accommodation we have ever had in New Zealand. The owner has an amazing garden which I think opens to the public and she is so nice. We were delighted to discover we had a cabin to ourselves and the breakfast, including bacon and eggs was all set out for us in the fridge. We noted there was a walk to a private waterfall and really regretted the fact that we had to leave first thing in the morning to meet friends. We would love to go back and stay a few days in this idyllic place. Highly recommended.

The accommodation is located in a huge, romantic garden with a pond and wonderful plants. The nice room is well equipped with a kitchenette and bathroom and has a nice terrace in front. The hosts weren't there, but a friendly representative showed us everything. Breakfast was prepared in the kitchen/refrigerator, we made it ourselves in the morning.

Si vous êtes à la recherche d'un petit paradis perdu dans la nature... Où, quelque soit l'endroit où se poseront vos yeux, vous serez émerveillé... Un parc, entretenu avec amour par sa propriétaire, où canards et oies se promènent en toute quiétude pendant que vous empruntez une allée ou un des petits ponts surplombant le ruisseau alimentant le petit étang couvert de nénuphars... de l'autre côté, de jeunes agneaux gambadant dans les prés vallonnés directement sortis du roman de Tolkien... Alors, sans lire les autres commentaires des voyageurs précédents, je suis certain qu'ils reflètent tout ce que je n'ai pas dit ici... En résumé... tout était parfait !!!

We had a truly wonderful stay at Jill’s place. After our long journey from Germany, finding such a beautiful gem felt like a dream come true. The accommodation was spotless, spacious, and surrounded by a magnificent garden that felt more like a private park — lovingly designed and full of character. A stroll through this landscape right outside the door left us speechless; so many impressions of nature united in one magical place. The breathtaking view over the rolling green hills created a deep sense of peace and serenity, making it hard to leave. Our cottage had its own kitchen, and Jill had thoughtfully provided everything we needed for a self-prepared breakfast — fresh, high-quality ingredients and a generous selection that made the morning truly special. Her warmth and genuine hospitality made us feel at home from the very first moment. We can wholeheartedly recommend this extraordinary place to anyone seeking beauty, tranquility, and inspiration. The cottage was spacious and clean. The kitchen had everything we needed. The gardens were like eden! So beautiful. We wished we booked 2 nights here so we could bird watch in the garden for a day. We were given access to the second half of the cottage (with the second bed) for an extra $40NZD.

There is no cell service at the cottage.

Breakfast choice was varied and delicious. Setting within the gardens was quiet and relaxing. Walk around the gardens was beautiful. Jill was a very friendly host.

Spacious room with lovely big bed. Fabulous and generous supplies for breakfast. Bacon, eggs, muesli and cereals, Greek yogurt, toast,condiments and fruit. Wifi was great no problem checking work emails and facebooking. Warm, dry and very clean room. Would not hesitate to recommend and if in the area would stay again. Thanks Jill for making our stay so lovely.

We had a lovely one-night stay in this clean and comfortable cottage. The bed was especially cosy, making for a great night's sleep. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches—breakfast ingredients were provided, including fresh eggs and delicious homemade jam, along with freshly baked brownies which were a real treat. The gardens were beautiful and a pleasure to wander through, with peaceful views over the horse paddocks adding to the charm. A truly relaxing stay.

The peaceful setting was sublime, even in TORRENTIAL rain. The accommodation was beautifully presented, the bed large and comfy, and breakfast items a real treat. Recommend Jill's home made brownies, light and tasty. Shame the weather was so wet as I would've like a chance to admire the garden.

Just a bit cold at night as only 1 cover on the bed but we later learnt from the owner that there were spare blankets in the box. We did put on heater. 20 minutes drive to nearest restaurant/ cafe.

A tranquil and comfortable cottage in beautiful gardens. The property was immaculate and the breakfast provisions magnificent! Jill's welcome and advice on the area were excellent. A perfect place to relax and appreciate the locality. The walk to the waterfall is a highlight that should not be missed.

Stunning scenery and very comfortable accommodation. The breakfast Jill provides is the best we've had in New Zealand. The gardens and private waterfall are exceptional.

A fuller description of how to find the property which was about 25 klm outside Te Kuiti. I wasted about 1hr trying to find it!

Lovely little cottage with fully equipped kitchen for supplied bacon and eggs with muesli/bran/yoghurt/fruit/toast/fudge etc. Gorgeous rolling gardens with ponds, bridges, seats, pathways and viewpoints. Allow 45min each way for the walk up to the secret waterfall( well worthwhile). Jill is friendly , helpful and hardworking.

My leg disappearing between two boulders when I was jumping down (off-track) in the bush area just above the falls. Luckily injury was mostly to pride.

It’s set in the most beautiful garden and is really well equipped and immaculately clean. Host was very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Breakfast and cakes much appreciated. Walk to waterfall was well signed and well worth the walk. Didn’t want to leave ! Very good value for money.

Very comfortable cottage in a lovely garden. If you get the chance, take the time to walk up to the waterfall. You’ll enjoy it.

The cottage is lovely, comfy bed and has everything you need, including things for a nice breakfast in the morning. The gardens are beautiful. We stayed here the night before starting the Timber trail, a very convenient location for that. Nice and easy communication from Jill, would definitely stay again!

The property and beds were great, and breakfast was nice. Location was critical for us, as there wasn't much in this area to choose from -- and Aramatai Gardens served just as we needed it to!

Communication could have been much better. There seem to be signs, but they're a bit conflicting (e.g., signs for camper vans vs. signs to the main house, but not explicit sign for the lodge for B&B guests, or most importantly, how to pick up your keys). It would have been nice to have an email laying out exactly what the process would be if arriving at 9pm (like we were).

Had no blankets on the bed,just sheet and bedspread.was a very cold night so had to have the heater on all night.In the morning no hot water in sink,shower or kitchen sink.may have been because of heavy frost. Despite booking several weeks prior and been confirmed the host had forgotten we were coming and wondered what we were doing there when she came to the cottage at 6pm.

Most beautiful gardens and when you're in the kitchen you can see all the farm animals playing and frolicking around.

Cosy cottage with beautiful surroundings. A little stream right at your front door. The owner has gone above and beyond with little extras in the room. Wish we could have stayed longer and soaked in the surroundings.

The food supplied for breakfast was great - bacon and fresh eggs plus cereal and fruit juice - and the lovely touch of fresh baking! Not that far from Te Kuiti but very close to the Taumarunui highway if you were travelling that way. Very highly recommended!! The gardens were the highlight of the stay - like a small arboretum. We could not see an iron and ironing board as we were heading to a function however I am sure our obliging host would have supplied them if asked - so certainly not a major issue!

Aramatai Gardens could be described as a country cottage sitting between a botanical park on one side and farmland on the other. The park is extensive with ponds and bridges, and many interesting trees and plants. You could spend an hour walking and admiring this attraction. If you stay one night only, I would suggest checking in as early as possible to have enough time to see the park and falls. Bring food for dinner though because there are no food options nearby. You cook breakfast yourself from products supplied by Jill. Homemade brownies are one of the best I ever had. The only minor thing I would suggest is one more slice of bread for breakfast.

Our stay at Aramatai Gardens was truly enchanting! Nestled in a picturesque location surrounded by nature, the walk to the waterfall was amazing. Greeting the friendly cat, dogs and horses added a special touch. The cottage was incredibly comfortable and the breakfast was hands down the most generous we've experienced in all of New Zealand.
