Reviewed Mar 14, 2026It was a good location for us as we were travelling from Christchurch to Dunedin. Room was lovely and we could wander round the extensive gardens. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful.

Reviewed Nov 26, 2024What an incredibly and beautifully restored grand estate! Inside accommodations are each immaculately presented with true antique furniture, original 1910 stained glass, designer bath fixtures, gorgeous wood floors, wainscoting, and molding throughout the entire house. Warm quits and throw blankets are the norm in bedrooms and lounging areas. The grounds are a lush green with a mixture of colorful flowers and shrubs. There is even a superb 100+ year old redwood specimen standing tall amidst all this beautiful landscaping. The provided breakfast was a delicious assortment of breads and muffins, fruits, cereals, juice and coffee/tea in the elegant former dance and theater hall. Perhaps most special was the gracious hospitality of owners Linda and Mike. They together made the experience one we’ll certainly not forget.

Her breakfast she made us was a touch of class , beautifully presented, very very nice. Such a shame we didn’t stay another day.

The house has been beautifully renovated, it was warm and comfortable. Peter and Linda have done a fabulous job of making it a home from home. Oh, and must not forget to mention Ted, their little dog who is adorable and also very welcoming. I will definitely return.

Reviewed Oct 30, 2022Beautifully restored 1910 Homestead with amazing attention to detail. The gardens were lovely to walk round and full of birdsong. We really loved the hosts - they made us feel really welcome and we shared common interests. Our room was cosy and comfortable and the lounge area was beautifully decorated with a large flat screen TV, period furniture and a kitchenette. The chandeliers and ornate ceiling rose are a work of art and it is easy to see that this room used to be the ballroom - it even had a wee stage. We had a wonderful stay.
