It was the most beautiful place I've ever stayed. I booked 3 nights at first, but extended twice then ended up staying 6 days because I really didn't want to leave. Such a green and peaceful house!!🌿🧘‍♀️

I saw some ants and geckos during my stay but it was not a problem for me.

Место хорошее, но много гостиниц во круге лучше, можно немного переплотить и будет лучше комфорт! Хозяин хороший , старался чтоб все было хорошо, но шумоизоляции нет , в соседних номерах все слышно как тихо даже говорят и мотоциклы под окнами… ночью

Очень плохая шумоизоляция, только 2 номера с окнами, другие номера без окон, холодные завтраки в позднее время, был сломан вентилятор, только максимальная скорость, но на следующий день починили, работал с треском, телевизор не работал обещали сделать так за 8 дней и не починили.

Проживание в Mandara Rest очень понравилось. Океан, пляж в 10 минутах ходьбы неспешным шагом, 8-10 минут до рыбного, воскресного рынка, железнодорожной станции и автовокзала. В комнате производилась уборка и смена постельного белья с полотенцами каждые 5 дней. Очень удобное расположение общей кухни - на крыше, что исключает запахи еды в комнате. Вся посуда для приготовления еды имеется. Газ, холодильник. Чисто, уютно, спокойно. Очень хороший район. Хозяин приятный человек, на просьбу принести зелёные кокосы и мачете, сразу же выполнил просьбу. Центр Хиккадувы в 15 минутах. Все очень близко. Планирую при последующих приездах в Шри-Ланку, останавливаться в Mandara Rest! Хороший дом, хороший хозяин и очень приятные члены его семьи.

The host was very kind and helpful. The room is about 10-15’ walk from the main beach so quite a good position. The room was spacious

Lovely place. Owner was super nice. The room is super comfortable and there is a kitchen upstairs you can use. The downstairs rooms have a little outside area to sit in. The place is kept super clean. You can also do a load of laundry there for a reasonable price.

There was a bit of a strange smell in the room. But I'm sure this can easily be resolved with opening the doors for a day to air it out. Also note no hot water but this is typical in Sri Lanka.

The owners are very friendly. In the shared fridge we had stored a good supply of water for cooking, but another guest took all of it. The owner kindly brought us new water, which we really appreciated. The rooms are very clean and beautifully decorated! The surroundings are lovely as well. We originally booked for one night but extended to three because we felt so comfortable and at home here. There is also a kitchen on the upper terrace with a wonderful view where you can cook your meals.

The fan is a little far from the bed. That's why it's hot.

Quiet location, lovely seating area/garden, access to the small swimming pool was convenient as this is not a beachfront location. Room was very comfortable, bed had mosquito net, and bathroom was spacious.

Useful to have access to a kitchen, but the fridge did not keep things very cool.

The mosquito net in the room had a few holes, the door was not completely tight and the wardrobe did not open. However, for a short stay it was bearable.

Lovely place to stay! The room was big and airy with a beautiful balcony. Nice bathroom as well with a really good shower. The family was so nice and friendly! Bit of a walk to the beach but we found a route in a quiet area which was nice. Definitely recommend :)

What a fantastic place to stay! Myself and my friend ended up staying for 9 nights as we fell in love with the place as soon as we got there 🙂 the whole family is so welcoming and friendly I couldn't recommend this place enough!

What a peaceful beautiful place, the owner is extremely chilled and easy going , the shared kitchen was perfect . Quiet, clean and comfortable . Definitely recommend

We couldn't recommend Mandara Rest more highly to anybody visiting Hikkaduwa! We stayed here for almost 3 months and were very sad to leave! The rooms are spotlessly clean, comfortable, spacious and just as advertised, and the owner could not be more helpful and kind! The location is a 5-10 minute walk from the beach and bus/train stations and is very peaceful, and being in a less touristy area there are lots of small local shops/restaurants nearby which are cheaper and very good! The property is covered in vines and flowers which is lovely and feels very close to nature. There are laundry facilities, 2 kitchens and a fridge that you can use, and you also have access to the lovely swimming pool next door. Highly recommend!

I had such a nice and cozy stay at Mandara Rest. The room was super clean and big and especially the balcony is super nice. The staff was very friendly and chilled and the beach and shops are in walking distance.

Okay for the money you pay there. It was nice the we could use the pool of the neighbors for free. Short distance to Hikkaduwa beach with Tuktuk.

Lovely room in a peaceful location

Shaan was an awesome host. The place is nice and clean. Very green. We saw a mongoose family, which is very rare and beautiful birds from the rooftop. It's about 500m from the bus stand. The beach is a little walk but not too much. I would definitely stay here if I visit Hikkeduwa next time. Highly recommended.

The neighbours on either sides of the property owned dogs that barked in the middle of night for a few hours. It was a bit annoying since it was almost every night. If you're a light sleeper then you can take chances. But other than that it's a very quiet and serene place.

very nice place near to the city and beach but hidden in the nature. The property is vety nice, beautiful garden, terrace, nice people..😌 just the room was very hot without AC, and downstairs very often any insect can come in, but well.. we are in Sri Lanka😄🧘🏽‍♀️ polite and helpful owner balanced everything. In the end I really enjoyed my stay😌🌴🏄🏽‍♀️ #thankyou

Really nice room, beautiful surroundings of the house (plants all over the house), the balcony, very good price for the conditions, good location, there is a little kitchen, I asked the host if they can provide me a desk to work and they easily agreed! WiFi is not great, but enough for normal usage

- You could never fully close the room. You could close the door, but around the balcony's door there were many "holes" in the wall, through which all kinds of insects could enter. Hopefully there were not many mosquitos there! so it wasn't a big problem. But I had gekons and one cockroach running around the room - at the time I was there, there were some construction works around - it's not the fault of Mandara Rest through

It was nice not being in the built up tourist area but still a short stroll to the beach & shops. The host was lovely & very helpful

Close to train station. Staff were friendly. Off the main road so quiet at night.

No pool on site, the pool was a few properties up and had to pay a fee. No hot water. Room was full of mosquitos and spiders. No blanket provided.

Accommodation was a really good value, as the room was bright, seemed new, had a beautiful private balcony and bathroom was really nice. Fan was working well and sockets were universal, good for travelers. Loation is like 10 minutes walk from the train station and the main road where all the caffees are, however, it is also very calm and peaceful location.

Only minus for me was the early check out time at 9.30.

Great value for money, the staff was extremely nice and helpful.

Keep in mind that the window in the bedroom can’t be closed, so any insect can come in. There is a mosquito net above the bed, but still insects can come in the room, in our case we found a worm and a gecko.

The place was amazing.

The location was good. But if you have a car or bike better. Otherwise it is 10 min walk. The owner is very kind. The plants they have put and the way around the property is very beautiful . We had a car and it was very comfortable to be able to park there. The room is spacious and clean. And the fact that it has a kitchen and friedge is good . A lot of birds around in the morning. Nice small terrace with access directly from the room. Very quiet ambience.

I like everything but the photos of the kitchen are not updated. Now it is only possible to use the upstairs kitchen. I felt that it would be better to have more utensils. There were basics but as there were other guest sometimes it was insufficient. Also it will be good to have demarcations in the fridge for each room. Also the rooms have mosquito nets and mosquito electric repellent but the slates were open. Anyway we didn't have many mosquitoes.

An amazing quiet place with lots of beautiful birds around. You can watch them taking their bath every afternoon. The owner was so kind and helpful. The beach was reachable by 10 -15 min walk. I would definitely come back again . You will enjoy this place a lot if you like the nature.

Bathroom was SO nice, lovely room and lovely outdoor garden seating and scenery with all the plants. It’s a really cute and cozy little place.

Not much, it was quite far from the main stretch and any restaurants/shops. I didn’t mind walking but if you’re not a fan you’d have to tuk tuk everywhere. Also lots of mosquitos as there is a lot of greenery and dampness.

My husband and I vacationed in hotels for 20 days. We really liked the hotel. Its owner and staff are very attentive and kind people. They cleaned the wonderful garden every day. Bed linen was changed frequently. They have new beautiful sets of bed linen, new towels. Service at the highest level. Wonderful garden and kitchen on the roof of the hotel. We enjoyed the sounds and sights of the Sri Lankan jungle every morning and evening. 6 minutes walk to the ocean. Silence and comfort in the rooms. We had a wonderful vacation!

The room was clean and very reasonable in price. Bed was comfortable and the balcony on the top of the hotel seemed nice. Only a short 15 minute walk from the main strip of Hikkaduwa.

There are open shutters on the windows, which do not have the ability to shut. This meant there were a lot of mosquitoes and large ants on arrival and throughout the stay. There was a mosquito net over the bed, but if you are like me and don’t like bugs, I wouldn’t recommend- if you are braver, go for it! The ceiling fan was very loud and there is no AC.

The room was spacious with a lovely terrace. Also loved the kitchen on top.

Lovely quiet place, great value for money. It's near the train station and a minute walk off the main road out of town but is super green and quiet.

01. The owner is a very kind, supportive, and silent person. 02. Since, a newly constructed place it has a very pleasant appearance. 03. The place is really clean and tidy. 04. The landscape and hanging plants were the most impressive thing to me. 05. The small balcony area is very comfortable and it is covered by hanging plants. 06. The bed is quite comfortable. There is a vaporizer and mosquito net in the room. We used the net because there were few mosquitos in the middle of the night, but that wasn't an issue. 07. Location is about 600m away from the Hikkaduwa Bus stand and it is situated on a bus route (Hikkaduwa - Baddegama I guess). 08. The place is very calm and quiet. 09. A cupboard, cloth hanging equipment, linen, toilet paper, and soap are provided. We would love to visit this place again! (The bird lock of the door was damaged by us and we asked the owner to add extra chargers, but he only accepted the agreed amount of money for our stay. That should be definitely appreciated!)

01. There isn't a hot water facility yet, but that wasn't an issue for us. (It might be a little bit difficult in the rainy season.) Before the stay, we made a phone call to the place and clarified it. 02. The bathroom door is made of transparent glass and timber. I guess they designed it to attract high-end and foreign customers. Since we are not a married couple we had to cover the door with towels.

Location quite a walk to town

A brand new building, green area with beautiful flowers. The room was very comfortable, with a wardrobe and hanger which is not common in Sri Lanka. Fan works fine, bed was very good, and we had a lovely balcony. Also the rooftop was very nice, we got some fruits at the market (we could use the fridge) and made ourselves breakfast for the first time here.

It's 7 minutes walking from the beach, so motorbike would be nice.

the room was super clean and newly build! there was also a kitchen for us to use on the rooftop!!
