Lovely room, very clean and comfortable.

Noisy people in the room above until 3am, although I did contact the owners the folliwing morning, who reached out to the occupants. Second night was far better. So overall I cannot blame the venue, just inconsiderate people who dont respect that other people would like to sleep.

The cleaner was friendly.

The Tithe Tap was not open as advised.

Didnt like the fact we only stayed one night!

The Tithe Barn in Cockermouth is genuinely one of the best value stays we’ve found in the Lake District. We stayed three nights in the Deluxe King room at £117 a night, and for the quality of the room and bathroom, that’s excellent value. The bathroom alone was huge, with a shower that had properly strong water pressure — something that’s rarer than it should be at this price point. The whole building is beautifully done, and it’s consistent throughout — from the moment you step into the hallway (which genuinely smells amazing) right through to the room itself, everything feels considered and spotlessly clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The only thing we’d flag is the TV, which felt a little small for the room. Check-in is self-service via a smart lock, and it was genuinely easy — no faff, no waiting around. Despite there being no staff on-site, our room was still cleaned daily, and the building never felt busy or crowded during our stay, which added to how relaxed the whole visit felt. Parking was included, and check-in/check-out times (3pm/10am) were clear and straightforward. We’d return without hesitation, especially given how well-placed Cockermouth is for exploring both Keswick and Buttermere.

Had some trouble with the panel to enter my room, but was helped out pretty quickly. Some water in the room would be nice or a note saying the tap water is fine to drink. Was quite warm in the room the fan helped a little.

Lack of Mini Fridge / keypad entry a little hit and miss *had to try a few times to gain entry - shelf in bathroom not stable so unable to put items on it - no room temperature control accept for a fan - a little lack of privacy with window arrangement *found people outside looking up from across the road in evening - parking in B&M not secure *open car park / park at your own risk - location ok / but no restaurants open *Sunday / Evening / Summer Season?and even the cocktail bar closed *

It’s the perfect location close to everything, I was attending a wedding close by and I can’t fault this hotel my room was beautiful and so clean, I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay again. The host were accommodating as I needed an early check in and responding to my messages. The bed was so comfy had the best sleep.

Fabulous property in the heart of Cockermouth. Easy to find and access despite it being unmanned.

Would be better if there was a wardrobe or hanging rail for clothes. Dressing table with mirror would have meant we did not have to rearrange furniture. A shelf by the sink in the bathroom to put toothbrushes, toothpaste etc. would be good. None of these things spoiled our time there but would have moved the score from 9 to 10

Everything about this property is exceptional. The decor, cleanliness and location to amenities in Cockermouth which is why this is the third time we have stayed at the Tithe Barn. Also the staff are so good at communicating with us each step of our trip. We are already planning our fourth stay.

It’s my 3 rd time at this property and it gets better and better each time.

Very stylish, warm, spotless and well equipped, The bed was so comfortable. The car parking arrangement seemed to work well. We were staying overnight for a wedding (shout out to Low Hall, the Lakes - absolutely beautiful!) so we didn’t see too much of Cockermouth but the surroundings are stunning. Tithe Barn is a great location for exploring.

Very little not to like, though self check in, though very easy, made the experience a little soulless, however, communication with the owners was friendly and informative. A little fridge would’ve been a bonus.

Very convenient location. Materials in the room felt luxurious, nice attention to detail. Bed was a great size and lovely pillows. Large room. Very spacious bathroom. The room is 5* and luxurious - we loved it ❤️

Our room was above the bar and after a 9hr drive we just wanted to relax and sleep however there was very loud music and chatter until around 12. Guests arrived on our second night in the room above us. Every move they made in their bedroom or bathroom was transferred through to our room. Overall, it was quite a noisy experience. Our bathroom, and especially the bathroom floor, was very cold, even with the radiator on - make sure you take some slippers!

Nothing about the property itself. Only downside it is right in the town centre so there was quite a bit of noise up until midnight to be expected as we stayed on a Friday night.

Centrally located, beautiful old house decorated to a high standard, and beautiful stylish and modern design. The bed was extremely comfortable and slept fantastic!

Excellent location, right in the town centre, surprisingly quiet for the two nights we stayed. All details were provided very promptly and the owners were very responsive. A hidden gem and somewhere we are very likely to book again.

Car parking is provided but it is around the corner in a public car park. This is expected due to the location of the hotel in such a central spot, but if the weather is bad you need to be aware that you can’t park right outside the hotel. Not a major problem for us.

The shower in room 8 was a bit dodgy, I couldn't get the hot water to turn down. Was always really hot. Couldn't have a shower.

I always stay here when I’m in the area. The rooms are spacious and very clean and smell free. The windows open so fresh air can be experienced unlike some hotels. Can’t really ask for anything else.

The decor of this hotel is lovely and the information i got from the staff leading up to our stay was excellent. The check in was really easy and also included parking at the b&m across the road. Would definitely stay here again! 🫶

A little bit pricey for no breakfast included, but they don’t offer food so can’t really complain.

The rooms were beautifully decorated and a great size. The bathroom was also huge and well fitted out. The location, right in the middle of Cockermouth, couldn't be faulted. Everything was within a very short walk. The self check-in and checkout worked very well, too.

The cushions had stains on them which made me think they aren’t cleaned. Maybe get rid of cushions/linen that can’t be properly washed?

The whole Hotel and room are like something out of a White Company magazine - absolutely beautifully decorated, it feels so elegant and comfortable. The bathroom was also beautiful. The shower was piping hot with great water pressure, it felt very luxurious. Lovely tea, coffee and biscuits left too. In room thermostat was a big bonus after a day exploring Buttermere and Keswick!

Upon booking, I received a confirmation email including lots of great information. Within this email, it was stated that there is a bar below the hotel and that there may be “slight noise until 11pm when it closes”, we booked the trip last minute and understood that this might mean some noise. However, from 8pm until 1am, it felt like we were sleeping in the toilet of a nightclub. The music/bass was so loud and we could hear conversations of the patrons word for word, including karaoke! The windows were not very soundproof either, but again understandable as it is an old building. If we had known the ‘slight noise’ would be so intense and for way beyond midnight, we would have probably chosen somewhere else to stay. But upon booking and on confirmation, it wasn’t clear how loud and intense the noise would be. We were on the ground floor and there were no alternative rooms available for our stay or any compensation offered for the terrible nights sleep.

As it is a self check in it would be better if there was a fridge in the room. It would also be better if there was somewhere to get ready - dressing table with plug sockets so you can sit and get ready rather than stand in front of a mirror.
