The Thatched Cottage B&B vs Similar Hotels

Spacious and comfortable rooms; however, some found the room overly warm.

Rooms are often described as modern, spacious and comfortable (family rooms, comfy beds, balconies), though several guests reported issues such as worn bathrooms, need for refurbishment in some rooms, no minibar and air-cooling problems—overall good but with notable exceptions.

The room was comfortable and clean.

Mostly reported as clean (clean rooms, 'clean and spacious') but several guests noted problems with bathroom condition, shower quality and concerns about the pool cleanliness and leisure centre, producing a mixed but generally acceptable cleanliness impression.

Very good location, easy access to local attractions.

Location is repeatedly praised (central, excellent location, handy to access Galway), consistently viewed as a strong point.

Friendly and accommodating staff, pleasant interactions.

Staff are frequently described as friendly, helpful and professional with multiple mentions of excellent service and welcoming staff; a few isolated reports of unhelpful reception staff and one serious mishandled incident in the leisure centre lower but do not outweigh overall positive service sentiment.

Breakfast was appreciated; custom made coffees and pleasant selections.

Food receives strong positive feedback across reviews: breakfast repeatedly called excellent/perfect with wide range, dinner praised and popular with children. A few mentions note limited options, but overall food and beverage is a clear strength.

Good breakfast and nice grounds.

Mixed feedback: restaurant and gym receive positive mentions, but the leisure centre and pool are criticized (small pool, dirty-looking water, broken/old equipment, inaccessible jacuzzi), lowering the amenities score.

Good experience for the price considering the unique location.

Many guests felt the stay and food represented good value, yet several comments challenge the price relative to condition (e.g., '150 euros not worth it'), and administrative hassles (large deposit) also negatively affected perceived value for some.
