Comfy, spacious room and fabulous breakfast. Julie and Barry (and their dogs) made us feel very welcome and we felt we got to know them in the short time we spent in Christchurch. Getting up to date with laundry, which Julie organised, was really appreciated. Also Barry kindly lent us a phone charger as we had left ours in the previous accommodation. The journey to their house is about 30 minutes from the city by car but the ferry and bus journey into the city is a lovely way to get a perspective of how beautiful the location of Christchurch actually is. Would highly recommend staying here.

Diese Unterkunft war eine super Wahl. Die Gastgeberin hat an alles gedacht und das Frühstück war einfach grandios. Wir durften es in ihrem Garten geniessen. Die Lage ist in Gehdistanz zur Fähre (etwa 15 Minuten) nach Lyttelton. Neben dem tollen Aufenthalt war dies auch ein super Erlebnis dieses tolle Vorort von Christchurch zu erleben. (Von da kann man bequem auch mit dem Bus nach Christchurch fahren. )

Da gibt es wirklich nicht negatives zu sagen. Wir können diese Unterkunft und Gastgeber rundum weiterempfehlen.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Magnolia Cottage and Julie was an excellent host. The location was great, with everything in Diamond Harbour within walking distance. The space was incredibly clean, well thought out and comfortable, plus breakfast was amazing.

Sehr schön eingerichtete Wohnung und wundervollem Garten. Ein außergewöhnlich großzügiges Frühstück im Garten mit sehr leckerem Obstsalat ! Julie ist eine hervorragende Gastgeberin!! Wir haben uns sofort wohl gefühlt auch mit Louis und Possom den beiden lieben und wunderschönen Hunden. Die Auswahl an DVD s ist nicht zu toppen. Vielen Dank an Julie für den tollen Aufenthalt und ihre sehr guten Tipps.

This was the most wonderful property on the South Island. Julie and Barry are such attentive and thoughtful hosts. They truly think of every detail to make your stay exceptional. The place is adorable and wish we could have extended our stay. We absolutely loved our stay & especially breakfast in the garden!

We loved Magnolia Cottage. Very comfortable, great garden area with beautiful flowers. All you need plus added extras from Marie and Barry. The breakfast was fantastic. They are great hosts. Would highly recommend.

Breakfast was a trip highlight, and a perfect morning in the garden with a spring blossom. The bath was just exceptional and adored the 11:00 am check out :)

Exceptional breakfast each morning, with much thought put in by the host - thank you. Location was great, with nearby cafes and lovely views on the drive to and from. Impeccably clean, yet comfortable and homely at the same time.

We had a whole level to ourselves, which we enjoyed for resetting after camping for two weeks. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, were really lovely. But our favorite part was the hosts, who were extremely welcoming and helpful. Breakfast in the garden was delightful.

The whole experience was just the best.

Julie's hospitality is unbeatable. She made us feel at home straight away and welcomed us with some fresh cherries and Xmas cake. She asked us about our travel plans and gave some information, as well as where to eat in the area. The apartment is very comfortable and finely decorated, and the bedroom is very cosy. Julie provides bfast, which is great to get the day started. We stayed two nights, and we could have stayed longer if we could have had the opportunity. I absolutely highly recommend Magnolia Cottage! Thank you, Julie! ♥️

The unit is downstairs and the owner are upstairs I would have prefer a gate or some sort of a door not a curtain to separate the unit when they are hosting and a little sink for washing dishes would be lovely.

Our stay at Magnolia Cottage was wonderful! We loved the area, especially the stunning views of the harbour at sunset. The delicious breakfast and exceptional service from our lovely and friendly hosts made it even more special. The beautiful garden was a peaceful retreat that we could enjoy. ^_^ We highly recommend Magnolia Cottage to others and are already looking forward to staying there again!

From our arrival to our goodbyes, Julie was a gracious host. She greeted us with homemade banana and chocolate cake and was not intrusive, even though she and her husband live on the property. She made us feel welcome and went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable. Although a bit far out, I will definitely stay there again, especially since I now know a different route to get there from what Google maps tells you.

I arrived very stressed after a difficult few days; the atmosphere created by Julie, Barry and Magnolia Cottage itself gave us valuable rest and relaxation. Pots of tea and homemade cake, just what I needed, plus advice on local places to swim and walk etc.

Magnolia Cottage was a quiet oasis with a wonderful garden to roam around in and breakfasts on the terrace. Everything was well thought out to cater for our comfort and delight

We loved the cleanliness. The sheets were divine! Such fabulous quality. We fell asleep in minutes. Our bed was super comfortable. The gardens are so lovely, just like a cottage. Love the views of the harbour where the cruise ships come in. We loved Bob the cat and gorgeous Possum the dog coming in for a cuddle. Julie asked if we were comfortable with the animals before letting them roam around. Our breakfast in the garden was such a treat! Luckily the first day we had a sunny morning to experience it. Julie is the perfect hostess. Leaving us little muffins, biscuits and chocolates! The bath is awesome with a view to the garden and Julie left radox for me too! I mean, what more could you ask for! Barry was a delight too. Took time out of his busy day to have a chat. Nothing was too much trouble. One more thing, the flowers placed in the bathroom and bedroom from the garden was such a special tough! Thank you both. Clive and Pamela

The cottage and the garden is lovely, boutique and very clean. Even though we share same house with the hosts, the cottage is separated by a curtain with its own entry. Hosts are very friendly and welcoming, prepare our breakfast with lovely setting in the garden including boiled eggs, and continental breakfast. Diamond Habour is a lovely village which is about 40 minutes drive to Christchurch along the habour, there's a restaurant that opens to 8pm near by. Hosts have a lovely dog which is very friendly to kids

Addition of a small sink in the kitchen would be perfect but hosts are happy to clean the dishes for you

Everything! From the warm welcome, to the quality of the accommodation, extremely peaceful, very thoughtful little touch here and there, a very nice breakfast served outside as we were lucky with the weather. They are very discreet but still very welcoming. A wonderful place!

The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and the bathroom is so luxurious! Julie the host was so friendly, welcoming and helpful.

The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Everything was very clean and tidy. The outlook on the garden was an added bonus. Great breakfast out in the garden - lovely. We're pleased we chose this.

The lighting in the lounge was not bright enough. We had to bring a bedside lamp in from the bedroom to get adequate lighting at the table. The pillows were too firm/high for our liking - it would have been nice to have a choice of softer/lower pillows

Magnolia Cottage offers a great alternative to staying in central Christchurch. Great space with a lovely garden and views. While we only enjoyed a quick stopover, it would be a fantastic longer stay for those wanting a little bit of 'time out' in a quiet setting - but close to good amenities (Diamond Harbour has a very convenient passenger ferry over to Lyttleton for when more excitement is needed). We were greeted by Julie with fresh, homemade biscuits, chocolates and a lovely private lounge to unwind in. Breakfast was excellent and an added bonus were Possum (dog) and BobCat.

The hosts were wonderfully welcoming and friendly and it was a privilege to stay at Magnolia Cottage and be so well looked after. The breakfast was delicious, beautifully served and fabulously presented. The rooms were beautifully decorated, had everything we could possibly need and every detail was carefully and thoughtfully considered - cold water in the fridge, tea/coffee (plunger), great selection of DVD’s, books, magazines, outdoor seating and bathroom products. Lovely garden. Detailed advice was provided by the hostess about eating places in Diamond Harbour.

Excellent care was taken by July. she is an amazing host. Must recommend to everyone. She picked farm fresh cherries from her beautiful garden for our daily breakfast. My daughter has a good time playing with the dog there!
