Breakfast was better than you can find anywhere locally. Views are phenomenal, sunset and sunrise. Host is friendly, interesting and easy to communicate with. Steady contact prior to entry and fun chats with staying.

Very comfortable and spacious with incredible views of the countryside and Christchurch. Scrumptiously prepared hot breakfast! Our host was so warm and welcoming, and she provided us with great recommendations for the next stages of our journey.

Great view, private, lovely garden

I’m a chicken about driving in mountains and windy roads, but my husband isn’t, so he did all the driving.

The residence was absolutely lovely, and Brenda even more so! The residence was clean, tidy, and had a personal touch. Brenda was very accommodating to my late arrival, and was even more accommodating the following morning by providing breakfast and making me a coffee. Brenda is very lovely to interact with, and gave us plenty of great recommendations for places to visit which added a local touch to it! Brenda's place felt cosy, safe, and home away from home. If the residence and the views don't convince you to book, Brenda's amazing hospitality, friendly and loving character are plenty of reasons to stay at Brenda's place! Brenda made us feel at home immediately. She was a font of knowledge on Christchurch and her area. Breakfast was delightful. The view from the house is like looking out from a window in an aeroplane.

We had a wonderful stay overlooking the estuary and city of Christchurch in modern homely & comfortable accommodation. Brenda is a wonderful host and served us amazing full breakfasts each morning. We can recommend this stay for visitors with their own vehicle as it is a 20 minute drive into the CBD.

Our hostess was delightful! We felt like we were staying with a dear friend. The accommodations were absolutely perfect. In fact we enjoyed it so much that we spent a significant amount of time there instead of going in to Chch to do tourist stuff! There are stunningly beautiful hilltop walks within 5 minutes of the house. We stayed for 3 nights and were very sad to leave. My husband and I both adored Brenda, her dog Frankie, our room, the entire house and the wonderful breakfast and snacks.

It was perfect.

Loved the whole experience and Brenda’s fabulous personality and attention to details! We’d love to come back.

Mrs. Brenda is an excellent host, she really takes care for her guests. Breakfasts are top, all from the home garden. The whole property has very high standards regarding sustainability. A lot of tips what to do, where to go. Expectations waaay exceeded. Location superb. Close to CC centre or to Sumner beach……

Beautiful accomodation and garden perched high on the hills above the city. We arrived in the evening to spectacular veiws over the city lights, estuary and Cantebury coastline. The bed was very comfortable. The spacious shared living area was very cosy and welcoming including plenty of pats with sweet Frankie the labrador. We felt right at home as soon as we arrived. Brenda the owner of the property was a fabulous hostess and very helpful. Very convenient location for lunch or dinner at either Lyttleton or Sumner. We will definitely stay again when visiting Christchurch.

We stayed here our first night in New Zealand after long travels from the east coast of the US. The host made soup which was perfect for us to relax that first night. The stay was a wonderful start to our trip to New Zealand.

Wonderful outlook and a perfect host, with a very comfortable and homely environment.

The owner, Brenda, was very friendly and welcomed us into her home. It was very comfortable and she made sure we had everything we needed. We loved the little personal touches of flowers in our room and the choice of teas and coffee. The bed was super comfy. The garden was beautiful with a stunning view of Christchurch and the ocean and we could see Kaikoura in the distance. Breakfast was very good with homemade granola, home grown stewed fruit and homemade jams as well as cooked options. Brenda is a really lovely lady and made us feel very much at home. We also made friends with Frankie her black Labrador.

Brenda is the most welcoming host you can imagine. Her lovely house has amazing views over the city, and she does everything in her power to make you feel like home. The bed is really comfortable and the breakfast is big and healthy. If you love dogs: get ready for cuddling Frankie - the perfect black lab that adores belly rubs.

This accommodation clearly shows a picture of a kitchen, we wished to self cater. The day prior to our visit I noticed that the description made no note of a kitchen. I questioned this with Brenda who said ‘The Kitchen is part of the living room,I have put a stop to people using my kitchen, as too many, near accidents’. In addition she said; ‘I see you haven't paid Booking .Com, does that mean you are paying me in cash?’ Because we were self catering and also being asked that we pay by cash which we don’t carry we cancelled. I asked Brenda to waive the 50% cancellation fee because the description was incorrect and that the payment terms have changed. She never replied and I still got charged.

Total rip off, listing was incorrect, Host chose to take a 50% fee.

Fantastic position. Beautifully appointed - a true home from home. Every comfort had been thought of. The use of a sitting room was a great benefit. The views from Bea’s house are something to behold. Freshly cut flowers in the bedroom and bathroom were a lovely touch. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit from Bea’s garden, homemade granola and jams, and scrambled eggs or freshly made corn fritters. In fact, Bea had thought of everything we might need to make our stay comfortable.

You will be living at Brenda’s house as you stay, sharing the living and dining room. The views and the garden are stunning and the house is beautifully and tastefully decorated. Brenda is a fantastic host (a one-off 😉), very welcoming and helpful. Welcoming and entertaining people is just natural for her. The homy feeling will get to you. Franckie, her Labrador, makes the feeling even stronger. The rooms are perfect. The quality of the bedding is lovely and comfortable. And there will always be a little fresh flower somewhere to enhance the experience . Don’t miss Breakfast, it is majestic!

This stay completed my travel! Brenda is so nice and happy to introduce everything here, from the mountains to the restaurants. It helped me feel the local culture and life style, let alone the beautiful landscape including mountains, ocean and cities.

The best bnb ever - stay here if you possibly can. This is an amazing place, very unique with eclectic collection of qualuty furnishings that just works incredibly well. The host is a 'people person' and an absolute joy. The old saying 'arrive as strangers leave as friends' is true here. Additionally everything a traveller could possibly need (and more) has been provided. The views are absolutely outstanding, and it is nice to be overlooking Christchurch to have the city on your doorstep, but to stay in a quality place and location away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Frankie, the dog, is very sweet and very undemanding and placid.

The view is amazing. The house is filled with flowers, books and art. It’s so gorgeous! Oh, and there’s a black lab named Frankie! Brenda was the best host you could ever ask for (especially after the yucky farm stay we’d stayed the night before). In fact, when we pulled up here we thought it must be a scam as this place is spectacular! Breakfast was so delicious and I don’t normally eat breakfast.

We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the property and the host, Brenda, was wonderful! We arrived relatively late and had out choice of two rooms, which were shown to us by Brenda. Both rooms were clean and wonderfully appointed, with cozy blankets and beautiful towels in the bathroom. We loved the cozy nature of the shared spaces and being welcomed into the property with such warmth. The only surprise was the dog, which for those who are not comfortable could be an issue, but we loved the homeliness it added to the property. We were offered many different recommendations for the area of Christchurch, including food and sights, all of which helped us during our stay. Our breakfast was also delightful, many locally-sourced ingredients for jams, fruit on cereals and the eggs were prepared extremely well, all enjoyed with a spectacular view. We had a wonderful time staying with Brenda, and we will certainly stay again when we are in the region.

The location being on a hill is best accessible with car access, which could be a negating feature for some, however that adds to the charm of the location. If you are not comfortable with dogs and the associated hair, then make sure that you communicate this as it wasn't clear in the description of the property, however does show that it is someone's home being shared.

Brenda gave us a very warm welcome with something to drink. Which was nice after our journey. She gave us several suggestions for restaurants and things to do in and around Christchurch. Our room and the breakfasts were very good. If possible, we will come back.

It was to short.

Brenda's place is like a peaceful paradise. The views are to die for. The rooms are a good size and the bed is very comfortable. But those things are only a portion of whats so special about this accommodation. Brenda's care and personal touches make you feel very pampered. Her breakfast is put together with so much love and care, with beautiful home made preserves, cereals, custard, yogurt and fresh bread. Her beautiful home is full of surprises that treat all of the senses. We would love to come back some day.
