Ze geven tips, komen een praatje maken en regelen wat voor je als je het nodig hebt. Ze begroeten je met je naam, wat het heel persoonlijk maakt. Het uitzicht vanaf het balkon is adembenemend. Het ontbijt maken ze zelf en smaakt echt heel lekker. Je kunt kiezen uit 4 verschillende gerechtjes.

Reviewed Aug 9, 2026Die Eigentümer sind außerordentlich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Zimmer sind persönlich und freundlich gestaltet. Man spürt die gestaltende Hand der Eigentümerin. Die Terrasse ist ein Traum. Das Frühstück ist unbeschreiblich gut. Die beiden Betreiber geben sich große Mühe, den Gästen den Tag zu einem Verwöhn-Tag zu machen. Die Lage bietet einen tollen Blick über die Bucht. Das Zentrum ist in 5 Gehminuten zu erreichen.

Voor ons niets. Misschien als je wat ouder bent dat je met de koffer wel een trap op moet.

Location is perfect for a walk to the main Street and it's shops and restaurants. Francois was excellent at recommending restaurants and interesting places to go. As other reviews probably testify the breakfasts are amazing.
No aircon in room but fan helped it remain comfortable.

Marinda sind die jüngsten nicht aber sie geben sich für ihre Gäste die größte Mühe allen Wünschen nachzukommen! Die sichere Lage nur 2 Querstraßen vom Zentrum entfernt ließ abendliche Spaziergänge zu! Insgesamt war Plettenberg eine positive Überraschung!
Leider gabs keine Aircon und dadurch war es sehr heiß nachts - das wäre das einzige!

Reviewed Mar 7, 2026De ligging is practisch in het stadje en een veilige buurt. Een heerlijk guesthouse met erg lieve mensen die een fantastisch ontbijt voor ons hebben gemaakt. Het huis is heel mediterraan ingericht met volop zitjes en prachtig uitzicht op de baai van Plettenberg. Je voelt je er snel thuis. Alles staat klaar om tussendoor nog iets te drinken. Het stadje is heel leuk met volop moderne winkels en cafe's. Wij vinden het een absolute aanrader.

Immer mit einem frischen Obstsalat und danach gibt es unterschiedliche Varianten. Mein Favorit war Lachs mit pochiertem Ei, Avocado und Salatbeilage. Der Balkon mit Blick auf die Berge und die Plettenberg Bay einfach wunderschön.

There was secure parking, and a common dining area with a microwave and utensils for self-cooking. The breakfast was very good too. But the highlight of our stay was the hosts — Francois and Marinda were the sweetest. They made our time in Plettenberg Bay a million times more memorable.

Das von den Gastgeber bereitet Frühstück war extrem lecker und sehr abwechslungsreich. Herrlich der Ausblick von der Terrasse. Sehr gut ist auch die Lage, weil die Geschäfte und die Restaurants sehr gut zu Fuß erreichbar sind. Wir hatten ein paar wunderschöne Urlaubstage in Plettenberg Bay.

From the moment you arrive, you feel genuinely welcomed and completely at home. They are the kind of hosts everyone hopes for – warm, thoughtful, and simply outstanding. The rooftop terrace offers a beautiful view, and breakfast up there is a real treat. Each morning began with a fresh homemade fruit starter, and everything they served was delicious. They also have an incredibly sweet and relaxed dog named Jessie. They also shared fantastic tips for the next part of our journey (Nanaga :)). The location is ideal for exploring the area, with restaurants and supermarkets just a short walk away. All in all, a place we’d return to in a heartbeat.

Das Frühstück ist einfach brilliant und war das beste auf unserer ganzen Reise. Die Lage der Unterkunft ist perfekt, nur ca. 5-10 Gehminuten bis zum Ortskern inkl. Restaurants. Das Zimmer ist sehr sauber und bietet alles was man für einen Aufenthalt benötigt. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Reviewed Oct 25, 2025Wir waren 3 Tage im Franmarel bei Francois und Marinda. Die beiden sind wundervolle und unfassbar herzliche Gastgeber, die ihren Gästen das bestmögliche Erlebnis in Plettenberg Bay und Umgebung schaffen möchten. Sie stehen immer mit Vorschlägen und Ratschlägen zur Seite. Das Frühstück war traumhaft lecker und wurde immer sehr ansprechend angerichtet. Man konnte aus 4 Menüs wählen, wobei jedes Menü noch einen fruchtigen ersten Gang enthielt, der täglich anders angerichtet wurde. Das Zimmer ist sehr sauber, individuell gestaltet und top ausgestattet. Man kann darüberhinaus auch den großen Balkon nutzen, von dem man einen wunderschönen Ausblick auf das Meer und die Berge hat. Das ganze Haus ist sehr geschmackvoll und mit einem durchgehenden Seaside-Stil ausgestattet, bei dem man sich direkt wie Zuhause fühlt. Wir haben die Zeit im Franmarel sehr genossen und können es nur jedem wärmstens an Herz legen auch mal dort zu übernachten. Vielen Dank Marinda und Francois!

Eles nos recebem como se fôssemos hóspedes na casa deles, eles mesmos fazem o café da manhã, que é mais do que perfeito, e ainda nos ajudam com dicas de passeios e lugares para conhecer. É simplesmente perfeito!!!

Wir haben uns wie bei Oma und Opa gefühlt, behütet und umsorgt. Die Ausstattung des Zimmers und der Küche, die Aussicht von der Terrasse auf das Meer und in die Berge, alles war perfekt. Reviewed Jun 21, 2025The breakfasts were top notch. We were spoilt for choice. Presentation mouth-watering. Could not have asked for more. Our hosts, Francois and Marinda made us feel so welcome. They are gracious and attentive and are a mine of information regarding places to visit and restaurants to try. The location is ideal, near shops and quiet and peaceful. The view from our room and the deck is absolutely stunning.
There was absolutely nothing we did not like. This was our envisaged and perfect weekend getaway.

Reviewed Mar 27, 2025Francois and Mari are amazing people, they cannot do enough for you, the breakfast is lovely, too much really 😀 the room is a good size and very clean, beautiful views from the breakfast/chill out area. We loved our stay and will definitely revisit.

Reviewed Mar 18, 2025We were in the green room and it was very comfortable. The hosts were lovely and obviously take great pride in what they do. The breakfasts were generous and very good. Location was excellent with many restaurants within easy walking distance. Highly recommended.

Reviewed Mar 16, 2025FranMAREL is in a quiet part of town, easily and safely walkable to lots of restaurants . Francoise and Marinda are perfect hosts. You feel as though the place is yours but they are there if you need them, from dinner reservations to the most amazing breakfast.

Reviewed Jan 19, 2025Francois and Marinda were amazing hosts, welcoming us and offering advice and guidance on local beaches, restaurants etc. Property was very well located for Main St and would recommend car or Uber to beach, as distance is not great but hills are steep. Property was safe, clean, with a choice of breakfast offerings, the ‘Plankie’ was great ! Would happily return !

Reviewed Dec 31, 2024The room was well equipped. Only the bathroom is very small but still o. k. for one person. Therefore the price is a bit high in comparrison to other places. The view over Plettenberg Bay is great. Breakfast is fantastic!! The homemade platter was really great. Thank you for all the extras you offered like muffins and wishes for a save journey when I left.

Reviewed Sep 27, 2024Lovely room and very helpful hosts who took great care of us during our stay. The breakfasts are simply sensational and you certainly won't give hungry. There's also a separate kitchen/sitting area where you can use the microwave to heat up your own food if you wish. Location is a short walk from restaurants and shops.
Wifi connection not great, but it's a minor criticism and certainly doesn't affect the 10 rating.
