Reviewed Sep 3, 2026I only travel once a year to Pietermaritzburg and it is always a pleasure staying there. The room is very spacious and clean. The roads are not good in PMB, but it is not the guesthouse's responsibility.

Reviewed Mar 11, 2026The hosts were so kind and the accommodations were excellent. I stayed at the beginning and end of a trip to the Drakensberg and would have loved to have stayed longer. The breakfast provided was delicious and plentiful and the staff were amazing. I hope to return to this bit of paradise and highly recommend it.

We had car troubles and were stranded in Pietermaritzburg for a few days, she went above and beyond—offering help and flexibility every step of the way. Her kind, and welcoming attitude made us feel right at home. The accommodation matched her energy; we enjoyed the stay thoroughly, despite our tough situation, the peaceful garden and views of the mountains and city added to the stay. The area felt safe, too, allowing us to enjoy relaxing walks nearby.

I can't recall a thing I did not like. The room wasn't well sound insulted though, so too much noise could disturb other guests

The location was perfect for us as it is located close to the Athletics stadium where my son was taking part. The rooms were spacious, spotless and very comfortable. I highly recommend this guesthouse!

The location was absolutely ideal being 5-7 min away from St Charles College in a safe suburb of Pietermaritzburg. You can't go wrong with Hamilton's!!
