The room we received was perfect. Nothing to fault.

Quiet, not overlooked, high quality - hosts were exceptional - really friendly, helpful and breakfast was lovely.

Beautiful property, great location and wonderful hosts. Wish we could have stayed longer , a great location to enjoy the town and the region.

Everything is amazing! The property is beautiful, the hosts are very genuine and helpful. Breakfast is delicious, better than in any of the cool cafes in town. The courtyard is a hidden spot to relax and the breakfast in the garden is something that will stay with us as a fond memory of our trip to South Africa! Thank you Guido and Erna for your hospitality!

There is nothing not to be liked!

Das Cottage liegt sehr ruhig in einem wunderschönen liebevollen gestalteten Garten, das Zentrum des Ortes ist fussläufig in 10 Minuten zu erreichen. Auch das Cottage selbst war mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Frühstück gab es an einem großen Tisch gemeinsam mit den anderen Gästen (es sind 2 Cottages) im Garten. Von Müsli, über die englische Variante bis hin zu einem Special des Tages - es fehlte an nichts und schmeckte wunderbar. Bezahlt wurde in bar (Rand oder Euro).

Great location and wonderful hosts. The property had everything you needed including a super comfy bed and pillows. The breakfast was just delicious.

The pool was not as expected

Beautiful accommodation, bathroom and gardens. The hosts were extremely friendly ..so were the family cats. Breakfast was super delicious and homecooked. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend.

We had a couple of lovely days here. The property itself is stunning – set just off the main property – an immediate sense of calm generated by the layout/ décor. Erna and Guido were great hosts (massive shout out on the breakfast!) – giving good tips and interesting information about their time in the country. Really recommend you stay here when in SA wine country. Thank you both!

The setting was magical, we had a beautiful peaceful space to retreat and rest. The hosts went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcome. The breakfasts were special, the coffee delicious. The decor is top notch. Lovely pool (although too cold when we were there). Would recommend highly.

This gorgeous bed and breakfast has 2 rooms for guests in a cottage house behind the family's main home. The location is perfect, easy to walk into town and SO close to the wine tram. The apartment was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable with every amenity you could ask for. Due to rain, the family hosted us in their own home for breakfast, which was absolutely fabulous- I would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful property in a quiet area of a delightful neighbourhood. Lovely gardens with use of the pool, & the cottage is spacious & has its own private patio. Great hosts.

The shower only has an overhead “rain shower” which can not be angled or repositioned, so the addition of a hand held /flexible shower attachment (either in the shower cubicle OR by the bath) would have been great.

Wow, a hidden gem in Franschhoek! Erna and Guido are amazing hosts, with great personalities and eye for detail. The breakfast served in the garden, was the best we've experienced in South Africa so far. The cottage is super cute, very comfy and walking distance from all the shops and restaurants! We recommend this place wholeheartedly and we hope to come back soon!

Such a beautiful cottage, very thoughtfully decorated and lots of little special touches from our hosts. As others have commented breakfast is very special. Great location and very safe walking into the village for dinner or wine tram. Decor very tasteful, crisp white sheets and towels, coffee machine and honesty fridge in the room. Very private for swimming and enjoying the garden. Hosts very attentive.

The Cottage on 55 was warm and inviting, breakfast was incredible, the hosts were friendly and accommodating and the location to downtown Franschhoek was perfect. We are so happy to have found this charming b&b! I only wish we could have had more time.

Everything! Beautiful setting, high quality building, furnishing and fittings, and very spacious with our own private terrace area and use of the shared pool. Just a few minutes walk from the wine tram, the village with its bars and restaurants and several wine farms.

The hosts were lovely and accommodating. The property is clean and is in a great location as you can walk to the Franschhoek Wine Tram (5 minutes away) and other restaurants in the area. It’s quite safe as well.

The Cottage on 55 is a prime example of a B&B. The arrival was very friendly, we were warmly welcomed. The complex is beautiful with a garden, everything is super clean and very well maintained. The room was a dream and lovingly decorated. The breakfast was extremely tasty and prepared a la minute; we had the best poached egg of our trip. The hosts Erna and Guido are always available, very welcoming and happy to give tips for exploring the area. The world needs more Ernas and Guidos, we would give 11 points if we could. Absolutely brilliant stay! Great location, delicious breakfast and very friendly hosts that gave us great tips for exploring the area. Highly recommend.

Everything about this property was incredible. The hosts were so interesting to chat to and gave us a lot of information about Franschhoek. Conveniently located across the road and one street up from the Wine Tram. The garden is a beautiful setting with citrus trees and a cute little corner to catch the afternoon sun if you're having a relaxing day. The breakfasts are definitely worth a mention, a lovely selection of fresh fruit and cereal and with further freshly prepared dishes such as pastries, french toast, scrambled egg bagels, or whatever else is on the menu that day! Would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone going to Franschhoek and I will certainly be back on my next visit!

The hosts were absolutely amazing! They went over and above to make us feel welcome. The breakfast was better than most restaurants, and being locals, we didn't feel the level of care differed from what overseas guests would experience. We would definitely stay there again!

The breakfasts were incredible seriously the best I have ever had. The room was superb and the hosts just so friendly and made our stay welcoming.

Charming and very comfortable cottage in back garden of the hosts’ house. Excellent and varied breakfast. Appreciated the nespresso machine and fridge in the room. Location on outskirts of Franschhoek but only 10 min walk to centre. We felt safe walking this route day and evening after dark. Street parking was easy.

Property is cash only. This was resolved with ease on arrival using a debit app but would have preferred to have option to pay with credit card.

Erna and Guido shared their lovely home in Franschhoek with us. The two rooms are in the garden of their house, where we also had breakfast on the first day (where the weather was permitting). They take care of us themselves and served us an incredible breakfast with a changing surprise of the day. Putting so much passion and effort for only two rooms shows how they live their Guesthouse. Definitely a recommendation and we look forward to come back again soon.

Our expectations were not only met, but exceeded. So i can't really think of anything we didn't like.

Guido and Erna are superb welcoming hosts, they have created such an easy going but professional vibe. The room we had was so comfortable and very stylish every thing you would need, The breakfasts are fantastic freshly prepared and every morning there is a surprise. They are amongst the best we have experienced not only in the Cape but anywhere!

There was a crocodile in the pool! (ok it was plastic..ha, ha) Truthfully nothing..

Great location, pretty room, quiet and comfortable

The room was spacious, well appointed and had a lovely garden to sit and relax in. It was very close to an array of shops and restaurants. Both the owners are delightful and very helpful when we had a problem.

Very cute Guesthouse with awesome hosts and an exceptional breakfast. A lot of restaurants are in walking distance. We would 100% stay here again!

What a wonderful place! Excellent location in walking distance to town and the Winetram. Hosts were exceptional with tasty breakfasts each day . We will definitely be going back .

Just delicious. The personal touches that Erna did with the little flowers on the food, mint in the water, table decorations, etc etc nothing was too much trouble. The cooked breakfast was always a surprise & delicious. Guido was also a very good host with chatting to us & the other guests & fixing of lights in our bathroom as the bulb had blown. Our room was lovely, extremely relaxing, beautifully clean excellent linen & an extremely comfortable bed. A lovely view out to the pretty garden. We will certainly be going back.

Communication. Because the only number on the Booking .com site was to the land line; no answer went to straight to asking me to leave a message which I did. I did send an email which was responded to very quickly. Also, Erna kindly emailed me the day of our arrival saying our room would be ready & we would be met by Chrissy. A cell phone number would have been useful on the site as an alternative back up.

Erna and Guido were great hosts. We looked forward to breakfast everyday as it was beautifully prepared and lovely food. The room had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We had a great time !

There was a weather bomb while staying and although Erna and Guido had a flooded business downtown and a flooded garage at their house they were so careful to ensure our needs for food and drink and ongoing travel arrangements were all met. Such lovely caring and friendly people and the breakfasts were amazing.

We had an incredible stay at the Cottage on 55! We ended up extending our stay because we loved it so much. Guido and Erna were exceptionally thoughtful hosts and Erna’s breakfasts were out of this world!! The location of the property was walking distance to the best restaurants and the wine tram, and Guido and Erna offered many great recommendations for the area. We couldn’t recommend the Cottage on 55 more!!

This place is absolutely stunning. The cottage had such a lovely relaxing feel to it, the host had gone to a lot of effort with lots of little additional extras that gave it a perfect finishing touch. The hosts are incredibly professional, welcoming and the breakfast was unbelievable! I would have loved to have stayed another night.

Only a minor thing, the TV wasnt logged into any accounts like Netflix to watch a movie as it was raining but no big deal.
