República Guest House

Das Zimmer ist sehr individuell und gemütlich eingerichtet. Das Bett ist hervorragend (ja ich weiß, ist natürlich immer eine subjekte Wahrnehmung). Das kleine Badezimmer ist anscheinend nachträglich ins Zimmer integriert worden, bietet aber trotzdem genügend Platz. Die Begrüßung durch den Gastgeber ist sensationell und sehr persönlich. So eine Erfahrung habe ich selten gemacht. Er wartete sogar vor dem Haus, um uns bei der Parkplatzsuche zu helfen. Später gab es bei einem kalten Getränk noch viele Infos über Coimbra. Beim Frühstück gibt es nichts zu beanstanden. Die Lage des Hauses ist sehr zentral. Die Unterkunft ist ein renovierter Altbau und hat unglaublich viel Charme. Geparkt wurde an der Straße.

Eine Kleinigkeit: Da der alte Charakter des Hauses bewahrt wurde, ist es etwas hellhörig durch die alten Zimmerantüren. Man kann es durchaus hören,, wenn morgens jemand auf dem Flur geht.

When you approach the property you might think it is nothing special. Then when Graca opens the door, you enter a beautiful guest house decorated in a beautiful style and the warmest welcome I have ever received! Graca and Joao truly make you a part of the Republica Guest House family. They introduce every guest by name. They offer drinks to enjoy on the lovely patio or sitting room. The air conditioning worked perfectly and the room was quiet and comfortable with the doors shut. But by far, what made the experience were the amazing hosts!

Beautiful old property. Our room had everything we needed including a very comfortable bed. We were made to feel very welcome and shown around the property. The kitchen had a coffee machine, fridge etc available for guests. Graca was a wonderful host! She recommended places to visit as well as dinner suggestions. We were able to park on the street nearby.

Everything was great! Graca the host was super sweet, welcoming and knowledgeable. She explained everything about what we could do in Coimbra, and guide us to where to go. The property is beautiful, nice spacious room, nicely decorated. Delicious homemade breakfast, with plenty of options. Very well located. We would recommend to anyone staying in Coimbra.

Gracia and her daughter Sara made us feel truly welcome during the two days we stayed with them. From the moment we arrived, they greeted us with genuine smiles and outstanding hospitality. Gracia took the time to explain all the main attractions of Coimbra in detail and gave us excellent recommendations that made our visit even more enjoyable. The apartment is in a perfect location, with convenient parking right in front of the building. The highlight of our stay was the breakfast. There was a great variety of fresh, high-quality food, and you could really see the passion and care they put into everything they do. We highly recommend staying here and would gladly come back!

The place, the host and the breakfast are all amazing! The guest house is very close to the University area. I would definitely repeat if I go back to lovely Coimbra.

We had a perfect stay for our family for two nights in Coimbra. The hosts, Graca & Joao were incredibly welcoming, and they made us feel like part of the family from the moment we arrived. The guest house was absolutely gorgeous, beautifully decorated, with each room furnished individually and tastefully. Breakfast each morning was delicious and generous, and it was a wonderful way to start the day. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend this guest house to anyone looking for a warm, comfortable, and memorable stay in Coimbra.

Exceptional service. Owner personally greeted me when i arrived. I was invited to sit outside on the patio and relax with a cold tonic an orange after a full day and evening traveling. They served a delicious and nutritious breakfast that kept me going for most the day. Clean and bright atmosphere.

The location is right at the centre, which made it even more important given the heat. I was able to take a walk and stop by the hotel for a little nap. Breakfast was in such a cozy room and home made. Everything about the hotel is so sweet and the Graça, Graca's niece and Sandra are amazing people.

What a perfect stay! We were greeted by Graca who is the kindest person. She went out of the way to help us and made us feel so at home. Her enthusiasm and love for what she does shows in every detail. Rooms are beautifully appointed with consideration of all possible needs. The outdoor patio space is lovely. And the breakfast…oh, the breakfast! An incredible spread of breads, cheeses, jams, fruit, yogurt, and eggs made to order. While the guest house is absolutely lovely, it is the impecable hospitality and friendly ways of the hostess make this such a special place!

This is a lovely guesthouse that is beautifully appointed with attention to every detail. The patio is a wonderful space and the breakfast is amazing- bread, pastries, cheese, yogurt, fresh fruit, and eggs made to order. However, the very best part about staying here is the kind, friendly hostess. She went out of her way to help us when our bus was running late. Graca’s positive energy and love for what she does is contagious. I am so grateful that we found this guesthouse! Highly recommend.

I had a great stay at Republica Guest House. The hosts were absolutely lovely - so warm and friendly and welcoming. My room was fabulous and it was so nice to have a big ensuite. Cleanliness was to the highest standard. The breakfast was gorgeous also.

Thankfully my accommodation was lovely, but I sadly did not enjoy Coimbra.

Our host was very friendly and knowledgeable about the sights to visit. The breakfast was delicious and made with love. :0)

Graça ist eine außergewöhnliche Gastgeberin, die Freundlichkeit in Person. Ihre Ratschläge waren sehr hilfreich und kompetent. Das República liegt ideal, um Coimbra nur zu Fuß zu erkunden. Das Frühstück ist top, die weichen Eier perfekt! ;-) Jederzeit ein Kaffee oder ein Glas Portwein, das muß man erst einmal woanders finden! Sollten wir wieder einmal in diese Stadt kommen ist die Unterkunft keine Frage! Abrigado Graça!

An exceptional stay in a charming guest house! Graça & João were like family members, making us feel as if we were staying in our own home. Maria was also friendly and helpful. Energetic and personable Graça opened up her entire accommodation to us, including the kitchen, garden and parlor, inviting us to consume whatever we wanted (delicious Port wine, beer, water, coffee/tea, fruit) and offering use of her refrigerator. She also allowed us to leave our two suitcases in the house on the day of checkout while we did more sightseeing. We were treated and trusted like family. The location was safe and excellent, breakfast was even better, including eggs Graça personally made to order, local meats and cheeses, fresh breads and homemade preserves. We would unhesitatingly stay again and recommend República Guest House without reservation.

The breakfast was superb! There was fresh orange juice every morning along with fruit, yogurt, different choices of cooked eggs, cheese, assorted breads. The owners, Graça and João, were very interesting, helpful, and great at conversation. We loved our stay there and will stay again whenever we are in Coimbra.

If you visit Coimbra during the term or semester, the students can be a little noisy at night (like every college town). But it all quiets down around midnight so it did not bother us at all.

We had a wonderful experience during our stay. The host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, sharing recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was generous and delicious. The location is close enough to walk to all the main attractions in the historic center. We would happily return.

La habitación no tenía un armario para dejar las maletas o la ropa.

Café da manhã excelente (melhor suco de laranja que já bebi em toda a minha vida!), a simpatia da Graça e do João foram tudo! A localização é perfeita, perto da Universidade e de bares e restaurantes.

Tudo foi ótimo, mas o quarto poderia ter mais pontos para se pendurar coisas.

Un allotjament familiar, La Grasa (persona que et reb), super atenta , ens ha ajudat a buscar aparcamenmt per el cotxe. Un ambient com si fossim a casa deixant-nos utilitzar la cuina i donant-nos la possibilitat de prendre begudes o fruita que tenia a la nevera. El llit supercomode. L’unic “pero” es que no pots escollir l’hora d’esmorzar, en canvi aquest va ser bonissim. Tot amb molts detalls, la Grassa, et preparava al moment el suc o els ous o el que volguessis perque estava en tpot moment perque tu estiguessis superbe. Recomanable 100per 100

Wonderful place. Graça, the owner, was so attentive. She suggested visits,restaurants, etc. Of our 3 weeks in Portugal this was our favorite b&b. We stayed 3 days and could easily have stayed longer. Thanks again Graça for making our stay wonderful.

The location was excellent. The room was comfortable and the decor was delightfully eclectic. The host was so welcoming and helpful. She ensured we understood where to park, gave us information in sightseeing and restaurant choices. Breakfast was very good and the host even surprised my wife with a birthday cake and song! What a gem! This place exceeded our expectations by far. Everything was excellent. Hospitality, cleanenes, attention to detail, comfort, location, breakfast. You feel welcomed the moment you step inside. The hosts are very generous as well. It is one of those places that you don’t want to leave and regret not booking for longer. Graça and João are incredible, seems like they geniously enjoy their work in hospitality industry.

This is one of five available rooms for rent by the owner, whose family has owned this building for some time. More an air BNB feel than a hotel. Owner SUPER nice, caring/accommodating. Location fantastic for us. Great breakfast!

The guesthouse is located fairly near the university and there was parking available on the street.

One of the few places that we encountered and stayed at on our numerous travels that surpass expectations. Empecable cleaneness, tasteful decor with great attention to detail, comfort of the room with luxurious beds and nice bathroom with hot showers. Delicious and abundant breakfast, generosity of the hosts and above all HOSPITALITY. The location of the house and the cost are unbeatable! One of those places that you wish you would have booked for longer.

Everything! Graça is a consummate hostess - meticulous detail throughout the property/rooms. Her warmth, charm & love of Portugal/Coimbra were infectious. & the breakfasts?? Perfect & delicious.
