Nova Zembla

Het was exact wat we nodig hadden voor ons 2 een dochter van 5 en een baby. De eigenaars hebben zelf voor een reisbed gekeken en dit werd zeker geapprecieerd. Ook de architectuur en het interieur vonden wij zeer smaakvol.

Een airco die werkt had welkom geweest, want als ik mij niet vergis, hing er een. Maar ik moet er zeker bij zeggen, het was dan ook uitzonderlijk warm die periode (38°).

Hoe kun je van een pechgeval iets moois maken? De accomodatie had de pech dat er een probleem was met het warm water. Er werd echter een alternatief bedacht met een prachtige kamer in hun naastgelegen pand en een gratis ontbijt aangeboden. De kamer was prachtig, het ontbijt was werkelijk heerlijk met fantastische vleeswaren en bijzondere kazen. Wij hebben genoten en de gastvrouw heeft alles uit de kast gehaald om een heerlijk verblijf mogelijk te maken.

Completa atencion muy cercana y cariñosa , estsn en cada uno de los detalles, anfitriones perfectos.ademas la vivienda acovedofa , espaciosa, calida , muy bien ubicada de transperte publico, supermercados y centro.

David war sehr freundlich, ich konnte vor dem Check-In mein Gepäck dort deponieren, das war sehr hilfreich. Das Zimmer ist sehr geräumig und sauber. Im kleinen Kühlschrank gab es leckeres lokales Bier, und auch Kaffeekapseln und Teebeutel waren da! Auschecken war unkompliziert. Ich würde jederzeit wieder dort wohnen, es hat mir gut gefallen!

Ons verblijf was in zijn geheel genomen een uitstekende ervaring. Als we nog eens in Mechelen zullen overnachten zullen we zeker eerst kijken of dit verblijf vrij is.

We zijn maar één nachtje gebleven en tijdens die korte periode is ons niets negatiefs opgevallen.

The room was clean and well equipped and in ‘as new’ condition yet in an historic area. The trim was centrally situated in an excellent and welcoming city. The hospitality and welcome from Ann and David was first class.

We like everything about the property - maybe tv instructions could be clearer but this is a really minor point.

Super schön & nett eingerichtete Unterkunft. Die Unterkunft liegt stadtnah, es ist alles gut zu Fuß erreichbar. Durften sogar über die Checkputzeit hinaus bleiben, sehr nette Besitzer. Sind vollkommen zufrieden.

The owner, Ann, was extremely helpful and friendly. It is a very good location, a few mins walk from the train station and the city centre, and a convenience store just down the street. The bed was comfy, and the room was very well decorated. The check in process was very personal and helpful, with Ann giving us lots of advice about the area.

Beetje te koud op de kamer.

I liked the proximity to the train station, to town and yet it was very quiet. Was not difficult to find. The fridge and tea station was fantastic!

Ons verblijf was zalig, hebben genoten van het bad en van het super onbijt! de gastvrouw was uitermate vriendelijk en behulpzaam. zeker een aanrader!

Zeer vriendelijke ontvangst. We konden onze fietsen in de garage parkeren. Een lokaal biertje stond klaar in de koelkast. Grote kamer met authentieke elementen. Grote douche.

Die Vermieter waren sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Von außen mag es etwas unscheinbar sein. Davon aber auf keinen Fall abschrecken lassen. Innen war es sehr charmant, besonders wenn man antike Möbel mag. Aber auch sehr gut ausgestattet (Spezialbier vor Ort im Kühlschrank!) , sehr gut lärmisolierende Fenstern und lichtblockierende Vorhänge, angenehmes Bett. Die Lage war sehr gut, ruhig und trotzdem in Fußnähe des positiv überraschenden Zentrums.

Heel beperkt aanbod op de kamer, koffie beperkt tot 1/ dag, 1 suiker voor in de koffie voor 2 dagen, geen melk. Toiletgerief, beperkt in handdoeken en washandjes, 1 voor 2 dagen. Tv valt veel uit, verwarming maar op 12 graden...

Bathroom was lovely but not v practical. Not enough places to hang your clothes or towels. Stepping in and out of a high sided ( beautiful) bath was a little challenging. I have good core muscles but more physically challenged would need a handle or something to hold onto. I think that will come as seems newly renovated and everything else was quality.

Nova Zembla ligt dicht bij het treinstation en op een paar minuten van het centrum van Mechelen. In en uitchecken was gemakkelijk en de gastvrouw gaf tips over wat er te doen was. Er is een supermarkt en restaurantjes in de buurt. Het was fijn dat je thee en koffie kon zetten op de kamer en het was algeheel netjes en ruim. Daarnaast is Mechelen een hele mooie stad!

Onze 'buren' hadden een ander ritme dan wij. 's nachts werden we wakker van ze (mogelijk was het in de ochtend andersom).

De vriendelijkheid van Ann en David, de flexibiliteit in aankomst-, vertrek- en ontbijttijd. Wij wilden namelijk een beetje uit kunnen slapen i.v.m. bezoek aan Werchter Festival met de kids. De prettige en snelle communicatie bij vragen vooraf en tijdens verblijf. De hotelkamers zijn echt ontzettend stijlvol ingericht, de bedden slapen heerlijk en het is rustig en stil op de kamers. Tevens drankjes in de koelkast aangepast op leeftijd van gasten per kamer. Ook het ontbijt was aangepast op onze wensen en vond plaats in een hele stijlvolle privé kamer. De ligging is geweldig met gemak parkeer je ook de auto voor het hotel. Wij komen hier zeker nog eens terug.

Een klein minpuntje is dat een van de kamers enkel een bad (weliswaar een mooi bad) heeft met een handdouche. Het zou fijner zijn als je gewoon staand kunt douchen.

Mooie, ruime kamer die sfeervol is ingericht. De eigenaren zijn erg vriendelijk! De locatie is ook erg goed! Alles is op loopafstand.

Vanwege het hete weer van de afgelopen dagen was het wat warm. Toen we vroegen naar een ventilator hebben de eigenaren deze gebracht, dat was erg fijn 😊

Such a comfy bed, great shower, I felt very at home and looked after at the same time! David was super helpful and accommodating. It was an easy and enjoyable walk into town and very convenient for the train station.

The room was very comfortable, clean, cozy and near of everything. The owners were also really hospitable and wanting to know if everything was perfect. Impeccable treatment and receiving. I’ve definitely recommend Nova Zembla again if I you visit MECHELEN.

Lovely host gave valuable tips, great taste (just look at the pictures), spacious elegant room and bathtub, complimentary local beer and mineral water, high quality tea and coffee, fridge, tv, practical location near train station, supermarket and city gate, easy for walk into town

No fault of the hosts: - Street sign is not very readable, just ask the friendly locals - If you are still asleep at 10 in the morning you might hear the very loud voice of the person in the office below being on a phone call: better than an alarm clock :D

I've ordered a room but got an appartment) the duvet was the blanket was made of fluff like from my childhood, the bath was very big and comfortable

The room is as described - all comfy and neat. It was easy to find the hotel. The communication with Ann and David was also smooth.

Ann and David are very responsive and caring owners. Very convenient location to both the station and city centre. Very easy check-in procedure. Very clean and modern room set up. Absolutely recommended.

The room was beautiful. The location is perfect for getting around easily, but most of all the hosts are very exceptional people and we enjoyed getting to know them.

The room was clean and comfortable. The style of the furniture is really nice. Close to the train station, and to the city center with good public transport connections.

Great location, just 8 mins walk from rail station and around 15 minutes into the centre to see the sights - plenty of good quality cafes and restaurants en route. Super shower and comfy bed in a large room with good facilities. It was a nice touch that our hosts left some local beers and water in the fridge for us. Ann and David were also helpful with tips to make the most of our stay, both beforehand and during our stay. Recommended!

A fantastic hotel in a superb part of Mechelen, just minutes from the old town and the train station. Spacious, comfortable and oozing with character, the room didn't disappoint. Beautiful bathroom and en suite, huge windows, wooden furniture and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. David gave me a warm welcome and was always available to answer questions. He kindly lent me an ironing board, which I appreciated. I highly recommend this hotel. I'll certainly be back there next time I'm in Mechelen.

David was very nice and made me feel very welcome. Coffee water and a couple of beers were available for free. The room was very big and had been renovated recently.

There was no closet to hang my clothes. The one in the room was an old closet, just for decorative purposes. At least, I couldn't manage to open it.

The property is a short walk from the train station and a short walk from many points of interest.

I only have good things to say about staying here. It was great and I definitely recommend it.

The location of this room is perfect- we wanted to be near to the train station (a 5 min walk) but also near to the town (10 min walk). The owners offered us their own private garage to park in which was fantastic- we parked the car on arrival and didn't need to use it at all until we left to come home. The room was massive, it could easily accommodate the three of us, and having tea/coffee making facilities as well as a fridge was really useful. The owners were in contact before and throughout our stay, which made check-in and out very smooth.

It would have been nice to have a stand-up shower, as the shower is in the bath. Somewhere to hang towels in the bathroom, and bedside tables for the double bed would also be useful. That is all!
