MONSOON Eco Resort

Le jardin est magnifique, les chambres sont confortables et joliment décorées, Vishy est bienveillante avec un sourire éblouissant. Sa cuisine est délicieuse et plus élaborée que dans les restaurants courants. Elle commande les tuk-tuk , propose des activités, on a envie de rester longtemps dans ce bel endroit.

Dies ist ein wahres Juwel ins Sri Lanka. Auf unserer vierwöchigen Reise haben wir nichts so schönes und friedvolles gefunden. Reisen mit kleinen Kindern kann auch immer wieder anstrengend sein, aber hier haben wir Frieden gefunden. Schon beim betreten des Gartens hat man das Gefühl, man tritt in eine magische Welt ein. Egal wo man den Blick hin wendet, es ist alles liebevoll gestaltet und als die Besitzerin und willkommen hieß, konnte man sofort spüren, dass sie das Herzstück diese Anlage war. Die Küche ist sehr zu empfehlen, sehr feines Essen. Das Personal super freundlich. Das Häuschen sehr schön eingerichtet. Wir danken euch von ganzem Herzen für unseren Aufenthalt und werden ihn ganz besonders in Erinnerung behalten.

Endroit unique dans lequel on est plongés dès l’arrivée. Idéal pour profiter d’un lieu pour se reposer tout en étant proche d’Arugam Bay (15-20min en tuk tuk). Le lieu est situé juste à côté d’une plage accessible à pied où il est possible de prendre des leçons de surf pour débutants. Vichy et tout son staff était très agréable et chaleureux. Vichy nous a aidé à organiser notre safari dans le parc national de Kumana et les leçons de surf. La cuisine est délicieuse, nous avons eu notre meilleur repas au Sri Lanka lors de l’un des deux dîners.

Il pourrait être bien d’avoir accès aux prix des suppléments et des repas en avance plutôt qu’au moment de la facture finale. Le rapport qualité prix était justifié.

Gentillesse, petits déjeuners, cadre agréable, wifi performant, douche et sanitaire.

Ne faisant pas de surf, on est un peu loin d’Arugam baie (12 min en tuk tuk), et le lieu est isolé. La nuit, chiens et paysans font du bruit pour éloigner les éléphants des champs et habitations.

L’établissement est un petit coin de paradis, au milieu d’un jardin luxuriant où voltigent de nombreux papillons. Le lieu est calme et ressourçant. La cuisine est top, très recherchée.

Il est dommage que les nuits soient interrompues par la mosquée toute proche.

la chambre n'était pas toujours faite, nous avons eu ce souci dans un autre hotel, peut être une pratique courante au sri lanka mais très étonnant pour les voyageurs réguliers, partout les chambres sont faites tous les jours normalement ( au moins les lits, propreté de la sdb, refill de l'eau etc)

Magische plek, heel mooi en met zorg ingericht en aangekleed. Een stukje paradijs.

Het was heel erg warm, dus een zwembad werd af en toe wel gemist. Gelukkig konden we naar zee en een verfrissende duik nemen in een zwembad in een nabijgelegen resort.

Nous avons tout aimé ici: l'accueil et la gentillesse de nos hôtes, l'incroyable jardin tropical (le plus beau que nous ayons vu au cours de notre séjour), les délicieux repas maison, les petits déjeuners et le confort du bungalow spacieux et charmant.

Un très léger bémol: la plage à proximité est belle et sauvage mais peu appropriée à la baignade. Mais en prenant un tuk tuk pour Arugam Bay on passe une journée formidable.

Wat een paradijsje!! Heerlijk rustig maar dichtbij Arugan Bay waar je de drukte kan opzoeken. De huisjes zijn schoon en mooi ingericht. Het eten is heerlijk en de lieve host kan alles voor je regelen regelen. Van tuk tuks tot surfles tot lekkere drankjes. Heel erg bedankt voor dit fijne verblijf! We zullen jullie bij iedereen die er voor openstaat aanraden. If only there were more people like you, the world would be a better place!

La localisation est sans doute l'une des plus belles des environs d'Arugam Bay. Le jardin, à la fois sauvage, soigneusement pensé et harmonieusement aménagé, confère au lieu une atmosphère véritablement magique. Rares sont les adresses aussi authentiques qui permettent de vivre une expérience immersive, au plus près de la faune et de la flore, tout en restant à seulement quelques kilomètres de la baie, de ses restaurants et de ses lieux animés. Une magnifique plage, préservée et peu fréquentée, est accessible en moins de dix minutes à pied. Un véritable havre de paix pour les amoureux de nature, sans renoncer au confort et à l'animation d'Arugam Bay.

My boyfriend and me stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it. The garden is so beautiful and peaceful. As soon as we arrived we felt relaxed. Everything is made with so much love and attention to detail and it gives the whole place a very special atmosphere. The owner is very kind and welcoming. The food was simply amazing. It was honestly the best food we had during our whole trip. Every meal was freshly prepared and you could really taste how much care went into it. Thank you for making our stay so special. We would love to come back one day and can highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!

Vi älskade känslan som skapats på detta boende. Rummen var vackert dekorerade med härliga golv att gå på och utebadrummen kändes exotiska. Restaurangen är fantastisk både till utseende och till den mat som serveras. Det var ljuvligt att sitta där och se solen gå ned över ett litet risfält, känna doften av blommor och värme. Personalen och ägaren är oerhört vänliga och hjälpsamma. Vi rekommenderar detta boende starkt!

The staff, rooms and the breakfast were incredible. On top of that the owner Vishy was delightful, and incredibly fun to talk to. She ensured that we had a great time both at the resort and in Arugumbay town, giving us great advise on what to do. Truly an S tier Eco Resort, and a place that I would recommend to anyone.

Lovely guesthouse that's had a lot of care and thought put into into everything. Beautiful and peaceful place to relax and unwind. Food was delicious as well. Best designed outdoor bathroom. Any issues we brought up were immediately attended to. Definitely recommended.

This is a matter of preference (it wasn't an issue for us) but the one bedroom chalet has the toilet/shower downstairs, The route to the bathroom from your bedroom upstairs is in public view. Something to consider if you have an issue using the bathroom at night and have mobility issues or don't want to risk being observed enroute. Also coming out after a shower and wanting to go up and change in your room. As mentioned before, this was absolutely not an issue for us but just thought I'd mention as some people might want to factor this in before booking.

I loved my stay at Monsoon Eco Resort 💛 what a precious hidden gem - you will be staying in one of the most beautiful places that is so calm and peaceful- there is nature in abundance with the kindest owners and staff members. It feels like an oasis - nearby is the beach , a lovely local restaurant and the best massage therapist I’ve ever had . Vishy is an incredible host and it feels like you come as a stranger and leave as a family here 🌴🌴

Es war ein wunderschöner und ruhiger Ort, es hat uns super gut gefallen und wir sind auch ein paar Tage geblieben. Der Ort ist ideal, wenn man Ruhe sucht, die Natur bewundern oder ruhig surfen möchten.

Mein Freund hat gesagt, dass der Preis zu hoch war, aber ich fand es ok, weil es mir sehr gut gefallen hat. Die Wäschereinigung hat gut geklappt und sie haben uns bei allem gut weitergeholfen, beim Organisieren der Exkursionen und Tuk Tuk.

The hotel is stunning,. the room was massive and so beautiful We only stayed one night and it was lovely to just relax there. The lady who owns it is lovely. We walked to the beach and it's only 5 minutes away. It very quiet and quite remote so if you didn't have a car/bikes it might be difficult getting around. The food was great

We vonden het pure schoonheid. Het huisje was groot en met smaak en oog voor detail gebouwd en ingericht. De buitendouche vonden wij geweldig. De host was heel vriendelijk en het ontbijt en avondeten was heerlijk. We vonden het heerlijk om in de tuin te relaxen en tot rust te komen. Heel zen allemaal.

I think it’s a beautiful property, the food is good.

I dislike the fact that the host lied to me about my accommodation two months in advance. I had revise my booking dates instead of staying on the 15th to the 16th. I changed it to the 14th to the 15th. booking sent me a message that said it had been approved. I had emailed the host and they said it was approved. I had several documentation saying it was approved but when I showed up somebody was in The room that I booked. I had nowhere to go. It was 5:30 at night. My next day was at arugam Bay, which is about 20 to 30 minute drive away so I didn’t have the possibility to go there and their Internet wasn’t working so I was unable to cancel that booking. I told them that meant that I would be charged three times not only for the day that they had not been able to revise also, the day that I originally had and the place that I wasn’t able to go to because of this issue . They told me they wouldn’t charge me for one of the nights only the night that I was staying at their friends .The Internet wasn’t working at the neighboring hotel that they helped me find with their friend And I was unable to unlock my SIM card so I also didn’t have my own Internet and data. The next day I go back to their place and the Internet and their dining area doesn’t work, but it does work in my room. My fan on my last night stopped working in the middle of the night so I was burning up and had to sleep outside because it was too early to get a response back from them. Although they really could have a decent place it’s just poorly run and I don’t like being lied to, and then being told in my face that they actually never said that it’s gaslighting at its highest level.

Vishy, the owner, runs her business in an efficient way. This eco hotel has a huge and relaxing garden with many trees and flowers. There are not so many bungalows, thus ensuring quietness. There owner is kind, takes care of her clients and is well connected, which enables to do excursions or transfers in a smooth way. Food quality is good but prices are a bit too high. Arugam bay is reachable by tuk tuk in 15 minutes, and there is a beach 10 minutes walking for surf beginners.

Een liefdevolle plek. Mooi terrein schoon en geweldige buiten badkamer. Weg van (massa) toerisme in ArugamBay en dichtbij dé surfgolf van deze omgeving. Op de scooter op 15-20 minuutjes naar A.Bay. Maar wij bleven lekker hier. Mooi rustig strand op loopafstand, met leuk lokaal tentje voor je kokosnoot en fles water en lunch. AANRADER!!! Oh ja, eten bij Voshy is beste uit de omgeving - ze staat in de top 9 !!! En ze is enorm gastvrij!

Eigenlijk was alles wel top. Als deze plek direct aan zee had gelegen was het een 10 geweest!

The place has a really nice atmosphere, the hosts are incredible people, the food is amazing and it was really quiet. All the plants, the decorations, and how everything is well maintained makes a perfect place.

Everything. It’s absolutely stunning. Open bathrooms, beautiful rooms, farm to table food and above alll… the hospitality of the Owners. I felt like home.

We made a mistake the first night and booked a room without AC, but the owner was so good about finding us a new room, which we enjoyed so much we decided to stay 2 extra nights. Breakfast was the best we had on our trip. We’d definitely stay again. Location for us was great, as it was away from the business of Arugam Bay. We had a TukTuk so found it very easy to get about.

Some bugs, but we brought insect repellent and incense and spent most evenings outside very comfortably

Monsoon Eco Resort is a lovely place, when you're looking for a beautiful quite stay outside of the classical tourist locations. Vishy is a very friendly and courteous host, who put much effort in the little details and will help you with the organisation of everything you need. The kitchen is absolutely amazing, best food we had in Sri Lanka. Such a heartwarming space, we will miss Vishy and her helping Hands very much

The green ambience, it is a little oasis, off the touristic mainstream. Fantastic staff and food.

The mosquitos. The bed in the tree house could be a bit taller and the mosquito nett fixed at the bed frame.

A truley magical place to slow down and relax. Listening to birds while looking at the rice fields, watching butterflies flying around when sipping on your cappucino. Everyone is open-hearted and very friendly, helping you out with every request. The owners are exeptionally kind, talented and very inspirational. This place has everything you need for calming yourself down. Food and the coffee is very tasty. There is even a little art gallery. The surf spot Pottuvil is in walking distance and so is the place to rent boards.

Make sure to bring enough mosquito repellent. Otherwise you are going to be eaten ;) also, renting a TukTuk might be a great choice to be flexible in moving around.

Really nice accomodation in a beautiful garden setting.The staff is friendly and the food is good.The beach nearby is also nice and with no crowds.We are really happy that we stayed here and not directly at arugam bay.Highly recommended!

The garden and entire property was so beautiful and gave a very zen feeling. The trees provided some shade during the hot days and Vishy was so lovely to chat to and gave some helpful advice on the area. Great a quiet location for a nice break for the party in Arugam Bay and was a 10 min walk / 1 min tuk tuk to the surf.

Just make sure to bring some bug spray for your feet at night!

They Did not visit the room for two days. The room was very rustic and very tired. The food over priced and small portions

For us it was a bit too far away from everything and getting to Arugam Bay was at least 2000rs by tuk tuk each way. We rented a scooter to be able to go back and forward. There wasn’t anywhere we could buy water, a soda, or similar. The breakfast variation was very limited to curry and one option of Western breakfast, toast and egg, and the same for dinner. The internet did not work properly most of our stay, but We don’t know if that was a property problem or a problem in the area. The hostess seemed to be on her phone most of our time there, or managing staff. However the working staff was always very kind and helpful. Finally, the place could not take payment cards and even though all payments was cash the host could not give us any change back. This place was too rural for our liking. There isn’t much to do in the area. However, others might find this appealing.

Beautiful natural setting that they've worked hard to create with natural materials and plants. It gets raked/swept/watered everyday to keep it looking great. They allowed an early check-in for us.. Lots of design touches in every area, including a spiral wooden staircase down to our bathroom with sink carved from a solid piece of stone. Lots of nature such as butterfly's, birds, geckos around ... And some even get in your room for a real close up (praying mantis, gecko, insects) 10.min walk to the surfing beach ... And as with all beaches along this coast, strong currents so not good for swimming or small kids. For note: No mosquito net on single bed in the room (this seems normal in Sri Lanka but not sure why) Booking.com taxes for this accomm were significantly higher than every other accomm and I don't know why (eg 40usd on 160usd costs).

The location is 10 min walking from the beach and 20 min from pottovil surfing. Location is quiet, yet close enough to the beach and surfing point. The garden of the property is beautiful with a nice seating area for breakfast and dinner.

We were located in the hut which is rather small and dark and expensive at 100 usd/night. . The other small houses seemed much nicer. Dinner was good quality but also priced higher than prices in sri lanka (even compared to touristic prices). Breakfast was nice but very limited.

Beautiful place for stay with the family outside the craziness of Arugambay. The food was of a very high standard and facilities perfect.

We loved the friendly welcome and amazing home cooked food in the evenings, the space was so lovely and relaxing! We also loved the outdoor shower with accompanying geckos and little baby frogs. Great recommendations given as well. Thanks Vishy!

Staying at this beautiful property was like being in a dream! There are various options but I stayed in the treehouse which was so cute (very instagrammable😅). It’s set in gorgeous gardens with various lovely plants and flowers, and only a short walk from the beach. The dogs are super cute and food delicious. The very best thing for me were the owners - Vishy and her husband are incredibly warm and welcoming and have decorated the place so gorgeously! There’s art everywhere and you can really see the passion they have for this very special project. I was so sad to leave - it was one of my favourite places in my entire month-long trip.

Made our stay in Arugam Bay. A super comfortable place to stay for a week, with lush surroundings and a great attention to detail. The food was so delicious and the staff and owners incredibly welcoming and always on hand to offer tips for how to enjoy our time in the area. Especially in a place like Arugam Bay where there isn’t a great deal to do other than surfing, staying in a place like Monsoon made all the difference.

To sum it up we probably had the best time ever at Monsoon Eco Resort. Vishy and Seneth are the loveliest and most caring hosts you can think of. Together with their staff they made this a truly unique and unforgettable experience. You come as a guest and leave as a friend! The place itself is an oasis in the middle of nature with lots of small details everywhere and very close to Pottuvil Surf Point. Another thing to point out is the delicious food which is always prepared fresh and with local ingredients.

Far from the beach

This place is completely amazing. The location, the stunning garden, the beautiful and super comfy huts, the relaxed/zen design and ambiance of the whole hotel ground, the super delicious fresh food and drinks, the extra attentive and adorable staff, the services and assistance provided with transportation, sight seeing, etc... and bonus points to the top professional, top responsive, top friendly owners.

The place is just an ordinary gem! You can feel the love and passion Vishy and her husband have put in this place. They are so helpful and understanding with everything. The food is home made and really tasty and authentic. I would always come here again.

When we booked our stay at Eco Monsoon Resort, we did not expect to find such a gem! The hosts are amazing and made us feel at home the moment we stepped in. These are real people, offering their home, time and local knowledge to make your stay as good as it gets. All the food is prepared by the hosts - definitely real Sri Lankan cuisine at its finest here. The meals are wholesome, cooked with a lot of heart and soul; a mix of dhal, rice dishes, different roti, potato, veggies, fish, chicken and seafood, paired with fresh juices, proper coffee and/or chai kept us craving for more every day. Also, they are great at managing the spiciness levels and if you want to go all the way, you can. The resort itself is a very unique, beautiful refuge. It is authentic, charming & peaceful and provided a quiet and lush oasis. It is a place to enjoy, have great talks and get a good rest after a day of surfing or exploring the coastline. Yes, the surfing hub of Arugam Bay is a bit of a ride away, but that is part of what makes the place: Less crowds, more authenticity. Within a short distance from Eco Monsoon, there are two lesser-known point breaks that kept us entertained and let us enjoy some uncrowded sessions. So, if you're up for an authentic experience away from all the crowds, give this place a go. We enjoyed it - the unpretentious accommodation, the homely food, the heartfelt hospitality, and the early morning surfs. We'll be back. Thank you and see you soon.

What an amazing stay! The staff was really lovely (❤️), they made us feel like home, the food was delicious, the house we stayed at was beautiful and very cosy. I would defenitely recommend to visit this place and I really want to come back. it was a 10 out of a 10!!!!

Our stay at Monsoon was magnificant. The owners Vishi & Senne made us feel like home, and also Gamma & Safir. The houses are very cosy decorated, it feels like your in the middle of a jungle and you can still hear the breaking waves. The meals are very fresh (the fish is caught that day), healthy and all Sri Lankan. Vishi is an amazing cook. We really loved the fish curry, and the coffee made by Senne is the best coffee we tasted in Sri Lanka. The environment is quiet, and still close to several surf spots. We really recommend this accommodation for everyone who wants relaxing vibes.

The property was amazing! It was very quiet and peaceful. The chalet was such a fun spot to stay a few nights, surrounded by a beautiful garden and art made by the owner. You can tell they have put a lot of love and thought into the details and it just feels a little bit magical staying there :) The food was delicious and the hosts were so kind and accomodating.
