The Strand Road Guest House

Great value for money. Restaurant/bar attached was lovely. Room and bed was comfortable and spacious. Car parking was on the road but plenty available. No breakfast but the Batch which was recommended was amazing for breakfast and lovely coffee. To check in you need to go to the bar. Staff were friendly. Close to Glenveagh National Park and mt Errigal

The hallway/entrance did have cooking smells from the kitchen for the bar and there was no milk for the coffee . But this may have been an oversight.

Nice clean room. Staff is very friendly. If you stay here I definitely recommend the restaurant.

Only downside for us was the nosiy delivery early in the morning.

It was very unusual in a way as I did not see anyone for the 5 days I spent therein the accommodation area except for a chef who was at a connecting door to the property one day and she asked if all was ok It would have been nice to have a proper check in with the usual information for the attractions of the area etc offer of clean towels or toilet paper I bought some I managed with the towel allocation 2 large I small to do 5 days It was noisy as well around close of kitchen it seemed like staff were changing upstairs!!!! Over my room it was busy on that stairs The carpet leading to the staff area was dirty and grimy Front door always banging even though there was a notice saying to close quietly The room was fitted out adequately and copious of hot water If you went in to the restaurant downstairs it was so well laid out and the attention to detail was second to none Like 2 different places..:; Definitely not enough thought and best practice with the bedrooms concept A notice saying if you need anything go to the bar …,’try that with a newbie who was not able to get bin liners I was too embarrassed to ask for toilet paper A bit of work to do here with hospitality… The food was amazing and the portions large The staff were not engaging with the customers choosing to stay behind the bar chatting when instead could have interacted a bit more it would have created a better atmosphere All in all it’s a really nice place that just needs improvement especially customer service

Not really the fault of the property but our two night stay had one night of beautiful silence and another of loud guests below who were constantly coming and going, slamming doors . The rooms are above a busy restaurant so presumably our noisy neighbours were attending a function there. These things happen. Still a 10 out of 10 - beautiful place.

Gentilezza e disponibilità della proprietaria. Siamo arrivati tardi quasi a chiusura cucina, ma ci ha trovato un posto ottimo nel pub, cucina ottima! Parcheggio gratuito vicinissimo alla struttura. Bella questa zona da visitare, a prezzi giusti.

Very clean, allow us to keep are bikes out of the rain, nice tea, biscuits and cereal tray in the room. Food excellent in the adjoining restaurant and bar.

Comfortable bed and breakfast cereal alongside tea and coffee facilities. Excellent restaurant for dinner.

Room quite small and door to restaurant kitchen allowed cooking smells to permeate a bit.

Great location and was reasonable value for a very busy holiday weekend! Staff were friendly.

Very noisy but that wasn't completely unexpected. The real issue was the cleaning and upkeep. Shower plug was blocked even though this has been highlighted before in reviews and easily fixed! Dirty cup in the bathroom when we arrived. But the main (gross) downfall was when I looked under the bed to find something I'd dropped.. it was thick with dust and dirt and an empty Lucozade bottle lying underneath.. please get proper cleaners as there's really no excuse for this, takes a few min to clean a room properly before people check in.

Located right in the middle of Falcarragh which was a great spot for us as Dunfanaghy was close by also. Room was clean and bed was super comfortable. Staff were pleasant and very helpful!

Delivery for the pub restaurant arrived at 6:45am, lorry was super loud and lots of noise when unloading.

Different menus dependent on where you were seated. Very disappointing especially when other diners put in beer garden (where we had been seated) were given the ‘indoor’ menus

The automatic delay controller of the fan in the bathroom ran for an excessive time with no way of disabling. Electrician should recalibrate to a standard short time delay.

Was convenient to stay there as we were touring around Ireland. Staff were very friendly and helpful, food in pub of high standard. Although we knew there would be no breakfast there was instant porridge to start the day with.

I guess our review is because we are of the older generation, there was a wedding celebration going on at the back of the bedroom, yes the music was loud but that’s how it is nowadays, everyone having a great time, when celebration was over lots of happy people were in the street, chatting loudly, seem to disappear after a while but then returned when I suspect taxis turned up ! If we had been informed prior to our stay we might have booked elsewhere, as had happened with a b&B previously, their electricity was going to be off so gave us a choice what we wanted to do as it was at breakfast time. Also Shower was very slow to drain. As long as the newly weds had a great time !

La struttura e posta sopra a un pub, entrano tutti gli odori della stessa nella stanza e diventa insopportabile l'odore. Abbiamo dovuto dormire con le finestre aperte, inoltre il rumore continuo dei camerieri che giustamente devono pulire e sistemare il pub. Basterebbe insonorizzare di piu le stanze vista la posizione. Stanza non pulitissima lo scopettino del wc sporco come mai visto prima in una stanza d'albergo.

Tomas (young man who did the check in) was very professional and friendly. Also, I had car problems and Tomas kindly got me details for local mechanics. Room was cosy and spacious. Lots of snacks left in the room as long with tea and coffee.

Staff were friendly and checking in and out was easy even though I needed to leave early in the morning. Shower and loo were clean and worked. The bed was very comfortable. There was to be no breakfast with booking so I wasn't expecting much. A toaster in the room would have been helpful.

Slightly concerned by a couple of noisy young lads (possibly with drink taken) running down the street at around 1am and loudly discussing stealing a car!

Das Pub ist ein sehr gutes Speiselokal, unbedingt die Nähe nutzen (und reservieren!), es lohnt sich. Zentrale Lage, gratis Parkplatz direkt vor dem Haus oder in unmittelbarer Nähe, gutes WLAN.

Leider gibt es da ein paar Punkte. Zur Begrüssung gab es nicht ein "wie geht es?" sondern "habt ihr schon bezahlt?", nicht gerade der beste Einstieg. Das Zimmer ist sehr klein, Frühstücken kann man nur auf dem Bett, der kleine Tisch geht eher unter Dekoration. Morgenessen und Kaffee muss man sich über die Strasse im Supermarkt besorgen. Dem Gebäude entsprechend, das Zimmer ist anliegend an ein Pub, ist es während der Betriebszeiten des Pubs eher laut im Zimmer, das geht allerdings nicht bis spät in die Nacht. Eher störend war der Motor vor dem Haus, welcher 24/7 in Betrieb war und summte. Sehr speziell war dann die Erfahrung danach: ich bekam nach dem Aufenthalt zwei Mal über verschiedene Nummern via WhatsApp eine Nachricht, dass wir zu viel bezahlt hätten und eine Rückerstattung bekommen. Name, Telefonnummer und Buchungsdaten absolut korrekt, nur der Betrag war falsch! Dass wir nach einem Aufenthalt in einer Unterkunft mit persönlichen Daten in einen Phishing-Fall involviert sind, ist dann doch etwas zu viel des Zufalls - den Fall sowohl Booking.com wie auch den Behörden gemeldet.

It was a convenient location for our 1 night stay. The Bistro next door was very good.

No hot water for morning showers!! No response to my voice mails (2 contacts listed in the room) and no response to the message I sent through the Bookings reservation. I waited several days to write my review giving the host ample time to acknowledge the issue. Very disappointed.

This was a great value for the price. The room was cozy and well equipped. There was tea and biscuits and a kettle. The bed was comfortable. What could not be beat was the welcome and hospitality offered by the host, Dillon. We so enjoyed him. The restarurant on the main floor was excellent! Would definitely recommend!

We had trouble working the TV. It was likely our inexperience with technology in Ireland. It did not detract from our stay. I'm sure we could have had help if we asked.

Room wasnt ready when we arrived at 6pm, waited an hour with complemenary drinks. Lock on door didnt work properly. we were locked in and had to phone for help, pass key under door to be unlocked, told someone would come and fix the problem, nobody did, met staff in street on 2nd day and he asked if door had been fixed. when we said no he was surprised and said he would get someone to look at it. They never came so for the 2 nights we didn't have a secure locked door. Sink hadn't been cleaned in bathroom.

Really friendly and helpful staff. Amazing location, right in the centre of Falcarragh and right beside the best pub! Could park right outside for free - amazing beaches near by and a lovely town. Room was very clean and comfortable, bed was comfy and bathroom was really clean. Rooms have clearly been renovated recently so very modern inside. Loved having the 2 chairs in the room so you don't always have to sit on the bed. Couldn't beat it for the price - incredible value for money. Side note, the food in the pub is incredible so highly recommend it too.

We stayed on a Friday night so it was quite noisy with people coming and going, and our room was right beside the stairs - I'm a deep sleeper so didn't bother me but just so you know if you're staying at the weekend.

We had some issues with the internet and electricity but am sure it is not a usual thing.

The shower was good and the bed was very comfortable. The food next door in the pub was wonderful. The staff were excellent. The lack of a cooked breakfast was no bother, I had the choice of cereal and porridge plus tea and coffee.

When I opened the blackout curtains in the morning, the support pole separated in the middle. It was a bit of a fiddle putting it back together successfully. A wee bit of maintenance would help that happening to someone else. Room 7.

Easy central location. Room was clean and spacious. Really handy to have the restaurant next door too. Staff there were great and food was really tasty (especially after a long day hiking). They don't serve breakfast on weekdays but there's a really great cafe a two minute walk away (Batch) that serve breakfast from 8:30am. Would definitely book again.

Hygiëne - Haren van de vorige gasten zaten nog in de douche Geluidsoverlast - beat, muziek, geluid van het restaurant eronder, je hoort de mensen naast je zelfs praten, de wc gebruiken (ja, alles) en andere dingen doen. Faciliteiten - Tv deed het niet, maar 1 toiletrol voor 3 dagen. Wc spoelde slecht door, douche spoelde nauwelijks door... Zou ik snel ontstoppen voordat je straks een groot probleem hebt.

Staff really welcoming, room was small but clean & adequate for our needs. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was good too. Location was central to village.

The sole reasoning for the low score.....the noise generated from the adjacent room. Paper thin walls. Double room next door taken over for a party of 5 & boy did they not stop. Music, loud voices, toilet extractor fan buzzing all night, constant walking up & down stairs. Never stopped all night. At one point in the evening we believed that the people using the room were actually staff? Not sure if that was the case, but they certainly were using a different set of stairs to what guests normally use. The property has no on-site staff to monitor who comes & goes from the rooms. Our neighbours for the evening took advantage of that. Welcoming in a few friends might not seem like a big deal; but neither of us got any sleep throughout the night. No-one to complain to, so just had to suffer & leave exhausted the next morning. Would I return to stay again? Absolutely not! That's a pity, because the room & facilities were fine for the room cost. Until the owners put in place some sort of monitoring arrangements for who actually stays in the rooms, I'm afraid this scenario will play over again.

Good Food Friendly staff

Located in a sweet town above an excellent restaurant with great staff and a fun welcoming vibe.

It was a bit tricky to find the spot and it smelled like cooking grease in the hallway but thankfully not in the room!

Room/Staff/Food were very good however we never slept a wink with constant noise! Banging- people drunk outside shouting and swearing - taking barrels out of the cellar - speeding cars racing up and down outside - all this went on till 5am in the morning - we couldn’t wait to get out of there!

We expect some noise but not to the extent we experienced.

I know it's obvious but just a note saying where to ask for entry perhaps?! Minor! Thanks

The Strand Guest House is a bit dated, but all you need for a great stay in Falcarragh. The Strand Bar, next door, is an excellent restaurant and a great bar.

There was no breakfast, but there were little packets of cereal and a kettle available in the room. The location is very good, a nice little town with all facilities in it. Great bathroom with lovely shower.

The accommodation was adequate, however the room was very small and there was a fair amount of noise on the second night, as there seemed to be a hen party below us! (There was a function room below us).
