Paisa Hostel Medellín

Me encantó la educación y amabilidad del Paisa, cordial. Sus colaboradores, Leo y Sebastián hacen que el lugar se sienta como un segundo hagar, por su calidez, muy agradecidos por el servicio que recibímos de ellos.

The Paisa hostel in Laureles is a rather small, calm and friendly hostel in Medellín. The area is very safe and feels more residential than the touristic Poblado. The staff were all super kind and they all quickly became friends. I extended my stay because I liked the hostel and the city so much.

The laundry was 25k COP, perhaps a bit expensive.

Staff was not super friendly and also most of them did not speak english which simply is impractical. There are by far not enough bathroom (to the best of my knowledge only 1 real bathroom and 1 additional toilet, but I may have overseen/misunderstood something). It was not super clean, and partly smelly, someone puked into the 1 upstairs bathroom really terribly and the bathroom was full of vomit for way too long. Perhaps I just had badluck.

Dusche hatte nur eine Temperatur, sehr heiß. Zimmer, trotz Ventilator, zu heiß.

Outdoor chill-area war super, das Personal extrem freundlich und mit guten Tipps zu Medellin/Umgebung immer zur Stelle. Ich hab mich sehr wohl gefühlt. Angenehme entspannte Atmosphäre.

L'emplacement, belle salle commune avec les hamacs, commerces de proximité.

La climatisation de la chambre était en panne. Il faisait très chaud dans la chambre.

Good location, easy access to public transport and some good restaurants nearby. The staff we spoke to were really friendly!

We booked a double room, however it didn’t have any windows so it was stiflingly hot and there was no fresh air circulating so it smelled super musty. There were some stains on our sheets. The bathroom situation is a bit odd, with one shower room being a wet room at the back of the kitchen. We left the next morning, the receptionist was kind enough to refund us for the 4 nights we didn’t stay. The door to one of the dorms was open and I could see they had a window and it was much bigger so I think it is just luck of the draw which room you get!

It's still a beautiful property.

I've stayed there many times, under the old ownership. The results of new owners, for me, did not compare. Staff was less attentive, Orlando is missed, two staffers spoke English, compared to everyone, before and cutting the cleaning lady was noticeable.

Tolles Hostel in einer sicheren und sehr gut gelegenen Gegend von Medellín. Die alte Villa verleiht dem Haus eine besondere Atmosphäre und viel Charme. Es gibt unglaublich viel Platz zum Co-Working, Entspannen und für soziale Aktivitäten. Die Gemeinschaftsbereiche sind großzügig gestaltet, die Küche ist groß und gut ausgestattet, und alles ist sehr sauber. Das Personal ist außergewöhnlich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ich würde dieses Hostel jederzeit weiterempfehlen – es ist eines der besten, wenn nicht sogar das beste Hostel, in dem ich bisher übernachtet habe.

The room was inside a common kitchen, it was small old, dirty, humid and expensive. After we left we found a clean room with tv, AC, decent shower and even a fridge in a place nearby for less than what we paid.

La chambre était toute petite sans aucune aération ! Nous avons passé les pires nuits de notre séjour à cause de la chaleur ! Il y a seulement un ventilateur mais ducoup qui brasse que de l’air chaud

The staff was super helpful and welcoming. The neighbourhood is full or bars and restaurants and seemed really safe to walk around.

The dorm itself was basic but the only plug I could find next to my bed was hidden on the side of the bedframe, meaning I had to move the whole bed to charge my phone. Not ideal. Although not really the hotel's fault, the bathroom was filthy because of the other guests. There was water everywhere, hair, dirty shoe prints, ... Maybe the bathrooms should be cleaned more often?

The location was good, things were clean and cleaned regularly, the volunteers at the front desk were amicable. The room I stayed in, a private, had pretty windows and the beds were clean.

The person who checked out right before me took the key to my private room. I don't know how long before my reservation they knew about this but, they didn't inform me until I arrived. At that point I was not offered another room or a return of funds. I paid $150 for the room and when I asked for $50 of that back the owner offered to give me back a much lower amount or to give me my full amount back but I would have to leave and find other accommodations. For the days that I was there when I was in the room I was able to lock it but, when I left the room I would store my valuables in a locker, they provided, and I would have to remember to leave the door unlocked. Honestly shit happens, and the situation itself wasn't awful. It was the owners handling of it, especially telling me I needed to leave if he gave me back more than the equivalent of $13. Also, they have minimal shared bathrooms, so there was always a wait.

La ubicación perfecta tienes supermercados, restaurantes, etc. El barrio increíble muy bonito y cuidado. Por otro lado, Santiago súper amable y atento .

Nos alojamos en la habitación doble que está ubicada dentro de la cocina. Es una habitación sin ventilación, con muchísima humedad y no tiene aire acondicionado. Con el calor que hacía se creaba un clima cargado con mal olor a humedad. Tenía abrir constantemente la puerta y poner el ventilador fuera para ventilar. Por otro lado, la cama no era muy cómoda, envuelta de un plástico que cada vez que te movías hacía ruido, y las almohadas, ultra finas, que eso y nada era lo mismo. Tampoco podía cambiar de habitación ya que tienen habitaciones compartidas y queríamos baño privado. Y por último, a partir de las 10 de la noche siempre había ruido alto.

El baño de ese cuarto es ESPECTACULAR, no me canso de decirlo

The hostel was very well located and the owners were very nice, as they were just taking over the hostal I think they were still in a transition period.

My room had a balcony which the whole hostel used so many people walked through the room, which is ok but maybe is nice to know in advance. Furthermore most the people there were volunteers and not as many travellers so it didn't have too much of a hostal vibe....

El personal es muy amable y están dispuestos en ayudar en todo lo posible. Es una zona muy tranquila y organizada. Ubicado en una excelente ubicación. Totalmente recomendado.

Ubicado en un sector bonito y muy tranquilo, cerca de puntos principales. Además tenía una buena relación calidad-precio en la habitación individual. El personal era amable.

La cama en la habitación individual que estaba cerca de la cocina era un poco dura y las almohadas no eran tan cómodas. Sin embargo fue precioso para dos noches.

Los recepcionistas fueron muy amables y me ayudaron en todo lo que necesité.

Cute hostel. Nice crew. Plenty of restaurants and places around. Beds were comfortable.

Late night lots of people were smoking in the common area and also in back right under the window to the room. All the smoke ended up in the room. I was wheezing at one point. They should ban the smoking in the back area and have them smoke in the front patio outside away from the rooms. The smoke in the room was a deal breaker.

Me echaron como un perro por el concierto del artista que está en Medellín, no me informaron en la tarde que gestionara otro lugar para pasar la noche, cuando ayer el señor me dijo que si me reservaba otra habitación para pasar la noche de hoy.

The Room was sadly badly ventilated for a room without windows. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. To less bathrooms for the amount of people.

Location is great, safe neighborhood with a lot of bars & restaurant at walking distance. Shared space are nice, beautiful house and the staff is very nice & helpful. Free tea & coffee in the morning.

The double room we had (I believe the only one in the hostel) was suuuper small, with no windows. We could barely walk around the bed & we had literally no air to breathe. The bed wasn't confortable, the bedsheet was too small & the cushions were in a plastic cover making awful noises.

Otimá localização, o quarto muito confortavel e a estrutura do hostel é muito bacana.

MInha amiga estava em um quarto compartilhado com outra moça, um voluntario que estava trabalhando no hostel tentou entrar no quarto para limpar, mesmo elas avisando que o banheiro estava ocupado, o rapaz abriu a porta do banheiro (que não tinha tranca) e só saiu quando viu que minha amiga estava no banho, foi uma situação bem constrangedora. Avisamos na recepção sobre o ocorrido.

Demasiado bonito y bien ubicado

Super personnel, cuisine très bien équipée, emplacement dans un très bon quartier à proximité de commerces, extérieurs excellents, lieu très propice aux échanges. Thé/café à volonté mis à disposition en journée également. Nous recommandons totalement.

La fenêtre donnait sur la cuisine, ce qui n'était pas pratique pour aérer. Il faisait donc très chaud malgré le ventilateur.

Très bon emplacement, réception super sympa et arrangeant. Chambre ok (lit pas super confortable mais ok), salle de bain commune au top (grande, agréable, propre). Cuisine grande et équipée

Really good vibe in an amazing spot. Staff were friendly and a great way to meet other travellers.

Could have been another shower/bathroom. There’s no pictures of the private rooms so a bit of a lottery which one you get.

It's a nice low key hostel, with very friendly staff. I was planning to stay here for a week, but ended up staying for two months! Highly reccommend if you are looking for a place that is social, but not too social, not noisy at night, and that has very friendly staff. Orlando and Ginny especially are amazing hosts.

This is my third time. Love Orlando & co. The owners. But it's a beautiful house, turned into a hostel, so it can get crowded. Best time to be there is off season. A+.

It was interesting to be hosted in what used to be a luxurious local house. It was very enjoyable and made the stay very unique. I also had a great time and the staff was always present to make sur everything was fine. They were genuine people and heartfelt people, I definitely would have stayed longer

Maybe the pillows were a bit too flat and the mattress was hard and noisy, but i still had great night of sleep

Wow, the staff is really friendly and makes you feel like home!! We liked the location. Its a calm and a local area. Its easy to reach other areas with public transfer.

Be aware that the private rooms are really basic (no window and small) but due the price its fair.

The hostel is beautiful and clean and it has a big kitchen and a nice community area. It is located in a very nice neighbourhood, everything you need is quite close.

First of all is the neighborhood, Laureles is perfect for walking. It could be called El Jardin (The Garden) it's that beautiful and warm, often with a cool breeze. The location of the hostel is convenient to shops, restaurants and cafes.

Nice, friendly hostel. Very comfortable dorms. Good common areas. And, I was so happy to find 123Wok Asian food restaurant a very short, safe walk from the hostel.

The place is awesome. We had a great time. There is everything we need. And the staff is very nice.

This place has a lot to offer. The location is great and the staff are very friendly. Hot water and good WiFi too!

I checked out 2 nights early as the beds are ridiculously uncomfortable! I have travelled around the world and these were quite unbearable. This is also not a problem but might be something to consider it you are a solo traveller- lots of people stay here long term so it was difficult to meet anyone. Also there was a broken window in my room which let in loads of mosquitoes.

Really dirty. Bed sheets not cleaned from previous private room occupant. Bed horribly uncomfortable and so noisy it was difficult to sleep.

Perfect location and super friendly staff. The hostel is peaceful and the staff makes sure it stays that way, which is nice. The kitchen is huge and has everything you need to cook a decent meal. The bathroom is also spacious and everything is very clean! I felt very at home here.

Our private 2 person room didn't have a window, so it got very hot at night. Luckily there's a fan in the room, but if you're a light sleeper I wouldn't recommend this room because of that. The shower didn't always get warm, but I feel like that's a thing in all ho(s)tels in Colombia. If you take a shower early in the morning, it does get warm.

Best hostel in 7 months backpacking: - location: in a calm street in a great fun neighborhood, and the hostel is right in front of a police station... so super calm, super safe - The bathroom attached to the room I was in was huge and had a shower and a jacuzzi like bathtub. Kitchen fairly well equipped, common area available, Orlando the manager is a super cool dude speaking perfect English. Hostel super calm at night. It really deserves nothing but love. Awesome value for its money

The hostel is very chill, the staff is super nice and helpful, it’s in a good location - very safe! Everything was clean and the kitchen has lots of good amenities.

The WiFi was terrible for working remotely and having meetings. I lost 3 meetings and then had to go to the nearby grocery store to work the rest of my time there. Luckily the grocery store has great wifi and lots of cafes and tables to sit at, but I do not recommend for digital nomads looking for consistent connection :(

The structure is excellent, high quality, looks like a good rated hotel. Extremely polite host. Wonderful toilet (but only 1 available). Safe neighborhood, even at night, with a mall at 5 minutes. Possible to do laundry (20k for a small basket). Free instant coffee in the morning. Very nice courtyard with hammocks.

Wifi isn't working well in the courtyard. Lockers only in the courtyard. Only one toilet. I didn't feel safe walking back at night from the nearest metro station, Floresta (for the first 20 minutes of walk, then it becomes safe). Better to step out at Estadio, even if it is further away.
