Amazing beautiful place

Abbiamo apprezzato la struttura immersa nel verde e la presenza della piscina. La casa è davvero molto bella esteticamente e ben schermata dall'ambiente esterno. Consigliatissimo anche il safari proposto dalla struttura, il driver ci ha fatto scoprire le meraviglie del parco nazionale e fatto da guida attenta e curiosa, non limitandosi a indicarci i vari animali, ma spiegando anche le loro caratteristiche e particolarità. Molto consigliato!

Es un sitio muy agradable y super limpio. Tiene mosquitera en las habitaciones que se agradece mucho. Tiene habitaciones enormes y el baño está genial. Además si les avisas te preparan la comida o la cena. La piscina está muy bien, es cómoda y la temperatura del agua es ideal, ni muy fría ni muy caliente, perfecta. El desayuno está de 10, super completo con comida tanto internacional como local. Está a 15 minutos en coche del parque Nacional de Udawalawe. Enfrente justo hay un restaurante y al lado una tienda de "desavíos".

Contratamos el safari con ellos directamente a pesar de que era un poco más caro que con getyourguide y aunque pagamos todo por adelantado, antes de ir al safari nos sugirió que le diésemos propina al conductor. Generó mucha incomodidad en nosotras e incluso le dije que si era solo si yo quería y me repitió que si nos gustaba el safari deberíamos darle propina. Fue un poco desagradable para nosotras, ya que pagamos absolutamente todo por adelantado y el safari fue más caro que con otros proveedores.

From messaging me for my arrival time, to letting me know my breakfast is ready ( exactly when I requested it) Maika Safari has been perfect. Such a lovely family run location. The rooms are cool, bathrooms big, towels fluffy and the whole place from pool to gardens are so beautifully kept. Safaris are booked, Elephant Transit centre a short tuk tuk or walk away. The WiFi is Fabulous here so I was able to grab a rest after too much surfing AND catch up on admin. Thank you!

Außergewöhnlich freundliches Personal. Jeder Wunsch wurde freundlich und engagiert erfüllt. Sauberen und großen Pool, wunderbar. Safari wurde organisiert und wir (meine Freundin und ich) hatten einen sehr engagierten Fahrer der zum Hause gehörte. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Der Manager ist total lieb, hilft einem bei allem und man kann vieles über ihn buchen. Er hat uns über Freunde auch einen günstigeren Transfer ermöglicht. Die Anlage ist sehr schön.

Wir hatten leider einige Kakerlaken in dem Zimmer, ansonsten war es wirklich sehr sauber und geputzt.

The room was clean and nice

If you are booking to organise a safari be ready to get scammed. We were offered a price of 30,000 each for a group of 4 but after looking into other companies the price was 20,000. After telling the hotel we would not like to book the tour with them anymore they were very pushy for us to do it and made us feel uncomfortable. If the same price was offered there we would have gladly booked with hotel.

Perfect place. 10 out of 10 hospitality. Super comfortable and the owners were excellent hosts; I couldn’t have had a better stay. The owner even took me to the ATM to withdraw money and made sure I got the best price for the safari. He also arranged a taxi for me to the airport the next day at a very good price. Thank you so much!

Loved the location and hosts. The swimming pool was a welcome addition. We had 2 breakfasts and dinner prepared for us which was plentiful and delicious 😋

The owners are still developing the Lodge so minor improvements will make it even more enjoyable.

Very good value for the price, I arrive early in the morning (way before check in time so I would be able to do a safari) and they promptly prepared my room! It’s amazing that you can just rock up and book a safari on the spot, it made my experience seamless. There are some good restaurants and cafes near by for dinner. The free breakfast included in the price was an excellent local selection. The host went above and beyond to ensure I had a great stay. I am very appreciative of Kavindu who speaks excellent English and is extremely kind and helpful. They can sort you out with transfers to wherever you need to go or kindly drop you off at the bus station if you choose the local transport option!

Helpful hosts - they organised a fantastic morning safari for us. Spacious and air conditioned room. The property has a nice pool which we used as well.

Our reservation was cancelled last minute due to "heavy rain and problems with sewage". We have confirmed the stay the previous day after reading comments about not being allowed to stay if not booking the safari with them. We have informed them we have a different safari booked and they have said it's not a problem, just to text us the following day that we were supposed to check in that they have to cancel our stay. Also they were not transparent about the Safari prices at all, when I requested the offer they said the price varies 55-100 USD and that it depends on the government???

This accommodation is a fraud, which becomes obvious if you read the reviews on Google Maps. Their concept is to offer very cheap accommodation and then pressure guests into booking an overpriced safari tour with them. I already suspected something was wrong, as I repeatedly asked for the safari price via messages, but they kept telling me to come to reception and discuss it in person. They even wanted me to reserve a jeep without giving me any price beforehand. I realized it was a scam, but I couldn’t cancel the booking, so we went anyway. They only allowed us to stay because the hotel was completely empty (likely due to the war situation). Otherwise, they probably would have claimed there were no available rooms — something also mentioned in other Google Maps reviews. When we arrived, they even turned off the pool lights, and the host was on the phone, seemingly asking someone what to do with us. The price included breakfast, but the host told us there was a buffet that ended before 10 a.m., which makes no sense since guests usually leave for safari at that time. In reality, there was no buffet at all — we didn’t see any setup when we returned — so we essentially paid for a non-existent breakfast. As for the room, it was very basic. The beds were comfortable, but there were no bedside tables, and the lamp cable was hanging loosely (as shown in the photo). There are no negative reviews on the booking platform because guests who experience this situation often leave early and cancel their reservation, which prevents them from leaving a review. Avoid this type of accommodation. You can easily find a local safari guide for a much better price and a far better overall experience.

We loved our stay! The room was clean with a comfy bed! The family running the accommodation were super friendly and helpful. They organised our safari trip and arranged all transportation during our stay all for reasonable price. The family meal was also very good. Great value overall!

老板人很好，耐心解释各种问题，safari的价格也很合理，看到了很多野生动物！民宿虽然在路边，但是进到院子以后很安静，私密性也很好，客房也很干净整洁。早餐真的太棒了，我刚要吃完鸡蛋和吐司，以为已经结束了，结果老板又送来了各种斯里兰卡传统早餐，一个人完全吃不了，但是因为太好吃了以及不想浪费，于是又吃了好多！院子里还有一个泳池，非常适合让自己凉下来哈哈哈。

Lovely clean pool! Owner organised our safari for 50,000LKR for 2 people 5hr private safari. Lodge was spacious. Nice terrace area. Brilliant for the price!

Das Hotel war sehr schön und uns wurde eine tolle Safari organisiert. Wir konnten am Morgen nach der Safari am Pool entspannen, bis unser Fahrer uns abgeholt hat. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker.

In den Zimmern waren viele Mücken, es gab aber gute Moskitonetze und das Personal hat ein Raumspray dafür.

Probably the best stay in Sri Lanka. We arrived earlier but were welcomed by the kind family with smiles, coconuts and we could already use the pool! The garden and pool are well maintained and the lodges are beautiful. The modern room had AC, mosquito net and hot water. As many accommodations in the area the price is very cheap because they can arrange a safari tour for you: the truth is we were not disappointed with it. We had breakfast right after the early safari, the best we had in Sri Lanka, with many local homemade delicious options. We recommend trying their dinner too, you won’t be disappointed! Maika lodge is only 10min walking from udawalawe and had also many dining options nearby. We wish best of luck to this beautiful family and strongly recommend staying with them!

Kavindu war absolut hilfsbereit und hat mir geholfen alles zu organisieren was ich brauchte. Inklusive Anhalten eines Lokalen Busses. Ich hab mich sehr gut aufgehoben gefühlt!

The property is great! The host is so friendly and we really enjoyed the safari with them. The pool is also nice for a quick refreshing swim. They also arranged a taxi to our next location for a fair price.

We would recommend booking a room with AC, since sleeping with only a fan on was quite hot.

Die Unterkunft war Basic, die Zimmer aber sauber und mit Moskitonetz ausgestattet. Der Pool war erfrischend und sauber, die Besitzer der Unterkunft alle freundlich und hilfsbereit bei der Organisation des Weitertransports (fairer Preis) und das Frühstück lecker. Noch zum günstigen Zimmerpreis, diesen gibt es nur in Kombo mit einer über die Unterkunft gebuchten Safari! Wir wussten das im Vorhinein und somit war der Deal, etwas mehr für die Safari zu bezahlen als bei Selbstorganisation und dafür kaum etwas für das Zimmer zu bezahlen auch okay. Die Safari-Tour war übrigens wirklich super, wir hatten einen sehr tollen Fahrer der sich sehr viel Mühe gab und Tiere entdeckt, wo wir 3x hinschauen mussten. Ebenso war das Essen und Getränke auch im Preis für die Safari mit eingeschlossen, was auch genug war um uns alle satt zu machen. Der Park an sich ist auf jeden Fall ein Besuch Wert - Schakal, Mungos, Büffel, Affen, Pfauen, Krokodile und natürlich ganz viele Elefanten.

Die Klimaanlage war nicht die Beste seitens der gewünschten Temperatur, aber das Problem hat man oftmals.

War schön das ein Pool vorhanden war, allerdings ohne Schattenplätze. Die Lieben waren nicht sehr komfortable Liegen.

Achtung Scam! Ohne Buchung einer überteuerten Safari wird man rausgeworfen. Wir haben die Unterkunft für zwei Nächte gebucht. Bei der Ankunft (relativ spät) wurde uns bereits gesagt, das es möglicherweise Probleme geben könnte, welche nicht weiter beschrieben wurden. Es könnte sein, dass wir am nächsten Tag auschecken müssten. Danach fragte der Host uns ein bisschen über unsere weitere Planung aus und ob wir eine Safari machen würden. Wir sagten ihm, dass wir für den nächsten Tag bereits eine Safari gebucht hatten. Er wiederholte nochmal, dass es Probleme geben könne, er sich nochmal mit seinem Bruder bespräche, wir aber für diese Nacht sicher bleiben könnten. Ein bis zwei Stunden später kam er dann nochmal zu uns um uns zu berichten, dass es am nächsten Tag ab 10Uhr zu Problemen kommen würde, weshalb wir uns für die nächste Nacht eine andere Unterkunft suchen müssten. Andere Gäste mit denen wir uns unterhielten, die bei ihm eine überteuerte Safari gebucht hatten, durften weiter bleiben.

From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Kavandu Maika Safari Lodge we had an excellent experience. We arrived prior to check in and Kavandu took the time to share information about the town and the Safari that they offer. He provided excellent information and we never felt pressured or obligated. Our room was perfect with two large beds, an excellent air conditioner and comfortable patio. We also used the pool in the afternoon. I should also note we arrived by bus and the lodge is a short 10 minute walk from town and easy location to access restaurants or other necessary supplies. We opted for the 1/2 day safari offered by Maika Safari Lodge and Kavandu was at our door at 5:15 so we would be ready to leave at 5:30. The price of the Safari was really fair and our driver (Samitha) was very good. The breakfast provided during the Safari was excellent along with cold water and snacks. Truly an unforgettable day and we would 100% recommend Maika Safari Lodge. Samitha - Driver/Guide

Very minor issues - there was a bit of an odour in the bathroom and there's really no shade area around the pool.

Wie bei der Buchung zu sehen liegt das Hotel relativ weit außerhalb und dadurch fern von Restaurants. Safari war gut organisiert, aber wahrscheinlich mit 75€ (halbtags) relativ teuer.

Incroyable accueil du gérant et de tout le personnel !! Établissement extrêmement propre et entretenu (dès très tôt le matin). Piscine parfaite après safari ou simplement se relaxer Très bon dîner lors duquel le gérant propose même de resservir et de profiter). Bon Petit dej également. Entouré d'une très belle végétation tropicale. Endroit hyper calme. Petit marché local à faire à proximité. Rapport qualité / prix plus qu'au RDV. Très bon emplacement pour faire Safari (à 20' entrée parc). Pour tout cela, on comprend en effet très bien la qualité des avis sur Booking.

Super Liebes, hilfsbereites und freundliches Team. Hat uns eine tolle Safari mit sensationellen Frühstück Organisiert. Die Bungalows sind sauber, groß und gemütlich eingerichtet. Super Pool zum Entspannen. Kann man nur weiterempfehlen. Bei dem günstigen Preis hab ich VIEL weniger erwartet. Waren positiv überrascht.

Extremely professionals for the udawalawe safari.The reason is we not had any arrangements for the udawalawe safari.But we said we need to do the safari and they arrange us best ever safari for us.We both enjoy that and our breakfast and cool drinks,Tea time everything they served in the national park. Super lovely staff/ owners. They were so attentive and helpful. They also provide a super generous and delicious breakfast. Our room was amazing for its price and we were super impressed with the swimming pool. They also organised our safari for us which was amazing and honestly had an incredible experience. Das Preis - Leistungsverhältniss ist top!! Wir konnten direkt über die Unterkunft eine Safari buchen bzw. ist dies auch das Konzept der Unterkunft. Der Besitzer hat uns zu einer halbtags Safari in einer Gruppe geraten für ca. 60$, dies war genau die richtige Entscheidung, der Guide war sehr bemüht, fuhr langsam und nahm sich für die Tiere viel Zeit, es gab auch ein sehr gutes, einfaches Frühstück kann ich jederzeit empfehlen. Die Unterkunft war auch sehr schön vorbereitet und der Pool sieht genauso aus wie beschrieben. Für uns hat eine Nacht dort ausgereicht, da die safari von 5:30 Uhr bis ca. 12:30 Uhr geht.

Der pool war sehr trüb und warm. Die Dusche überflutete leider das gesamte Bad, da die ohne Abgrenzung zum Rest des Badezimmers gebaut war, die Badezimmertür lies sich nicht ganz schließen sowie das Badezimmer Fenster dadurch kamen einige Mücken ins Zimmer, es gab allerdings ein Netz. Es gab keine Föhn.

Everything was really great. You get a beautiful pool, very nice apartment, great owner and an amazing Safari. They have the best driver we really saw a lot of animal and he took his time so I recommend to everyone.

J’ai été un peu déçue par le safari, j’aurais aimé plus de commentaires et d’informations de la part du guide (qui au demeurant n’était qu’un chauffeur +++, très gentil et serviable!) après je pense que c’est la norme vu le business qui se fait autour des safaris :) Pour info nous avons payé 50 000 SKR pour un safari de 4h avec 2 adultes et 2 enfants de 3 et 5 ans

So ein freundlicher Gastgeber und mit der schönste Pool auf der Reise. Unser Zimmer hatte spontan ein Problem, aber es wurde ein anderes gefunden und wir waren total zufrieden. Konnten sogar unsere Wäsche dort waschen lassen. Wir hatten den Nationalpark schon gebucht, das war aber kein Problem. Wir bekamen auch ein leckeres Frühstück früh morgens. Wir wären gern länger geblieben, da man am Pool und im Garten gut entspannen kann!

Die Lage ist für eine Safari super und das Frühstück extrem lecker !

Wir haben vor der Buchung mehrfach nach all den Details der Safari gefragt, ins besondere das der Guide erfahren ist und die Tiere ihm wichtig sind. Leider war die Safari überhaupt nicht so wie abgesprochen, zu allererst ging sie statt 5 Stunden nur 3,5. Dann ist unser Guide viel zu schnell an die Elefanten ran gefahren, er hat sie damit verscheucht und wir haben mindestens 15 Minuten damit verbracht dort zu stehen weil er dadurch zurecht lauten Streit mit anderen guides hatte. Statt einer fröhlichen Safari mussten wir also in dem Jeep sitzen und hören wie er mit anderen Leuten laut streitet. Bevor wir die Safari gebucht hatten, hatten wir eigentlich ein anderes besseres Angebot gehabt von einem Freund von uns, leider haben wir uns sehr unter Druck gesetzt gefühlt die Safari bei der Unterkunft zu buchen und bereuen es jetzt sehr. Ansonsten war die Unterkunft aber super, bis auf das mit der Safari war der Host lieb. Ich weiß auch nicht ob dem Host bewusst ist was für guides ed da mit seine Gästen weg schickt, aber nochmal buchen würde ich da nicht, lieber bei jemanden wo man sich sicher sein kann das die Safari für die Tiere angenehm ist.

Unglaubliches Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Wir waren skeptisch, ob es für den Preis wirklich so gut sein kann. Aber man kann den Bewertungen ruhig trauen. Schöne Anlage, sehr freundliches Personal, hilft bei allem. Frühstück für Safari und in der Lodge gut. Abendessen waren wir gleich in der Nähe, dort gibt es einiges. Zimmer und Bad sauber, moderne Klimaanlage mit Sleepmodus, Warmwasser (hat 1 Tag gut funktioniert, 1 Tag weniger). Pool war schön essen und sehr sauber, haben auch gesehen, dass er gereinigt wird. Wichtig ist natürlich bei dem Preis, die Safari dort zu buchen. Für die Safari haben wir (2 Erwachsene, ein 4-Jähriger, ein Einjähriger) 54.000 rupia gezahlt inkl Parkeintritt und privatem Jeep. Wir können nur jedem, der keinen Luxus benötigt, empfehlen, hier zu übernachten! Danke für den schönen Aufenthalt!

We absolutely loved our stay here at Maika Safari Lodge. The staff were so lovely and they helped us book a really great safari. Breakfast and pool were lovely. At the end of our stay, we were provided with help and advice regarding public transport. This was greatly appreciated. Excellent value for money, would recommend.

Hôtel très sympa avec piscine à côté du parc. Bien évidemment nous savions que la réservation à ce prix induirait de prendre le safari avec l'hôtel. Même si je pense que les prix des safaris proposés sont plus chers que devant le parc, l'ensemble avec les chambres et le petit déjeuner reste dans les prix moyens d'Udalawe, avec une bonne prestation. Le petit déjeuner est excellent Vous avez un restaurant en face, ce qui peut dépanner si l''hôtel ne propose pas de dîner.

Günstig, zentral gelegen, komfortabel. Der Besitzer ist super hilfsbereit. Wie überall im Ort ist die Safari mit der Unterkunft verknüpft, daher fließt die Bewertung leider hier mit ein. Der Fahrer war super nett und ist auch auf unsere Wünsche, insbesondere die Tiere nicht allzu sehr zu stören, eingegangen. Gleichzeitig war er aber auch der „Guide“. Dafür war die Safari vergleichsweise teuer. Ferngläser gab es erst nicht, auf Nachfrage dann leider nur ein Kleines für 4 Leute. Womit man zum einen außer der Elefanten relativ wenig sieht und vermutlich auch deutlich weniger erklärt und erzählt bekommt… Zudem ist fragwürdig warum so viele Jeeps im Park mit nur wenigen Personen besetzt sind. Würde nicht jeder sein eigenes Business verfolgen, würden deutlich weniger Jeeps im Park unterwegs sein…

Zatím nejlepší místo na Sri Lance kde jsme spali. Pohodlná postel, chatka byla čistá a navíc jsme byli hned u bazénu, skvělé osvěžení po safari (nejvíce ocenilo moje dítě🙂). Ubytování je velmi levné a počítejte s tim, ze vám majitel nabídne svoje zprostředkování safari. Službu jsme využili a byli jsme moc spokojení !

What a wonderful place - we couldn't recommend Maika safari lodge- the perfect place to stay for your Udawalawe Safari! The pictures online do not do this place justice! We extended our stay at the last minute to add on an extra night - on the booking site we had to switch to a smaller room due to their availability but when we arrived they were happy to let us stay in our larger room and didn't charge us extra. It was wonderful to extend our stay as the pool and balcony areas were exceptional - such a nice place to relax with a book after an early day out in the park. All the staff were so welcoming, went above and beyond and you could book a very reasonable and well reviewed safari with them direct, ditto on transfers to other parts of the island. The room was huge, so clean and felt like real luxury!

Vi bookede safari gennem hotellet og blev efterfølgende gjort opmærksom på, at vi havde betalt ret meget i overpris - næsten dobbelt . Taget hotellets billige pris for overnatning i betragtning er det ok, men jeg bryder mig ikke så meget om intransperansen.

Super günstige und gemütliche Unterkunft. Sie Betten waren sehr groß und es gab Moskitonetze. Nette Bungalows und super nettes Personal, das einem beim Safari buchen hilft.

Dadurch, dass es in der Natur ist gab es Insekte im Badezimmer (Weberknechte und Ameisen)

The rooms were comfortable and well maintained, the food was delicious, and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. This hotel truly delivers a complete safari experience with luxury and relaxation combined.The safari experience was absolutely incredible, with well-organized game drives, expert guides, and unforgettable wildlife sightings in their natural habitat. After an exciting safari, relaxing at the beautiful swimming pool was a real highlight, clean, spacious, and surrounded by stunning views.

Alojamiento inmejorable calidad precio, bien cuidado, trato personal, cercano. Elegimos la habitación con aire acondicionado, así que no pasamos calor, es una zona muy calorosa. Nos ofrecieron el safari que hicimos con ellos.

El safari es un poco caro, pero sin mucha diferencia a los de la zona

La piscine, la proximité du parc, l'organisation du safari, le petit déjeuner (inclus) et le souper sur place, la climatisation, la salle de bains, la disponibilité et la sympathie du personnel, la propreté de la chambre.

L'absence de papier toilette, le site à encore aménager/construire, les mouches omniprésentes (odeur de cadavre animal ? proche).
