Reviewed Oct 26, 2025Start to finish, we felt so pampered and cared for. Of the beaten track, this quiet and charming place was the ideal for a couple's getaway. Please do opt in for dinner, breakfast and the ATV farm tour. We loved our stay! Special thanks to Aaron, Chef Stuart and Station Manager James.

Reviewed Jun 10, 2025This place is truly an oasis in the middle of such a beautiful part of the country. And from the moment you step out of your car, you are welcomed to an incredible stay by the most professional and warm staff I think I’ve ever met.
In winter the tile floor was a bit cold in the bathroom and would like a stronger shower pressure but it was fine. No real issues.

The chef and his team prepared an amazing feast using only the best local ingredients. This was by far the one of the best experiences I've had in all my travels around the world. Kudo to The Karaka Lodge for their organization and delivery.
I wish I could have stayed longer.

They made sure all our needs were met but allowing us the privacy to enjoy the peace and beauty of the Te Karaka lodge surroundings. Our meals, prepared by the master chef, Franz were as good as we have experienced in any restaurant . Only the finest ingredients selected by him. Presented beautifully with attention to detail and creating wonderfully unique taste combinations. We cannot recommend Te Karaka Lodge highly enough for that special get away in the country. We will be back.

Reviewed Dec 29, 2024Had a wonderful stay at Te Karaka Lodge, Aaron and Danielle were amazing hosts and Franz cooked very delicious food! It is isolated out in the countryside and exactly what we were looking for some time to unwind, it was amazing to see all the stars as we luckily has clear sky's our second night. Everything is new and a high standard, beautiful design inside. We also loved Steve the friendly cat.

Reviewed Feb 4, 2024Everything is perfect about this place. The road from Auckland to the property was a bit rocky but totally worth the trouble. It is such a quiet relaxing hideaway and this is what I have always envisioned of NZ. Aaron and Danielle are wonderful hosts and make you feel welcomed and at ease the whole time. The dinner prepared by Chef Dom is also superb. Have to come back again for a longer stay!

Reviewed Dec 12, 2023We have stayed many incredible and beautiful places all over the world. Te Karaka Lodge is completely in a class by itself! Everything and everyone in this place is superb. There is not one little detail which is not lovingly cared for by the staff. It is a gorgeous place in gorgeous surroundings. There were 4 of us and we were very sad not to be able to book a second night. Dinner was indescribable. Every presentation rivaled a masterpiece painting. We have many pictures of both dinner and breakfast the following morning! An exquisite and memorable place which we loved and appreciated to the fullest.
