Denise is the perfect host, lovely homely feel to the B&B and Denise went above and beyond. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Delicious breakfast and even advice on sightseeing options. Bed super comfy. Highly recommended

Wir haben uns bei Denise in ihrem gemütlichen B&B in Melville sehr wohlgefühlt. Es hat alles gepasst, die Zimmer, das Frühstück, die Lage und vor allem die tolle Gastfreundschaft. Wenn wir noch mal nach Joburg kommen, werden wir auf jeden Fall wieder bei Denise zu Gast sein.

The location offers a peaceful and tranquil environment, free from the busyness and distractions typically associated with crowded areas. Its quiet atmosphere provides an ideal setting for relaxation, reflection, and focused activities.

One aspect I did not particularly like was noticing that staff entered my room while I was away. Although I understand this is likely permitted under the establishment's policies, it caught me by surprise because I was not expecting it. It would have been helpful to be informed about this practice beforehand, as it would have prevented the unexpected feeling when I returned.

Veľmi pekná lokalita v tichom a bezpečnom prostredí. Autom sú ľahko dostupné všetky zaujímavé lokality Johannesburgu. Izby boli čisté a dobre vybavené, raňajky tiež výborné. Veľmi milá a ochotná poradiť bola aj majiteľka.

It was a wonderful, quiet, and safe place in Melville. The property was exceptionally clean, with a great breakfast and reliable internet. The garden and surrounding area were very beautiful and relaxing. The host, Denise, was incredibly welcoming and wonderful to chat with. Johannesburg can feel intimidating at times, but I felt very safe staying at this accommodation.

I had not read the description so I booked upstairs. That made it a challenge to get my heavy suitcase upstairs 😔

there's nothing bad about the place really, it's just the location of it that's all, simply because you have drive on a lot of step hills, either than that, it's pretty awesome

Denise is a charming hostess. The accommodation is perfectly situated, comfortable and has a wonderful, friendly vibe. Delicious breakfast. Secure parking. I would definitely return when in the area and I highly recommend it to local and international travellers.

Everything and the B&B is wonderful, but the best is Denise, she is always making sure that you are ok, she recommends wonderful places and tries to help you in everything even if you need advise from other cities. Hope to come back and stay here!

Great location in Melville. The breakfast was very good and Denise is a very friendly host

If you want to travel to Johannesburg - this is the accomodation you should choose! Denise - the owner, breakfast chef, local guidebook - has just been great. The B&B is how it should be: a nice room (not large, but sure enough sufficient for a few days), clean, with access to a living room inside and a nice terrace outside, with a good breakfast and an a welcoming, personal atmosphere. In addition, Melville, the neighborhood the B&B is located, is beautiful with nice houses and gardens, even green streets. In addition, the 7th Street in Melville, just a few minutes to walk up, is a lively, diverse and still secure part of Jo'burg to have coffee in the afternoon, food and drink in the evening. As security is an issue in Johannesburg, this is really is one of the safer parts. It might not be in the city center itself (ie Rosebank etc.), but if you prefer an individual B&B over a big hotel in a mall, this is your place to stay. And as you have to go by car/Uber in Jo'burg anyway, the location should suit everybody well. (Parkin is not an issue, too, there are parking spaces on the location.)

Well, let's see... nothing. All is fine and we would choose this B&B again, if staying in Johannesburg.

O café da manhã estava delicioso e a Denise é uma ótima anfitriã. Ela mora numa casa muito aconchegante, fez uma salada de frutas deliciosa e nos deu ótimas dicas. Muito simpática e ainda acordou cedo para preparar o nosso café! Amamos a estadia.

Apenas a localização é que talvez não seja muito boa, um pouco afastado do agito.

Ms Denise, lovely, friendly lady and very helpful lady. I enjoyed chatting with her. She is socializing easily and she entered the heart without permission. I want to advise any one non native English speaker to come to her and learn from chatting with her. She is telling you where to go and when to go. I have always listened to her advices about the journeys and trips in South Africa. I love the experiment very much.

Denise was a wonderful host. It was a pleasure to chat with her about this and that and she was so helpful with my daily trips. The house is situated in Mellville in a safe area. It is a lovely house with a small garden. The rooms are decorated beautifully and the bed was very comfortable. I had booked breakfast and was served a nice and fresh breakfast every morning. If I ever come back to Johannesburg I‘ll definitely stay there again.

The B&B was within walking distance of downtown Melville, which featured several nice restaurants and shops. The host offered a fine breakfast, including granola, toast, fresh fruit, juice, coffee and tea. In addition she cooked eggs, bacon, and sausages. The beds had electric blankets, in case the nights were chilly, which were much appreciated.

I stayed at Denis' BnB on 8th Avenue for two nights—the final stop on my trip to Johannesburg—and I’m so glad I chose to stay there. Her BnB is beautifully maintained and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Even in winter, the space felt warm and cozy, especially with the electric blanket she provided. The garden is lovely and offers a sense of calm, even during the colder season. Denis, who is also a tour guide, is incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and a joy to talk to. When I faced some difficulties with my tour, she generously shared her insights and experiences, which helped me navigate the situation smoothly. Her breakfast is not only delicious but also a wonderful opportunity to chat with her and other guests—it really adds to the homely atmosphere. Johannesburg can be a challenging city to explore as a tourist, but Denis' BnB provided a peaceful and welcoming retreat after long days out. The neighborhood is safe and pleasant to walk around, and I especially enjoyed morning strolls after breakfast. I highly recommend staying at Denis’ BnB to anyone visiting Jo'burg—it’s a warm, restful, and truly special place.

Denise's acommodation is really well prepared to receive any one who wants, as the title says, a cozy and warm place to be, specially if it's winter, like it was for me and my wife. The room has everything you need to not leave the room, if you wish - really really well equipped. The bath is really warm, it has a hitter at our disposal, and the bed even has it's own hitter, on both sides. The TV has netflix, the towels are good and fluffly, the sheets, the pillows, the banklets, everything of really good quality. On the outside of your room, you will find also a little table with two chairs and - for the smokers - an ashtray to call yours. As if all of this wasn't enough, you are allowed to use the kitchen and the common area (there is a fireplace in the living room) of the house, in which Denise leaves, on the top floor. Don't worry, though, you will have your privacy. To finalize, about the location: Melville is not that close to the center and Mandela Square, for example, but the house is really well located at Melville, being less than 5 minutes of walking distance from the neighbourhood's most cool restaurants and bars.

The only thing that could be better is the location, thinking of the whole city.

It was a lovely stay. My mum called it home away from home. It is just that. Nice and cozy, and homey.

This B&B exceeded my expectations. The host, Denise, is lovely. It is located in a quiet, safe, yet central neighbourhood. There's a beautiful garden. The matrasses are amazing and the rooms very clean. This place is suitable for a short trip, but could also work very well for a longer stay (few weeks, months) as you have your own fridge and could possibly use the kitchen. As a woman travelling alone I felt at safe and welcome here.

I would highly recommend staying at this BnB. The host, Denise, is a very helpful and welcoming lady. The rooms are clean, quiet, in a central and safe neighbourhood of joburg. The matrasses are very nice - I had a great rest! The bnb has a wonderful garden and generally good vibes, with many returning customers. It is great value for money and next time I would definitely return.

The water was shut down because there was an issue with something/someone running the water. Was an inconvenience as we had somewhere to be that morning.

Friendly staff, breakfast was excellent. Bed comfortable. Room size was just right. We were lucky as we had a lovely balcony to sit on. There is a garage to park your car and a cute resident cat. The suburb is quite central and don't forget the cat charity shop close by.

The stairs was the only challenge as our one suitcase was quite heavy.

I liked how the property was so big, spacious, and had a lot of green spaces. I loved the dining room table and how it reminded me of a castle in a Disney movie. The overall setup of the property was top notch.

The property is a home and Denise is a wonderful host. She offers a lovely, nutritional breakfast and all essential facilities for a super comfortable stay. The location was also great as I felt safe and I was surrounded by good restaurants and a big mall. It was perfect for me.

This cozy house-turned-B&B is a great affordable option in the winter. The rooms are well-stocked with coffee, biscuits, and shampoo/soaps. When it was cold out, the owner had a fire going in the living room and the bed had an electric blanket. The breakfast was phenomenal with lots of different options. And the laundry service was impeccable and quick.

The neighborhood isn't as walkable as I'd like, and doesn't have much in the way of restaurants/cafes. I have no complaints about the B&B itself, but will mention for the sake of other Americans who might not be used to non-US sized lodging that the rooms are on the small side.

The breakfast was exceptional, and the location was perfect.
