A1 Weligama Hotel & Spa

There was an electrical fire which resulted in an outage, so we had to leave after only two nights with five nights already paid. The staff promised I would get the amount paid for the three nights back via transfer and to come back the next day. I did, everything was closed and stayed close until we left for the airport. The staff never again replied to any messages. The customer service for the hotel that I reached out to said they would take care of it and also stopped replying so I had to contact the booking.com customer service. Terrible service and incredibly dishonest. In addition to that there’s ants in the room and the floorboards are falling apart. Pool is dirty. Do not spend your money here.

Breakfast was delicious and plenty of it. The staff are all very friendly abs helpful.

The location was fantastic, with one of the rooms we booked facing the ocean. The rooms were super clean and spacious.

I wish there was complementary tea/coffee for mornings, which would have been good!

Excellent location and lovely cabin style room with good Air conditioning. Glass front in the room gives an excellent view of the beachfront. Beach is perfect for surfing with lessons offered just in front of the property.

Service was good, staff was very responsive. Food presentation was also good. View was excellent, rooms overlooking the ocean.

Although the place was generally clean, and most of the devices in the room were functional, they could have done a better job with the external appearance. Beautiful large glass "windows" overlooking the ocean was quite dirty hampering the view. The blinds worked, but did not keep the lights out at night.

I booked this hotel for 5 nights, but the conditions were so bad that I had to check out after the third night. The room was in very poor shape: parts of the ceiling were taped together and falling down, the floor had visible cracks, the mattress was dirty and the Wi-Fi in my room didn’t work at all — despite me asking the staff several times to fix it. Cleanliness was a serious concern. On my third night, I found a large (about 4 cm) cockroach coming from under the bed. It was truly distressing. Staff came to remove it and placed chemical substances all over the room, which made me feel even more uncomfortable. In the morning, I informed the manager I would be checking out early. He acknowledged the poor state of the room and promised to refund the last two nights. However, for over a month, he kept coming up with excuses and stories about why the refund couldn’t be processed — and, of course, the money was never returned. On top of all this, there was constant loud music from a neighboring café and the lobby downstairs. My room's wall was adjacent to the café and the noise made it nearly impossible to rest. If you want to enjoy your vacation, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. It was one of the most unpleasant and stressful stays I’ve had.

The hotel is located across the road from the sea and numerous surf schools. On the beach, you can buy coconuts and relax in comfort. Surprisingly, the proximity to the road did not disturb our sleep, and a comfortable temperature in the room can be maintained with the air conditioner and fan. The restaurant on the ground floor takes care of dining needs, and hotel guests receive a discount on the entire menu. The family room is very spacious. It can accommodate a family of four or even five if young children sleep with their parents—the bed is incredibly large. Unlike most hotels in Sri Lanka, the shower is equipped with a curtain. A small detail, but the absence of puddles on the floor makes washing much more comfortable.

The hotel is located across the road from the beach. The breakfast is nice. It was comfortable. On the Windows, there are stickers that ruined the view of the seafront. The waiting time for the food was very long, at least 30 mins.

Nice hotel, friendly and caring staff, has everything you need in the room. I really liked that the cutlery is adapted to European standards, and the refrigerator is still working, it's cool.

I didn't like the fact that the walls and floor were made of wood. It's not bad, but there are cracks where lizards crawl in and we saw one in the morning. It was not very pleasant. The panoramic window was very dirty. There was also an unpleasant odor in the toilet. The price for this hotel is very high, we had much better options for this money.

The exceptional hospitality with clean and comfortable rooms is what I generally expect from a hotel and A1 exceeded my expectations...Thank you.....

Loud music late at night from the bar next door prevented me from sleeping. Breakfast was not good, I would advise to go out and get breakfast. Lovely view, but blinds very thin and sunshines into room as soon as it comes up.

The location is the best in Weligama. It's next to the beachfront, moreover, it's the only location along the beach with a view of the water and other places hidden by trees. Everything is close: good cafes, surfing, beach club and coworking. The room is spacious for 2 adults and one baby. The staff is very welcoming and nice.

The WIFI connection is not good, not possible/difficult to watch streaming series. The view from the room is great, but it's possible to see you in the room from the street. So sometimes you need to close windows with curtains.

The staff was super lovely and helped us with everything we wanted and more. Always smiling and cheerful to us. The location is perfect for beach and surfing and many great restaurants near by!

We were in a prime location… you just cross the street and youre right on the beach where all the surf rentals are We are a family of 4… and we had lots of room for everyone My wife and kid got a massage and they loved it The food was nice so was the swimming pool with refreshing water The staff was lovely And you can walk to much restaurants around

Since it is right in front of the beach it was a little loud from other surrending bars etc But i guess its the downside of being right in town close the the action But we still had some great night sleeps

The location is perfect with beautiful sea views. The value for money is excellent, the rooms and facilities are clean, and the staff truly stands out with their exceptional, warm, and very helpful service. I also can really recommend enjoying a massage in the spa. I would definitely return!

Location is perfect: in the middle of beach, where most of surf schools located. The pool is perfect. Personnel are so nice and helpful! Listened for the feedback and helped with the issues. Rooftop restaurant is the good place to relax. Thank you!

Excellent value for money 🌻 The view from the rooms facing the see is the best! The stuff is so nice and so willing to help! I got injured in a surf accident And they went to the pharmacy and brought me pain pills ✅🙏🏻✅ Helped me with everything I needed 🌼🌼🌼 Text me all the time if I need something Plus - it’s a meter from the beach 🏖️ And e meter from all the surf schools 🏄🏻‍♀️ And - the lady that does massage is one the best!

Very beautiful location.Very good staff with good service.Also they provided us with high level of service for the price we paid. They also have the best spa in weligama. We will definitely come back to this hotel again. And I recommended this place to every traveler ❤️

Nothing everything was perfect

Kind and polite staff, nice shower, close to the beach. You will be told they serve english breakfast but it’s not - it’s eggs with toast and some processed ham as well as fresh fruit. Good enough but we’ve had much better during our stay in Sri Lanka (first time without fresh juice) :)

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend for families due to the very loud techno music played in the hotel lobby till late hours (a bit strange as there were no guests there but the music still played making it sound as if there was a party which made it hard for kids to fall and stay asleep) The hotel is weirdly constructed with an open plan so our room door was the only thing that separated us from the street which made us hear every car passing by (still not as distracting as the lobby music)

Really nice pool, nice staff and nice rooms with a beautiful view and nice balcony. Think it's great value for money. Especially a triple room if you're staying with a mate as I was.

The only thing I'd recommend for A1, is to try and sound proof the bedrooms a little more - just from outside noise. This wouldn't bother many people, but I'm really sensitive to noise 🙃.

This is a new hotel.The staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable.Pool is very clean. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning and loved the convenient location close to major attractions.Also they have my favourite dish of wood oven pizza....I really love it.And one more thing....The Ayurvedic Massage is very nice & these days they have special discount of one thousand of rupees.Don't think twice to come here.......Highly recommend to everyone.......🫡❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
