Reviewed Aug 8, 20269 on Windsor is a great place to stay if you appreciate close proximity to what makes Kalkbay special. It is extremely well equipped with everything you need. All of it of high quality. What we appreciated most were the "little things" The coffe pods were there, a variety of teas, even some rusks, fruit and even 2 bottles of wine. The bathroom had all the little things you needed, again, high quality. The firewood was even there - all the extras included That is rare. For me it's a big thing that there are enough coat hangers available. Again, not to be faulted. We enjoyed our stay very much. The attribute of Cottage was misleading, I was expecting a stand alone cottage, however, that's impossible in that location of Houtbay. Thank you Vee for a great stay.

Reviewed Jun 3, 2026The hosts were fantastic and there was such a sense of generosity with everything they did. The kitchen was beautifully equipped with everything you needed plus some. The fridge was stocked with all sorts of extra yummy things if you were self-catering. Beds were comfy and there was a TV if needed. Lovely cosy fire with plenty of wood for a cold wet weekend. Situated just 30m around the corner from Olympia Cafe and Salt . An ideal stay for a couple of nights , we will be back.
Parking is a bit dicey , the road is narrow and the parking seems to be taken up by local residents so need to park on the other side of the Main Road, only an issue if it's raining but this was definitely not a game changer.

Reviewed Apr 6, 2026The attention to detail - Africology soap, freah fruit basket and fresh milk and butter in the fridge - the unit was absolutely perfect 👌🏻 The hosts also accommodated pur request for an early check in. The unit is so conveniently located in the middle of Kalk Bay. Really great place and I would stay there again!

Reviewed Jan 25, 2026A quaint little two-bedroom cottage just a short stroll off Main Road, perfectly positioned to enjoy everything Kalk Bay has to offer without having to tackle steep hills. Everything is within easy walking distance. The cottage is well kitted out and very comfortable. The bed was particularly comfortable, and while we did not make much use of the kitchen, it was adequately equipped, well laid out, and everything worked as it should. The décor is tasteful and welcoming. The choice of restaurants, cafés, and spots for drinks or snacks nearby feels endless, all just a few minutes away on foot. The hosts were amazing and provided excellent information, making both arrival and check-out completely seamless. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to stay in one of the most picturesque coastal towns in the country. We plan to be back again fairly soon.
There has been criticism about the lack of dedicated parking. This is Kalk Bay. Almost every place has parking challenges.

Parking can be an issue if you come by your own car but arrangements can be made with the hosts who were so helpful!

The location is superb, we strolled to the shops and restaurants and felt really safe walking around. Although its off street parking we never struggled to find parking. Reviewed Apr 22, 2025The cottage is decorated beautifully and is comfortable for 4 people. Lovely little touches throughout, and easter eggs on our pillows. Extra snacks and fruit was much appreciated. The location is excellent for exploring Kalkbay on foot.
Finding parking in the small street is difficult. Apartment is a bit smaller than expected, but very pretty nontheless and space is used well. Perfect for a few nights, I will find it a little cramped during longer stays. There is no view from the apartment, but all of Kalkbay and the views are very close by.

The choice of materials, decoration and even plumbing is inspired (the shower gives you a massage). Stunning.. Oh forgot to say the location is brilliant too!

The cottage is incredibly close to the local cafes and shops and a short walk to the harbor and beach. Although still quiet as far enough away from the main road. All in all, a fabulous place to stay.

Reviewed Oct 11, 2024There were so many extra special touches: snacks and sparkling water in the kitchen, lovely Africology products in the bathroom, fresh proteas in vases throughout the cottage....the last goes on. The cottage is perfectly situation - close to Main Riad but not too close, so there is no noise from traffic. Comfortable beds with lovely linen and Lindt chocs on our pillows. The kitchen is well equipped, and the decor is beautifully done. What a wonderful stay.

Reviewed Apr 29, 2024Could not recommend this place enough. The owner Glen and his wife are absolutely lovely. We only met them briefly when we got the keys, pure good vibes right away. The apartment is honestly perfect, it has absolutely everything you need and we couldn't believe the attention to detail and little extras that they provide like milk in the fridge for your morning coffee or tea (all provided). Several jars filled with SA crisps, candy, cookies - so sweet. Fridge also had eggs and a bunch of other things. We of course forgot our toothpaste - but also that was provided. Honestly, above and beyond and not something I've experienced before. The bed and pillows are perfect, best sleep we both had in a while! Location is super, with a great restaurant right on the corner for great wine in the evening and delicious coffee and breakfast in the morning. Do yourself a favor and stay here - you won't regret it! Thank you again Glen!!

We were very grateful for the washing machine and drier and made a lovely meal one night in the well equipped kitchen (just needed some large spoons to dish up, otherwise everything was there). We walked down to the cafés for breakfast and perfect location for exploring the main road of Kalk Bay - so many gorgeous shops, cafés, bars, restaurants, galleries!! We’re a family of four, with two teenage girls who are not easy to impress… they LOVED the cottage! Very instagrammable!!
The front windows don’t open and the back door doesn’t have a security gate, so we didn’t want to leave it open when we slept. So it was a little warm, but nothing serious.
