Reviewed Aug 25, 2026Our company sends multiple people to travel hundreds of thousands of miles, from coast to coast, on an annual basis. For the recent Epic UGM event, in Verona, Wisconsin, we decided to stay at the same location that was used for the previous two Epic XGM events, the Sleep Inn & Suites Verona. The rooms were clean and, candidly, we could save a little money versus the Holiday Inn or Marriott, which are just down the street. Understandably, during the Epic UGM event, the rooms were dynamically priced higher than usual. And, we were essentially forced to use Booking.com due to availability. All of that is fine. What is not acceptable, is the ‘refund’ we were given when we did not need the last night of a six-day reservation. Previously, the nightly rate was in the $150 range. The average during the Epic UGM event was around $500 per night. Again, we understand the pricing, that is not the problem. We attempted to contact the property, through Booking.com, to discuss the last night of the reservation. We received no response. Once on property, we made the situation known. Upon deciding that the last night was no longer necessary, the Sleep Inn front counter staff told us we must contact Booking.com. Naturally, Booking.com informed us that we must speak with the staff on property. You can imagine how delightful this was. After wasting more of our time (AI is simply not that good, yet) than one should expect, the Booking.com and the Sleep Inn front counter staff collaborated and a refund was approved. Yet, with an average night’s stay of approximately $500, the refunded amount was $168.75. You are now probably thinking the same thing. How can this be? Is this the amount that we should have been paying all along or a manipulated amount? Yes. We did, too. We only send this letter as an opportunity for Sleep Inn and Suites, Booking.com, and Choice Hotels to improve their service. Generally, people do not say a word. They just leave

the pool was closed, no laundry facilities. Housekeeping came only once during our 5 day stay, I think partly because they came so early in the morning and we were still there and they never came back. The breakfast also did not look appetizing at all. Also, my car was side swiped in the parking lot so that sucked.

Not very many places to sit in the breakfast area. We had to wait for a table and had to stand while waiting. Also, no benches, chairs or tables outside. No where to sit outside to enjoy a coffee and/or a smoke. The pool is super small and was closed for renovation during our stay.

The only problem was young children were out in the hallway and lobby after 10:00 pm. They were loud with occasional screaming. A very loud argument ensued between an adult male who was unable to sleep due to the loud children and other men (I assume the children’s fathers) in the hallway. Very disturbing with the use of inappropriate language (f-bombs were going out numerous times) and very loud! I know this is not the fault of the hotel but I don’t think the staff tried to stop the argument. It lasted about 10 minutes! Maybe there should be signage indicating quiet hours from 9:00 pm or 10:00 pm until 8:00 am. I was about ready to call the police to come and stop the fighting.

Reviewed Sep 30, 2025The only issue we had with our room was that we arrived late (around 11:30 PM) to find there were at least 10 fly sized bugs crawling around in the sink. They were climbing out from the drain and the 3 overflow holes. We were able to kill them and plug the holes with kleenex and push down the drain plug. We did let the front desk know about this when checking out in the morning.

The only bad thing we did the booking based on the pictures of the hotel it showed a nice pool on the premises of the hotel, and when we did the check in they informed us that the pool was still closed under construction or renovations. It would have been nice to know of this before we finalized the booking since we were looking for a hotel that had a pool for our kids to enjoy during our stay.
