Mateus House - Porto da Cruz Center

Außergewöhnliche gute Ausstattung, extrem herzlicher Empfang. Die Dachterrasse ist groß und biete Blick über Porto da Cruz und das Meer. Zum Meer selbst braucht man keine 3 Minuten. Alles war sehr sauber und wir hatten eine grandiose Zeit! Gerne wieder!

Rodrigo was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We really loved the place, it was comfortable, welcoming, and had everything we needed. The roof terrace was absolutely amazing and definitely one of the highlights of our stay. Highly recommended!

The apartment is huge and has almost everything you need! Rodrigo is so nice and always available to answer questions or help out. The location is also great, right next to a few restaurants and very close to the beach and the pools (€1.50 for adults). We would definitely come back one day!

Parking: There are always options, but sometimes you have to search a bit. ​Dishwasher: A bit on the small side. ​AC: There is no air conditioning, so it got a little warm.

Really nice hosts. Loved the spacious feeling. It has mosquito nets in front of the windows.

No proper curtains to block the sun. The window to the rooftop is very loud. We couldn't open or close it without waking the kids. Really hot inside.

Tout ! La maison est excellemment bien située. A l’intérieur on profite vraiment de l’espace, tout est bien pensé et pratique. Mateus est en plus très généreux, il ne manque rien. Chaque pièce est parfaitement confortable et équipée.

Everything. The location, the owner, the facilities were amazing and for a good price. It’s right next to the beach where we surfed, right next to the best restaurant we ate in Madeira, they provide even free electric scooters and surf equipment, and everything you need. We enjoyed every moment here and I’m sure we might return some day.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

De host was super attent. De accommodatie was van alle gemakken voorzien en groter dan verwacht. Er wordt duidelijk veel aandacht besteed aan de inrichting van het huis, met mooie bloemen en andere decoraties.

Very comfortable and clean... great location! Walkable to stores and restaurants. The rooftop patio is amazing! Host is very helpful!

We loved this property - so well equipped and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The terrace is fantastic. The location has a buzz during the day and is quiet at night. There is a surf break nearby to watch and some lovely walks. Would very much recommend staying at Mateus House

Dit is het meest complete huis waar ik ooit verbleven ben. De ligging is gewoon ideaal op enkele meters van de kust, de bakker en de winkel. Vanop het dakterras heb je een fenomenaal uitzicht op de bergen en de zee. De keuken was gewoon volledig. Er was zelfs een airfryer aanwezig. De eigenaar voorziet ook nog eens elektrische steps, surfplanken, wetsuits, bbq, etc. Nog maar te zwijgen van het kleine vatje superlekkere Madeira wijn, waar je niet kan afblijven, en je krijgt nog een fles wijn, water en enkele biertjes erbij. De eigenaar is ook nog eens supervriendelijk en hulpzaam. De autoverhuurder kwam niet opdagen op de luchthaven, om ons op te pikken, dus springt de eigenaar in zijn wagen en is ons om 22h komen ophalen. Volgende keer dat we op Madeira gaan verblijven is er geen twijfel mogelijk...hier komen we zeker terug.

We had such a wonderful stay at Mateus House. The location was perfect for exploring the island, and the house itself was even bigger than the photos suggest — clean, tidy, and equipped with everything we needed. The rooftop was an unexpected bonus and made the stay even more special. We loved eating out in Porto da Cruz, but also enjoyed a cosy night in making garlic prawns with fresh bread and a cold vinho verde. Rodrigo and his wife were incredibly hospitable — warm, friendly, and great at communicating. They gave us excellent advice for places to visit, making our trip even better. We also enjoyed saying hello to the local cats each day. Porto da Cruz is an ideal base for exploring Madeira. From here, we visited some unforgettable spots: • PR9 Levada do Caldeirão Verde • The natural outdoor pool in Seixal • A misty and magical hike through Fanal Forest • A peaceful stroll in Porto Moniz • PR1 Pico do Arieiro to the Manta’s Nest viewpoint and Stairway to Heaven • A fantastic surfing lesson with Salty • A leg-stretching walk at Ponta de São Lourenço before returning to town For food, we highly recommend Baia do Bago down near the seafront — delicious dishes with a lovely view. A Pipa, just around the corner, was another great spot we enjoyed. We even squeezed in a fun toboggan ride with the Carreiros do Monte after a stroll up the side of Funchal — first ones down! Overall, Mateus House was the perfect place to stay — comfortable, welcoming, and ideally located for both relaxing and exploring. We would happily return.

L’accueil des propriétaires plein d’attention, de réactivité avant pendant et après la reservation. La maison à étages avec escalier safe pour un enfant de 2 ans et demi La terrasse est géniale Les chambres sont spacieuses et propres Avec rangement La Cuisine est fonctionnelle Le séjour est bien sympa aussi s’il pleut par ex. C’est une ancienne bâtisse entièrement rénovée avec charme.

Rien à dire

Bij aankomst waren de eigenaars aanwezig. We kregen verschillende geschenken (brood, drinken en koffie) en er zijn kruiden, olie, afwasproduct en een klein afwasmachine aanwezig (ook een kleine airfryer). Alles was super net. Ook surfplanken zijn voorzien (golfsurfen). De omgeving is geweldig, en op het terras zitten is super! Prachtige uitzichten en dicht bij verschillende wandelingen (half uur van Funchal en 15 min van luchthaven). De bakker op het plein, een kleine supermarkt aan de kerk en restaurants aan het strand/zwembad. En het weer is ideaal (zoals gelezen houden de bergen de wolken vaak vast waardoor het bewolkt kan blijven in het noorden, maar dat het op 15 min rijden in Machico zonnig is om op het strand te zitten).

Enige kleine nadeel is dat de groepen die de rum-destillerij komen bezoeken héél luidruchtig kunnen zijn. En dat de poort 's morgen met véél lawaai geopend wordt vanaf 8u30 (vlak naast de slaapkamer).

Die Lage direkt am Meer war fantastisch und Rodrigo als Gastgeber ganz besonders zuvorkommend. Das Haus war mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht. Es fehlte an nix. Besonders mochten wir die Dachterrasse, das komfortable Badezimmer und die Scooter.

Tagsüber waren viele Menschen im Ort aufgrund der Rumbrennerei direkt nebenan. Abends hat man dann aber wieder seine Ruhe. 🙂

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Zeit in Mateus House!! Die Wohnung bzw. das Haus ist toll eingerichtet und total sauber. Von der zur Wohnung gehörenden (wunderschönen) Dachterasse hat man einen tollen Blick über den Ort. Es hat absolut nichts gefehlt - die Ausstattung lässt keine Wünsche offen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Dankeschön für die tolle Zeit!!

De ruimte en de locatie. Het dorpje is fijn om in te verblijven. Je bent zo bij de kust, en bij de eettentjes. De bakker zit op nog geen twee minuten afstand. Het dakterras is fijn. Het appartement is van alle gemakken voorzien. Er is een vaatwasser, wasmachine, zwemhanddoeken etc. Er is een zwembad kortbij. De entreeprijs hiervan is niet duur. De restaurants: the Wave en Baja do Bago waren heel erg goed. En de pizza night op de hoek was ook leuk om te doen.

Alles wat je maar kan bedenken was aanwezig. Overal was aan gedacht. Het is schoon en netjes. Het is comfortabel en een mooie locatie vlakbij de kust. Op het dakterras staan fijne ligstoelen. Fijn dat er ook een wasmachine en kleine vaatwasser aanwezig is. Bedankt!

Helaas was het slecht weer en waren precies toen wij er waren veel restaurantjes dicht, dus we konden niet zo genieten als gehoopt... Maar niks aan te doen!

The location is absolutely perfect! 😍 Nestled in nature in the beautiful and peaceful northeast of Madeira, just a 15-minute drive from the airport. The house itself is modern, stylish and comes with a private rooftop terrace offering a stunning view. The owner welcomed us personally and was incredibly friendly and hospitable. He had prepared many things for our arrival and was always available via WhatsApp for any questions, which is very attentive and helpful. There were even scooters and surfboards in the house that we could use, which was a great bonus. Within walking distance, you’ll find restaurants, cafés, a supermarket and a beach.So everything you need is close by. All in all, I can wholeheartedly recommend this place. The combination of the amazing location, the modern house with a rooftop terrace and the friendliest host I’ve ever met made our stay truly special. Thank you, Rodrigo!☺️

This was one of the best stays I’ve ever had with a private host. The property is amazing, and they thought about everything you could possibly need from scooters to get around the village to a surf board, they even left some local treats as a welcome gift, which was such a lovely gesture! We had a wonderful stay at this apartment in Porto da Cruz, Madeira. The location is perfect, just 30 meters from the beach, allowing for easy access to the sea. The apartment was impeccably clean, with a fresh scent of cleanliness and laundry upon arrival. The kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped, providing everything needed for cooking, including pots, utensils, a blender, hand mixer, juicer, toaster, and more. This made preparing meals a delightful experience. The owner was extremely accommodating and went above and beyond by providing surfboards and wetsuits, which added an extra layer of enjoyment to our stay. The terrace is furnished and perfect for enjoying meals outdoors, enhancing the overall experience. We highly recommend this apartment for its prime location, the owner's kindness, and the ample amenities available. It truly made our stay in Porto da Cruz memorable.

It was my first trip to Madeira Island and the stay at Mateus House was a huge enabler for me to have one of the best times of my life. The place is a few steps away from the beach and the best restaurants in the region. Though the whole house is beautifully done, the highlight is the amazing terrace where my friends and I spent most of our time. Rodrigo our host is extremely friendly and helpful. Despite the late hour of our arrival, he was personally there to greet us. Throughout the trip, Rodrigo was constantly in touch, guiding us and suggesting options to use our time best. I thank Rodrigo for his warmth and care. I am looking forward to coming back again and experiencing his hospitality.

It's a wonderful place and the house itself. We love the upper terrace where you can relax after a day of hiking. There are several restaurants nearby in the town, where we had a delicious meal. We stayed for 4 nights and it was very comfortable house (3 adults). Close to the airport (15 minutes by car). We always found a place to park in the town, there is no charge. The host Rodrigo is very helpful and provided a lot of useful information. We travel a lot, so I can compare it with many things and I can confidently say that this place is definitely worth 10 or even more :). Thank you Rodrigo once again, when we come back to Madeira, it will definitely be at your place :)

Loved the rooftop and the location! Great amenities and we appreciated the special touches (the window screens and delicious treats). Great communication. Plenty of space and awesome to have a small powder room on main floor.

Nothing about the property itself - it was great! Parking was a little tricky during the day due to day trippers in town and there were dogs barking nearby at night. Just things to be aware of if sensitive. We would definitely stay again.

THE LOCATION IS PERFECT, 1 MIN WALK FROM THE BEACH AND 30 SECONDS FROM AN AMAZING RESTAURANT. The upper deck is just fabulous! :D

Such a spacious place, we had lovely breakfasts on the huge terrace, it is perfectly situated in Porto da Cruz and the perfect location to discover the north of the island 💝 Ricardo was a great host and we will for sure recommend this place. Everything we need for the activities and to face the weather on the islands (rain, sun) is available. Umbrella , beach umbrella, tracking poles, surf boards, even e-step for the children. Location of the house also good. Nice view, short walking distance to small supermarket, cafe en restaurant. The sounds of the wave become a lullaby at night and the birds chirping is our morning alarm.

Extra coat stand or rack will be better. The door to the terrace roof make a lot of noice. The shower crane is a bit of a puzzle and the water temperature is not consistent. But these are minor.

Great location to land in the heart of a beautiful village of Porto Da Cruz. Very friendly and caring host. Roof top was great for dining on with stunning views. Very clean and comfortable. Great air flow through the apartment and Rodrigo had just installed fly screens in every window which we were very grateful for. 2 extra heaters if you need. We loved our stay here.

The large terrace is very nice and the location of the accomondation is very good. The owner was friendly and helpful. Lots of different public parking options available.

Rodrigo was such a nice and friendly host, he gave us daily weather forecasts. He was always available via whatsapp to assist and help with any kind of support.

It was a bit unlucky that the time we stayed was unfortunately the time the rum destillery was on high production. The noise was a bit disturbing on the nice terrace starting from 8 AM in the mornings (except on Sunday).

Spacious and comfortable place at the best location in one of the most picturesque villages of Madeira. We particularly enjoyed the rooftop balcony perfect for late night stargazing.

We were there with our two daughters (total of 4 persons) an we were very happy with everything. The apartment is great and extremely well equipped. Our host (Rodrigo) even left us two e-scooters which our daughters loved. The rooftop terrace is fantastic. And we also loved the two portable heaters with animated chimney fire optics (awesome stuff, never seen that before...). The apartment location is terrific. It's in the center of a nice little village (Porto da Cruz). A great restauarant and a nice bakery are just around the corner. A little supermarket is very close.
