Reviewed Jun 7, 2026The view was amazing. The proximity to shopping and restaurants is a bonus. Sitting on the verandah with a glass of wine watching the waves roll in was priceless. Peet was a welcoming host and explained all.we.needed. We.loved our stay and can see ourselves returning. 1
Peet warned us about the monkeys. So we listened as they did come up to the balcony area so we did not leave any doors open. There are no curtains by the lounge area as this maximizes the view, however in the morning it was a bit hot sitting in the lounge with the direct sunlight.

Reviewed Apr 10, 2026The host kept us informed about every detail, on booking.com and via whatsapp a day or two in advance. Its a beautiful apartment. What you see is exactly what you get. The apartment building is safe. The host gave us such a good tour and is very friendly. Host really set us up well, gave us numbers for the local taktaks, restaurants, walking/running trails. Very helpful. Location is very close to restaurants, retailers and the mall. Over all great experience. The beach is beautiful and very safe. The appliances in the house are of good quality and durable. The bed is so comfortable and the bed linen is of great quality. Hotel standard. Great air conditioner. Clean, clear pool. Everyone is friendly.
The silly monkeys and the heat. Its really hot, humid, but both are out of the hosts control. Check out time is 10am. I think the host can be a little bit more flexible and allow check out to be between 10am to 12pm. I know guests would appreciate that.

The apartment got full DSTV, very comfortable, with everything you need. We were very impressed by the host, Peet explained everything, in detail at our arrival. Thank you. Reviewed Jul 20, 2025The view - absolutely stunning. The quite - no road noise, most times was just silence with the constant lapping of the waves against the shore. Also liked the location and parking. Stove, oven microwave all worked fantastic.
Nothing really... But if I have to. Pillows were a little soft. Water pressure in the shower was a little low. The aluminium table and chair set on the balcony felt too weak.

Reviewed Apr 2, 2025We absolutely loved the choice we made to stay here. It was everything we had hoped for, and more. Peet and Vi were very communicative about the check in time and procedure. Peet gave us a great familiarization tour upon checking in. The bed was huge and so very comfortable, great linens and towels. Coffee and tea facilities provided were great. Very nice to also have a beach bag, towels and chairs for the beach. The panoramic view and huge wrap around balcony was amazing. Convenience to local shops and restaurants was also great. We even enjoyed the monkey visits twice a day. Seems they come by early morning and early afternoon. Got accustomed quickly to not leaving doors open though. We also appreciated the safer, quiet, tranquil feeling of Umdloti as compared to Umhlanga for example. Fantastic stay! Probably the highlight of our trip to South Africa.
The A/C in the bedroom was great. However it did get quite hot in the main living room, kitchen, bathroom area without A/C. Especially with having to keep the doors closed because of the monkeys.

Reviewed Mar 27, 2025The ocean view was spectacular and the apartment was in walking distance of everything, which was lovely. However, Umdloti itself is not the tourist destination we remember it to be. You can tell the pandemic really affected the area and the community.

Only minor criticism would be that the lounge could get quite warm with no air conditioning and having to be careful with leaving the patio doors open because of the monkeys.

I blame myself for not doing proper planning but was not what we had in mind. The location of the resort was not what we expected, the self catering as well was a bit of a let down. I think it was overpriced, for the amount we paid I expected more.

The apartment was also very clean and I know this because I walk around barefoot and my feet were spotless! Lastly, the hosts are really sweet and accommodating. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!
