The location was beautiful, with an outlook over the valley and lots of animal life to watch. A great renovation, the beds were very comfortable, good shower and the cottage had a great kitchen with everything needed to cook during your stay. Smart TV, Wifi and some books and games meant rainy days weren't boring. Great communication from the host.
The house was cold on arrival and when we went to light the fire there were no fire lighters, news paper or pinecones and the wood was wet. Despite a 4 day booking, there was only enough firewood for 1 night. There was a heat pump but it struggled to heat the house and we'd booked a rural stay with a fire in the winter as a getaway. It was quickly resolved with a message to the owner who also showed us where to get firewood and to help ourselves, but adequate provisions would have made our stay perfect. It was also quite dusty - lots of cobwebs up the walls.

Maybe on our return the outside bath will be a bit bigger to fit two than that would hit it off as the best and most romantic place.

House had everything we needed for our short stay, our only regret was not having longer there. We do recommend getting all you need before you head there eg. from supermarket as there is nothing close by.

Lots of room, comfy beds and all you need for a countryside stay. Sadly we didn't get to use the outside bath due to a storm and a powercut but our host kept in touch with us to keep us updated, so all was good. Thank you for a great stay

The outdoor bath was a hit and we loved the rural setting. It also felt very personal with a book telling us about it's creation - lovely touch. Reviewed Oct 13, 2025We absolutely loved everything about our stay! The cottage was complete with everything we needed — clean, fresh-smelling, and very comfortable. My favorite part was the cozy bed and the soft pillows — we were able to rest so well and had such a good sleep.
Our daughter loved the toys and didn’t even want to go home! The morning view outside the cottage was absolutely perfect — the air was so fresh, and we really enjoyed the outdoor bathtub, especially our little one.
My husband had so much fun feeding the horses 😂 and my favorite moment was at night, seeing all the stars. It felt so surreal and magical.
The host was incredibly kind and provided everything we needed.
If I could give 1 million stars, I definitely would! This stay made my birthday so special, and we’ll surely come back again — next time with my mom and siblings! 😍😍😍😍

No unpleasant smells of animal poo. And no flies. Good value for money, though. Didn't get to meet the owner , but seemed friendly when we drove by.
The narrow, steep and precarious drive up a gravelly road to the cottage. Quite a distance from the town centre. The cottage was listed as having a hot tub, but it was a small bath tub outside that had to be heated by use of firewood. We didn't use it, cos it was too much trouble and it wasn't private. There were no cupboards in the rooms.

The owner was an absolutely wonderful person who looked after us and was so kind in offering help when my friend was sick. We loved everything about this stay and plan on coming back and staying for much longer.

After a packed holiday full of hiking, canyoning, and rafting in New Zealand, this farmstay was the perfect place to unwind on our road trip from Wellington to Auckland. It allowed us to experience New Zealand in a much more relaxed way, and we loved every bit of it!
The wood-burning hot tub was such a unique touch, blending perfectly with the cottage’s rustic yet modern charm—we had never seen anything like it! The stunning scenery made dining outside and sipping wine incredibly peaceful. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a delicious dinner, and the movie selection was a thoughtful bonus for a cozy evening in.

Reviewed Jan 13, 2025We absolutely loved staying at Renagour Cottage. The place was incredible, the photos dont do it justice. We were 2 couples with 3 children, three and under. Was a great family getaway, child friendly, and they loved seeing the sheep and horses in paddock next door. The hot tub was very popular. Everyone had a dip. Was awesome at night under the stars. Everything we needed was supplied, and Jonny was great to talk to if we had queries. Highly recommend if your looking for a getaway in the Manawatu.

Google maps takes you to a different spot further up the road, once you go past the cottage following the GM instructions it’s super hard to turn around and go back!

This beautifully restored cabin was absolutely gorgeous - fusing the aesthetic bones of the original building with gorgeous modern comforts. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals as if we were at home, the cabin was spacious, the beds and bedding super comfortable, the kids got such a kick out of the loft, and the outdoor tub was such a treat.
The property itself and the animals were just stunning, and we were even invited to feed the calf, along with the super friendly horses, which made for some seriously happy city kids. The hosts here are so friendly and hospitable - we loved our stay, and hated having to leave. Thank you so much for such a memorable experience x

Somewhere to hang wet clothes if you are using the washing machine would be good. A clothes horse that can be moved around would work well.

Johnny took us on a tour of the farm in his ute and explained some of his plans. The kids loved helping groom the horses, and feeding them apples. The cats and puppy were a big hit too. Great water pressure and temperature control in the shower.
