Villa Alba - Ahangama

Prachtig hotel, smaakvol ingericht op een even prachtige lokatie. De foto's zeggen gnoeg. Het is wat verwijderd van de kust waardoor je geneigd bent om ter plekke te eten maar dat is geen probleem wan de keuken is top. Het personeel is ook hier heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

I LOVED my stay here. So much so, I canceled my last place and stayed another 4 nights. Its beautiful, calm, peaceful and has everything I needed. The staff are helpful and friendly but not intrusive. The previous places I stayed had very intrusive staff/owners who talked non stop and ruined my stay. Also, Alba has food all day and night which is a huge plus, some places only do brekkie. Beautiful pool and grounds.

What I will say which is minor overall the beds are very hard, plus this place should one hundred percent be adult only. A family came with 2 children, jumping in and out of the pool and squealing. I felt the villa was way too small for this, it spoiled the peace and the other single/couples agreed.

أقمنا هنا 4 ليال بداية شهر أغسطس، كان الجو في المدينة مشمس أول ليلة والبقية غائم وممطر. حجزنا جناحين: جناح ملكي و جناح على الحديقة (ولا يوجد فروق كبيرة بينهما، الجناح الملكي يوجد سياج حول البلكونة وتدخله مباشرة من اللوبي بدون درج)، كلاهما نفس المساحة ونوع وحجم السرير و الإطلالة و الخدمات. - طاقم العمل محترفين متميزين وراقين في التعامل. - الإفطار لذيذ و مشبع. - المكان هادئ ونظيف ورائحته جميلة. - يوجد الكثير من الحيوانات الجميلة في المكان، سناجب وطواويس وطيور ممتعة بالنظر إليها وسماع صوتها والتفاعل معها أحيانا. - يوجد مكتبة صغيرة في اللوبي بها بعض الكتب و ألعاب الطاولة. - بالامكان التنسيق مع الموظف لحجز جلسات مساج أو يوقا بأسعار إضافية (التنسيق لتوفير اخصائية مساج أنثى أخذ وقت ولكن النتيجة كانت رائعة).

ليست عيوب ولكن تحسينات مقترحة: - يفضل تحسين خدمة الانترنت وقت الأمطار (إذا كان ممكنًا) لأن خدمة الواي فاي وكذلك الشريحة الخاصة لا تعمل كثيرًا من الوقت. - يفضل إيجاد بدائل للفطور الساخن (من المطبخ) لا تعتمد على البيض، على الرغم من وجود الفطور السريلانكي التقليدي اللذيذ و الذي به خيارات أخرى ولكنها للأسف حارة (شطة) جدًا ، مثلًا فلافل (أصبح طبق عالمي مشهور وهو خيار نباتي جيد) وغيره من الخيارات. * للتأكيد: الفطور لذيذ و شهي و يوجد زبادي و قرانولا و شوفان و كعكة الموز، لكن اقتراحي للمنتجع المميز لأني لو رغبت لاحقًا في القدوم ستكون نقطة الفطور سبب في عدم حجزي أيام أطول. === تنبيه لمن لديه كرسي متحرك أو مشاكل في الركبة، يوجد درج للصعود للمنتجع (قد تزيد على 40 درجة) فالأفضل التواصل معهم مسبقًا والتأكد إذا كانت هناك طريقة أخرى للوصول، لإن البقاء في هذا المنتجع سيكون ذكرى جميلة.

The facilities and staff were excellent. Pool was well maintained. The food was exceptional.

The location is a bit hard to reach especially at night. But still only 10 mins from the main Ahangama market

We could not recommend Villa Alba highly enough. If you're considering staying here, do it... you'll be missing out on something truly special if you don't! The Villa was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed. We were initially unsure about having an outdoor bathroom, but it ended up being one of our favorite features, it was clean, well-maintained, and added such a unique touch to the experience. What made our stay even more special was the staff. Every single member of the team was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. A huge thank you to all of the staff for making our stay so memorable. Without a doubt, Villa Alba was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. It felt like its own little jungle paradise, peaceful and private, while still close enough to the main strip.

Nothing at all, it was amazing!! The only thing I’d mention is that I saw in previous reviews that some tuk-tuks refused trips, which initially made me a bit worried. It is true, but it’s not a big deal at all. We ended up using Uber instead and were really happy with it, still very affordable, just with slightly longer wait times.

We really loved this villa – it’s peaceful, very clean, and beautifully designed, with only a few rooms which makes it feel extra private. Everything is surrounded by nature, which creates an amazing atmosphere. In the mornings, we were sometimes woken up by peacocks, but honestly it didn’t bother us at all – it actually added to the unique experience. Breakfast was good, and you can also order food during the day – everything we tried was delicious. Staying here was truly one of the best experiences. The room was spacious and bright. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back.

Design is absolutely phenomenal and the cleanliness is above excellent Staff is extremely nice also the owners and they have the most spacious rooms in ahangama , couldn’t be more satisfied! Value of price is 20/10 ! Very affordable for what they’re Couldn’t recommend it more

It’s a wonderful villa, the staff is heartwarming and the rooms are very spacious (since we worked from there this was important)! We loved our stay, the breakfast and would 100% recommend it if you want to enjoy calmness. A tuk tuk ride to the main strip in Ahangawa takes around 10-15min - we would definitely come back

Lack of menu options and standards compared to the hotel. The food is below average. The noises of the animals around was sometimes annoying, and the bed was too hard I left back a blouse and realized on the way to the airport, I contacted them instantly and they haven’t responded to me since then, not answering my calls or texts as I wanted my friend to pick it up. Unprofessional

It was a beautiful hotel, our room was gorgeous. Lovely pool to relax in. Very peaceful and serene. Would definitely recommend if you want a peaceful luxury.

The staff were all lovely however I think they could do with one or two more as often there wasn’t anyone on reception and it felt lacking slightly compared to everything else.

Beautiful hotel in the most peaceful area but only a 10 min tuk tuk ride into town. Our room was so lovely and really comfortable. The pool area is stunning. The staff were super friendly and attentive, and the breakfast and lunch were great!

Excellent place!

Located away from the madness of Ahangama. Standards were above average within Sri Lanka. Tastefully built and furnished in typical Sri Lankan style. The view is spectacular. The nature - monkies and birds. The open bathroom was the second I had experienced - this one being far more superior. Food was good.

Only ONE staff member that spoke relatively good English. Only saw the manager once during 3 day stay. Whilst the property appeared clean when you took a proper look it did require attention, appreciate the kitchen and seating areas are open to the environment but these then should be dusted and cleaned everyday. The lamps were lovely and of a Conran style but heck where the white lampshade filthy!! Although I did find throughout my month travel around Sri Lanka this is more cultural than anything. I was not impressed that they charged a 3% credit card fee which WAS NOT stated on Booking.com. I had to stand my ground as a female solo traveller to have this removed from my bill. Feel for the prices being charged, mini bar charges, food charges, hotel tuk tuk charges that they do not align with the extremely low cost of living in Sri Lanka. I know this is a business but just felt I was being ripped off.

Our stay at Villa Alba was great! We loved the spacious rooms with beautiful views of nature. Being in the middle of the rice fields made it the perfect place to find peace and relaxation. We especially loved the concept of the living room and open kitchen, which made the space feel very cozy and relaxed. The breakfast was also great, and the staff were very friendly. Thank you!

Absolutely wonderful stay – we would definitely come back! Unfortunately, we only stayed one night at Villa Alba, but it was truly amazing. The property is very stylish and beautifully located in the middle of rice fields, offering a unique and peaceful atmosphere. We could observe local wildlife, including lizards, which made the experience even more special. The pool is stunning, and the rooms are tastefully designed with a spacious bathroom and a very large, comfortable bed. The staff was extremely friendly, warm, and attentive. Highly recommended!

This place is wonderful. Hidden away among scenic paddy fields in the rural fringes of Ahangama, this was one of the best places we stayed in Sri Lanka! From the moment we arrived to the morning we left, 4 days later, we were in a small slice of heaven. This hotel has been so very thoughtfully designed and equipped - and that shows up everywhere you look. From the oil incense burners infusing your room when you arrive, to the nuanced decor, the so-inviting pool, the views from the rooms - feeling intimately exclusive to you and so stunning - and the wonderfully prepared, individualised breakfasts. The staff were so polite, friendly and helpful (like so many people in this country!). This place is a world apart, and yet pure Sri Lankan excellence. I did not want to leave. Ever.

Our stay at Villa Alba was pretty great. We interacted with only one staff member throughout our stay and he was very nice and helpful. The Sri Lankan breakfast was yummy and the Villa itself was nice and spacious and very well maintained. It was overlooking a beautiful paddy field and we’d always manage to catch a glimpse of a peacock or two in the mornings.

The villa was a little bit of a drive away (10-15 minutes) from the beach, so if you don’t have your own private transport it can get a little expensive as the hotel transport (tuk) costs around LKR 1,500.00 for that ride (one way). Alternatively, you can book a PickMe but we found these were usually rare and took a long time to get to the property. The drive to the property was beautiful, but some of the roads were very narrow, so do be aware of that. Finally, when we were checking out, we were given the option to pay by card or make a bank transfer - but the card payment came with an additional 3% surcharge which is no longer legal in Sri Lanka (we informed the staff of this, and we understand this may have happened due to a lack of communication from the management to the staff).

We would ideally gatekeep this property because we want to come back again in some years with the hope of getting same amazing experience again! But this property deserves it flowers, amazing vibes, very thoughtfully built with the most intricate details in mind. We would love to come back again at some point and hopefully it stays the way it is :) Thank you.

We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Alba. It felt like paradise when we arrived after a long journey. Our room was beautiful – clean, comfortable, with a stunning view and lots of great amenities. We visited in the off-season, so we often had the pool to ourselves for a lot of the time as well as the reception area during breakfast and dinner, which made everything feel even more relaxing and exclusive. The food was brilliant too – so many options, really high quality, and clearly made with care. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Villa Alba also has scooters available to rent, which was super convenient for exploring the nearby local areas. I honestly couldn’t recommend if you're looking for affordable luxury, peacefulness and total relaxation.

This is one of the best places we have ever been in all south Asia. Everything, from the surrounding marvellous garden, to the interior design and the architecture of the structure perfectly balanced with the wildness of the nature, to our room with the view on the rice fields and the plein-air bathroom... This place is a dream and the perfect location to relax, enjoy nature and be healed by the chorus of birds. Breakfast and dinner were fresh and delicious. The staff is always so nice and helpful, honestly they provide the best service possible. I would also like to mention the spa service: I had the best massage of my life with a true therapist who knows the massage techniques... I have never felt so good after a massage in my life! The hotel is just 5-10 min tuktuk ride from the main village and beaches. We are already planning our next trip here.

We absolutely loved our stay at this villa Alba in Sri Lanka! The location was perfect — just a short ride from the beach, yet tucked away from the noise, offering a peaceful and serene atmosphere. We often spotted peacocks, storks, and other adorable little animals roaming nearby, and the sound of birdsong added to the magical ambiance. The food was exceptional — prepared by a local chef using fresh ingredients, many of which came straight from the surrounding plantation. One dish that stood out was the jackfruit cutlets — absolutely delicious! The staff was incredibly polite and helpful, always making us feel welcome and cared for. We also enjoyed two wonderful massages during our stay — a truly relaxing experience. Our room was beautifully designed, with good air conditioning and a bathroom we especially loved, featuring panoramic glass that looked out into nature. There was a true sense of privacy and comfort — even though the villa was fully booked, it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The rooms are well-zoned, and we didn’t hear a sound from the neighbors. All in all, this place left us with such warm memories. We’ll definitely recommend it to our friends — and hopefully come back again ourselves someday.

This is a beautiful small property set a few kilometres inland from the bustle of Ahangama amongst the rice paddy fields. The rooms are amazing and at times you feel as though you are there on your own. The staff were also fantastic. There are no shops nearby so if you need anything you will need to arrange a TukTuk (staff can order one for you) to go into town. This didn't bother us as we were looking for a bit of luxury, peace and quiet at the end of our trip. The meals on site were great as well. Would highly recommend.

What an amazing hidden gem and perfect place to spend our honeymoon. We had the most wonderful 5 nights at Villa Alba. Our room was stunning and had the most beautiful views. The staff were extremely attentive and accommodating and made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived and throughout our whole stay - they really couldn’t do enough for us and were always so happy and polite. The menu and food at the hotel was outstanding and always so beautifully presented. We particularly loved the pool area, comfortable sun loungers and views over the beautiful gardens and rice fields. The hotel very kindly organised a safari for us at Udawalawe National Park - this is a must when staying in Sri Lanka. A day we will remember forever. Location is peaceful and only 10 minutes from the beach. Very easy to get to by tuk tuk which the hotel very kindly organised for us during our stay. We really can’t fault anything about this hotel. We really hope to return in the future will be recommending it to all of our friends. If you are considering booking Villa Alba please don’t think twice, you won’t regret it! There is a lot of room for improvement in the meals in terms of taste, size and/or size or price. Staff told us that they would soon change the Menu.

Villa Alba is a beautiful and peaceful villa with a stunning surrounding, tucked away from the busy main road of Ahangama. The rooms were spacious and clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Couldn’t have been happier with this hotel choice and would 100% recommend it.

An utterly beautiful small villa which is almost certainly now on my list as favourite places to stay because it’s so comfortable and the decor and beautifully manicured gardens add to the whole experience. We loved the pool beds and the breakfasts and the room was stunning and had all the amenities you require. We didn’t want to leave and wish we had eaten there one evening as we were told the food was good too.

The bed linen could be better fitted to the bed and the location is maybe too remote for some but we had a car so for us it was no problem and appreciated the peace and quiet.

The best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. A perfectly peaceful property with fabulous facilities, amazing rooms, delicious breakfast and wonderful staff. We wish we could have stayed forever or at least a little longer! Surrounded with beautiful greenery to wake up to each morning, a lovely well kept pool and not too far from various beaches.

There is nothing not to like, Villa Alba was super. It was a little off the beaten track and I believe hard to get a taxi from but if you have your own car/TukTuk like we did then there’s no problem at all.

Very modern and well equipped. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff are very accommodating and hospitable, Kalana takes care of all your requests incredibly diligently and makes the experience a memorable one.

Needs ac in the communal area and better facilities for coffee and water. Fridges in the rooms would be very helpful. F&B availability was somewhat limited
