The place is really beautiful. We loved the garden with the gorgeous pool. The rooms are stylish and immaculately clean. Janaka is so kind, welcoming and helpful. All the staff are fantastic, thoughtful and always smiling. The breakfast is delicious, with fresh fruits, eggs and good coffee. Fresh coconut water is also offered throughout the day.

Wir hatten einen traumhaften Aufenthalt in dieser schönen Ruheoase! Die Unterkunft zeichnet sich durch einen gepflegten, sehr großen Pool und eine tolle Gartenanlage aus. Das Zimmer war geräumig und sehr sauber. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig; man konnte von allem nachbestellen. Ein besonderes Highlight war das Personal: Janaka und die drei Frauen waren sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und stets bemüht, einem den bestmöglichen Aufenthalt zu gewährleisten! Die Unterkunft liegt außerhalb des Ortes. Der nächste Strand ist fussläufig in ca. 30 Minuten zu erreichen. Nach Ahangama dauert es mit dem Tuk Tuk ca. 15 Minuten.

Wir waren jetzt nach zwei Jahren wieder in diesem wunderschönen Hotel auf Sri Lanka und es ist einfach immer noch ein absoluter Traum! Schon bei der Ankunft fühlt man sich sofort willkommen und entspannt. Die Atmosphäre ist unglaublich ruhig und perfekt, um wirklich abzuschalten. Genau das, was wir gesucht haben! Alles ist liebevoll gestaltet, sauber und mit viel Stil eingerichtet. Ein ganz besonderes Lob geht an den Hotelmanager Janaka – so herzlich und aufmerksam! Er kümmert sich wirklich um alles und sorgt dafür, dass man sich rundum wohlfühlt. Man merkt sofort, dass hier mit Leidenschaft gearbeitet wird. Die Lage ist ebenfalls super – man kommt innerhalb 5 Minuten mit dem Roller überall gut hin, egal ob Strand oder Restaurants. Für uns steht fest: Wir kommen definitiv wieder! Absolute Empfehlung für alle, die Ruhe, Qualität und echte Gastfreundschaft suchen.

Wat een heerlijke plek. Er valt automatisch een rust over je zodra de locatie binnenkomt. Het ontbijt en bed is ook erg goed. Janaka is ook een geweldige host. We hadden tot half 6 geen stroom. Hierdoor kregen we een gratis massage. Nadat we al niet meer in het hotel verbleven had hij alsnog een taxi voor ons geregeld. Echt top!

So grateful we chose this property for our first stay in Sri Lanka. Janaka went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time here. The stay is beautiful, accessibility is also good. People here are very sweet. Go for it blindly

Alles war perfekt! Unser Zimmer war sehr geräumig und noch schöner als auf den Fotos. Es ist absolut ruhig und inmitten wunderschöner Natur. Der Hotelmanager Janaka war jederzeit via WhatsApp erreichbar und hat uns jeden Wunsch erfüllt. Ich esse glutenfrei – beim Frühstück wurde immer wunderbar darauf eingegangen, und ich habe jeden Tag eine neue, tolle Kreation bekommen. Mein Tipp: Unbedingt eine Massage im Hotel buchen – eine der besten, die wir jemals hatten!

Nous avons passé 4 jours absolument merveilleux à Uyana. Tout était parfait : le lieu est magnifique, très propre, en pleine nature, avec plein d’animaux autour de nous, ce qui rend le séjour encore plus magique. L’établissement est très intimiste avec peu de chambres, ce qui apporte beaucoup de calme et de discrétion, on s’y sent vraiment privilégiés. La piscine est tout simplement incroyable, un vrai petit paradis. Le personnel est d’une gentillesse exceptionnelle, toujours aux petits soins, attentif et souriant. Et mention spéciale pour Janaka, un hôte incroyablement gentil, que nous n’oublierons jamais. Nous n’oublierons pas notre passage chez Uyana et nous reviendrons, c’est sûr ! Хочу начать свой отзыв со слов благодарности управляющему Джанака и девочкам! Спасибо вам за ту атмосферу, которой вы окутываете всех своих гостей. Нам понравилось все. От момента как мы заехали на территорию отеля создается ощущение уединенности и тишины. Тут нет шума , только звуки природы. Ощущение, что вы просто приехали в гости. Тут нет стойки администратора, нет ни какого официоза, но если вам что то понадобится, ребята всегда где то рядом. Очень просторные номера, в которых есть все необходимое, огромный длинный бассейн, в свободном доступе коврики для йоги или просто тренировки. Очень вкусные и плотные завтраки! В течение дня чай, кофе или кокосовую воду всегда можно попросить без проблем. Нет ресторана, но он тут и не нужен. Если вы хотите поужинать в отеле, можно об этом сообщить заранее и вам все организуют. Если вам хочется расслабляющего массажа или позаниматься йогой с тренером, стоит только сказать, и вам все организуют. Так же на территории вы можете встретить много животных и птиц, таких как мартышки, вараны, ящерицы, бурундуки, павлины и много разных птиц, так что утро под пение птиц вам обеспеченно.

We could not recommend Uyana more! The hotel, room and outdoor area with pool and garden is beautifully designed, and feels like a modern oasis in Ahangama. The breakfast is delicious, with fresh fruits, eggs and good coffee. Cold water and fresh coconut water is also offered throughout the day. However, the best part of our stay was the communication, hospitality and attentiveness of Janaka and the team. They offered us to stay past check out, organised transport and tuk tuks, and made sure our stay was amazing. Thank you so much! We would love to come back again!

Die Lage ist absolut ruhig. Das Hotel liegt mitten in einem gepflegten Garten. Rundum stehen hohe Bäume, so dass man denkt, man sei im Wald. Zum Tal hin ist eine freie Fläche, die zusammen mit den Bäumen zum Beobachten von Vögeln einlädt. Wer ein Fernglas hat, sollte es unbedingt einpacken Die Zimmer sind groß und hell und sehr schön eingerichtet. Das Bad ist ein Traum. Leider gab es keine Steckdose am Bett zum Aufladen des Handys. Und die riesige Matratze war nicht aus einem Stück. Diese beiden Kleinigkeiten waren aber auch das Einzige, was man verbessern könnte. Ansonsten war alles nicht nur super sondern optimal.

Ein wunderschöner, kleiner und ruhiger Rückzugsort. Wir verbrachten dort 4 Nächte und fühlten uns rundum wohl. Wir mieteten uns einen Scooter, um uns ein bisschen in der Gegend zu bewegen. Die Zimmer sind wirklich ein Traum, geräumig und schön eingerichtet. Es gibt wirklich gar nichts, was man beanstanden kann. Die Mitarbeiter haben sogar Sachen für uns gewaschen.

My stay was absolutely delightful. The room was spacious and beautifully designed, and the whole place felt peaceful and lovingly created. The garden is a calm little oasis in the middle of the jungle. From the very first moment, it was incredibly easy to switch off and feel completely taken care of. A big part of that feeling came from Janaka, the perfect host, who does everything to make every guest feel welcome. Thank you so much! The whole team is kind and attentive, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. I left with a full heart and would return any time.

Warm welkom van Janaka en zijn Staff, prachtige locatie, de kamer en badkamer zijn ruim en heel verzorgd met unieke inrichting, het zwembad is heel aangenaam en je zwemt in een natuurlijke omgeving, mooie open leefruimte waar je kan vertoeven en genieten van de mooie natuur,alles klopt aan dit verblijf, je komt er tot rust na een dagje strand. Je kan met een motorbike of met tuktuk veilig de weg naar het strand nemen en de restaurants nemen. Wij hebben genoten en komen heel graag terug, dankjewel 🙏

Ein einzigartiges Erlebnis nach 15-stündiger Anreise. Uns wurde vom Personal noch ein köstliches Abendessen gezaubert. Jeder Mitarbeiter war absolut zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Ganz besonders hervorzuheben ist Janaka, der mit seiner hilfsbereiten und zauberhaften Art diesen Aufenthalt zu etwas ganz Besonderem gemacht hat. Wer ein paar Tage in der Abgedchiedenheit des Dschungels und superfreundlichem Personal sucht, ist in diesem 4-Zimmer Kleinod genau richtig.

Paradies auf Erden. Es mangelt an nichts. Herzliches Personal. Man wird umsorgt. Und hat trotzdem die Ruhe, die man braucht. Das Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet. Die Natur ist zauberhaft. Die Zimmer sind extrem geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Und ganz besonders hervorzuheben ist die Freundlichkeit des Hotelmanagers. Wir haben uns so unglaublich wohl gefühlt. Ein unvergesslicher Aufenthalt!

Schön gelegen und bemühtes Personal.

Die Unterkunft ist nett eingerichtet aber definitiv kein 5-Sterne Standard. Es sind einige kleine Dinge, die leider nicht so ganz gepasst haben. Beispielsweise gab es für die Sonnenliegen keine Auflagen bzw. nur eine nachdem ich gefragt habe, die jedoch völlig dreckig war. Die Möbel, die draußen stehen, sahen schon etwas mitgenommen aus. Die Soundbox im Zimmer, ist generell eine gute Idee, aber sie sollte auch geladen sein. Im Badezimmer ist es extrem heiß, da keine Klimaanlage vorhanden. Das Essensangebot ist für sri-lankische Verhältnisse durchschnittlich.

Das UYANA war mit Abstand unsere beste Unterkunft in Sri Lanka. Wer nach Ruhe und Erholung sucht wird hier fündig. Die Unterkunft liegt im Dschungel, man hat Blick auf ein Reisfeld, kann sehr viele Tierarten beobachten, es ist alles sehr Clean und das Team um Janaka ist so unglaublich herzlich und kümmert sich um alles. Eine hochverdiente 10 von 10! Wir würden definitiv wieder kommen.

Большое спасибо хозяину виллы Энди за бесплатное повышение уровня номера. Большой, светлый и комфортабельный люкс, все продумано до мелочей. В отеле всего 4 номера с выходом к бассейну, Бассейн заслуживает отдельной похвалы, 25 метров с восхитительным видом. Спасибо девочкам из обслуживающего персонала за вкусные завтраки и чистоту в номере. И конечно огромное спасибо менеджеру Janaka за хорошую организацию нашего пребывания, внимательный, вежливый и готовый помочь в решении любых вопросов. Вилла находится примерно в 1,5 км от основной дороги и побережья. Тишина и покой, все , что надо для безмятежного отдыха. Брали на прокат скутер 🛵, до пляжа Унаватуны 11-12 км, до ближайшего ресторана не более 2-х км. Отлично провели время. Спасибо большое 🙏

Uyana Hotel in Ahangama was a peaceful escape from the Ahangama city. The peaceful setting, surrounded by nature, made for a truly relaxing stay. The staff are fantastic! The breakfast is fresh fruit followed by 1 other dish (which changes daily), tea/ coffee/ water. The pool is great for laps if you feel like exercising. It's a small hotel with just 4 rooms so it feels very exclusive. It's quiet, they can arrange a masseuse to come to the hotel, they can arrange bike hire, airport shuttle etc, nothing is too much trouble.

The birds can be loud in the mornings lol, but overall I have nothing to complain about.

Uyana is an amazing hotel, it exceeded our expectations. The location is close but secluded at the same time. The pool was wonderful and the room was so spacious and super comfortable with the perfect view. Everyone on the team was so kind but I must say Janaka is the best hotel manager anyone could find. Everything was perfect.

To be concise, Uyana is the best place we have stayed in Sri Lanka. A clean, modern, spacious property set in beautiful gardens with a pool far-larger than typically seen for this type of place (<5 rooms). The room was enormous, stylish, and spotlessly clean. The manager, Janaka, was always on hand to help with arranging activities, transport, or anything else that we needed. The breakfast was delicious and complimentary coffee and coconut water were available throughout the day. Even after only two nights we felt thoroughly relaxed and well cared-for. The Ocean, and a number of high-quality restaurants are a short drive away in Ahangama. The distance from the town gives the benefit of tranquility.

It was one of the most peaceful surroundings, kindest staff and even the food was brilliant. Rooms were huge, the pool is massive but the garden area was the best part of the property. 10/10 anyday.

Beautiful spacious room next to a 25m pool in a quiet rural location close to the coast. Janaka the manager was especially helpful. All round an excellent stay. Thoroughly recommended.

Amazing place. A 10 is very difficult in my opinion as there’s usually something not quite right. But UYANA deserves a 10. Everything here made our stay perfect. Huge rooms, very clean minimalist style, beautifully landscaped gardens. Rice field views, very quiet. 20m swimming pool. Very friendly staff and great breakfast. We have rebooked to stay at the end of our trip.

Had such an amazing couple of days. Was booked into the suite with balcony which looked onto paddy fields. Loved hearing the birds and at dusk, sitting outside my room, would watch the huge fruit bats fly over, and it was also nearly a full moon so very beautiful evenings. Room was to a high spec, all very elegant and tasteful (in my opinion!). This was full on luxe experience and Janaka, who is the resident manager, was great with everything. He and his staff were amazing and made the stay very memorable. He sorted out my tuk tuk to get to my next hotel, and on my first evening, very kindly drove me to where he had booked dinner for me (he even offered to pick me up, but I sorted that out myself). The second evening, I ate at the hotel and it was one of the best meals I had on my trip. Wonderful. generous breakfast. Fresh and made to order each morning. Felt every need was catered for, Janaka and his staff very attentive but in discreet way. Lovely, restful way to start each day. The swimming pool was the main reason for why I chose UYANA as I love swimming and the 25m pool did not disappoint. Will be back and for a longer stay. Big thanks to Janeka for making it such a wonderful stay.

Some guests were sitting outside my room which I felt was bit odd given that there were loungers outside each of our 4 rooms, and felt bit intrusive. I raised it Janaka and he swiftly sorted it out, again very discreetly

What an amazing and beautiful setting deep in the forest - a real bathing in nature! Manager was a gem who could not do enough for you and the staff were an example of this - really special time spent there.

This was our second stay at Uyana and it exceeded the first visit. We absolutely loved staying here. It's an absolute gem away from the main town of Ahangama on the edge of a rice paddy. Peaceful and only four rooms, the staff here are so accommodating and kind. Will definitely return again.

The most beautiful room I have stayed in, so clean and bright and spacious. Very peaceful round the pool, only 4 rooms so very private. Lovely breakfast choices and beautifully presented. The star of the show is Janaka, he couldn’t have been more accomodating. Fulfilling every request like magic, and even surprising me with a cake on my birthday.

A little far from the Main Street, we had a scooter but it would not have been walkable. The distance from the restaurants etc is worth it for the serenity

Janaka and his staff let us feel really at home. We had the suite with a private balcony. The room was spacious and beautiful decorated. The food was delicious and because there are only 4 rooms, you must order the food in advance. We went to a beautiful Full Moon ceremony at a temple nearby. This was a very special experience.

Uyana is exceptional. Janaka the manager is also exceptional. The landscaping is delightful. The premises are very very clean and Uyana is held to a high standard. Their is architectural merit in this retreat. As other reviewers have suggested however, it is Janaka that runs this operation beautifully. A very quietly spoken, discreet manager who appears to have gained a lot of experience along the way. He reminds me of the very best of staff in hotels in major cities. He makes things happen quietly. It appears as if everything is done with complete ease. I left my phone in a taxi after vacating Uyana. Janaka organised its retrieval. I was one of a few guests. Another guest during our stay lost her pack/wallet on a road locally. Janaka with all the quiet ease of a true professional retrieved everything very quietly. No fuss is made. If every visitor has a request outside of the norm it takes an experienced professional to keep everything running smoothly whilst keeping all the guests happy. Uyana Retreat has a real asset in their manager and he also appears to have pride in the very establishment that he is the face of. 5 stars.

The WiFi connection wasn’t the best.

UYANA surpassed all our expectations with the hotel, garden, pool, and most importantly, the staff. Janaka did everything possible to make our stay as pleasant and peaceful as it could be. The breakfast was also exceptional. We were supposed to stay for 7 days but ended up 10 days. I would definitely come back and stay again if given the opportunity.

A place you want to live in. UYANA is something very special. It’s about absolute comfort, aesthetic, romantic, wild and native at the same time. Stylish territory, modern and clean rooms, beautiful garden, absolutely adorable team and the chief professional Janaka to take care of every small thing. I saw a lot of different place and hotels and this is absolute unique experience I can recommend to every nice and friendly people.

Everything is beyond expectations. This is very true about this place. The only wish could be a small fridge in a room. But you can use a big fridge from the kitchen.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The hotel is clean, quiet environment and spectacular nature around. The hotel staff is the best I have met. Always with a smile and help from the heart. We had an amazing experience, wholeheartedly recommended.

The design and soul of this hotel are a direct representation of the owner (Andi). There are certain places you visit and there's a 'feeling', and this place has an abundance. The location, the calmness, everything just makes sense in the design. Every detail has been considered and designed for. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed and decorated. Janaka (manager) ensured every request was taken care of and that the whole team was always so lovely when cleaning our room or having breakfast. We can't recommend Uyana highly enough.

Well there was some noise from the construction , but ist there always… when you close the room door you don’t hear anything anymore - great isolation.

Andi (the owner) and Janaka (the manager) are the most welcoming and genuinely lovely people. I felt so looked after from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. Although I was staying there as a solo traveller, at no point did I feel remotely lonely due to the staff at the hotel and the other guests being so wonderful. Uyana itself is a beautifully designed and relaxing hotel, set in the most lovely gardens with a fabulous pool. The room I stayed in was huge, with everything I could've needed. Amazingly thought out, modern and clean. The bathroom and shower were highlights. The location is perfect, away from the busyness of the beach, but close enough to allow for a short drive to get there. Janaka was so helpful in assisting travel and transfers, couldn't do enough to help and always did it with a smile. What a wonderful manager! Would recommended this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing hotel stay in a beautiful Sri Lankan location surrounded by trees and plants!

Everything and anything!!! This place is a paradise on earth… truly magical! It’s 3 min by Tuk Tuk, or motorbike from the beach, which is just what you need to be away from the main road. It’s completely immerse in nature and next to the lake… endless numbers of animals and birds surround the property. You have a natural sounds playlist 24h a day!! The owner Andy, and the manager Yanaka + the cooks are the nicest and kindest persons, and they truly do everything to make your stay perfect!! The rooms are incredibly well decorated, huge and super clean with any type of facility!! The garden, overlooking rice fields, is a park itself. You can also get a massage booked or do yoga and breathwork under one of the many trees!! A true place for the soul 🌴🍉🥥 will be back soon

We had an amazing stay in Uyana. The interior of the room was perfect for our needs, and I really enjoyed the swimming pool. The area was wonderfully quiet, which added to the overall experience. But what truly stood out was the incredible staff. Andy welcomed us with exceptional hospitality, and Janaka, the manager, along with his team, went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. Janaka is a true example of Sri Lankan hospitality at its finest.

We enjoyed nature surround the hotel and in the garden. Very peaceful and quiet atmosphere. There are only four rooms, so not a lot of guests and private feel. The pool is clean and big (25 m and 1,5 m deep). Breakfast were very tasty - with local fruits, coconut water, coffee/tea and whatever is asked for breakfast. On the day we went to safari, we even had early breakfast. Manager Janaka took delicate care of everything and made our stay even more pleasant.

Manager helped with scooter rental and the scooter we got was in poor condition - at first one mirror was falling and the speedometer didn't work. After fixing it - scooter was without lights. Still had to pay full price.

Everything was absolutely perfect. Staff: Janaka was very welcoming and helpful. Once you arrive you are gifted with a welcome drink and some fruits. They have offered us a ride from and to the train station. Laundry service was provided free of charge. Every day our room was super clean and organized after room service. Location: The hotel is close to ahangama, nevertheless it is located in the middle of the jungle far enough from the busy area. You can enjoy the hotel to relax and feel the nature. Facilities: The room was clean, modern and very big. The bed was very comfortable. You can find all the amenities you will need, including for example: yoga mattresses, gym weights, food in the fridge, etc.
