Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Mark was a very gracious and kind host. The location was great and it was definitely not your typical bed and breakfast. We loved the seclusion of the property and loved the dogs! One of the nights we stayed, Mark invited us to gather around the large dining table with the other guests to have conversation and meet people from literally all over the world. It was a great experience!
The property is a work in progress and wasn't what we expected. However, with that being said, we loved it and really enjoyed our stay.
Nina and I felt so welcomed. Location is perfect. Mark is the greatest. Mark’s dogs are the best
I cannot think of anything
Beautiful location.
Nothing to mention.
It was a lovely cottage set in a beautiful setting. Lots of greenery plus a quaint old chapel. It wasn’t too far from the town centre and close to a supermarket and petrol station. Owner was very friendly and helpful.
Very little. It was what we expected from a cottage.
The homeliness of the place. Mark is a superb host and his two wonderful dogs were so gentle it was a credit to him. The sense of history about the place is well respected - I wish him all the best with ongoing projects.
A run with the hoover hither and thither wouldn't go astray, particularly when pets are about.
The setup
All good
Mark was a lovely, attentive, and humorous host. He helped us get situated quickly. The grounds are beautiful. Our bathroom was marvelously updated. The home has a delightful and historic charm.
Creepy feel, left in the night, didn’t feel safe here.
We'll be delighted to come back!
This is one of the most beautiful places to stay. It also has one of the best hosts we’ve ever encountered. This property is a unique home-share experience that we’ll look back on fondly for years to come. We’ll be back!!!
Everything. Especially the setting, its charm, and our hosts.
The quirkiness of the house and such character..Mark and Zoe so welcoming .. So enjoyed the peace and quiet and river.. A lovely evening in the sitting room with a nice bottle of wine and cheese enjoying the view ... A great night's sleep...
Nothing !!!!!
Prachtig huis in groene omgeving.
Mark was very hospitable, friendly and helpful. Accommodated our early arrival despite the inconvenience. The dogs were lovely and completed the amazing setting. Would recommend them to anyone.
Lack of door locks
Beautiful historic house and surrounding gardens
The history of the house. The beautiful gardens and rooms
Mark was a gentleman. Lovely location so peaceful yet so close to the city . Would highly recommend the place .
What breakfast lol we made our own there was tea and coffee available. The tea was amazing forgot to ask what t bags u use ? Loved the donkeys and dogs.the best was use of your boat travelling down the shannon. Mark was very bubbly and informative re the history of the house and area .he suggested a great Chinese to with we ate in the elaborate dinning room -
No it can't be faulted we would deffo recommend to friends and family and we couldn't believe how cheap it was
The location was perfect for our stay. The room, shower, kitchen area was all in good order and functional. The donkey next door was so sweet and Mark the host was a joy to talk to that evening and in the morning.
We werent exactly sure that we were in the right place when we drove up. Maybe a clearer welcome sign would have been helpful.
Everything
This property is very quirky, right on the river and very peaceful. The owner mark is very friendly and helpful and I enjoyed chatting with him throughout the stay. They have very friendly dogs and being a dog lover was lovely. We we're even upgraded on our room on the last night which the owner didn't need to do but it was a very nice touch.
I was surprised there weren't any keys to lock your bedroom door some people might not like that.
The relaxed atmosphere
Nothing
Really lovely place...hosts were warm and friendly.
Beautiful settings.host was ever so helpful will definitely stay again
No lock on bedroom door but the home is very secure.
Amazing place with a beautiful house and garden. Has everything you might need during your stay (including a kitchen and cooking equipment) and has a wonderful garden right at the banks of the Shannon river. The host is the kindest person you'll meet and also gives great recommendations for activities and places to visit.
A beautiful unique stay in a historic house with great grounds. Good location to drive to some interesting spots and Mark was great about giving suggestions about where to go. The dogs on the property are an added bonus for animal lovers.
Everything was great. Its made very clear the place is being renovated which I could see some people not being fond of but I thought it was fantastic to be able to stay in such a place
Mark is a great host and accommodating. We enjoyed a warm welcome, prompt response to our questions, and tea at the main house with Mark. We walked the gardens and explored the grounds. The updates to the river cottage are excellent.
A bit damp and that is being addressed.
Toffe, vriendelijke man!
We loved the lovely house, and gardens. A little overgrown tho. Mark was a great host and we'll be back. So quiet and relaxing, felt so good after visit.
This home was such a hidden gem! We rather last minute booked it for 3 nights and boy are we glad we did. The beauty of this home and garden is amazing and yet it is still so close to the city center of Limerick. Though you can easily grab an Uber we opted to walk just as it was a nice area to do so. As a guest you get full use of a kitchen, living room, gardens etc. We often brought back a bottle of wine and enjoyed sitting in the garden with the dogs and watching the swans on the Shannon. We had such peaceful nights' sleep (it was so quiet) which was impressive being so close to the city. Marc, owner, was so so friendly and clearly cares so much about the property, the experience, and the comfort of the guests. We absolutely loved the pet donkeys and dogs. A real treat this spot, can't wait to stay again!
A step back in time with small details from times past kept, but modern things added. Amazing place to stay.
De enthourage, de behulpzame en vriendelojke host
De afstand naar binnenstad Limerick
Mark is the best host we ever had. He is a very easy-going and kind person, always checking whether we were comfortable. The mansion is magnificent, this the most Irish experience we could have. Do save one day for exploring its gardens and relaxing on the backyard. Additionally, you’ll have the best fluffy neighbours with tails - amazing dogs and donkeys. Do not forget to prepare some snacks for them.

An amazing location, steeped in history. The house is beautiful, loved the communal areas, the art, the views. We were made to feel very welcome and well looked after
Nothing
Mark was a brilliant host, really friendly and happy to help with any requests or questions we had. The rooms were clean, comfortable beds and we really enjoyed our stay in this picturesque area
This is a beautiful B and B with riverfront property, a large garden and medieval church in the grounds. Mark is an excellent host and makes everyone feel as if they're part of the family.
There was nothing I didn't like.
Great location, beautiful surroundings, atmospheric building
This is a house that retains the atmosphere of antiquity. The location was perfect for me. This is not a typical B&B with sterile rooms, which, by the way, the host warns about in the letter after booking. If everything were perfect, the price would be higher. The linen and the bathroom and kitchen were clean. Mark, the host, was very hospitable and ready to help. So, if you are positive and like adventures - go ahead.
I missed a microwave in the kitchen. I would also draw the host's attention to the fact that the cleaning lady does not clean under the beds very thoroughly and throws out the trash from the bin in the bathroom
Everything I liked, it was the most amazing place for weekend
Obiekt położony w uroczej okolicy, przepiękne wnętrza domu i ogród. Właściciel bardzo serdeczny i pomocny, dba o swoich gości. W pokoju zapewnione wszystko co niezbędne, kuchnia dobrze wyposażona, w obiekcie panuje przyjemna, swobodna atmosfera.
Nie mam żadnych uwag
Mark and Fiona were amazing hosts. The dogs were an added perk! Would definitely do it again and I with Mark all the best moving forward.
Nothing.
It was probably the best accommodation we ever stayed at. Mark was incredibly kind, he went above and beyond to ensure our every need was met and the house itself is just something else. Stunning interior and the view on the lake was fabulous.
Private gardens and green space.
Friendliness of the host and property was exceptional.
Beautiful property that provides lovely views. The owner Mark was exceptional in welcoming us and ensuring our stay was as comfortable as possible.
History of this house
Mark rocks, the property is beautiful (rocks).
Amazing place. Mark and family were great.
A bit remote but Mark et al were great about offering rides when they had the availability. And it was a relatively short taxi ride from city center.
Very comfortable accommodation. The host was exceptionally friendly, offering food and even a free extra room for our group even though we hadn't booked one.
The most loveliest home that is comfortable with an incredible history. The family that owns it has been there for generations and Mark was very forthcoming with sharing the history and answering all my questions about the area, with some really great suggestions on where to eat and visit. The grounds are so gorgeous too set right on the river Shannon, with its own dilapidated church, weir and castle! You do need to be mobile with a car to stay here though and get anywhere, which I did. Even so, Mark was happy to offer to pick me up from town. He even offered me a glass of red wine on my only nights stay! I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone travelling around Ireland and who wants a quaint place to stay. Mark, thank you.
Nothing!
The owner was so welcoming and helpful. My son and I absolutely loved this place. It is absolutely beautiful the grounds are just amazing.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at such a beautiful place and are host was wonderful. We were made to feel extremely welcome and had the lovely opportunity of meeting the family who were also great (including the dogs). The whole atmosphere was friendly and inviting, the view from our bedroom window of Shannon River was fabulous. It was so peaceful and relaxing there, with a really comfortable bed and a totally absorbing ambience of sheer enjoyment. With Mark's knowledge of the surroundings his suggestions of places to visit were perfect. We had an incredible, and unforgettable time and wouldn't hesitate on recommending this as a place to stay. If we're ever in that area again and need accommodation, we'll definitely go back there.
There was nothing we didn't like.
Mark was an amazing host and gave us a tour of the grounds and a warm tipple to wet the whistle. Gave us a lift to town to watch a rugby match. Will be back again.
The rain
It was a hidden treasure tucked away by the Shannon river. The architecture of the house alone was enough to say it was a marvelous stay. And when you add the service from Mark, our host, his puppies, and the overall freedom we had to relax in the lounge area and dine in the dining room and basically believe for a few days that that was our home away from home, well that’s where our testimony truly stems from.
