I really enjoyed my time at Hotel at the End of the Universe. It felt like a private nature retreat as I needed to finish a book I am writing. I got to have the ‘camping’ experience, with access to a rustic restaurant and chill out area (with INCREDIBLE food by the way…) and fire pits that you can use everywhere. I was so productive during my stay, and every evening I enjoyed music jams and socialising. The staff are super friendly and made me feel at home… not to mention they are all very funny and happy to be working there. I know some reviews did not appreciate how basic the budget rooms are, and the bugs… but if you don’t like nature, then maybe it’s not for you. If, however, if you enjoy embracing nature, I would definitely recommend Hotel at the End of the Universe :)
Food was expensive
the staff was very friendly and helpful, the location and property is unique and has an amazing view when the sky is clear
bathroom facilities for the little cabins were lower standard, but enough if you are fine with cold showers
The room was well placed...with the best view and comfortable amenities.
The hot water supply for the shower was not stable and consistent...
Nothing not to like here. We LOVED IT. Room was clean and comfortable, simple and rustic but exactly what we were looking for. Amazing food, kind and helpful staff, views for days, near lots of spas and hiking trails. Can’t miss with this place!!
That it’s not closer to home (we’re from the US) for more frequent visits!
The sense of peace, the views, the accommodating staff.
Nothing
The location is great, though it is a little far from the city centre so you are abit far from the shopping area and restaurants. The location alone cant make up for it but you do get a great view.
The hotel and its rooms are old. They need maintenance, there is a big bug problem in the rooms. Even though we got a suite, the cleaniness wasnt great. There was no kettle in the room though hot water was available from reception. There are spiders and bugs due to forest and there are no nets in the windows. There is no AC or fan so it gets a bit stuffy if you close the doors due to bugs.
Get ready to survive all night. There will be critters everywhere, and the rooms are not properly sealed to protect you from these bugs/animals. The staff are rude, and the restaurant is overpriced. I left in the middle of the night, and walked down the street in the pouring rain to find a new hotel to stay at.
I genuinely didn’t like a single thing about this hotel. I checked in and checked straight back out - didn’t even stay the night because it was filthy. The staff were not friendly and were unhelpful.
A great place to unwind and stare at the gorgeous views (particularly from the new Boutique hotel!)
The shower and toilet with the little huts are a bit small and very basic, but we got offered to use a better bathroom in the dome tent instead which was much better
The entrance to the property was shocking because we arrived late around 11 pm and there was a steep entrance for climbing which shocked us initially
Not the best place to stay but the best restaurant, I would say. No hot water for tents/huts. Toilets are leaking on the floor and not flushing. Linen had hair from previous guests. You are surrounded by trees from most part of the property, hence no view for sunrise/sunset. You can enjoy big garden space and bonfire etc.
Great atmosphere, truely a unique place to stay. I stayed in one of the individual huts and it was goregous. the main dining area makesme wish I was a writer and could just sit there, in the log cabbin style dining and resting place and write novels.
Amazing view and nice staff
The cute hut I stayed in, loved it! Also the view is great and the management is very helpful and nice to chat with! Would also recommended the panoramic view hike.
The very cold shower
I loved the hotel and the staff. It was a beautiful experience for me and I would love to go again someday!!
I am not an avid fan of stairs. However, I am just nitpicking.
Lovely stay with lovely host and nice staff! We had only one night and we wished we could spend more time, it's like entering another dimension. Rooms are what we expected from a mountain hotel, but we were looking for experiences more than a perfect stay and that's what we had! Thank you, may we meet again :)
Location was great and restaurant ambiance was nice to.
You should add water boiler, tissue for room and room slippers pair if couple. Thank you
Very nice stuff, helped us with everything.
The staff, the view, the vibes, the commune area, the whole experience
It was a bit expensive for a wooden tent
Lovely location with beautiful Mountain View, lots of friendly local dogs to welcome in this lovely accommodation
They didn’t have kettle but they did provide us with warm water in a thermos that was quite nice of them
Nothing
Staff
friendly, helpful staff beautiful location cosy hut to sleep in food was very nice
cicadas
Good location and interesting concept
Damp and moisture all over due
Location is great. We walked to the view tower, took a 15 minute drive and hiked to a waterfall, and could walk a couple minutes to find shops and restaurants.
Bedding was dirty. The facilities aren’t maintained super well. And dogs roam the property and one got into one of our rooms and was found sleeping on a bed. They charge you for EVERYTHING and staying at this 1-star hotel ends up costing as much as booking one of the nearby 3-star hotels that include breakfast, heat, firewood, etc. They also don’t tell you about the costs upfront.
Very Special hotel in the forest of Nagarkot with great view of Himalayas. Gentle staff, clean and nice atmosphere.
The hut was so comfortable best sleep
May be Location
Absolutely not recommended for tourists with family.
Loved the staff here and the vibe. The place sits among trees and lush greenery and is very different from the more commercial hotels in Nagarkot. But it is fairly basic if you opt for the tent, and the shower/toilet is not the most well-kept area, but would definitely still go again.
Food portions were a bit small & toilet could have been cleaner.
Some of our best memories of Nepal... Imagine sitting around people from different nationalities around a bonfire on a chilly evening and jamming on songs from all kinds of languages. It was perfect. Rooms, food, restaurant, staff, owner, fellow travellers.. everything is good at this place. I totally loved it.
Nothing specific
The usual hotel is nice! Good place to relax, pretty interior and the staff was very friendly and chatty.
But I stayed in the budget rooms which was actually more like a tent, a lot of spiders and bathroom/toilet to share with the staff... So I would recommend staying in the actual hotel!
Tasty food & nice staff.
We ask for the quite & peace full room but it didn’t go well all night there was some weird noise they say it was from the new born puppies & dog. But because of that we were unable to sleep whole night.
The views are amazing. The staff were attentive and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Overall, good value for money
There is not alot around the hotel but its a great place to stay for trekking. The accommodation could have been cleaner.
I visited with a group of 5 and we had a wonderful time, all the staff were incredibly friendly and the other guests were respectful. We ordered food both the nights we stayed and were impressed with the quality of it!
the location and staff
electricity in the area disconnects occasionally and that affects the water and the Internet, but the stay are too helpful and always find a way to assist us
This hotel is very well located, on the top of Nagarkot. It is very peaceful - very nice to just chill and read a book. people were nice and gods was good.
we book a small « tent » and it was not very clean (worms and spiders) - of course it is comprehensive due to the location (middle of the woods), yet it was a little bit too much.
The location was beautiful and the hotel was spacious too. Food was good too.
They really should consider improving their room cleaning services. I was disappointed to find an unplugged toilet before even settling in my room.
