Reviewed May 26, 2026Saeed's Authentic Desert Camp was the crown jewel in our Oman vacation. The camp is beautiful while still being comfortable and an authentic Bedouin experience. The landscape surrounding the camp is stunning, and the camels are a real treat to interact with. The camel excursions were a lot of fun, and they are just beautiful animals that are well loved at the camp. The meals were home cooked recipes from Saeed's own family, and they were absolutely delicious. Saeed was an amazing host, and was extremely accommodating of our last minute schedule changes, staying contact with us until everything was settled. The camp staff was also top notch, friendly, and extremely punctual with pick ups and drop offs. The best part was Saeed's own stories about Bedouin food and culture, and he was conversational about just any topic. We highly recommend staying at this camp, we are looking forward to coming back some day.

Nous remercions tout particulièrement Said pour nous avoir permis de vivre une expérience désert inoubliable.
Il faut répéter et s'entrainer un peu plus pour les denses du soir) ahah :-)

Said führt das Camp mit sehr viel Liebe und Herzblut und ist ein außergewöhnlicher, herzlicher Gastgeber. Alles ist mit sehr viel Liebe und Achtsamkeit ausgestattet. Das Dunebashing zum Sonnenuntergang unbedingt empfehlenswert. Ein Abenteuer! Jederzeit wieder.

Reviewed Mar 21, 2026This was an unforgettable stay and should be part of everyone's Oman itinerary! The host was fantastic—extremely kind, professional, and he shared fascinating stories about his life and family background. The home-cooked food was some of the best we had in the entire country. We loved the authentic feel of the camp and the activities like camel riding and dune bashing, which gave us a much deeper understanding of the desert. The sunrise and sunset were simply unique and breathtaking.
There was nothing I didn't like about the stay itself. One important tip for future travelers: make sure to double-check the meeting point instructions! I made a mistake and clicked on the camp location in my GPS instead of the meeting point, which was completely on me. Just follow the host's specific directions for the pickup/meeting and everything will be perfect.

Said is an exceptional host — very kind, attentive, and funny. As a local Bedouin, he brings a truly authentic experience that you simply cannot replicate elsewhere. His stories and hospitality made our stay unforgettable.
We enjoyed several activities, including a camel ride, an exciting 4x4 desert drive, and sandboarding — all of which I can highly recommend. Everything was well organized and added so much to the overall experience.
The evening sitting by the fire, listening to local stories under the breathtaking night sky full of stars, was the perfect highlight and made the whole experience even more magical.
I would warmly recommend this stay to anyone looking for a genuine and unforgettable desert experience. Thank you Said!

Reviewed Feb 24, 2026Wir können uns den Vorrednern nur anschließen, es war eine wundervolle Erfahrung im Camp. Wir haben die Entschleunigung und Einfachkeit gegenüber einem Hotel genossen und würden daher auch mind. 2 Nächte im Camp empfehlen. Die Jeeptour durch die Dünen schmeckt nach Freiheit und der Ritt mit den Kamelen war besonders für die Kids ein Hit. Bei Gesprächen am Lagerfeuer unter dem Sternenhimmel kann man sich gut mit Mitreisenden austauschen und auch Saeed erzählte über Bräuche und Sitten des Omans. Am Ende unserer 2 wöchigen Rundreise waren die Tage mit Saeed unser Highlight. Vielen Dank dafür!

The camel ride was a proper one, 30 minutes minimum through the dunes, not just going around the camp. He knows them well as well. He makes everything he can to please the guest! Well done Said

Reviewed Feb 22, 2026Wspaniałe doświadczenie! Said wraz z zespołem przygotował najbardziej autentyczne doświadczenie pustyni, jakie można sobie wyobrazić jako turysta. Namiot był super przygotowany, świetnie spaliśmy. Śniadanie i obiadokolacja były bardzo smaczne. Skorzystaliśmy też z dune bashing i było to fenomenalne przeżycie, nasz kierowca zafundował nam prawdziwy pustynny rollercoaster.

Reviewed Feb 13, 2026I loved the experience. Staying in a tent that feels like a proper room in the middle of the desert was incredible. The food was amazing—they grill everything on-site—and after dinner there was a cosy fire to enjoy. We also took a camel trip to watch the sunset, which was unforgettable. Meeting the organiser was simple, and following him to the camp was very easy. The beds were comfortable, and overall the stay was both unique and relaxing.
The bathroom is outside the tent, as stated in the description, and it has no roof. However, it actually felt charming because you can see the stars while using it. The warm water is a bit limited, but that is expected when you are in the middle of the desert, so it was not an issue.

Reviewed Feb 12, 2026Superb experience, beautifully set tents and outdoor area. The sunset and sunrise excursions are worth it and for a good fair price, done by kind omani men. The evening we were demonstrated some traditional dances and then we sat by the fire with everybody while Saeed told us the story of his family and beduins in the desert. Saeed picked everyone up, deflated the tires and we could follow his car ( no extra charge). Thank you Saeed for your hospitality!

Een mooie overkoepelende groepsaccomodatie, restaurant en kampvuur plaats. En een hele aardige eigenaar met team!

Reviewed Apr 29, 2025Loved my desert stay at this camp. Lovely staff and location, it felt very secluded. The food was delicious, sleeping in a bed under the stars was magic, and the bathroom was very luxurious for the setting.
Not easy to find the location of the camp. The location provided on Google maps is not the location of the camp, and compared to a lot of the other camps there is very limited signage. I had given up and turned around to head into town and find alternative accommodation and then decided to turn into a track in the sand in a last ditch effort to find the camp after an hour without success and thankfully stumbled across it

It was a hot night and the staff put our beds outside the tents, sleeping under the stars and full moon night was above and beyond our expectations. Camel rides were a little pricey but ya gotta do it. Diner and breakfast were traditional and plentiful. We will be back!

Reviewed Apr 4, 2025If you are looking for a full immersion in the Bedouins' traditions, the Authentic Desert Camp hosted by Saeed is the best experience you could find in Oman desert ! From Omani hospitality to traditional dancing demonstrations, through a full tour of the desert, meet up with camels roaming around, we felt so comfortable with Saeed, who shared with passion all his knowledge with us.
Authentic food was served as well, including traditional Omani dishes and fresh grills, including traditional bread cooking in the fire.
It was an amazing experience, totally adapted for kids, group of friends and families!

After discovering the authentic bedouin tent we were going to stay in, he brought us into the desert by car for some dune bashing and to see some camels. Hugging desert camels was amazing!
Then Saeed set up a little traditional sitting area on a high dune for us to watch the sunset.
Back to the camp we had a traditional dinner and tried to learn some traditional dancing.
In the morning we were able to enjoy breakfast and take our time in the nearby dunes and with his camels.

Reviewed Mar 20, 2025Amazing experience with Sayyid who really puts a lot of effort into making the guests feel comfortable- from the meet-up till the last moments of our stay we really felt that he truly cared for us, providing all help and a lot of time in our stay. We got engaged a few days before coming to his camp and just mentioned it to him and he prepared a totally unexpected cake for us! What is more, he knows a lot about the desert life as he comes from a Beduin family. I really recommend staying at his place to get the true desert experience :)

- unlimited water, juice, tea and coffee
- private bathroom with stars view:D (no roof, it's not so hot in there thanks to it, it makes very much sense)
- common space which wasn't so hot during the day like the tent
- we highly recommend to stay longer than just one night
- food can be monotonous when on 3 nights, but one day we got totally different thing specially for us because we were alone in the camp

Reviewed Mar 6, 2025Saïd is welcoming person. We did the desert ride ourselves. We stuck, but the first local helped us, with the tires. From then on no problems. Saïd was already looking for us, as our drive was longer then he expected. Once at his campsite, we were surprised by the totally sand free tents. Every tent comes with an own toilet and shower. Saïd took us for sunset drive during which you will enjoy dunebashing and you’ll have a bit of introduction to what the Dakar rally is about. At the end he serves Beduin coffee at the top a dune. My wife and I, enjoyed it a lot, even though normally we never drink coffee. In the evening he serves dinner to all his guests after which he and his crew start to dance.
Before sunrise we did also the sunrise tour, and again dunebashing (Saïd likes to impress his guests with it).
After returning we had breakfast which was again ok.
The camp is really authentic as it called. All the tents were used by Saïd’s family, before they settled in Al-Wasil.
Just keep in mind, to take a shower before sunset of after sunrise, because there’s of course no hot water.
If you want to visit Wadi Bani Khalid, you should leave quickly after breakfast to be there before the groups arrive there from Muscat, at 10:00-10:30. The problem is, that Saïd is so welcoming, that you feel bad about leaving so early. But just explain to him and he understands it. Take in account that in the village you need to pump up your tires (1 rial). You’re not the only one, locals do the same thing, so take about 15 min in account for it.
All the airplanes fly above the desert, so it’s not totally quiet at night. It’s not disturbing, bit good to know.

Everything was very well organized from the beginning, the food was delicious and the tents are beautiful. You have all the comfort you need and even more, with a private bathroom.
We also recommend the dune bashing!
Rather solitary location within the hotspot of desert stays in Wahiba Sands. Likely one of the camps that come closest to an authentic Bedu desert experience. Extremely friendly hosts who are also very efficient and accurate. Spacious tents with private bathroom including toilet and shower (not very authentic, but appreciated nonetheless ;-))

The sunrise drive across the dunes was breathtaking, offering panoramic views of the desert & fun music! The evening was filled with joy & some dancing! The traditional meals were a culinary delight, providing an authentic taste of Omani cuisine. Camel riding was a unique experience, and meeting a baby camel was a charming highlight. Our guide, Saeed, was exceptional—knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, ensuring our experience was both educational and enjoyable. The camp’s commitment to providing an authentic Bedouin experience, from the traditional accommodations to the cultural activities, made our stay truly special. 
We should’ve booked more nights because it was so fun! Hindsight 20/20!

Nice location amongst sand dunes. Nice sunset. Only 10 min from main road. Easily accessible by any 4x4. Danced nicely celebrating Bidoun traditions.
Host Syed was downright rude. It felt they have bias towards western tourists as they were treated very well while we were ignored summarily. Trigger was when we refused to buy any packages like dune bashing or camel ride etc which they pushed in our face right from arrival for next hour. Very money minded. Electricity and water were insufficient giving “fully authentic experience”.

Everyone at the camp was really nice. The tents are clean and comfortable. Private little bathroom attached. Food was very good.
Also did the dune bashing tour for sunset which was amazing.
Absolutely recommend if you want an authentic desert experience, dont expect luxury or special amenities, but still very clean and comfortable tents.

Reviewed Nov 8, 2024If you want an authentic experience, then this Camp is a really good choise. Well located between the dunes, quiet and not so big - 7 tents. Beautifully decorated. Good Omani food for both evening and morning. Camel ride at sunrise was absolutely fantastic -20omr Per Person for 1 hour. Said and his brother made us all feel extremely welcome, they were very attentive. They provided good entertainment and good conversation. You sense that the desert means something to them. Thank you for for the experience .🤩
We became bogged in the sand on the way and Saeed was very helpful in assiting us to get to the camp. He and his brother and cousin were great hosts and we had a lovely time. I would recommend this experinece.

The jeep trip to the sunset and sand dunes was amazing. In the evening we had a traditional Arabic dinner and a nice sitting by the fire. You can also book a camel ride. Saeed really cares about the comfort and satisfaction of his guests, we can highly recommend it.
Also suitable for children, my ten-year-old son really enjoyed it.
Everything was perfect.
