Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Full of character, to be sure.
Bathroom needs some bleach. Grout was black and gross.
A taste of old Ireland. Very authentic. Reminded me of stays with my grandparents.
Shared bathroom - but it wasn’t a problem for a night.
Le lit était très inconfortable
Kingfisher Lodge and Pub is such a unique place and absolutely everything to Paddy. He was such a lovely host. Loved there was a fridge available to store some food items!
As with all Irish places, no cooling is available for the rare hot spells. Took a little bit to cool down as upstairs. But it was bearable.
very poor should be shut down.
Everything was very poor and should not be open to the public.
Paddy was a great host and the pub is full of character and charm. The beds were comfortable, the room and bathroom room had everything you could need. Its in a nice quiet area with not much to do but there is a great takeaway place next door (recommended by Paddy) that does a solid margarita pizza.
The cleanliness needs be improved if they are "professionally cleaned" (left over rubbish in the bedside drawers, wiped down bedside tables). For a 200 year old building some wear and tear is expected.
The man who checked us in was very polite, happy, and welcoming.
The positive customer service could not make up for the fact that the property itself is completely unacceptable and in a shocking state of disrepair. We booked expecting a quaint, characterful lodge, but the reality was an absolute nightmare. When we arrived, the pub lodge looked as though it had been ransacked. The taxidermy pheasant for one should be removed and the excessive dusty nick nacks on the shelves in the bedroom are not necessary, to actually give space to put anything. The room itself was incredibly scruffy and bore little resemblance to the photos online. When we looked inside the shared bathroom, there was black mold covering the shower walls - a genuine health hazard. The man checking us in tried to excuse the conditions by pointing out that the building is 250 years old. An historic building is no excuse for a total lack of basic cleanliness and hygiene. Old should absolutely not mean dirty. The conditions were so appalling that we felt entirely uncomfortable staying. We chose to hand the keys right back and leave immediately to find an alternative hotel.
Amazing host! Super cozy familiar vibes it really seems like all the locals are coming here.
Not a negative just a caution this pub doesn’t serve food there’s fast food or an Asian restaurant nearby
You can’t beat the owner. Just so friendly, helpful and kind. Made you feel like you were coming home for the holiday
Na
Eenvoud.
Badkamer en kamer erg gedateerd. Geen eigen water en toilet.
All excellent especially the host
Pub authentique
The lodge keeper was by and by the most welcoming sort of person. He treated us like family. If you want old world charm and a true Irish experience, overlook the new places and stay here!
Shared bathroom with all guests
Loved it as soon as I walked in the door. Was greeted by Paddy and made to feel at home. Only stayed for 3 nights but felt like 3 weeks. He's a good man and I'm really pleased to have met him so fortuitously though a booking of a property I hadn't stayed in before. I was participating in the Limerick Marathon on the Sunday and the comfort and pleasantness of the trip and stay at Kingfisher really helped and relaxed me.
Nothing - TV didn't work properly but didn't need it.
Inconfortable
Owner was nice
Bed was too soft
Great atmosphere thanks to Paddy (happy 89th birthday)
It's a very quirky place and won't suit anyone who likes uncluttered and modern
Paddy! Real Irish charm!
Paddy is an exceptional host! Kind, helpful, funny and all around good craic!
Comfortable accommodations with a very charming host, Paddy, in a walkable and scenic town. Good food options nearby. The pub offered good seating and drink options for food we brought in.
Not necessarily a dislike but for transparency for other guests, the lodging is clean but large hodge podge collection of memorabilia. Can appeared cluttered but is a charming extension of the place
Amfitrió molt atent. Et fa sentir com a casa
Very friendly owner. Bed was pretty comfortable. Was decent value.
I probably would not stay here again. As per the description provided, this place is old. However, we did not feel that it was old in a charming way - more of a neglected way. It is like going to stay in your granny's house from 30 years ago. There was no lock on the shared bathroom. Room was not ready at the scheduled check-in time. While the host is very charming and we did not visit the pub (which a lot of people enjoy), I would probably choose to stay somewhere else.
Paddy was very friendly and helpful.
Paddy. He made our stay what it was. If it wasn’t for him, it wouldn’t have been nearly as nice. It truly felt like we were in Ireland.
Paddy is de beste gastheer. Hij is heel vriendelijk en gastvrij.
Patty!!
Excellent place for a short stay. Host is a character and very welcoming. Rooms are very comfortable. Family room was a good size
Of course ensuite would be desirable but it wasn't a problem to be honest. The price reflects this and overall was very good value
Amabilidad del anfitrión. Pub antiguo y auténtico.
Muchas personas para un baño.
The overall atmosphere.
Bathtub was very old and could really use renovation.
Charming rustic building, perfect for our group.
I loved it all, but it won’t be for everyone.
This place is old and charming and the owner, Paddy, could not have been nicer or more helpful. I'll definitely be staying here again when I'm next in Limerick.
I liked everything
The owner was amazing! So kind and thoughtful! I cant recommend this location enough! Especially to any Americans that would like an authentic Irish place to stay. Beautiful walks and sights nearby also!
The friendliness of the staff, the safe parking the safe environment you were located
A bit aged but fit for purpose a bit quirky and unusual old furniture but more historical than anything.
The owner Paddy was amazing!!
Sharing a bathroom with 4 other rooms
Shared toilet kept flushing all night. Some areas dusty.
Comfy, warm and cosy
Besitzer
Great value and everything you could need there
Room was a bit too warm, just turned off the electric rad and opened the window
Paddy is a gentleman and welcomed me back warmly (I've stayed here before). The cosy bar was decorated beautifully for Christmas, complete with a blazing fire. The bed was very comfy...the room well prepared and good value for money. Not luxury but homely, cosy n quirky!
It was quaintly retro Irish.
Nothing much. It is not a luxury hotel, just an authentic homely Irish experience.
Paddy is so friendly and engaging. Couldn't do enough for me. The bar downstairs is quirky and cosy with an open fire and was decorated for Christmas. It is a lovely bar. The bedroom was clean n the bed so comfy. Availed of a shared bathroom, which was different, but it was fine. There was a kettle, fridge, and microwave on the landing upstairs outside my room, which came in handy. All in all good value for money and felt taken care of
The landing creaks a little!!!
This is a special place that radiates authenticity, as far away from the pubs along Temple Bar in Dublin that you can possibly come. A rustic little pub not so far away from the River Shannon. Due to this, the place is full of fishing gear, stuffed fish, and pictures of catch and fishermen, in addition to all kinds of other stash, including an anvil. The top attraction is the owner Paddy, friendly and humorous. We arrived in the evening and was invited to bring in some take-away food from the Chinese restaurant down the street. Nice parking spot in the back.
If you are looking for a spotless, shiny place, this may not be your choice. That said, the room we had upstairs was nice and clean, and had the vibe you only find in an old house. (No ghosts were seen though.) You may hear some noise from downstairs, but we had a good night sleep here. Shared bathroom, but no queue and plenty of clean towels.
It was an amazing experience! Paddy, the owner of the lodge na dyne bar downstairs is wonderful. It felt like visiting a relative, a cool grandpa. He welcomed us and showed us our room. And then later we spent some time in the pub, having some delicious Guinness and warm chats with Paddy and some of other guest in the pub. The room was very nice na d warm.
good atmosphere frindly lanlord
no ok
Location, ample off road parking. Paddy was charming, served the best Guinness I have ever had in a very quaint bar steeped in history. When asked what time the bar closed he replied “Christmas” - we were in early November!
Upon arrival the place looks abandoned, paint in poor condition, windows cracked - it’s in darkness. Paddy let me in, showed me the rooms all of which looked in need of extensive decoration. Window in RM2 was cracked and actually had plants growing through into the room - the bathroom was ok bar the shower; a health hazard with mould on the shower head. But, the kettles worked, good WiFi, and Paddy was such a gent it’s hard to complain… anywhere else I would have demanded an immediate refund.
The idea as described in Booking.com of a Irish Pub with singing and food in a quaint village - the impression from our original booking - sadly, none of that exists
No atmosphere Run-down building Old bedding and towels Filthy bathroom Lonely old man host who took big money from travellers for company No food No music No lock on the shared bathroom Well below the level of a 1- star rating
L'auberge typique.
Nulla
The old charm, history of the place and just chatting with Paddy, a true gentleman
Paddy, the location, the vibe, the conversations, the locals, the history of the pub, the beds
That I can’t be a permanent tenant :(
Fantastic rustic old building, however needs a good deep clean . Paddy was really nice .
Cleanliness
They sent an email to say we should not have hiugh expectations for this 200 year old coaching inn. They were right. There is a diffeence between old and dirty, unclean and uncempt.
Dirty seats, bar, unhygenie room. Horrible. The owner was drunk and kept pking me with his finger when talking to me. If we could find somewhere else on the night we would have left.
Host is a very nice person.
Place needs to cleaning
Host friendly Quaint bar Bedroom quiet and pleasant temperature
Quality of bedlinen poor No towels in bedroom- not given any. Expected to share those in shared bathroom?? No breakfast available, and no cafes in vicinity
