Casa da Avó

De gastvrouw was superlief en zorgzaam, we kregen ook banaantjes van hun eigen teelt. De grote slaapkamer was heel fijn, licht en ruim, en het balkon was erg prettig. Voor de kinderen waren er 3 losse bedden, wat zij erg fijn vonden. Het stadje Machico was leuk, sfeervol met een heel mooi pleintje met romantische terassen. Het strand was ook fijn, de mensen waren heel vriendelijk en de parasolhuur was enorm goedkoop. Het strand was school en de zee was ook prettig (ook met kleine kinderen).

Het was jammer dat het balkon niet bij de keuken was, het was niet gemakkelijk om buiten te eten, omdat je dan met de pannen door de slaapkamer moest. Wat een beetje tegenviel, was dat de regen iets meer blijft hangen in dit stuk van het eiland. We zaten (voor dit verblijf) ook enkele dagen ten westen van Funchal, en daar was het veel zonniger. Let op voor lange mensen: het aanrecht is heel laag en er is geen vaatwasser. Wij hadden er wel een beetje last van, bij koken en afwassen (wij zijn 1.80 en 1.90)

Everything was perfect

Belle chambre agréable à l’étage et gentillesse de l’hôte que nous avons croisé. Il y a aussi un restaurant italien juste à côté qui est très bien !!

La vue de la terrasse sur les montagnes est belle mais on voit surtout la route… c’est dommage que les photos ne le montrent pas.

Very clean and well stocked apartment with a large terrace off the main bedroom. Very nice host and on site parking.

Quirky layout with kitchen, bath and small bedroom (no window) on the ground floor, a small sitting area upstairs then a very spacious main bedroom a few more stairs up. Sort of awkward but worked ok for us since it was just two of us. Lots of mosquitoes so had to keep the doors and windows closed with AC on and use bug repellent. A long uphill walk from the old town and beach so mostly drove back and forth.

Mooi verblijf op kwartier lopen naar centrum. Leuke restaurantjes en supermarkt in de buurt. Lieve gastvrouw/heer, goed bereikbaar. Alles was aanwezig, inclusief kleinigheidjes als bananen, verse munt en traditionele koek. Bed lag lekker. Parkeren bij het huis. Aanrader!

Je zit iets verder van het centrum en moet een heuvel op, maar dit is prima te doen.

Nice host, good location to explore the area, parking spot, spacious master bedroom and a large terrace to relax, garden, great pizzeria next door.

The shower was full of mold, the sheets in one of the bedrooms were dirty, there was a strong smell of humidity in downstairs bedrooms and upstairs closets, noisy roundabout just outside of the property, price too high for the quality of the accommodation.

The owners Dulce and her husband were sooooo jice and kind. They welcomed us the house, recommend places and introduce the house spaces. They are very helpful. Reallly really recommend this place.

Poslední ubytování na Madeiře a naprosto skvělé. Hostitelka byla velmi ochotná a vstřícná, parkování možné před ubytováním. Dům je plně vybaven a lze zde najít vše co potřebujete pro příjemný pobyt. Z balkonu je krásný výhled na město. Hned vedle je nová italká restaurace (doporučujeme).

Sehr zuvorkommende Gastgeber. Haben viele verschiedene lecker Früchte vom eigenen Garten geschenkt bekommen.

We had the most wonderful stay in Casa de Avo and were very sad to leave it. The location is perfect, beautiful surroundings and walking distance from the centre of Machico. There are two big supermarkets about 15 mins walk away as well as local bakery with fresh baked goods and cakes just 2 mins walk away. It is a perfect location for hiking with lots of hikes that can be even started in Machico, while others just short drives away. Dulce was a lovely and welcoming host and the house itself is well equipped, kitchen has every utensil that can think of. Wonderful stay and hope to be back at some point!

Dulce welcomed us upon arrival with fresh fruit from her garden and local food and drinks. The house has everything you need for your stay, from a coffee machine, toaster, microwave... It is located in a quiet area with free parking in front of the house. Upstairs, there is a large bedroom with access to a balcony where you can enjoy the peace and the view of the city in the evening. The rooms are equipped with big wardrobes, so there is plenty of space to store your belongings, and the beds are comfortable. Just 20 meters from the house is Pizzeria Alforno, so when you don’t feel like cooking, you can go for a really good pizza. Throughout our stay, Dulce was available and always ready to help (which means a lot when you are far from home). There really wasn’t anything we were missing. If we ever return to Madeira, this is where we would want to stay again.

Bardzo ładny, przestronny dom z tarasem, pięknym ogródkiem i miejscem parkingowym. Wyposażenie przewyższało nasze oczekiwania. Bardzo pomocni i sympatyczni gospodarze. Przyjemna i spokojna okolica. Po sąsiedzku restauracja. Dobry punkt wypadowy do Funchal, na Półwysep św. Wawrzyńca, w pobliżu rozpoczyna się szlak na Pico de Facho, z którego rozpościera się piękny widok na całe Machico i okolicę. Obiekt godny polecenia.

Very comfy large double bed. There was lots of useful maps, leaflets, tourist info and bus time tables in the property. Our host Dulce and her husband were very helpful. Thanks for a great stay.

Dulce ist sehr nette und unglaublich herzliche Gastgeberin. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Bei der Ankunft wurden wir mit dem frischem Obst und lokalen Süßigkeiten begrüßt. Das Haus ist sehr sauber und hat absolut alles was man brauchen könnte .

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment - it was even better than it appeared in the pictures. The views from the windows were stunning, and the terrace was a great addition. Everything was clean, tidy, and well-maintained. The host was incredibly welcoming and responsive, always quick to reply. We were greeted with fresh fruit and local sweets, which was a nice touch. The host also provided excellent recommendations for nearby places to eat, shop, and explore. The rooster songs in the morning added a charming, rustic touch to our stay. The only thing we would have wished for was heating options, as our trip to Madeira was in mid-December, and it felt a bit chilly in the apartment. However, there were plenty of warm blankets available to keep us comfortable. We would definitely recommend Casa da Avó as a place to stay when visiting Madeira.

An absolutely lovely place to stay! It was only a pity that we stayed just for one night. We were three people but this little cute house easily accommodates five. Beautifully furnished and decorated, surrounded by a small garden, and it has a gorgeous balcony. The host is extremely kind, she had brought us clementines, lemons and peppermint for tea from the same garden and bananas from nearby. An absolute recommendation!

It was super clean, host was amazing! She was prepared for every situation. Small things like a whole jar of tea, shows that she don’t count- she gives everything from her heart! Garden was amazing, she invited us with fruits from the garden. Also, view from the balcony is amazing. Close you have 2 restaurants. You can use parking. Roads in the neighbourhood are easy to drive! I fell in love with hospitality! Definitely I will be back!

Dulce is an incredibly welcoming and helpful host. There were thoughtful food gifts on arrival and the accommodation was spotlessly clean. There is an excellent Italian restaurant immediately next door.

Unfortunately, there were many mosquitoes but that was related to the time of year and location. Bring mosquito repellent!

Tout était absolument parfait ! L’emplacement pratique, la propreté impeccable, les équipements, la literie commode, les propriétaires adorables ! On peut venir à 2, 3 ou 4 personnes, juste se poser et profiter de cette belle maison refaite à neuf. Il y a absolument tout dont on peut avoir besoin. Les draps et les serviettes sentent bon le propre, la maison est décorée avec goût et de petites attentions vous attendent. Allez-y les yeux fermés !

Gościnni gospodarze i bardzo dobrze wyposażony dwukondygnacyjny dom z pięknym ogrodem. Świetnie wyposażona kuchnia, bardzo wygodne łóżka. Taras z krzesłami i leżakami z widokiem na miasteczko. Gospodarze prawie codziennie obdarzali nas owocami ze swojego ogrodu, papajami, mango, batatami. Obok restauracje i mały sklepik. Własne miejsce parkingowe. Przy wyborze należy uwzględnić konieczność chodzenia po schodach wewnątrz apartamentu, co nie jest zgodne z opisem na Bookingu, że całość jest zlokalizowana na parterze.

de ruimte was groot, fijne grote keuken met een ruime tafel met voldoende stoelen. We konden ook de wasmachine gebruiken, wat heel fijn was! Ook mochten we kruiden uit de tuin pakken, lekker vers! Dulce gaf ons mandarijnen en bananen uit eigen tuin, super! heel grote slaapkamer met veel kastruimte, wat zorgt voor ruimte doordat je goed je tas uit kan pakken! Fijn bed en volop keus in kussens, ook fijn! We konden de luiken dichtdoen en de ramen open laten zodat we op een veilige manier altijd frisse lucht hadden. het grote balkon/dakterras was heerlijk! We hebben er bijna alle 10 de dagen kunnen ontbijten. er was een tussen verdieping met een tv, bank en laptop, waar we lekker films op hebben gekeken

de hysterische hond van de buren! Die was continue aan het blaffen, en zodra je in de tuin kwam ging hij hysterisch tekeer als je een beetje in de buurt van zijn balkon was. Dat was wel irritant

Heerlijk huis en gastvrij ontvangst

Pessoas muito meigas, deixou frutas da madeira para nós provar e bolo. Com um licor da mesma ilha da tradição. Tem um parque para estacionar o carro, sempre com o apoio dos donos. A casa tem uma vista deslumbrante.

Sad that we only stayed 1 night

Everything about Casa da Avó was fantastic. Our hosts met us upon check in to show us around the accomodation which was fully equipped. Machico is a quiet town but has all the ammenities you would need close by. There is a great view of the town from the terrace at the accommodation, lovely spot for a sunset drink or dinner. Riccardo and Dulce were very lovely and accomodating, Dulce even dropped by later on during our stay to drop off some fruit which was very kind!

Not a criticism, just a note for American and Australian travellers. There is no AC much like the rest of Europe, so it can get a little warm. However opening all windows gives a lovely cooling breeze which was perfect to sleep in :) .

L'emplacement est nickel. La vue est magnifique et les hôtes sont vraiment très sympas ! Un grand merci à eux pour leur acceuil et leur gentillesse. Ce n'est pas leur activité principale. Ils ont rénové la maison de leur grand-père pour y acceuillir des touristes. Un grand merci à Riccardo pour nous avoir emmenés à l'aéroport à 4h30 du matin.

House is on nice place in Machico, approx. 1 km from beach. There Is everything what you need for your vacation in the house. House is very clean and owners very nice and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and I highly recommend this accomodation.

Really lovely accomodation. Spacious, comfortable, clean, fully equipped kitchen. We only stayed for one night but will happily stay here again for longer next time we are in Madeira. The little touches like coffee pod machine, water and traditional cake provided, computer and TVs etc go a long way to making a great stay. Parking off road right in front of the property very handy. Highly recommend!

A self check in process would make things easier/smoother I think.

Belle maisonnette avec tout le nécessaire, y compris pour des séjours longs! Lit très confortable, hôtes adorables, restaurant O grelhador à quelques mètres qui était très bon. Logement entretenu et aménagé avec beaucoup de soin.

Il ne faut pas que ça vous empêche de réserver dans ce logement mais prévoyez juste des boules quies pour la nuit, la ville peut être un peu animée la nuit

Really great to have such a location at only 10min from the airport. We have appreciated the comfort and the welcome during our stay. Moreover having to move early everything was quite easy to go out. Just a warning regarding the 2 single bed room : the entrance is really small to go inside so it's convenient for kids but not for adults.

Līdz Mačiko smilšu pludmalei 15-20 minūšu gājiens. Sportiskie un aktīvie noteikti novērtēs salīdzinoši netālu esošās kalnu takas. Liels pluss ir lidostas tuvums- ar taxi ~ 8 minūšu brauciens, ar autobusu no Mačiko autoostas ~10- 15 min. Īpaši jāatzīmē fantastiskie apartamentu saimnieki❤️tik sirsnīgus, viesmīlīgus, izpalīdzīgus, gaišus un sirds siltus cilvēkus reti gadās satikt- brīnišķīga uzņemšana 🫶 Noteikti izvēlēšos šos apartamentus vēlreiz❤️paldies🌞🌞🌞

We were independent for all meals Lovely bedroom and outside deck. Clean and products left for cleaning. We could have requested the owners to clean for us. the owner was fabulous, very friendly and helpful in every way.

There were a lot of stairs, so probably not so suitable for old travellers or anyone with knee issues

This apartament is very good equipped - there is everytnig you can possibly need and even more ( eg. bookguides, walking sticks, computer to use!). Place is spacious enough for few people, kitchen gives opportunity to prepare own food. Terrace on upper floor. Would be nice for a few days stay during nice(r) weather.

Keybox would be a good idea - to check- in and out without calling the owner. The place is a bit dark - not so much of daylight ( blindend windows, part of rooms without one). A bit away of city center- in the suburb area, but with bus connection next to the building.

The house was easy to find, and Dulce and her husband couldn't have been more helpful or nice. Good location to travel around that side of the island. When it was cloudy in Machico went north to Santana area, blue sky and sunshine! Lovely walks, and Machico is a nice place, with a good sandy beach

La gentillesse de nos hôtes, toujours disponibles pour aider ou répondre à la moindre question et rendre service. La maison est superbement décorée, entre modernité et authenticité. Tous les équipements nécessaires sont disponibles, le linge de maison ainsi que les serviettes de plage sont fournis, avec des attentions particulières à notre accueil (fruits, gâteau...). De plus la maison se trouve à quelques minutes à pied du centre ville, nous permettant de profiter pleinement des fêtes, et de la plage ou des supérettes. Un grand merci nous nous sommes sentis comme chez nous !

Thank you very much for a pleasant short stay. The owner had to arrive at 3 a.m. due to a delayed flight.In the apartment was available fruit and coffee, which we welcomed in the morning.
