Our waiters Dylan and Tom were amazing as was the rest of staff
I had to leave
The breakfasts gave us variety and choice and we both liked how it was served. We also liked the area so we could explore the surrounding area.
The rooms needed updating.
Location was brilliant as was the accommodation
Location
It’s very tired and outdated
Food was exceptional. Beautifully cooked, high quality and tasty. Staff were attentive, kind and always happy to help. Beautiful old oub in a fantastic location
Rooms are very tired and the bed mattress was so uncomfortable, it had springs coming through .
Staff were excellent
Room in desperate need of refurbishing
As usual, a great stay. 11am checkout excellent. Very convenient and free parking a plus.

Lovely old fashioned pub in a great location. Very affluent area. People very friendly and room clean and comfortable.
Lift was a bit rickety.
Good location and food was good.
Needs updating and redecorating.
Staff were very helpful and the room was nice
The poached eggs at breakfast were overdone and very vinegary but otherwise it was lovely
Location is great for us. Staff always very helpful and pleasant.
Very very much in need of some refurbing! Extremely tatty now in places. No biscuits with tea and coffee 😊
This is a great location within a lovely pub that was value for money. There are fantastic bars and restaurants within walking distance and a train station nearby into Manchester city. We would stay here again.
The rooms were a little tired looking and could do with decoration to brighten it up.
The staff were really friendly. Breakfast was delicious and hit. With continental option too. Bed was comfy.
Corridors and doors could do with updating. Room was very warm needs air con. Lumpy pillows
Le côté cosy hors du temps Super agréable
Rien
The location was great and that bar was super atmospheric old style. Friendly staff.
The room was dated with peeling wallpaper and old chipping tiles.
Lovely character property
Nothing!
STAFF ARE LOVELY, VERY HELPFUL.
IT LOOKS ABIT DATED, NEEDS A MAKEOVER
Great location pub and restaurant excellent food
Rooms were a little tired and in need of upgrading
We thought the pub was great, the staff very nice, friendly & very welcoming
We know it’s an old building & the rooms were very clean but the decor lets it down, and the smell in the bathroom was awful, got woken up at 12.50am by noisy people in the next room coming in & noisy for the next 45mins,then again when they went at 6.45am when we were looking forward to a lie in,the breakfast was excellent, staff were spot on! It’s ok for an overnight stay but wouldn’t stay any longer than that
room and staff were amazing. Loved it.
Location, breakfast,
Attention to detail in the room not there. Curtain hook off , so curtain not hanging right Lamp lopsided TV Lopsided and loose on the wall Cobwebs in the corners Headboard partially hanging off Painting of the room was very poor and paint covering edges, switches etc, this could have easily been scraped off.
Easy parking, good location, bar and waiting staff were excellent.
The hotel is in need of renovation and looks scruffy in parts. The room was exceedingly hot ( it was a hot day), and needed a makeover and it wasn't comfortable, nor was the bed. Dinner was very disappointing so we didn't stay for breakfast
Lovely old worldly
Nothing
Great location, pub was lovely
Room was tired, mould across the bathroom walls and ceiling. Room 29 was incredibly hot with just a fan and no ac. Very loud road noise if window was open so had to suffer the heat with just the fan
Staff were great and breakfast was great. Good parking area. Ideal location. Good size room. Tea and coffe fac in room. Bed was comfortable. We had to sleep on top of the covers due to the heat.
Rooms very shabby and no air conditioning so was unbearably hot. Bathroom very dated and rooms are badly in need of an overhall. Asked about an accessible room but there is none. Got told there is a lift. You have to open a door to acces the lift and a metal gate which you need to close for it to operate. The lift is a deathtrap and was not suitable for a wheelchair. We were put in a room on the 2nd floor down at the end of the corridor. The shower is over the bath and ran either cold or really hot. A fan was provided in the room but just circulated the hot air in the room. Would not stay here again.
Location is very good The hotel is in a fantastic spot..great for people watching
The hotel is looking tired and shabby The rooms are dated and dark Bathroom was clean but basic Bed very hard and uncomfortable
Bar and breakfast
Tired and no air con stayed a few times before and was thinking it would have been upgraded by now but seems to be just in decline
Breakfast was lovely great location staff friendly
Room was little outdated and electrics could do with an overhaul but nothing major we didn't like stayed here for years 👍🏻
Great location, Good value, Pub itself is beautiful, Breakfast was great.
Rooms could do with an upgrade, more so the bathrooms are very dated & not the best.
Really nice pub, well decorated and friendly staff
Little bit dated and the room was extremely hot, we did have a fan but it was very warm. Can’t complain too much as the price was perfect for the short stay!
Property was in a great location for my visit
Everything
Well, noise from people in carpark at antisocial times
Lovely old building
Fire alarm going off on a Sunday morning with the smell of burnt toast lingering, Food wasn’t the greatest but edible
Great as in the centre of the town
Weather was very warm and no air con but that wouldn’t stop us coming again as we already knew this
Not alot. Dowdy, in need of new decor
Rooms too hot. No fridge. No Aircon.
Beautiful hotel/pub in a lovely location. Comfortable and clean with really lovely, attentive staff who looked after us throughout our stay
Nothing. It was lovely
Location
Everything but location, room is unbelievably tired and possibly unfit for habitation - worst room we have ever stayed in.
We loved the location of this hotel,, fantastic value for money , wonderful friendly staff ,,
Nothing
The location was perfect for all the restaurants and bars. The staff were all lovely and couldn’t have been more attentive.
That it was a bath rather than walk in shower.
Breakfast was excellent each morning. The staff were all so helpful and friendly, particularly Lucy who went over and beyond. Overall, the place was very charming and lovely. Thank you.
Great location for event we were attending Quiet room
Rooms need a refresh / toilet seat loose room 26 Walls quite marked
This is an historic building and the best use is made of all its ancient features. The food was excellent and the room was very comfortable. The location was good as I needed to stop somewhere after landing early evening at Manchester Airport before traveling south to Devon the next day. I will definitely use this hotel again when flying to or from Manchester.
Lovely cosy rooms, nice pub feel to the whole building. Very well located and easily accessible.
Layout of the room meant it was quite narrow getting into the room as the door couldn't open fully before hitting the desk and the wardrobe was immediately in front of the door. We could get through, but with larger bags would have been an issue. Also no extractor fan in the bathroom so it steamed up after showers, but quickly cleared with the window open
There was a large free car park and it was in a good location near the town so easy to walk to. Menu was very good choice dinner and breakfast.
There was no garden area to sit in. Only a paved area at the front by the road. Huge double bed but was a little hard. Shower adequate but not brilliant but there was an optional bath
Clean, crisp cotton bedding. Huge Telly. Very clean bathroom. Very comfy bed. Powerful shower. Nice and quiet. Fan provided. Brewing stuff and a glass for water.
Can't really fault the place. Decor was a little tired and there was no door handle to hang the do not disturb sign but that did not effect the experience
Helpful staff, went out of their way to help.
Room and location. did not have breakfast
nothing
Absolutely love staying here, perfect location, staff, food, drinks, everything is just wonderful 😀
Nothing!
Great breakfast with lots of choice and very friendly staff, room was a bit cramped with the side of the double bed up against a wall, very dated bathroom
Bed was pushed against wall so person on one side had climb over bed
Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed.
The bedroom and bathroom could do with an upgrade. Needs some hooks to hang towels Bathroom could do with shelving for toiletries
Good location, good parking, decent breakfast
Rooms are tired, too warm, a little noisy
The location
Very clinical, unable to use plug sockets as too low.
Everything was great food bar
Everything was great no problems
Location
Breakfast poor
Hyggelig personalet, bra beliggenhet.
Dårlig AC på hotellet
The parking is free and we stay there as it is close to a meeting we attend
Good location.
WiFi very poor had to go downstairs to use the bar WiFi very poor in the room
Very friendly and informative
Very dated needs some update in rooms but value for money what we payed £57
Didn’t have breakfast due to leaving at 0700.
I really can’t fault the hotel/staff/facilities. Everything was first class.
Location They had a fan going to try to cool room before we arrived
Room was very tired. Paint flaking and missing, cobwebs around ceiling . Towel rail in bathroom was very hot and couldn’t be turned off, in a heatwave Room and bathroom were clean
Clean and handy for our needs
Nothing
Staff super friendly and helpful

Great staff food great.
A bit tired but clean
Position
Bedrooms tired and dated.
Great location, and was a lovely looking property and bar
Room was a little small and hot
Staff were excellent
Rooms need updating
The location is superb
The food was awful I had to send it back twice..
Central location
The bedroom there was a wall mirror but no power socket close enough to use hair dryer. The hot water was dangerously hot despite the warning signs a child could easily scold themselves. Why does the hot water temperature need to be so high surely it must be possible to reduce the temperature
Loved the staff, breakfast and location.
The rooms are very dated, desperately in need of updating, decorating and replacing furniture, beds and fittings
Good breakfast, you can 'build' your own from the choices on offer.
Great location, friendly staff, nice and clean and a good breakfast with a good choice.
The pillows were a bit hard. Choice of a softer one would have been good.
Location Lovely pub restaurant and food
The room was not very clean and dated
Good room. Great location. Staff so helpful who went above and beyond. Thank you.
The De Trafford is located on the high street in Alderley Edge making it a convenient hub for restaurants and exploring nearby attractions. On arrival, you may admire one or two expensive cars parked up. Parking is free upon registration. Reception was efficiently helpful upon check-in. The bar staff were great to talk to and I'm sure there are some good choices of food and drink to be enjoyed.
For as long as I can remember, the De Trafford was meant to be the best pub and hotel in Alderley Edge. You would see many expensive cars parked up and assumed their presence was a healthy indicator of a thriving place to be. After some 35 years, I finally stayed here and sadly I was a bit underwhelmed. Burdened with bags, there is a lift, but it doesn't always work because people forget to shut the internal door so it cannot be summoned. Upstairs, the general decoration is a bit tired and the room furniture is basic. There is secondary glazing to reduce noise. There was no fridge or air-con in our particular room, just a fan without many sockets to plug it into anymore. A panel heater was askew. The shower hose needed a good clean. Other more expensive rooms might be different. In the bar-restaurant, our particular food choice wasn't the best quality but it sufficed on a hot day. We appreciated that our room was clean and therefore quite adequate but nothing exciting. That said I would stay here again with ordinary expectations.
Great location . Comfortable room . Friendly staff
Nothing
Superb location
Noisy.room over busy road.
The hotel was good value for the price & in the heart of Alderley Edge. Staff were very friendly & helpful.
Everything was good. And thank you for looking after my frozen food.
I was disappointed that the kitchen closed at 8.oo as I'd have liked dinner. Went to the fish and chip shop instead!
Rooms are old and very dirty the walls are covered in brown marks
Location
we arrived at the absolute peak of the heatwave so rooms were horribly hot but its an old building and to be expected. Staff were uniformly lovely and did all they could help us endure! Lovely breakfast too!
I think the sink plug hole might be full of hair and need to be cleaned, it drained very slowly!
In the village, close to other bars & restaurants. Nice beer terrace.
The staff were so friendly and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble for them. I’d particularly like to thank the Manager, Danny, for helping us to extend our stay; Helen for her kindness and sunny personality and Rae for going out of her way to recommend places for my daughter and I to eat and drink in Manchester city center.
The bedrooms were a little ‘tired’, otherwise everything was great!
Excellent size bed
Corridors needing decoration
Didn't have breakfast.
No faults. Everything was great.
The pub and restaurant are very nice, in keeping with the quaint look of the building from the outside.
The accommodation is extremely tired. It's difficult to give a balanced review when the ceiling wallpaper was peeling off, carpets a trip hazard, skirting boards chipped and marked beyond repair, paintwork looking like it had been done by a 5yr old and a bathroom full of mould in the silicone and water damaged warped doors at the bottom.
Good location in the village, staff pleasant and good food
Hotel could benefit from a bit of updating here and there. Eg. Lift, carpets and some decor.
staff is very good,, and the size of the bed is great.
cleanliness in the room especially behind the curtains was not good. The carpets are very dirty and the bathroom mirror looks like it's been there for over 70 years. Very rundown. And please please you need to get mixer taps the water is Scalding hot.
Location
My room small shower poor, also electrical socket is not right plugged fan in and it kept cutting out then realised plug was very loose inside socket not safe needs replacing
