The Kandy House ~ Exclusive Villa

Charming old style house, set back from the hustle and touristic parts of the city. The view is simply stunning, with lots of birds and monkeys visiting. There were some leaks because of the monkeys jumping on the roof but that was not a problem at all. The hosts kumari and kushan are very responsive to requests and helpful with information. Kushan helped us book taxis and kumari was very prompt in cleaning the pool. One evening the monkeys came and had a good swim, it was so much fun watching them have a wonderful time! Kumari came over to clean the pool the next day post monkey ablutions, and my parents got to enjoy some time relaxing in the water. Maduka who lives next door has a tuktuk which was very convenient. He and his friend Mujeeb took us around sightseeing and were very helpful with information and recommendations. Bonus was Maduka's little dog who would trot up to greet us when we came or left from the house 💜 Overall we had a good time.

The description was misleading - it said 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Actually the main house has 2 bedrooms, with a couple of beds at the ground floor entrance of the house that was the third 'bedroom'. Only one bathroom in the main house. The other bedroom and bathroom are in a cottage set apart from the house, we had to ask for access to the second bathroom as we were a family of four adults, and sharing a single bathroom was simply not possible. The second bathroom is difficult to access at night. The pool is a small plunge pool, that's mentioned only in the fine print. Was initially disappointing but we made the most of it and spent time in the pool. While the place was generally clean, there were cobwebs in the crockery cupboards and chipped and stained plates and bowls. We understand maintaining a house like this is hard(er) in the monsoon. The host tried to stay overnight in the cottage the night before we were to leave. We would have preferred to be asked first if the host could be in the cottage overnight because of limited transport over Sunday and Poya holiday. She understood our concerns and need for privacy and didn't stay over, finally. Both Kushan and Kumari are warm and helpful and our overall experience was a good one. We appreciated the prompt responses and suggestions. I'd be happy to book here again but would ask specific questions or make requests in advance.

Ein unglaublich großes, ursprüngliches Haus mit toller Architektur, offenem Konzept und wunderschöner Aussicht ins Tal. Besonders schön war die Atmosphäre am Morgen mit Vogelgezwitscher und angenehmen Temperaturen – sehr natürlich und dennoch großzügig und komfortabel. Es war ein perfekter Start in die Reise.

Der Pool ist eher klein und eher wie eine Sitzwanne zu sehen. Die Lage ist recht abgelegen, sodass man für Besichtigungen wie den Zahntempel ein Tuk Tuk benötigt.

This house is exquisite. The views are stunning. We absolutely loved our stay here which was very relaxing and peaceful. It as also easy to explore the sites of Kandy including botanical gardens, Kandy lake and cultural show within easy tuk tuk rides. Kushan is super friendly and helped us source everything we needed to make our stay comfortable.

The pool is small but we still loved spending time here and managed to fit my 3 boys without any issues. The surrounding nature and views are so wonderful the size really doesn’t matter! It’s a little difficult to reach and locate initially, however we were prepared for this and it actually adds to the properties charm as it is secluded and quiet.

Med husets lidt afsidige beliggenhed på en bjergskråning, får man en skøn udsigt over området, og tilpas væk fra byens hektiske larm og aktiviteter. Huset har gode rum, både når det gælder opholdsrum og værelser. Og balkonen er et kæmpe plus, hvor man kan sidde og fordybe sig i den skønne udsigt. Grillen som var til rådighed, er ret perfekt at have ved hånden.

Huset har ikke aircondition, men i stedet ventilatorer. Man skal være indstillet på, at her kommer man til et hus, som sikkert er "rigtig" srilankansk med vinduer som ikke har tætsluttende glas, og at der er sprækker under taget og om døre, som gør, at smådyr fra det lokale dyreliv nemt bydes indenfor og lever sammen med dig. Charmerende, men også noget man måske skal vænne sig til, hvis man ikke er vant til dette allerede.

Great view. Comfortable beds and very friendly Staff

The house was not very clean. We even found cockroaches. The Staff Really apologized and explained that it is because it is the Middle of nature. Apology accepted but still did not fully meet our expectations

Wonderful place to stay with a family or group. Views are great.

Everything you need

Beautiful holiday home. Incredible view. Helpful hosts. Walkable to groceries/ restaurants/ the city if you prefer to walk over Tuk Tuk.

We had a wonderful stay at the villa. It met all our expectations and the team was very helpful and nice. The house is big, full of light, has everything you might need to cook, do your laundry and so on. The area is very beautiful, it was a real pleasure just to look outside the windows. Our big thanks to Kumari and Kushan for being there for us and helping us with everything we needed.

The view was absolutely stunning! A little out of town and away from the city noise. Lots of birds and squirrels to see and hear. Kushan was very friendly and helpful and with a short tuk tuk ride with Janaka we got to see everything that we wanted to in Kandy City. Would recommend! Thank you for the lovely stay :)

Rather difficult to get to the villa. Pool is very very small.

Great view from the terrace, house is surrounded by variety of plants, responsive host ,good breakfast prepared by local cook ,clean sheets.

Difficult to find and get there. Only small car or tuk tuk will manage this,so we have to carry all lugges 7min which was unconvinient - mind this if you have limited mobility. Water preassure very low, additional bathroom upstairs will be helpful, pool was super small like 2x3m ,Pictures are made to Look bigger:)
