Lovely spacious suite apartment. Had coffee and tea making facilities. Small functional kitchen. Close to nearby local attractions. Also enjoyed food at Lymedale Bar & Grill. Perfect for us visiting family nearby.
Could have done with a bedside light in the larger room. This is a tiny negative compared to how lovely the apartment was.
Very clean room, good shower and comfortable bed
The outside appearance of the property could do with a face lift

Quiet location very nice
It was clean, comfortable rooms. Easy to find. Brilliant parking space. Staff were tremendous.
The only negative would be it looks unloved from the outward appearance. But it’s deceiving as once inside it’s lovely!
Easy check in spotlessly clean Room nicely furnished with kitchenette equipped with 2 ring hot plate fridge and microwave pan and frying pan provided. Tea towel washing up liquid and scourer pad its all there. Usual tea and coffee milk pods and sugar. They have thought of everything. Bed had crisp white sheets and was very comfortable. To be pedantic the TV could be bigger, but maybe thats my failing eyesight's fault not the TV's hhhh The Lymedale Bar and Dine attached to the same building is a nice place to meet up the food is gorgeous and they can pack some of the varied menu "To Go" if preferred.
There's nothing not to like.
Well appointed suite, great little kitchenette. Ensuite was fine.
Not so much didn't like but "the boss" is picky with matresses where her back is concerned. Not fantastic but I was absolutely fine.
Look after people very well!
Everything
Nothing
Clean self contained room with kitchenette. Hotel had car parking and a restaurant / bar. Ideal for me to use as a base to visit the surrounding area. Friendly staff when they were there.
The hotel has an early check in cutoff at 6 pm. It was "be there before then or you don't get in." The hotel seems to be unattended outside of normal office hours. It appeared to be largely unattended over the Easter weekend, although I was out during the day, so someone may have been there when I wasn't. They certainly weren't there after the advertised office open hours and before the advertised office closed hours. The hotel is situated in the suburbs. There's not much around within walking distance if you want to eat somewhere else or the restaurant is closed, ie, Sunday night and Monday.
It was cheap and cheerful. Good for workers
No bath
Lovely room, good amount of space. The kitchenette fits a fridge, 2 ring hob, microwave and sink into a small neat space. The refurbished room was pristine, the bed comfy. We stayed here in an emergency as our boiler had broken down and we needed to escape our very cold house. Our room was warm and we were able to have a hot shower and a comfortable night, and a hot meal at the Lymedale Bar and Restaurant next door.
The entrance could do with a coat of paint to make a better first impression. Walls between rooms are thin.
Clean, warm and spacious.
No breakfast
The Check-in was hassle free and very welcoming. The room was brilliant, very clean with everything you need for your stay, there is a welcome folder in the room with everything you need to know.
Having two rooms as one apartment gave our teenage son some privacy. The beds were comfortable enough for a hotel and having the kitchenette was useful, especially the utensils.
The TV in the smaller room didn't receive any signal so we all ended up in one room with inadequate seating for 4 of us (we were visiting our daughter at uni), there was no specific seating area to eat together, just a sort of breakfast bar in the larger room. Some visitors didn't seem to recognise that the walls from the corridor were quite thin and having a loud discussion out there at 5 in the morning is thoughtless
Always a great nights sleep not only that, having cooking facilities is just a lifesaver, great location to go to Alton towers
Nothing not to like here
All was ok
The microwave had some stain or rust in it can't really place what it was.
Clean, kitchen did what I needed. Enough room for me to store my provisions. I was there for a week, so a shelf above the sink would have been handy, but I guess I probably cooked more than most (every day). It was good to have a large desk, that was very useful. Although it was near a busy road, there was only one night where it was a little noisy. The rest were fine.
Nice to enter a warm room, however it was sweltering! Thermostat set at 5, could good for about 30C! Had all the windows open for a couple of nights to cool down. Save some energy and set it to 2-3 which should be about 20C. Warm enough for most people, and can be heated or cooled easily, AND saving you a lot of energy. Turning the dial to 5 does not get the room warm any faster. Couple of coat hooks would be nice, and maybe a towel or tea towel hook in the kitchen area.
Roomy, warm, good facilities, friendly staff
Not obvious as to arrival at correct location
Convenient, comfortable and clean.
The restaurant/closed earlier than expected.
Very good
Very, very good
Went above and beyond. Given an upgrade Room very comfortable
Price, cleanliness and comfort of room, kitchenette was useful
Traffic noise which unfortunately lymedale cannot control
Very reasonable, great facilities and great comms.
Good facilities, large rooms, good value
Hotel on a very noisey main road
Clean and quiet
Nothing, it was a nice stay
Service was great, very welcoming and helpful, everything was clean and today. Very comfortable bed and excellent shower
Nothing
24 hrs check in, friendly staff, good car parking facilities
A mini fridge would have been ideal The toilet flush didn't work very well, bath room sink fills up and takes time to drain slowly. Informed this to reception.
its quiet and the place is near where I work. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will definitely be booking again.
Everything was very good from the room size, little kitchen to the king size bed. Dont worry about the outside pictures certainly makes up inside
nothing
Polite staff and comfy room
Would of been nice if restaurant did breakfast as advertised in brochure
The friendliest and most welcoming
Nothing
Accommodation was clean and easily accessible. Its basic and does the job for a quick stay.
Was not sure if the car park was safe in the night, after 6pm there is no staff or anyone if you have questions. For a first timer it seems secluded. Lights are on motion sensor so initially one enters in the dark walking through narrow corridors.
the bathroom and bedroom was clean and comfortable.
nothing it was just suitable for my needs
Very clean Security was high
No toaster No bowl for microwave Parking was a little uncertain Location not so good
Rooms are great everything you need
No curtains only blinds which didn’t keep the light out and the bed springs were sticking out
The room was spacious and well stocked on facilities. I've never had a room with my own hob and fridge before so it was ideal to cook my own dinner and relax on the sofa with red wine. The bar and restaurant was warm and had a great selection of beers. Will definitely stay here again.
Possibly a little far out of the way but I walked to and from the local Morrisons in about a half hour so it wasn't really an issue. Just writing something here to fill the space.
This is my 4th time staying at Lymedale and it was exactly as expected. The room are basic/no frills but they are clean and tidy. Good shower, small kitchen area with fridge, kettle, microwave and sink and the room I had also had a desk, sofa, tv and a breakfast bar with 2 stools. Sandra (reception) is always very friendly and calls a few days before your stay to answer any questions etc. Will always stay here whenever I'm visiting this area. The reception is not manned at night but you require a key card to enter the building, again for the hallway to rooms and then again for your actual room so you do feel safe and secure. There is an Asda local small store within walking distance and a large Sainsburys a few minutes drive away. There is also free onsite parking at the apartments.
I cannot praise this place enough. The communication via booking was excellent. Arriving to be greeted by a lady who guessed my name from my booking was just another level! Thankyou. Accommodation was impeccably clean and well fitted for our needs. The bar/restaurant also followed the same happy pattern. Such lovely, attentive staff, and the food was great. I now want my daughter to choose Keele university so that I can book more stays with you. Thankyou again.
Honestly, the road noise could be a problem to light sleeping people. I was fine personally , however the arseholes down the corridor banging on their doors and arguing really boiled my piss! 6.30am isn't a time for loud music, let alone the Carpenter's greatest hits....which is what we got! I've drove home to Sheffield feeling that had I.been staying alone I would've leathered the pair of pikeys, however that would have ruined our trip for my daughter. This is in no way reflected upon the establishment. We left before I could have conveyed my issue to them.
It was clean but basic. Having said that- it was reasonably priced so no problem.
The reception closed for check in at 6pm and so guests have to arrive before 6pm. This is extremely unusual and inconvenient. Very very restrictive and inconvenient to force guests to arrive by 6pm in this day and age! No flexibility with timings which is really a pain! There should be more flexibility due to many factors- for example, guests may be travelling in and have delayed journeys!
Clean, comfortable and well equipped.
We didn't know what to expect having seen some poor reviews, but we need not have worried. The place was very clean included bed linen. The room was well equipped with a large comfortable double bed. We can't fault anything except for a loose tap fitting in the kitchen. The room was warm - if anything too warm even though there was no heating on. The staff and owner we met were very friendly and helpful. The room faced the main road so there was some traffic noise but that was to be expected given the location. It died down in the evening. Although there was a kitchen for self catering we ate at the restaurant on site. The food was very good and great value. We would definitely stay again - it is exceptional value.
Nothing
Loads of space and a good room for the price. Pleasantly surprised.
The surrounding area is shabby. Derelict buildings and even a burnt out shed very close by but can't fault the hotel for that
Beds were absolutely terrible
Perfect location
Perfect apartment room with basic but good facilities. Secure and modern. Sandra, the manager, was a pleasure to deal with and made sure the bicycles we arrived on were stored safely. The added bonus of a really good, but affordable. restaurant putt the icing on the cake. Would definitely use again.
Nothing in particular
Welcoming lady on reception. Value for money. Clean and well equipped kitchen. Taxi into Newcastle between £5 and £10 depending on the time. Great free parking. Good base for exploring the local area.
Not a very attractive looking hotel.
Can't complain really.
Only 1 problem, we were in the room (41) next to the rear exit/entrance and when people opened and closed the door it closes on a spring mechanism and the mechanism is too strong which causes the door to slam shut rattling our room wall and making a banging noise as it shuts.
The room had everything you could need in it including a fridge with small freezer, microwave and hobs, and crockery, cutlery and glassware. There were numerous supermarkets nearby (within walking distance) and the pub located on site served good food and drinks. The room had a very informative folder with all information you could need. The shower was hot and powerful. The member of staff I spoke to on the phone and at the front desk was very informative, friendly and helpful.
The limited check in time (you had to be there by 6pm or didn't get in) meaning we had to change our travel plans to get there on time. Due to the location being beside a busy road, there was constant traffic noise.
Spacious room Clean Great staff
Nothing
Great room lovely lady on check in and a great meal at the restaurant
nothing
Great stay as always!
Nothing
Manager and staff can't fault at all, place a little dated but spacious amd clean
Noisy neighbour's but happens
No chance to check in after 6. I called informing about I’ll be late but there was no provision and hence I had to find a different place
The rigidness with check in time
Nothing
Very bad attitude cancelled my next trip to go there they cancelled it absolutely disgusting
Clean, spacious and well-appointed room. Friendly staff. Close to shops. Would visit again when in the area.
This really is a place of two halves. Internally the room, its size, its facilities, cleanliness, comfort, and standard is tending towards excellent - certainly very good for the price paid. Easily as good as Premier Inns. This is ideal accommodation for a short stay, good price, no frills, good location, shops and supermarkets nearby. Entirely self catering, although there is an evening meal place which we did not use. Lots of space on car park. Its a pity that on arrival you can't just close your eyes and not open them until you get inside the room ! The car park on a Saturday night in June was almost empty - indicating very low occupancy.
Whilst the internal standard of the room, and its facilities, are excellent - its a pity the same can't be said for anything to do with the building - its exterior, the immediate surroundings. This is a very tired looking building complex - that has clearly seen better days since its Thomas Foreshaw hotel days back in the 1980's and 1990's. All aspects of the building, both external and internal corridors, are shabby and very neglected and run down. The surrounding paths, car park, other unused buildings are dirty, overgrown and shabby. Don't look out of the windows as there is nothing good to see. Vertical blind on window did not provide any early morning darkness for a June stay. Alex Polizzi would have a field day trying to improve this places exernal image. She would be more than happy with the rooms..
Very disappointing and stressful night , because your accommodation was cancelled due to late arrive
Very Rude staff. Not want to welcome me , probably about my ethnicity. Reception closed at 6pm. due to the incident of train delay we reached 19:30. Door was shut and they didn't even contacted me to check where I am. I have send them massages about the train incident,. try to contact them through phone but no one was answering the call. A night watcher was available to speak ,who contacted the manager to accommodate us, but refused entry and cancelled my accommodation. I was ended up in the street with family and wasn't sure what to do. My trip was a nightmare. I do understand the check in policy , but they could do bit more to support people getting some kind of situation like this. We don't want to remember this tragedy any more
Bed was very comfortable.
The high counter and bar stools, prefer a table and chairs. The doors bang loudly when closing automatically.
