Wonderful and spacious Hanok with a great host and close to two subway stations
Nothing negative to report

Four of us had wonderful time at Sihwadang. It was very close to dongmyo flea market and subway station. The house was extremely quiet and comfortable. I highly recommend to stay sihwadang a week at least to explore. We stayed only 4 nights, which was humanly impossible to visit all dynamic sites in Seoul. Many thanks to Mrs. shin, who was very kind to us.

The place is magical! The neighborhood is fool of workshops and pretty chaotic so getting to this place is like entering another world. It is silent, super clean. But the biggest value of this place is the host: friendly, helpful with great hits about the neighborhood. Such a service you will not get in any hotel!
Nothing major to claim about.
Everything about this accomodation is wonderful! Warm welcome by the hosts makes the whole experience complete.
It is a rustic but beautiful traditional Hanok close to the textile section of Seoul. Don’t expect the sterile hotel experience. It’s more of a wonderful experience!!.It’s walkable to the stream, the fashion district to many affordable markets and restaurants! It was so comfortable! The highlight besides its beauty is the owner Mrs. Shin!!! She greeted us the first day and stayed in touch throughout our stay! What was beyond belief and kindness was that she came all the way to our next hotel, to drop off items we had left behind. We leave with very fond memories!! Thank you Mrs. Shin!
The drop off a bit tight for the drivers.
Rewelacyjny domek w koreańskim stylu. Blisko metro i przystanki autobusowe. Dużo sklepów i knajpek w okolicy. Wszędzie blisko a w lokalizacji domu cicho i spokojnie.

What an amazing host. We stayed 8 nights in this beautiful, well maintained home away from home. Everything has been thought out whilst keeping the hanok traditional. Great appliances, but what makes your stay unforgettable is the host. She is one of the most kind-hearted, caring people we have met.
Nil, nothing.
It’s such a beautiful place in an unexpected location! The Dongmyo flea market is really nearby and the area itself has mostly been converted to businesses, but the hanok was like a little haven in the middle of all of that. The house itself is very well maintained and our very kind host Mrs. Shin provided all the amenities we needed.
Nothing! Everything was good.

The host was very helpful. It is authentic Korean stay. It was a traditional style room. Soul was very cold but the room was very warm and cozy. I would definitely stay and highly recommend it. The area also has flea market on the weekend
There was nothing I did not like
Do host!
Tutto assolutamente positivo!
Lovely house . Renovated. Thank you.
Compared to other similar places we have stayed or felt quite expensive for what we got. It’s a beautiful place but the rest is very basic .

Great welcome with a lot of information
Nothing !
1.It’s traditional Korean style house with beautiful and shining garden space. 2. The house and rooms are clean and bright. 3. The host and hostess were very hospitable and gracious.

Very kind host, beautiful house, well equipped with all necessities and a very clean house.
The location was great and it was a traditional Hanok as promised. The host was so lovely and kind. She brought us to the local convenience store to buy our T cards and to a local fried chicken restaurant where she ordered for us before leaving us. Most people do not speak English in South Korea so google translate is vital.
Not suitable for people with mobility needs. Sleeping on the floor is not for everyone so be aware of this. It does not appear on Naver maps so put in The N Hotel which is on the corner if you are booking an Uber or transfer from the airport.
Very traditional Seoul house with beautiful garden.
Kitchen is a bit small but not issue for us as we did not cook during our stay
Beautiful, traditional Hanok, with great living space for our family. Exceptionally kind and generous host and we appreciated her help and assistance in all aspects of our stay. Highly recommend!
The property was on a back street in more of a market-style neighborhood.
The host Mrs Shin was wonderful. She communicated well despite not having a native grasp of English and her sincere thoughtfulness in checking us in and settling us down and showing us the rooms, switches etc cannot be understated. She even asked us about our plans and made great recommendations and planned a route for us. On a rainy day, she texted to remind us where umbrellas were. The location itself is fantastic because it is central to other attractions, and the house is beautiful and historical. It is right near a convenience store, a lot of great restaurants, a new leather themed dessert cafe bar Gach that we believe will be the next big thing, and in a historic leather and textile town. We even bought genuine leather belts just the street across from the house and the elderly folks that we met in Dongmyo are so sweet and friendly. This is not a touristic area at all, but one where you can really observe living. The facilities are not new but incredibly well-maintained, cosy, and all worked well. We really enjoyed sleeping with the mattresses and experiencing a slice of old-school, slow living. The courtyard is perfect for photos and has a lovely persimmon tree (the namesake of this house!) where we sat and enjoyed meals and conversations. If price was more affordable for us, we would have wanted to stay at least a week and not just two nights. If you manage to book this place, I think an open-hearted traveller type won’t regret it. It is a home away from home.
Nothing, it was all as described and better.
Very cool environment. Outdoor courtyard is a nice place to talk and relax.
Walls are thin so you hear everything. Hard to not disturb others when we woke up or slept at different times.
Everything was super interesting and great! Cozy, warm and all around amazing experience. Thank you for taking care of our family.
We liked everything. Do not expect a 5* villa in a trendy area, you will be disappointed. Open your mind to warm people and cozy places that allow you to experience the culture and respectfully touch real Korean artisan artifacts.
The hostel's madam was extremely kind and welcomed us warmly despite our late check-in. Thanks to her, we had a very good trip. It was a memorable trip to Korea. The area has a down-to-earth atmosphere, there are convenience stores and 24-hour restaurants nearby, and it's about a 7-minute walk from the station. It's perfect.
Beautiful property. True to the pictures and was exactly like what we had envisioned. The place, although vintage, was kept clean with modern appliances - air fryer, induction cooker, modern toilet bowl, heated flooring etc. Location was good also. And the response from the staff was also good - super responsive and helpful.
Nothing.
Nice traditional house
Location is a messy part of town
The house is spacious and really comfortable for the 3 of us. The owner was really kind, and we loved the mandarin oranges she left for us. The house is around 7 minutes' walk to Emart Hypermarket Cheongyecheon (which was really convenient for us to buy groceries). The area was really quiet at night. It was as if you were not in Seoul. It was easy to find the place from "동묘앞" station. It was also easy getting to Gwangjang Market and Jongmyo shrine by bus (I do think it would be possible to walk to both places, but it was too cold 🥶). We were really happy that we spent 2 nights here. On our last day, we got to see snowfall. Despite being a hanok, there's bidet at the toilet which was really convenient for us. I hope I can experience another season at this hanok.
My family and I really liked the open courtyard of the sihwadang. The space was really big even for 5 people + large luggages. The beds were comfortable and the amenities were complete. It was also close to accessible stations and the Dongmyo Flea Market which was really the best part. The owner was also very kind to meet us during check-in and help us with our bags. She gave us dried persimmons to try too! I could not find any fault in this place. It made our stay in Seoul very memorable and comfortable.
Unique experience, close proximity to attractions

The host greeted and picked us up from the drop off point on our arrival and let us check in early. She was very kind and enthusiastic in sharing activities we could do on our arrival and gave us a tour of the hanok. We enjoyed staying at the hanok, and were surprised that inside the hanok and the courtyard how peaceful it was as the accomodation is located right in the middle of many shops and businesses. The heating was very good - maybe a tad too good. But it was on this trip that we had the lowest recorded temperature and we were never cold once. The futon and blankets were very cozy and comfortable. At the end of our trip, they offered to look after our luggage until we were leaving for the airport and allowed us to check out a little bit later. She kindly walked us to the bus stop as well to send us off to airport. Overall, a great way to end our Korea trip. We won't forget your kindness and we can look back at our stay with you with fond memories of our trip.

A small oasis of cultural immersion in the heart of bustling Seoul. A peaceful and tranquil respite while soaking up the wonderful Hanok architecture and within easy public transportation to the sights and sites of Seoul. A wonderful experience!
Nil.
Stepping back in time - a beautiful house in the middle of a bustling market area. The property is peaceful with all the amenities you need. Make the most of sitting in the courtyard area in the evenings - a real bonus. The owner could not have been more helpful.
Nothing to dislike - only slight negative is taxis might find it difficult to locate so make sure you have instructions to hand !
The traditional Korean courtyard room is different from typical hotels, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in Korean traditional culture, as if we were in a Korean drama. The clean and tidy environment allows us to relax and enjoy the holiday to the fullest
If traditional Korean breakfast is included, it would be even more perfect.
I enjoyed my staying in this hanok hotel. It's located in the market and there are some little hotels around. It was easy to find the hotel. The owner is a very friendly and helpful Korean woman, who knows English quite enough to communicate. She showed me around the house and also offered some snacks and beer. The hanok itself is pretty charming. It has a bed on the floor with heating. In the bathroom there is a modern toilet and simple shower. The place was quite clean, and there was a hair dryer. No noise at the night. Nice location to go from to the City Wall.
The market can be pretty busy. The lock is only on the main gates. The heating will probably not be strong enough in the winter, but can't say for sure. In general, not much to complain about.
It gave our son and grandson the true feeling of living in a traditional Korean house.
Hard to get to when the street market is going on. Saturday and Sunday
Lovely korean style house and the host was absolutely the best. We felt very welcomed and taken care off. The station was close and it was a convenient location to go exploring the city. Small convenience store close by and a bigger market wasn't too far either. Definitely recommended to book!
near to MRT station
Very cosy, sweet and quiet place. Beds are korean style which is amazing and very special. It was around 0 degrees outside in winter, but beds were warm and we were sleeping good. Restroom is big and comfortable. Sitting outside in the evening and morning in the little enclosed garden, you would not know you were in the middle of Seoul.
I think it's my first 10/10 review. My friends and I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming traditional Korean house in Seoul for a week, and the experience exceeded our expectations in every possible way. From the warm ambiance to the incredible hospitality of our host, this stay became the highlight of our trip. Upon arriving, we were greeted by the incredibly kind and welcoming lady who served as our host. From the get-go, she went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Not only did she provide us with detailed tips on how to reach her place (which proved to be immensely helpful for both us and the taxi driver), but she also surprised us with an array of delightful sweets and thoughtful gifts that instantly set the tone for a wonderful stay. The traditional Korean house itself was a masterpiece of architecture, seamlessly blending the charm of the past with modern comfort. The interior was adorned with traditional furnishings, creating an authentic atmosphere that allowed us to immerse ourselves in Korean culture. There are two toilets available, one has only a toilet seat and a sink. Despite visiting in December, when temperatures in Seoul can drop to around 0 degrees Celsius, the traditional Korean house proved to be a cozy sanctuary. The efficient heating system kept us warm throughout our stay, allowing us to enjoy the traditional experience without any discomfort. One of the highlights of our stay was the convenient location of the house. A mere 8-minute walk led us to the metro station, providing easy access to all the major attractions in Seoul. This made our daily explorations hassle-free, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the vibrant city life while having a peaceful retreat to return to at the end of the day. What truly made our stay unforgettable was the genuine warmth and hospitality of our host.
If you are above 180cm of height - mind your head! That's absolutely normal and expected, just watch out as you'll need to bow quite often when changing rooms!
Caring and helpful host, good location, walkable distance to metro, excellent experience of traditional Korean house (Hanok). We will definitely come back😃
Nothing
House keeper is very nice, the house is very confortable and tidy we are very happy to have a pleasant experience.
-The host is very responsive and welcoming. She helped us carry our suitcases and served us a special Korean traditional dish -The facilities are complete (beyond my expectations). There are even a guitar and board games too! -Very clean and nice design. Really well-maintaned
Maybe, the blanket could be lighter (a little bit too heavy). But it is just a minor thing, this place and the service are still exceptional!
It was 100% traditional. It was so beautiful. The customer service was the best one I've ever had, the woman was very helpful and really nice, great communication. We had everything we needed in the house. It was a great experience. Also, the place is surrounded by convenience stores and restaurants!
The location is great. We were near the Dongmyo temple, and Dongmyo station Line 1&6. It is surrounded by locals and a very interesting flea market. Watching the locals live their day to day life and having the opportunity to stay in a traditional hanok made me feel honoured and warm. It is a gem. For people who only saw the hustling and bustling of Seoul, I think the people who runs this Hanok in Dongmyo will change their mind. And this hanok took us back in time. I had a lot of quiet thoughts sitting in the garden, watching the little wood crafts details around the house. I think the hosts must be very romantic and poetic people to be able to run the hanok this way. They welcomed us to the place and treated us with the biggest heart. My heart instantly felt the warmth here. When we checked out, our host walked us to our cab pick-up location, and watched us leave. He even helped me carry my luggage to the main street, worrying about our heavy luggage (completely our fault from getting out of control on shopping). We were also here during Autumn, the tangerine and persimmon season. Having persimmons under the persimmon tree in a hanok will stay in my memory of Seoul for a long long time from now on.
Everything was perfect. There's nothing we don't like.
It was a real traditional place. Very beautiful and the host is really taking care of the place. It’s great for friends, partner, family. For anything really. She prepared a lot of things for our staying, also great communication. Amazing place, if you have foreign friends or bf, I strongly recommend to try this place. Still close from the subway station, bus station, a lot of restaurants around. I would definitely pick this place again.
