Cleopatra Luxury Beach Resort Makadi Bay - Adults only vs Similar Hotels

Room quality below expected 5-star standard: outdated furniture, dated bedding, visible rust and aged bathroom fittings, but rooms are functional.

Rooms described as clean and satisfactory with daily housekeeping; no major complaints about room condition.

Some rooms were described as very old and outdated, leading to a lower score.

Mixed cleanliness: visible rust in bathroom fittings, aged shower curtain and overused towels reported, though rooms appeared generally maintained.

Consistently praised across multiple reviews: rooms, pools and the resort described as very clean.

The hotel was noted for being clean, but issues with the smoking areas impacted the overall cleanliness perception.

Very good location: large, pleasant beach with plenty of space and good setting; beach access and snorkel potential noted (though some entry points need maintenance).

Strong positive mentions: prime beachfront access, easy access to the sea and a great snorkeling spot.

The hotel is well-located near the sea, which was a positive aspect mentioned in several reviews.

Mixed service: guests report aggressive/overzealous security enforcement and a crowded lobby, but staff appear to manage busy areas; score slightly elevated to balance other lowered categories.

Mixed: several staff members (e.g., Marina, assistant manager, CEO) are repeatedly praised as helpful, but there are notable negatives — rude/annoying front-office sales behavior and an allegation of a receptionist soliciting USD 100 for early check-in.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay, providing good service.

Food quality concerns: buffet described as basic, repetitive and of limited freshness/variety; some items noted as low quality.

Generally good and varied buffet for many guests and specific praise for the Lebanese restaurant; however complaints include limited variety (e.g., lack of fruit) and buffet closing too early.

The food received generally positive reviews, especially in the context of the large number of guests.

Amenities limited/outdated: pool loungers and pool area show wear, several restaurants and evening pool bars closed or not operating as advertised.

Aquapark and multiple pools are highlights (aquapark called best in region), but guests note limited daytime animation, quiet pools with little music, and evening activities stopping early or being paid.

The amenities provided were satisfactory and included a heated pool and various services.

Perceived poor value: hotel marketed as 5-star feels misleading given closed facilities and maintenance issues; some resort positives exist but overall expectations not met.

Mixed perception: some guests extended stays and recommend the hotel, but issues like paid evening shows, limited food variety in places and reported solicitation for extra payment reduce perceived value.

The price seemed too high for the quality of the facilities according to some reviews.
