great breakfast with a damn good view of the coastline and sandy beach.
The empty fridge. A few drinks would have been great.

great breakfast with a damn good view of the coastline and sandy beach.
The empty fridge. A few drinks would have been great.
Multiple opportunities and avenues to rest relax and reset. Multiple beach pool and sun bathing options. Staff are exceptionally facilitative and catering to your every need.
Nothing at the resort was not likelable. Every resource exceeded my expectations
Le calme, la plage et ses baignoires
Rien
A fantastic place to stay. A bit pricey, but worth every penny. Views to die for. Jacuzzi tub on balcony.
We came a few minutes late for breakfast one morning - ( our fault got the times mixed up!) staff didn't accommodate us, which easily could have been done.
Location, view, private beach, friendly staff, nice apartment
Long waiting for orderings at breakfast
Spiaggia, mare e hotel!
La colazione a buffet scarsa è sempre identica perché vogliono tu ordini a pagamento. Cameriere non cortesi , servizio inadeguato.
.the beach is gorgeous. The clean personnel work very hard. The Spa massage was great we all got treatments and she was fantastic! The villa was very comfortable and the views were gorgeous.
The resort looks like at one point was a luxury small hotel but it has been neglected. Although the villas are gorgeous and very CLEAN..you can tell they have been run down and not maintained. There were many items that need to be updated..there were wall cracks in the bathroom that looked like they tried to repair, but you could still see. The sinks were awful. The kitchen counters inside. Were scratched .You could tell that they've been scratched and not properly maintained or taken care of . I would not expect to see any of this in a villa of this price range. ALSO to move down from the villa you always have to request someone to pick you up. Its can get quite slippery going down. We tried walking and I almost fell. The front desk staff is not on their A game. I had to call her several time to assist with pick up and a taxi. I have called to scheduled it an hour before and had to remind it twice. We were late to our reservations. Dont get me started on the restaurant staff! What a joke. One of them told us if we want a water we had to get up and go to the buffet to get it ourselves. The nerve. The next day we went for breakfast. And it took over forty five minutes. We got our food before we got our coffee. Total disaster. We complained to the general manager But he was not very helpful or apologetic and doesn't really acknowledge anything. And his presence is not much.Seen throughout the hotel..its a shame. Dont eat at this place ...its not worth it! Our coffee always came after we were done having breakfast. The resort is extremely boring. No activities at all. So unless you just want beach time...its not very fun and the price is high.
The location was fabulous. Set on hills on a beautiful sheltered bay with the most incredible views from the room. The furnishings were all very tasteful and the whole place felt calm and relaxed.
At times the service was incredibly slow and it seemed as if the staff just weren't that interested. Once they engaged they were lovely but it just took so long to get anything!
Breakfast was great, we loved everything about the resort. I highly recommend this resort
Everything was great
Bedrooms & Bathroom lacked shelving for items
Great breakfast. The hotel manager (Manish) was very welcoming and always available for any help needed. The staff were great and always made an effort to acknowledge us whenever we passed by. The room was left spotlessly clean every day, and the bed was very comfortable. The complex was safe and views were spectacular on a sunny day. The social meeting night with the staff and guests was very good. There is a lovely safe beach just below
The dinner menu was limited as it was the same every night. This could do a change at least every other day. Although the scenes were spectacular, the complex is built on a steep slope so you have to be careful when walking up/down towards your room if it is higher up and more so if its raining. They do also provide transport around the complex but this could take a little time to get to you.
The rooms were absolutely stunning with the best views in the world! The food at the wild Tamarind restaurant was consistently good, the best we had on the island.
We stayed there after our flight was cancelled and the hotel couldn’t have done more to make us welcome and help with travel
The rooms were well appointed
At times service was slow , but they always acknowledged the delay and apologized
Alles war einfach traumhaft schön!!
Nichts
The staff was excellent. Especially Nafona. She was a big help to me even before I arrived at Tamrind Hills. Along with Tonya, they made my experience fantastic.
Location absolutely fantastic
Nothing pure luxury

Rooms very spacious and well appointed . Great view and very private. Loved he private spa.
There are quite a few stairs. Not the best if you have limited mobility. Pool was nothing to write home about, but the beach makes up for it .
a fabulous beach resort with superb accommodation - we stayed in the 2 bedroom panorama suite and it was comfortable and views across the bay are stunning
could not complain about the property , the only downside is that there are few places to walk to other bars and restaurants so either taxi’s or stay on resort after dark
Good quality food at the Wild Tamarind Restaurant and amazing location. Great quiet beach. Amazing staff.
Coffee is not very good (big problem for me but generally minor). Would benefit from a cheaper snacks lunch/ beach menu
Everyhting was perfect. Would definitely recommend to people to choose Tamarind, easy decision!
Maybe if there were more options for lunch/dinner, as there is only one restaurant.
So many good things to say about our experience at Tamarind Hills Resort. Beautifully situated on the beach with amazing views in all directions. Excellent accommodations. Impeccable service. Food and beverages were delicious. Everyone at the resort was friendly, kind, and helpful. Activities if you want recreation and plentiful space to relax and be mindful. If you’re planning to visit Antigua, this is your place to stay.
We stayed here in a Panoramic Room and had a blast. The staff was friendly, the service was good, and the view was great. The only complaint we had was the private pool was fairly cold, but we still used it at least 1 time day so we can't complain too much! Highly recommend!
It is hard to put into words how perfect our stay was. This was a mother daughter trip that ended at Tamarind Hills. We have stayed in many a hotel in Antigua over the years and this was by far the best. Our stay was 3 nights and we left wanting more. The breakfast is lovely, and the hot food is freshly prepared rather than a buffet style. This was lovely and I recommend the Antiguan breakfast. It is situated on one of my favourite beaches in Antigua and the views are unmatched, we enjoyed these each day at breakfast. The beach is then just a few steps away. The room we stayed in is something dreams are made of. Big, airy and beautifully clean and well maintained. I was particularly impressed with the kitchenette specifically the fridge with a freezer which worked so quickly. This meant we could enjoy ice in our cold drinks at all times on our balcony, we could also put ice in our complimentary drinks bottles to keep them cold when going out. We ate in the restaurant only one evening and the food was lovely. The only complaint i would have is that the seafood mac and cheese had in no seafood. On asking it was explained to me that it was cooked in a seafood broth. This could have been clearer in the menu which i mentioned to the server but the food was still delicious. They had a steel band playing Caribbean and other popular classics and they were amazing. The resort is easy to navigate and also we were able to drive our car right to the door which was very convenient. There are also buggies on site i assume they can help with this as well for the villas higher up. It would be unfair to begin mentioning staff by name as I won't remember absolutely everyone but they were the most respectful, friendly and accommodating you could hope to come across. We felt welcomed immediately, and did not wan't to leave when our time was up.
EVERYTHING about Tamarind Hills was AMAZING! Room, Staff, Service & did I mention the ROOM. Beautiful Beach & close to a Grocery Store. Will definitely stay here again.
Wonderful resort, staff are very welcoming and friendly would literally accommodate you, the food was 10/10 , loved the drinks too. The beach was amazing especially in low season as there was no need to rush for a sun lounger ! Transport was easy too , the reception would book it for no issues, I had a great stay, thank you!
My girl and I recently returned from a stay at Tamarind Hills Resort, and words simply fall short of describing the perfection we experienced. It exceeded every expectation from start to finish. Our great stay started even before we set foot at the property, A member of the Tamarind Hills team named Nafuna got in touch via email and provided us with all the pre-arrival info needed and services available during our stay. She went above and beyond to make sure the perfect stage was set for my girl and I to celebrate our anniversary. From arrival to departure, the service was consistently exceptional. The on‑site concierge named Adriano helped us get familiarized with the property and location, making us really feel like we were staying at our home away from home. He was professional and friendly in every exchange, making sure we were having a great stay and a good time in Antigua and at the Tamarind Hills. We also go to meet the property manager, a gentleman called Manish. He was a pleasure to talk to as well. He wanted to make sure our stay was flawless and memorable, This level of hospitality really made us feel welcomed and cherished. Our studio was simply magnificent—spacious, immaculately clean, and elegantly styled. Housekeeping visited twice daily, always with a friendly smile and impeccable attention. Tamarind Hills is a true 5-star gem—luxuriously intimate, extraordinarily maintained, flawlessly serviced, and full of thoughtful extras. Highly recommend it.

From the sweeping Caribbean vistas at sunset to the gentle hum of attentive staff, this stay became one of our most cherished getaways ever. We can't wait to return.
Staff especially the to young men who met us on the front desk were very hepful and welcoming. The rooms were beautifully furnished and clean. There were a great deal of free accessories. The chef created vegan options for me. The manager was so hands on, smiley and kind. We have been there 2 times already and it just keeps getting better. We didn't want leave!!
Our large room was absolutely beautiful with a stunning view of the ocean. Just a prefect place to relax. The interior design was definitely well thought through and just implacable down to the smallest details. I had to look up who was behind the design of this resort and came across the work of Lane Pettigrew (The LPA Architects). So, shout out to Lane... Definitely well done!
My wife and I booked a week at Tamarind mid Aug 2025. It was slow season but they upgraded us to Ocean view Studio which was excellent. The resort is nestled in a hillside. Pros: Super friendly and helpful staff, clean, comfortable bed, air conditioning worked excellent, nice kitchen with small fridge, stove top, sink. They provide 2.5 gallon jugs of water (great convenience). Bathroom was large with twin sinks, walk in shower and seperate tub. Private hot tub on balcony was awesome. Staff always offering to change sheets and towels. Resort sits on Ffryes Beach which is a small beautiful beach, no sargassum issues. There is also a large elevated boardwalk to Darkwood Beach on the other side of the hill. Beach is always raked in the morning and a good amount of lounge chairs, umbrellas and couches available at no extra cost. Black tile pool very nice as well. Our rental included breakfast which was great with nice selection omelets, bacon, pastries, yogurt, granola and some fruit. We did not eat lunch but the menu looked good. Dinner was very good with the chicken & shrimp curry outstanding. Would have preferred more dinner options though like simple fish & chips or burgers. Overall loved Tamarind Hills resort Cons: Its built into a hillside so no elevators and LOTS of steps. Our studio was not at the top of the resort and from our room to beach was 72 steps (different levels though). Got great workout but if you have joint, hip, knee issues or not in moderate shape it would be an issue. I'm sure the resort would offer a golf cart ride as they are very accommodating but not sure that is a fix. A con but not of the resort is transportation. There is no Uber and taxi's are pricey so you need to negotiate & compare. About $50 from Airport and $60 roundtrip (negotiated) from Tamarind to St John's (port city). That said I live and drive in metro NY city area and I'm glad I did not rent a car. They are UK style cars on other side of the road and I have never seen so many cars on a small caribbean island as I did on Antigua. Cars are everywhere and roads are narrow and terrible. Parking at beaches is ok to poor and everywhere else I dont know where you would park.
From the moment my fiancé and I arrived at Tamarind Hills Resort, we knew we had found paradise. Tucked along Antigua’s stunning west coast, this boutique haven is surrounded by lush greenery and sweeping ocean views. Even the meandering pathways leading to the hotel reception hinted at the beauty that lay ahead. We actually entered through the exit by mistake and it was just as breathtaking as the main entrance! As we wandered in, we caught glimpses of the most dazzling jewel-blue waters and were instantly wowed by the vibrant tropical landscape all around us. Manish, the General Manager, and his stellar team welcomed us with such warmth that we immediately felt at home. We were greeted with open arms and escorted to our oceanview suite, our new home for the next several weeks. Our suite opened up to panoramic sea views, with an oversized terrace and jacuzzi perfect for a romantic soak, offering a bird’s-eye vantage point to take in all of Ffryes Beach in its full glory. On especially clear days, we could even spot Montserrat and St. Kitts on the horizon. Each suite felt like a private pavilion; ours even had its own driveway, which was ideal for our long-term stay with a rental car. Our suite was perfect for the two of us; even the entry-level options feature a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy living area, and a full modern armoire for each guest, all with contemporary luxury in mind. Thoughtful high end touches like Molton Brown products and evening turndown service elevated the experience even further. We especially appreciated the complimentary water jugs in the room, which were replaced promptly whenever we asked. A rare treat in a world where even water often comes at a price. In keeping with their eco-luxury focus, the hotel also gifts guests stainless steel insulated tumblers and provides sleek high-tech water stations around the property so you can refill to your heart’s content. The true centerpiece, though, was the view. Waking up to endless blue framed by floor-to-ceiling glass never got old. My favorite ritual was starting the day with a refreshing Molton Brown-scented shower while gazing out at waters that shifted between turquoise and sapphire. Nearly every angle of the suite revealed piercing blue seas. One of the highlights of our mornings was the expansive terrace bar that stretched across the entire restaurant, serving up hearty favorites alongside a view that honestly stole the show. In all of my travels, I’ve never seen a set-up quite like this. The view was the main event complete with what felt like a built-in bird watching experience. Literally tropical birds singing around us. Breakfast options ranged from a light continental spread for those eager to hit the beach to tasty à la carte egg dishes and guilt-pleasure pancakes. Add to that the cheerful smiles from the waitstaff. And that view, just in case I haven’t said it enough, we could never get enough. Every day started in absolute bliss. The beach setup was equally thoughtful, with modern four-post canopy beds, straw-shaded loungers, and even cozy beach cocoons along the sand. But the true star was that water. We’re always chasing the clearest, most crystalline Tiffany blue waters, and this beach delivered. Zero seaweed, zero sargassum, just sparkling, liquid-crystal water, thanks to its prime location. We often felt like we had the beach to ourselves, with only a few others ever around. Our only companions at times were the adorable little denizens of the water that we could clearly see swimming at our feet. The hotel even has a hidden beach you can reach by crossing a charming bridge near the Terrace Restaurant. For those looking for extra shade and privacy, there are cozy little nooks perfect for reading. And right at the entrance, you’ll find fun sandy spots with sleek glass tubs, just right for a cooling dip. That first week, we could hardly pull ourselves away. Ffryes Beach is considered one of the best on the island, and it still exceeded our expectations. One of the highlights was David, our favorite beach attendant and waiter, whose cheerful spirit and encyclopedic knowledge of the island made every interaction a treat. The entire staff was warm and attentive, always ready to give us a lift back to our suite after a “tough” day of sun and sea (haha). Bankcroft, the hotel’s trusted veteran concierge of sorts, would happily give us lifts to our pavilion. There’s also a fun Moke jeep available and of course a shuttle to to transport guests comfortably to their suites. The food? Absolutely superb. Lunches by the beach were a treat, especially the jerk chicken wrap and extra-crispy spring rolls that quickly became our go-to favorites. And dinner at Wild Tamarind restaurant… wow. The falafel—carrot-infused and full of flavor was honestly the best we’ve ever had, thanks to Chef Simon, the resort’s creative genius in the kitchen. We found the menu to be rather eclectic featuring perfectly grilled meats, flavorful coconut curry chicken, inventive vegan options, and a decadent chocolate fondant that melted in our mouths, every evening felt like a new discovery. While the menu featured plenty of seafood dishes, I had to steer clear due to severe allergies. I was deeply grateful for how thoughtfully the staff handled this, ensuring no cross-contamination and allowing me to enjoy every meal worry-free. The evening entertainment was an unexpected delight. Fridays kicked off with a fun manager’s cocktail reception at the Terrace Bar, the perfect segue into our vacation. We loved hearing about the hotel and island happenings and getting to further chat with Manish, the GM, along with his incredible staff. Nafuna, who arranged our entire trip from start to finish, was a standout, and we also connected with Nicole, the head of Food and Beverage, whose warmth and extensive luxury hospitality experience, including time at Jumby Bay Resort was impressive. The cocktails were delicious, with my favorite being the Tamarind Rum Punch; I’ve now developed a serious obsession with tamarind-infused cocktails! Friday evenings featured a talented musician with an eclectic repertoire, while Saturdays came alive with the vibrant sounds of a steel band that had the whole restaurant vibing. Complimentary morning yoga sessions were offered throughout the week, and there’s also a gym for anyone wanting to keep up with workouts. For water lovers, the hotel offers plenty to dive into. My fiancé took full advantage of the kayaking, paddleboarding, and snorkeling, with Steven, the ever-helpful watersports attendant, making everything easy and fun. Just to the left of the property, where the two beaches connect, we discovered a fantastic snorkeling spot filled with flashes of vibrant colorful fish. Or, if you prefer, you can simply stretch out under the sun and let those impossibly vivid, endlessly inviting waters pull you in. The rest of our stay was devoted to exploring the “beach-a-day” magic in Antigua. With 365 beaches, one for every day of the year, the island offers long stretches of powdery white sand to secluded coves framed by dramatic cliffs. Each spot with its own character, and we made it our mission to experience as many as possible. Tamarind Hills proved to be our dream base for nearly three weeks of island-hopping bliss. It gave us the comfort of a luxurious retreat to return to after each adventure. We’d considered splitting our stay among a few of the boutique luxury hotels on the island, but after visiting some of the top contenders, we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. Tamarind Hills won us over completely us with its modern luxury, fresh newcomer status, and undeniably sexy, contemporary vibe. Of course, we couldn’t pass up on going to Antigua’s quieter sister, Barbuda. The island itself is tiny, with just 2,000 residents, and beaches so virgin, they seem unreal. None more breathtaking than Princess Diana Beach, where the sand occasionally blushes pink depending on the season. Back on Antigua, Shirley Heights is another can’t-miss spot. The panoramic views are otherworldly, and Sunday evenings at this historic lookout were unforgettable; live reggae, steel drums, smoky barbecue, and a sunset that lit up the sky. One thoughtful detail we appreciated was the hotel’s attentive security team, always noting when we left and returned. It was a small but meaningful gesture that made us feel both safe and cared for. Little touches like these, woven throughout our stay, left us thoroughly spoiled. At the heart of it all was Manish. Before booking, I had read glowing reviews about his impact, and I can now confirm they were all true. Having worked in the luxury travel industry for years, I was genuinely impressed by how hands-on he was, attending to even the smallest details. When my phone got wet, he personally brought me a bag of rice. More than once, he volunteered to shuttle us back to our suite himself, and he went out of his way to ensure my accommodations were stair-free due to my medical condition, something I deeply appreciated. His warmth, attentiveness, and kindness set the tone for our entire stay, and it was clear he leads by example. In the end, Tamarind Hills wasn’t just a stunning place to stay, it was an experience elevated by genuine care, thoughtful touches, and a team led by a true class act. Our time there was nothing short of extraordinary.
A beautiful resort with excellent service by the staff. Fryes beach is great and the quality of the food was good.
Wild tamarind best food
Tamarind Hills is just lovely! The resort is located on one of the most beautiful beaches! The water was calm and relaxing. Everyone who works at the hotel was kind and hospitable, and made our trip so enjoyable! Our room was outstanding with a beautiful view of the Caribbean sea! Everything was clean, stylish, and well-maintained. I highly recommend visiting Antigua and staying at Tamarind Hills!
The property is extremely beautiful. It’s perfect for relaxation & a private getaway. The room was extremely clean and so beautifully decorated. The restaurant food is delicious but a bit overpriced . Everything was perfect for me . I am only giving this a 4 star because of a interaction with a female security guard‼️ She was extremely rude and unhelpful & other guest had the same issue with her . Her name is Tracy , she is the main reason I wouldn’t return because I never want to encounter her again . Otherwise it was a beautiful stay .
Beautiful property and location with great staff! The breakfast package was worth it…enjoyed the Antigua Breakfast daily😋
The condos, property, and especially the beach/water are absolutely stunning! So tranquil and first rate! The service can be a tad slow but it’s island time. Every need was met and the help was extremely welcoming. It exceeded all expectations!
Such a stunning resort! We cannot wait to return. The entire property was amazing.
I really enjoyed my weekend stay. The beach and sunset view from the restaurant were out of this world. Very clean and the rooms are modern.
Tamarind Hill was exactly what my partner and I needed for a short getaway! From start to finish, they assisted with coordinating rental car options and great suggestions for dining. We will definitely consider the property again for future trips to Antigua!
Todo, el depto que teníamos era muy amplio, lujoso y cómodo . El servicio de limpieza 10/10.
Que no tenían kids club y la poca variedad de menú en el resto del Hotel
.
Beautiful property with Amazing staff
The property is beautiful and the staff were amazing to work with!
This resort is extremely beautiful, perfectly nestled on a coastline hillside. The resort is very well maintained with a variety of outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy the scenery, including a variety of lounging areas, beach cabanas and a coastline boardwalk! The staff are very courteous and the onsite manager is quite accommodating in ensuring ur stay is as comfortable as can be. We were also particularly impressed with the twice daily housekeeping! The rooms are well equipped and in addition to the amazing memories, we were delighted to bring home complimentary branded souvenirs provided by the resort as well. We visited in July and when booking our trip to Antigua we were worried about the beaches being overcrowded and had concerns about sargassum. The beach at this resort had NEITHER. We were able to get a beach cabana on all the days we visited the beach quite easily and the water was perfectly clear. Blue as far as you can see! I would 100% recommend a stay here once in Antigua!!

great location probably the best beach around
Everything about this Resort I would consider a five-star experience. The rooms are beautiful and very spacious. The views from our balcony was spectacular! The Crystal Blue Waters and the white sand beaches breathtaking. The hotel staff were very friendly and would greet us every time we pass by one of them.
This property is nestled in a serene, picturesque setting, offering the perfect escape for relaxation. An added bonus is that the resort also manages a collection of elegant private villas, ensuring a wide range of accommodations for every guest. All units are immaculately maintained, reflecting the resort’s high standards, and the exceptional, attentive staff made our stay even more memorable. We thoroughly enjoyed the pristine beach and the variety of exciting water sports included in our stay. The communal pool is equally charming and inviting, ideal for unwinding under the sun. Many of the villas also feature their own private pools, adding a luxurious touch for those seeking extra privacy. Overall, this is a highly recommended property for anyone looking for a beautiful, well-managed, and relaxing getaway.
There is very little not to love about this charming and well-maintained property. It’s important to note that the location is a bit secluded, as it sits outside of bustling St. John’s, which adds to its peaceful, private atmosphere, but does require some planning. For those who enjoy cooking, the villas are well-equipped, and it’s highly recommended to stock up on groceries, as the on-site restaurant, while delicious and beautifully presented, is on the pricey side. The friendly and attentive service at the restaurant certainly adds to the experience, making meals enjoyable despite the cost. There is also the option to order takeout through a convenient local app, though we found it to be a bit unreliable at times. Overall, the property offers a tranquil, upscale experience, perfect for those seeking both comfort and flexibility during their stay.
I rarely write reviews but I thought it was important to recap our experience. We just returned home at the end of June. While the photos are accurate, the hotel is beautiful, the service is definitely lacking. When we arrived we were told the residence we rented did not have working air, we had planned to stay In Ocean one. We spent time looking at all the 4 bedrooms to pick the best one to rent for our 6 night stay. We were given the choice to stay next door in Ocean 5. Also, very beautiful and with 4 bedrooms but did not have the amazing pool that ocean one had so this was somewhat disappointing. I felt we should have been offered something for the disappointment, spa treatment, anything, but this was never done. We rolled with it and enjoyed our beautiful place. The service is definitely lacking. I understand the concept of "island time" but it was ridiculous. We have been to Antigua before and Jamaica several times and I have never experienced service quite so bad. The food was very expensive, which we expected, but the service was shocking. We had to go to the bar many nights at the end of our meal to get our check. In the mornings when sitting down for breakfast we usually had to go to the buffet and get our own drinks and water. The best service we experienced was when we were at the beach. Also wanted to mention the fly situation is horrible. This maybe something out of their control, maybe the time of year, but it was often unpleasant. We went to another resort last August and did not have this issue. Lastly, don't expect much help from the concierge. We asked about dinners off property and were just given a list of a few restaurants we could contact to make a reservations, not what I would expect from this level of hotel. they would give suggestions about things we asked here and there but overall were not very helpful. To recap, the views are stunning and our accommodations were nice, however not what we were hoping for overall. This trip was waaaay too expensive for what it was.
I love this resort!! It’s my second time staying here and it just keeps getting better. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The rooms are spacious and the view is just amazing. Love it!
Absolutely beautiful. Can’t wait to visit again.
The Sunset Vista Suite was amazing. The views alone are worth it, not to mention the attentive staff. Ffryes beach is world class. The friendly staff always greats you with a smile. By far the most enjoyable Caribbean experience I’ve had.
Superb staff, very friendly and accommodating. Sunset Vista room was perfect. Great views and large rooms. Great for a family of four.
Rooms, restaurant was great and beach was paradise
Our Tamarind Resort stay was more than wonderful!! We stayed in a studio that had an amazing A+++++ view. The staff went above and beyond as far as hospitality!! The only thing I would recommend is an all-inclusive option. The food at the restaurant was delicious and we never had a bad meal. We will definitely be returning here for another stay in the future.
My stay at Tamarind Hills in Antigua was nothing short of phenomenal! This place is the ultimate vibe—super chilled and effortlessly luxurious. The location is absolutely amaze, nestled perfectly with jaw-dropping views of the turquoise Caribbean Sea and lush greenery that made every moment feel like a postcard. Waking up to those vistas was pure magic! A massive shoutout to Manish and the entire staff for making our trip unforgettable. Their warmth and friendliness were next-level, always greeting us with genuine smiles and going above and beyond to ensure we felt right at home. From seamless service to insider tips on exploring Antigua, they nailed it. Tamarind Hills is a gem, and we can’t wait to return! Highly recommend this slice of paradise.
We spent exceptional 5 days in Tamarind Hills. The resort views were stunning, the green hills, white sandy beaches and turquoise clear water. The room was very spacious and super clean. The hotel staff were extremely friendly, especially the restaurant team. The food was top quality, especially dinner, but a little too expensive. Thanks to all the hotel staff and operations manager for making our stay unforgettable!
My boyfriend and I visited Tamarind Hills Memorial Day weekend and had a wonderful stay. They are very focused on being ecological, which works to your benefit more than any resort I've been to. They keep a jug of water in your room with water bottles that you can bring to the beach. The staff was all very friendly, and Latoya and David brought us amazing pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris to the beach. The beach was stunning, with crystal-clear water and soft sand. There was live music at dinner almost every night. The only thing I wish was different was that I used some bug spray, but with the views you get there is nothing I would trade it for.
Where to even begin with how much we enjoyed this resort?! My husband and I just returned from celebrating my 50th birthday with a stay at Tamarind Hills. I wouldn't swear that I have never written a review on a hotel, but I am pretty sure this is the first time I have taken the time to write a review on a property. My only hesitation in writing this review is that I don't want this resort to get so popular we cannot visit again - ha! I would love to keep this gem all to myself. I just have to sing the praises though of this resort and their staff. From the manager Manish to each person we met along the way, we felt so welcomed and cared for as guests of the resort. It was such a treat. The staff graciously addressed us by name, met me regularly with birthday wishes, and even hand wrote birthday notes on a card that was delivered with a bottle of wine on my exact birthday. A darling, delicious cake and wine were already waiting for us on day one so receiving an additional treat on my actual birthday was such a fun surprise. In a digital age, it was so refreshing to have such personal touches. Upon arrival we were greeted with cold hand towels and a welcome drink. We were then shown around the property by Manish and then given all of the specifics on our particular room, down to which way to turn the hot water, by another lovely staff member. The rooms are truly as gorgeous and well appointed as they appear in the pictures. We had an ocean view studio suite with jacuzzi and it was perfect space for the two of us. The views, the beaches, oh my! I really could go on and on about this location as well. I can see why Ffryes Beach was recently voted 31st on the World’s 50 Best Beaches list. We were there as the Saharan dust cloud came through and even on the haziest day the water was crystal clear. You can walk from Tamarind Hills easily to so many spots, including Darkwood Beach, Little Fryes, Dennis's (although we were in off season so sadly did not get to do the Friday night party.), Sheer Rocks, and more. We love to snorkel and kayak and enjoyed the many options for water activities provided by the resort. We actually had planned to do more excursions off the resort, but we found ourselves so relaxed and with so many options on or near the resort that we rarely left. If you do decide to leave the resort we also highly recommend getting the resort to arrange for Get There Taxi Antigua as your drivers. The resort arranged our airport pick up with them for us and Liz and Craig were both amazing. They were experts on the area and we felt so safe with them in charge. We felt like Liz was a friend by the end of the trip. I could go on and on, but if you are considering a trip to Antigua put Tamarind Hills at the top of your list! We are already dreaming of a return trip with the rest of our family. The only tips I would add would be to be sure to travel with bug spray with deet. The staff has spray and graciously offered it to us, but this area just has mosquitos. Don't let that scare you off, just get some Off spray and spray your ankles each night near sunset. We are used to this at home and felt maybe more prepared than other travelers. The resort is addressing it so you don't feel totally uncomfortable, but the mosquitos here are inevitable and you just need to be prepared if you are not used to this. If you are not an early riser I would also maybe add a sleep mask to your suitcase. The curtains are lovely and quite sufficient, but if you are used to black out shades as we are you might want a sleep mask to sleep in a bit. Once you are up though be prepared for so many, many lovely days in this perfect spot. Soak up all the sun and happiness for us until we can return again!
This was probably my 5th time at this property and they get better every time. Excited for my next stay!
I would highly recommend this property. The property is beautiful. The rooms are awesome. Very up to date. They feel fresh, airy, and bright. We were in K35/36 and had an amazing view. We sat and sipped coffee for like 2 hours every morning it was so nice. Beach is beautiful. The food at the resort is tasty. I would also recommend a night off property at Fox House Restaurant. They come pick you up and it’s only like a 5-10 minute drive. You will not be disappointed at this property.
The room was spacious, pristine clean and well appointed. The food at the restaurant was excellent (if a tad pricey) and the staff were all delightful. The beach is absolutely stunning and the grounds of the hotel are great for relaxing in.
Nothing
This resort is perfect. All of the buildings are built into the side of a mountain overlooking the beach and water. The one bedroom studio we had was so spacious, cool design, with a beautiful balcony overlooking the beach/sea. The beach was gorgeous and we never had trouble finding chairs with an umbrella. And the resort is smartly designed so there are many seating areas off of the beach with beautiful views and quiet. Food was solid and staff amazing. Only caveat is that there are a lot of steps to get to your room/villa. There is a shuttle service if you cannot walk it but we never used it so not sure how fast it comes. Also the island in general is pretty large and other resorts/restaurants are far. With taxis being astronomically expensive, consider renting a car if you like to explore a bit.
Beautiful place to stay in Antigua! We had a one bedroom suite with hot tub that was perfect for us. Fantastic views of the ocean and mountains from 3 sets of siding doors. Our gorgeous room was cleaned every day and turn down service in the evening. The bed was extremely comfortable. Everyone was friendly and quick to accommodate. Loved it!
READ CAREFULLY! DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY. We traveled extensively for both work and family vacations, but our stay at Tamarind Hills in Antigua was by far the worst experience we’ve ever had. The main issue was the manager, ALFREDO DIEDRICH, who did nothing to address the numerous problems we faced. Our bathroom didn’t work properly, the shower flooded our room multiple times, and we had bugs in the room. Despite repeated requests for help, nothing was resolved. To make matters worse, a taxi driver arranged by the hotel harassed my daughter, and when we brought it to ALFREDO'S attention, he couldn’t have cared less. He was completely dismissive and showed no concern for our safety or comfort. This place was a disaster, and the lack of care and professionalism from ALFREDO made it even worse. I would never recommend this resort to anyone. Please note the dates and times the hotel staff and manager replied to our needs: **Text Conversations with the Front Desk:** - **2/18:** Checked into the hotel; advised to communicate via WhatsApp. - **2/19:** Notified front desk of clogged toilet and broken coffee machine; maintenance arrived on 2/21. - **2/20:** Requested drinking water and paper towels; did not receive them. Followed up on 2/21 and 2/23.Hotel was clear with us to not drink the water from the faucet. Our room had a tabletop water dispenser holding large jugs of filtered water tat can only be obtained by the hotel via WhatsApp. - **2/22:** Reported a flooded shower and hundreds of bugs in the room and the entry (see attached pics). - **2/23:** Received an apology text for the inconveniences; maintenance came on 2/24. - **2/24:** Hotel manager ALFREDO DIEDRICH finally contacted me on a day we booked a full day of sailing. I told him we could not meet nor was i taking the day away from my family vacation to speak. - **2/25:** ALFREDO requested to meet on checkout day the same time transportation that was arranged from the hotel was waiting to load our luggage in the taxi. Alfredo knew transportation was arranged by his staff and did not care if we missed our flight. I write this because he continues to state we did not want to meet with him. The facts are that we couldn't meet with him when it was best for him. . Additional issues: HARASSMENT - Rude taxi driver arranged by the hotel that harassed my daughter named Shane. Shane would not let us out of the car when we asked him to stop. Alfredo shared with us that he made a report with the local police and taxi commission about Shane. This report was requested multiple times from us, and I believe Amex. We still have not received it. - ALFREDO claimed I was happy with my stay because I paid in full; however, the deposit was charged before the trip, and the balance was settled at checkout. There was no way to stop him from charging our card. -You will notice i paid for all food and beverages. The service at the restaurant and pool was superb. I later learned the restaurant was managed by an outside 3rd party. This explained the difference in service from the way that Alfredo manages his staff and business, and the restaurant manager ran his business. **Summary:** Our stay was from Feb 18-25. Despite repeated requests, the issues were not resolved promptly. The manager reached out on the 23rd, too late to address the problems. He stated it was the first time he learned about the issues. Obviously, his staff either never informed him or he is lying. The facts are (all above). The hotel never replies to questions we ask requesting facts, and their responses never address the problem at hand. Please take notice of the pictures below where the manager ALFREDO DIEDRICH admits fault offering us a discount. The problem is ALFREDO DIEDRICH NEVER GAVE US THE DISCOUNT PROVING HIS INTEGRITY TO BE LIES once again. You will see the flooded shower and mass amount of bugs in the room along with ALFREDO DIEDRICH admitting he was only made aware of the problem from his staff on the 24th.
The resort was the rest I had earned, a serene escape. Nestled on the true star the island Antigua herself. The ocean view was the sight my soul needed. The peaceful ambiance, combined with splendid, sympathetic service ensured a a relaxing stay. Impeccably clean and sand-free, on top of all that, a truly delightful experience. Please go. For me, I'm going to sit back and let the memory wash over me.
Our stay was absolutely amazing. The views were outstanding. The beach and water was beautiful, we are usually pool people but the beach and ocean were so amazing we spent all day in the ocean. The service was fantastic as well.
Second time there and had the best vacation. The staff was very helpful with any accommodations we needed. The resort grounds are beautiful. Rooms are very clean and housekeeping comes twice a day! Will definitely be coming back.
Very nice smiling people. Very pleasant environment.
The property was nice but the service was sub-par. Unprofessional, eye-rolling, slow, not in line with a luxury resort TH claims to be.
The property was lush, gorgeous, and designed beautifully.
We only spent a few hours here for a late lunch and everything was perfection. The location is stunning and I REALLY wish I would have known about this place while planning our trip because I would have stayed here in a heartbeat. While we didn’t see the rooms, I can say that the beach, resturant and grounds were prestine. The hospitality was superb, food was delicious and we were so comfortable relaxing here. Everyone was so nice!!!! We were trying to avoid our resort as much as possible possible (that’s a whole other review) so daily our driver saved our vacation by taking us to all these magnificent locations.
The restaurant unfortunately lets down what is possibly the best beach in Antigua, and the really lovely villas. The breakfast was an absolute shambles. No one to take you to a table or give you menus or take your orders, so you’re forced to choose the $40 USD buffet each morning. The buffet is the same every day, with the same limited options. Carton juices too. Not what you’d expect from the high end they are trying to portray culinary wise. The one day we did opt for the a la carte breakfast, we were waiting almost 90 minutes. And with two young children, this was difficult. You can tell staff turnover is high and unfortunately the staff seem to lack direction - worrying about polishing glasses at peak breakfast time rather than stocking up the empty breakfast buffet. The lunch was just as hopeless. The two times we ate there for lunch, one person’s dish didn’t arrive until the rest of the table had finished. We had really wanted to love tamarind and make it a regular trip, but the restaurant service and quality/array of food has really let it down.
Staff was best part about this property and stay we like the workers
I just finished a family trip to Tamarind Hills. My family loved our trip here although we have some small critiques. This was one of the nicest (if not the nicest) rooms we’ve stayed in the Caribbean. We had a two-bedroom suite (the Panorama) up the hill. The beds were comfy, and we enjoyed the very large patio and small private pool. Housekeeping came around the same time every day for both the morning cleanup and turndown service and we had no complaints there. The hotel supplied us with unlimited jugs of water and two hotel water bottles that we could refill and take to the beach. We did not really use the full kitchen but the washer/dryer in our room came in handy. The room had an interesting setup with two mini couches on each side of the common area. I would have preferred something that allowed our family to sit closer together, but we weren’t in the rooms much. The bathrooms were modern although it didn’t have much room to place toiletries by the bathroom sink. It was a hike up a steep hill to get up to our room, but the hotel did offer shuttle service. We never used it since we are generally impatient, and we all thought the walk up the hill was good exercise. The beach is great with calm waters and soft sand. Although it is a public beach, we rarely were approached by vendors and it was very quiet. The hotel offered non-motorized water activities, and we took advantage by using the paddle boards and played volleyball. The chairs were rarely all taken and there were always towels ready to go. The restaurant is fine. We read the reviews earlier and tried to eat out for lunch as much as possible, but the hotel is just as good as the nearby casual restaurants and similar in price. Breakfast is included in the single rooms but not the suites or villas, so we only went there a couple of times. We would hope that they would include it for the suites going forward but the a la carte selection was ok. Nothing special but nothing to really complain about. We had dinner there once as well and the service was good although again, the food was ok. However, compared to the other restaurants, again, the price wasn’t that bad. Overall, we loved Tamarind Hills. Just some small kinks to work out with the restaurant and maybe a little more advertising for their other restaurant, the Terrace, which is open between lunch and dinner would help. Can't wait to get back here in the near future.
Brilliant hotel- we absolutely loved it. I don’t understand the breakfast comments as we always had for hours breakfasts. Perhaps we were up early (it runs for hours) but the bacon was delicious and the eggs plus Jonny cakes, pancakes, french toast plus all the usual continental offerings. Food at lunch and dinner was also wonderful along with the cocktails. The rooms were stunning and the hotel is on the best part of the beach with someone clearing up seaweed and raking it every morning. There are huge cabanas as well as usual sunbeds. No one was at the pool so you have it to yourself. The hotel could do much more with the terrace for tapas with live music and zizz up the atmosphere at night. The service was not with a smile usually except for a few members of staff. It seemed very disorganised on reception (I am assuming they were all new for the season) and the bar area. They work hard but slowly- is island time after all!! Just plan ahead and order your coffee as you are on your way to the table at breakfast. I will be back, it’s one of the best hotels in the area. Don’t miss Dennis at the end of the beach on a Friday night for a beach bbq and Ffryes beach bar with Vaughan for 3 beers and a shot of rum for ten dollars to go with your chicken and chips. If you have deep pockets then Sheer Rocks and Rokuni are cool and great food. Taxis are easy to get from the hotel.
We enjoyed our stay immensely. The staff was lovely and attentive, and we particularly enjoyed Vaughn’s morning nature walk and our yoga class.
Wonderful experience....beach was amazing. The room and the views were perfect. Special Thanks to Obed and Tyrese at concierge and front desk, a pleasure to deal with! Food and breakfast were OK, and the restaurant for diner also..nothing spectacular.
Very disappointed in this resort, although the rooms are nice as is the beach. Restaurant and food a big disappointment along with the service. We did not have one dinner at this resort and it looked like it was closed every night because either did anyone else. The breakfast buffet food was very cold and very old looking, they offered the same items every morning. Service is very very slow. Lunch was just ok. We visited other resorts where we had dinner and there are much better options. There is zero night life at the resort. Extremely quiet and a very empty feel. I like Antigua but I would not return to this resort. The pool is dead and not nice at all. All the decking is coming up and lacking repairs.
We had a beautiful room, very clean, private and high quality bathroom, just missing the hand shower on the shower, why skimp on that… and great views. Good quality outdoor terrace furniture and unlimited supply of bottled water. The rest was not great given the money we spent. Breakfast a joke, awful food and surly service, little fresh fruit and the buffet inedible. We ate omelettes every day as they were freshly cooked and quite nice. The manager, who we met once, should either see what is going or or send a mystery shopper to observe breakfast. Dinner awful, we ate once and then went out, very nice nearby restaurant, Sheer Rocks, walkable for lunch (10mins via the beach) taxi for dinner as too dark to navigate on foot. This became our local. Beach is lovely, but on check in you hear the dreaded words, “sunbeds are on a first come first served basis”; words I do not want to hear but it was not a problem, however the hotel was quiet , but they were very uncomfortable, see picture, not a 5 star sunbed. Service on the beach was patchy and we gave up trying to get drinks. There is no bar area, just bar stools beside the restaurant and the servers, so not relaxing. As a result no vibe is created in the hotel; they try with a Tapas Bar between 4pm and 7pm but no one goes and service again is patchy. Overall it has great potential but we wont return.
This is my second time at Tamarind hills - the first in 2021 before the communal hotel parts were built. I had such a great stay the first time I wanted to return to see the hotel. The resort itself is very luxurious and the communal areas are lovely. and of course stunning views of turquoise water and white sandy beaches which is the absolute highlight. There are activities such as water sports, croquet and even an indoor golf simulation course - the concierge can also help organise excursions and massages. It would have been nice to have some evening entertainment on some of the days to elevate the experience as the resort felt very quiet in the evenings. House keeping was exceptional the rooms were kept very clean, and even had an evening turndown service as an extra special touch. The bed was enormous and extremely comfortable. The kitchen was also well equipped if you wanted to do your own cooking. Most of the staff were very friendly especially the operations director. Some of the serving staff did seem a little inexperienced for a ‘5* experience’ but the beach waiters were great. Do factor in ‘island time’ for service at times though, we didn’t mind as we felt so relaxed throughout our stay. I found the food reasonably priced for the island perhaps it has changed from previous reviews but it’s comparable to London restaurants (around 30$ for a main). The lunch menu was extensive with more options if you sat in the restaurant for lunch. The food in Antigua is not amazing in general as prices are high due to importing goods, so we found the restaurant very good compared to other restaurants we’ve been too.
Minor details which didn’t affect our stay too much but to help elevate the experience for future guests: We had breakfast included with our stay, but if you didn’t the prices would have added up quickly. We weren’t bothered by this personally but for a high priced ‘luxury’ resort the breakfast service at 7.30 normally wouldn’t be ready till 8am. Additionally, as the hotel became busier they switched to buffet style which was fine as we were aware there was a menu at the start of the stay that we could order from, but for other guests they might have felt there was only the buffet on offer as the menu wasn’t offered during the buffet time. Additionally a couple of days there were no towels available until 8.30/9am. As the name suggests the rooms are situated on the hilltops and you need to climb many stairs to get back up to the room. Luckily we’re young and fit but It would be nice especially for older guests to have a golf buggy service from the beach / reception to rooms. Also in the morning (until 8.30am) and evenings (after 4.30pm) there are sand flies and mosquitos at the beach so do be prepared with bug spray as we weren’t!
Tamarind Hills has certainly earned it's status as a Small Luxury Hotel of the world. We stayed in an amazing studio with stunning panoramic views of the Caribbean that has made me feel Antigua is the most beautiful place I've ever visited. Located at the south end of Ffryes Beach, it is a stunning property with access to a variety of activities but also the ability to kick back and relax not leaving the beach for a week if that's what you want. The hotel staff are all very friendly and kind we got to know some of the bartenders and waitresses including DaVincia and Michele who could not have been kinder and provided plenty of information about Antigua - where to go/what to do beyond the basics. I still cannot get over just how clear the water was just steps from the hotel. Just down the beach you can rent anything from jetskis to paddle boards if you want to get out on the water beyond a casual swim. We couldn't have had better weather and it made for the perfect getaway from a winter climate. The first half of our stay the food was relatively mediocre and nothing to write home about. However, halfway through our stay the new executive chef (Simon) provided an updated menu that was definitely trending in the right direction - certainly excited to go back and see what the next iteration looks like. A huge credit goes to the new GM Munish who personally greeted us any time he was traversing the property and spotted us. I would absolutely give Tamarind Hills 5 stars and we will certainly be back as soon as we can!
Beautiful, modern boutique hotel on Caribbean with lots of amenities. Lovely large room with small kitchen, king bed, couch, desk & side chairs. All rooms have ocean view, deck chairs & a jacuzzi. Modern and roomy bathroom with Molton Brown products, robe & flip flops. Upon arriving, we were gifted a Tamarind Hills canvas beach bag. Resort has a small gym, restaurant with complimentary bfast each day. Very quiet resort & plenty of available beach chairs/umbrellas. Great for families, couples for a quiet week.
Amazing location and beautiful views from every point of the resort. The staff from the manager down were all so nice and accommodating. One of the best places we have ever stayed at!
We had a beautiful room with a deck and a sitting area and a great view of the beach. The only negative thing about Antigua is that its hard to leave the resort to explore because the roads are pot holed and taxis expensive.
