Wild Trails Yala by Suri is perfectly situated, especially if you’re planning a Yala safari, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. The owner - Mr Suri, the manager - Mr Uditha, and the entire staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The food was outstanding, and the jungle vibes were absolutely on point. A memorable experience from start to finish. Highly recommended!

Sehr gemütlich mit allem, was man benötigt.

We had a great stay at this safari camp. The tent was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious and well prepared. Overall, a wonderful experience in nature. Highly recommended!
Good location and the bed was comfortable. The food was pretty nice and it was lovely to have our own pool
The staff were pretty difficult. We got very mixed messages about a number of things and they could be quite rude even though they were the one to make a mistake on booking our safari. They would say one thing and then the next day say something else (we asked for lunch at 3, told it was fine then the next day were told they couldn't do it any later than 2). The facilities in general also weren't great. Air-conditioning couldn't be used in the day, there were no fridges and the kettle also couldn't be used in the day. We stayed two nights and they didn't clean our room which meant the bathroom bin smelt because of the heat.
Great location in the jungle with spacious glamping tents offering privacy and a real close to nature experience. Friendly staff made the stay a real pleasure. Food and service was great.
The bumpy road into it! 😄
We visited Sri Lanka from the US. We wanted to spend, at least a day, out side of the city. We booked the Wild Trails Yala by Suri. From the moment we arrived at the place, Mr. Uditha and his team took great care of us. The location was perfect. Unlike the camp sites or camp grounds in the US, these camps had all the facilities including a nice rooms, separate bathrooms, individual pool and a nice dining room. Dinner was under the stars and by the bonfire as was promised. We had the privilege to meet Mr. Soori personally. He is a softspoken nice gentleman. It is sad that we had time to stay there only for one day. For next time, we plan to stay there longer.
The roads were somewhat bumpy as you would expect from an adventurous travel. Anyway, those roads are maintained by the government and will be fixed by the government in no time. In
Luxurious accommodation in a remote jungle location. Food was good, we enjoyed eating our dinner under the stars. Staff were really helpful and friendly.
Wifi was patchy but considering the remote location we were happy.
Very attentive staff, polite and professional. They explained everything and checked on us consistently
It only has cold water but this is to be expected in a tent and isn’t a problem for a short stay.
Cosy, staff treats you so well
No cold water, but can’t complain when glamping
I had a really lovely experience during my stay. The place was peaceful and beautifully located, and the tent itself was absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. A special mention to Uditha, who was incredibly caring and attentive. He was very engaging, always checking if everything was fine, and truly made me feel looked after. The food was excellent, freshly prepared and cooked specifically for me each time, which made the experience feel very personal and thoughtful. Overall, a beautiful and memorable stay. I would definitely return.
There was no hot water, and in such humid weather it was quite uncomfortable to take a shower. It would also be helpful to have a small basic menu with a few snacks available between breakfast and dinner. The curtains were not very clean, the shower door wasn’t closing properly, and the shower itself had a lot of salt build-up, so the water pressure was very weak.
Excellent glamping safari experience. The rooms were delightful, dark polished wood floors and luxury bathrooms. Good positioning for Yala game reserve. We had a full day safari experience, the hotel packed us a breakfast and the driver set out a lovely Sri Lankan shared meal for lunch. Plenty of water and a good jeep. Our hosts set up an under the stars BBQ for our last meal there and that was superb. Unfortunately We had to change our itinerary at the very last minute and our hosts could not have been nicer and more accommodating about the whole situation. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a lovely stay.
Rien
We could explore the area, very private and felt high end. The room itself was so set up so well and very pleasing to the eyes. And from the very start to the very end everything was so seamless and professional. We like our spicy food and they made every effort to deliver food we would enjoy.
If we had to choose something it would be the western food served. We absolutely love Sri Lankan food but when asked for more Sri Lankan style food the delivered what they could.
The team was great: from the welcoming drink, to the service. The food, the rawness of the location mixed to the luxurious glamping tent.
The property feels very secluded and the rooms are very private giving a unique and intimate jungle experience. Within the rooms AC at night ensures a comfortable sleep with ample room to stretch out and relax. Uditha and his team were fantastic, always attentive and willing to go the extra mile to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.
N/A
Mr. Uditha and his crew was really polite and took care of all of our needs. Safari driver Mr. Indika must be the best driver in the national park.
Gorgeous rooms and comfy beds. Relatively close to start of the park
They told us to come in the afternoon for a bonfire and relaxing evening. We were not told until arrival there would be no air con until nighttime, and there was NO one else there. It was really strange. The staff did not speak great English, which is fine, but we weren’t able to engage with them at all. The road to get in was really bad and challenging to drive in our Tuk Tuk. Food was good, but the whole thing was WAY overpriced.
The tents and room are high quality and the facilities of the hotel are good.
Although, the camp is close to Yala NP, there is a bumpy road to the entrance which even the jeeps have to drive very slowly due the the road conditions so you don't get any advantage to arrive earlier to Yala, since all the jeeps from Tissa have a pavement road directly to the entrance! Beware of your valuable things inside the room, we were robbed, although we locked the room, during the Safari.

Helpful and friendly staff. Very quiet place. Cabins are well isolated from each other, so good privacy. Good dinners and breakfast.
Not really safari tents, more like semi-permanent wood structure with fabric walls - but the overall feeling is OK. No air on during the day - understandable and it did not bother us, but nevertheless it should be mentionned. No mini-fridge in the room and this should be easy to fix. Meals are extremely expensive, like twice the price of anywhere else, and you have no choice because once you arrive in the hotel you are stuck there, the closest other restaurant is maybe 15km away. This is not normal, standard pricing (maybe just a little higher due to remote location) would be more fair. And, there is strictly no way to reach the hotel by normal car: it is a very long and bumpy road, very damaged, accessible exclusively with a 4x4 vehicle, which we were not aware of. Your car stops on the main road and hotel sends a 4x4 pick up where you transfer your luggage’s. It is in fact quite far away from the park (our fault, we thought that the hotel was close to Tissa and it is absolutely not. This is not hotel’s fault, we should have checked bette). And last when we paid the bill, it was 12€ higher than mentionned on our reservation and there is no break-down on the bill Here also it is our fault, we should have asked why this overcast, which we did not do by lack of attention. In some previous comments we have seen complaints about the fact that hotel was charging 12USD for the 4x4 pick up. Maybe this was it, in which case it would not be honnest because there is no other way to reach the hotel so definately this service MUST be part of the room fare. Altogether, nice people, good overall ambiance an nice place, and for half the price we would put a 9. For this price, we have to compare with what we get elsewhere for the same price in terms of confort and amenities and it is a little 7.
Very helpful team. Helped arrange a cake for my wife's birthday and were always on hand for any requirements. Also helped arrange transfers etc. Room was very spacious and comfortable albeit a little dimly lit - which may be necessary for generator based power supply.
Gorgeous setting, tents are great, no hot water but you don’t really need it, air con at night was a blessing, the place organised a great tour and made it all super simple for us
Food wasn’t amazing but solid
Beautiful rooms, staff friendly, wonderful dogs, amazing food,
Just a bit boring. Would be nice to have entertainment in evening.
Amazing Stay Near the National Park! Our experience at this camp was absolutely fantastic! The tent was beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly situated close to the entrance of the national park. The location made exploring incredibly convenient. The food was another highlight—truly exceptional! They have an excellent chef who prepares an outstanding dinner, making every meal a delight. Overall, this is definitely one of the best places to stay. Highly recommended!
The host is responsive...and the location is right in the middle of forest as it seems
The road to the property was too bad to drive on our own..they close the dinner by 9.. there was no light in the night ..after paying such a huge price we had to be awake the whole night for which they made our dinner free...but I dnt think only that could compensate with price we paid
We had a great stay in this camp before safari in Yala. Having delicious dinner under the stars with lights and bonfire and afterwards - sleeping in a big, comfortable tent surrounded by forest night life sounds made this experience unforgettable!
Incredible setting in the middle of the bush with all the modern facilities. Manager Uditu has an incredible approach to every guest. His effort was outstanding. Rest off the staff ( security, porters, assist. manager and all the other guys) went above and beyond. Cleanliness was excellent if you consider that you are in the middle of nowhere.
The tent needs a bit of upkeep, roof outside the tent was torn.
What an amazing experience. The house you get to stay in is simply incredible, secluded and gives an absolute Safari feeling! It is very big and the bathroom is great. We've had the most amazing hosts that were incredibly attentive and supportive. For a little extra, you can book a BBQ including a bonfire under the stars, which we can highly recommend! The food and service was outstanding. Something i am so thankful for - they will contact you already before your travel and during our texts to arrange everything I mentioned that it was my best friends birthday. They were so kind and offered to have a cake ready for her with her name on it for her special day.. Thank you so much for the effort! We really appreciate that. Lastly, the Safari was amazing! We drove with Indika and he was the perfect Safari guide. He stopped for us whenever possible, tried to make sure we see the most animals and explained everything in detail to us. We can only recommend taking a tour with him! If you plan on doing a Safari in Yala and want to experience a Safari like housing - this is the place to do so! Highly recommend and we'd definitely would come back. Lastly, if you plan on doing a Safari, we suggest to do the full day one :)
Very nice tents, and spacious. Nice staff also
A bit too far from the entrance to Yala national Park and via a quite bumpy dirt road
The saving element of our trip was safari, which was separate from - but organised by - Wild Trails. Safari was excellent and the driver very knowledgable. It’s a good location but far too many disappointment and somewhat misleading elements from the property listing….
You can’t arrive at wild trails in a taxi due to the poor state of the roads - you need to arrange a collection with the property. The facilities are pretty limited. There is no hot water for a start which isn’t mentioned. The AC isn’t available during the day (when arguably needed the most), instead there is a fan. You are also not allowed out of your rooms after dark. The tents were a little tatty compared to the listing - it looks like the pictures are quite old.
Very nice service, amazing tent, beautiful breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Don't book somewhere else safari tour, we had one day with highly recommended company and next day with them, it is good that we took this decision, it was many times more enjoyable, nice car, professional driver and ranger!!! Also we really enjoyed the stay with dog, he was taking care of us, sleeping outside, and didn't let any animals next to the tent. Nice protective dog, just keep in mind that this is not a pet. They are still semi wild, so needs to give them space and to know how to behave. Highly recommended place
Would be great to have hot water at least some. Even though it wasn't freezing, it was not easy to get a shower or hair wash , which I did in the sink.
A true safari experience in these luxury tented accomodation. Beds were very comfortable and all staff very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Down a bumpy dirt track so we couldn’t get our Tuktuk down the road. The staff were incredibly helpful though and helped us with this. I would just arrange that in advance of arriving.
This is Really pure luxury in the Middle of Nature ! Luxurious, spacious tents which feel more like a real Hotel Room because they are so well equipped! I loved the spacious bathroom and our terrace where we relaxed After an amazing Safari ! I would Book it again when in Yala
There was some advertisement of a bonfire in Advance, but it did Not take place . But it was ok for us .
Real outdoor experience in the bush
Extremely poorly managed by Suri. The place is great, but you better book on the other half of the camp, managed by Mili. He took real good care of the guests.
Glamping experience great for one night stay. Tasty authentic cuisine at lunch and dinner time. Staff very friendly and attentive.
There are a lot of mosquitoes and insects obviously being in the wild, but it was a lot and I left covered in bites. No running water in bathroom in the morning or until we left. And when it is running you can only have cold showers. It’s quite out of the way and the track on the way to the property is very worn and bumpy making it difficult for normal cars to get down.
The staff were very friendly and pleasant. The tents were comfortable.
Found the safari drives very overpriced and you had to pay cash which was a hassle as don’t usually carry that amount of cash and it was not highlighted to us before.
Staff was extremely helpful and polite and tried their best with the limited resources available to them.
No A/C during the day.
Great location
Huts needs renewal.
The meals were good and the staff were doing their best.
It is impossible to reach without a 4x4, the bathroom door was broken and there was no hot water. This would all be acceptable if it didn’t cost so much money - it felt overpriced.
Location
No AC in daytime
The nature, surroundings, proximity to the Yala National Park.
Rude behavior and words by managerial staff and owner especially by Udita, Eranga. And Booking.com customer care is hopeless in intervening and resolving issues. Leave that - The Booking.com ream don't even have a proper local phone number and customer care team that is reachable! Their email responses are late, generic and irrelevant to the issue. There is misrepresentation of the facilities on Booking.com description page which was highlighted, food was quite average and not so accommodative of vegetarian tastes and preferences. AC is shut off after 5 am is a very important aspect that has not been mentioned in the listing.
The camp is in the middle of the jungle and not too far away from the safari gate. The folks who run the camp ensure you get the best drivers and rangers for your safari. I would highly recommend folks to opt for the all day safari through the hotel! The candle light dinner under the stars was a beautiful touch!
Luxury in the middle of jungle. 5 starts service from the crew and one of the amazing food we had considering we are in the middle of nowhere. Mr. Uditha ensure our safety and everything we want and need met. He made sure our 5 year old son is happy and content. If you’re planning a safari trip, request to have Mr. Indika to be your guide as he’s one of the best!
A night under canvas but with all the comforts -beds, en suite, showers, wifi and air con! Loved the big family tent, plenty of room and fun adventure. Plenty of food and variations were kindly accommodated - no one went hungry, even picky kids were happy!
The access road is just about ok for safari jeeps but tough for drivers/ vans
Connected to the wilderness Out door dinner
A perfect place to stay before the Yala Safari, the owner was incredibly helpful, booked everything for us and even arranged our (long) taxi ride back at very short notice. A perfect experience
Immersed into nature, very welcoming staff that also arranged transportation and safaris (including udalawawe) for us. All the amenities are present and the tent was a very nice and comfortable relaxing stay. Great breakfast and dinner, including an amazing one by the fire (ask in advance). The bush walk is a nice plus, we saw some great birds and stunning landscape.
The tent is very spacious. It's in the middle of nature and close to yala National Park. There are no shops or restaurants around so you have your food and beverages in the hotel. The food is amazing and the hotel manager Uditha is fantastic. He will help you with everything and he will make sure you have a good time. The tents have AC but only at night. At day time its really really hot in the tent. This informatian is not on the website or booking.com. maybe the could change that information. There is also no hot water. But with the heat a could shower is really nice. Thanks a lot to Uditha and his team to make it a great time. I heard that Uditha is a temporary manager. The boss should make him the permanent Manager. He really goes that extra mill!
No ac in the daytime
Uditha was a wonderful host, he welcomed us and nothing was too much trouble for him and the team. The whole experience was wonderful from the second we arrived
Away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Staying in the middle of the forest, close to nature. Perfect for a getaway with friends to experience an exciting glamping trip together. What you see in the picture is what you get, an elevated glamping experience. You get your own air-conditioned hut with WiFi and proper shower facilities. The staff were great, taking care of us every step of the way. Would recommend to have the meals here since it’s quite difficult to travel out for food. Do also experience the Safari as we opted for the morning session, which could be arranged by the property beforehand. Definitely recommend for those who are keen to experience an elevated camping experience!
Dont book this hotel. Dishonest owner. Did not keep his promise n attached our WhatsApp conversation. I regret the choice of accommodation. The Wild Trails Yala & Wild Trails Yala by Suri are the same hotels. They don't have a water heater, n we had to shower in cold, miserable poor water pressure water n bed frame was broken n did not fix it. Mattress was placed on the floor. Overpriced with dated property
Dont trust what they say in whatsapp conversations they have no integrity. They were unhappy that we did not book Safari with them. Uditha said it's an off season n our check out time is 11.30 am. They served breakfast at 10.40am n expected us to leave after shower by 11.30am. we needed 30 minutes more to shower but were told to leave.
It was literally right in the middle of jungle - If you are a nature lover, this is definitely for you! There were a lot of flies and mosquitos as expected, so remember to bring bug sprays! They also offered lunch and dinner at additional cost. I would say they were a bit overpriced but it was very tasty. The AC only runs from like 7pm-630am, but they also have a fan which works.
My boyfriend had a work meeting during our stay, but unfortunately the wifi in our room didn't work properly. We met a couple at the hotel restaurant, and they mentioned their wifi worked properly. The team was really flexible, and we went to the other tent for their wifi after the couple have checked out which worked perfectly. I think it depends on the tent, but we really appreciate the flexibility of the team - thank you so much for their fantastic hospitality! There's no mini fridge in the room, so don't bother if you are planning to bring beers and cold drinks.
Staff were very nice especially the camp manager. Staff do go above and beyond to try to ensure a great experience. Location is remote and it was nice to give a different experience to our kids instead of resorts and hotels.
You can’t reach this property without a 4x4 due to the condition of the road. We had to rely on coordinating with staff to drop and pick us up from the main road which was ok but not that convenient. They also added a 12USD charge on checkout for doing this which we questioned stating doesn’t seem reasonable to charge if you don’t tell people upfront they need a 4x4 to reach the site. It was then removed. Meals at 15USD per person seemed expensive to local standards give you can get same offering in town for about 1/2 that. Beers 1000 rupees each is very high. Be aware there is Aircon BUT only at NIGHT not during the heat of the day so we found ourselves having to go out to town / beach because the tent was too hot despite a big fan.
Excellent glamping experience in Yala - the tents are great, beds are comfortable. The staff in particular were very helpful and attentive. This is a very remote location though so do be prepared for something a bit off road.
Nothing, it was great.
A great way to experience the wildlife in a very upmarket glamping tent. The tent had a great bathroom and was very spacious which also included a very substantial breakfast before we headed off to an early morning safari where we saw many animals. The staff and manager were extremely helpful, friendly and made the stay seamless.
It says air conditioned room, which is only available from 5pm. During the day they offered a very strong fan which was goo however, it was very hot.
Nothing. I have travelled to more than 24 countries but never have I faced such a bad rude person
1. Food was bad and was charged so much, even after telling them that we were vegetarian they added the egg 2. For the price they charged, it was very bad compared to other properties 3. The manager was so rude...his words "we don't welcome Indians, because they are like you...you should have gone to some other place if you wanted vegetarian food ..this is a camp not a hotel. We only like European guests" 4. The road was bad and we had to be picked by them to reach the site and that was a lot of trouble moving the luggage back and forth. 5.
Our "tent" was really spacious and in the middle of the jungle which was really fun and you can hear all the bird and animal sounds in the morning. Uditha took very very good care of us he is great! He even retrieved something for my friend in town which was incredible service. Also arranged the safari and lunch and two dinners for us which was great, especially the packed lunch during safari was awesome and tasty - we asked for vegetarian and it was so delicious. The pickup from the road for the off road jeep to take us to the tents was uncomplicated.
The vegetarian dinners were mostly carbs (fried rice, fried noodles, french fries, pasta, some steamed veggies) which is a bit on the heavy side and to be honest a little bit on the pricey side too. The separate shower and bathroom area in our tent had a very unpleasant smell. (but air moisture is ofcourse very high everywhere so kind of understandable)
All meals were good. The fresh fruit and fresh juice was good. Very good service by Uditha. He treated us like family.
would have liked to have Sri Lankan Dinner instead of fried rice two days consecutively. Loved the Kiri bath for breakfast. Would have been nice to have a different dessert other than fruit and Ice cream.
Mostly, the friendliness of the staff & polite communication & the super service of camping manager Mr. Udith😊
