Der Gastgeber ist sehr hilfsbereit und gibt gute Wandertipps. Die Aussicht von der überdachten Dachterrasse ist fantastisch. Die Unterkunft ist umgeben von Teeplantagen, altem Baumbestand und einer wunderbaren Ruhe. Die Zimmer sind einfach, sehr sauber, man hat alles, was man braucht. Die Verpflegung ist landestypisch, es schmeckt hervorragend. Aufgrund der Lage ist es empfehlenswert, die Verpflegung mit dem Gastgeber vorher mit WhatsApp oder telefonisch abzustimmen. Wir waren dort leider nur eine Nacht, empfehlenswert sind mindestens 2 Übernachtungen, wenn man in dieser Gegend wandern möchte.

Helaas minder mooi weer waardoor we niet echt van het uitzicht konden genieten. Ook vonden wij de kamers niet erg schoon.

Struttura in un posto fantastico in mezzo a piante di ogni tipo e con un panorama eccezionale. La mia camera aveva una vista indimenticabile. Il proprietario Rhoana è super esperto del luogo e ci ha consigliato varie camminate nei dintorni oltre a darci mille altre informazioni. Colazione e cena con piatti locali super abbondanti. Il the e il caffè provengono dalle coltivazioni del proprietario sul posto. Giudizio più che positivo!

Le camere purtroppo hanno delle aperture nella parte alta del muro ed essendo in montagna entrava vento e freddo! I bagni di alcune stanze sono confinanti divisi da un vetro e una parete e quindi se si va in bagno con la luce accesa si rischia di svegliare il vicino o viceversa!

On a été très bien accueillis et les repas étaient copieux et délicieux. Très belle vue au coeur des montagnes que nous aurions adoré parcourir.

Les chambres et l espace de vie sur le toit sont assez sommaires si le mauvais temps est de la partie, ce qui a été notre cas. Sous le soleil, ça doit être magique

An amazing place. Best view we've had in Sri Lanka, period! Also a lovely host that recommended many hikes and sights nearby. Worth hiking to the top of the hill on the property at sunrise. It's magical.

There are some leeches on the tea plantation so wear repellent or leech socks. But that's not the property's fault. They are everywhere in the mountains in wet areas.

Beautiful views from roof terrace, helpful host and plentiful local home cooked food, lovely kittens!

We upgraded to room with panoramic views which were beautiful BUT there is a big gap between top of window and roof which allows many insects to come into room and no mosquito net or fan so not a pleasant room to sleep in!

One of the best stays we have had - Rohana is a wonderful host. So friendly, helpful, and goes out of his what to make your stay enjoyable. Amazing food for every meal, two kittens to play with, avocados picked off the tree, deer roaming free in the garden, a private 360 viewpoint just 10 min walk up the hill. Truly an amazing experience

Many rooms are with a common bathroom, no lights, door is broken, never recomend , we turned back.

Very helpful host, always ready to help us. He gave us all the information for hiking, routes, how to reach the house.. The views from the house are amazing and the food was delicious.

Rohana is a great host. He helped a lot with the arrival, the organization of a hike, and shares a lot of great stories. The location is beautifully located in the tea fields, and we did multiple awesome hikes and runs. The food is very convenient as you buy the full service (breakfast, lunch, dinner etc for 5000lkr), we loved the coconut filled pancakes.

The location is very remote, which hints towards a serene night. That wasn’t the case. It can be really noisy as there is no isolation. Both nights there was a party which went on late. Hence, don’t expect a silent night of sleep. The room itself was clean, however, the bathroom wasn’t cleaned.

Impossible de dormir quand il y a du vent car chambre ouverte sur l extérieur. Couvertures pas top, pas de serviettes. Les repad sous forme de pack pour 15 dollars par jour ne sont pas bons. Le snack du midi n est pas un vrai repas mais juste qqs crêpes. Emportez votre propre nourriture Les photos sont beaucoup plus belles que la réalité, chambres petites et délabrées

The property was in an absolutely beautiful location. So peaceful. Rohana was an amazing host, he made us feel right at home and helped organise many activities and walks. Such a variety of amazing food was provided to us, as well as home grown tea and coffee. Definitely an experience to do!

Zeer uitgebreid en heerlijk ontbijt en diner. De gastheer Rohana is zeer behulpzaam en helpt je bij het zoeken naar de mooiste wandelingen / trekkings.

Rohana is the most friendly and helpful host you can imagine. He works together with the local community to give you the best experience in this rural and remote area. We had fantastic local food, local guide and explanation about the area. His facility offers the basics you need and is a good basis to explore the area.

Rohana was incredible. the estate is a bit out of town but Rohana was super helpful in assisting our driver to find the location. we had incredible food, incredible company and an incredible hike along the knuckles ranges facilitate with the help of Rohana. he even brought out his telescope! it’s a simple accomodation but so worth it for the location and Rohana!

We really had amazing days. We were supposed to stay 3 nights but we liked it so much that we extended our stay. Rohanes place is located in the middle of nature in a quiet, beautiful environment, from where we could make very nice trips and hikes; Rohane helped us with our plans. The food was delicious and we enjoyed every meal with the nice view. Rohane was really very hospitable and we felt at home quickly.

Exceptional views, the host was very accommodating and provided a lot of information about hiking and sightseeing. Great food cooked by the lady cook, though pricey.

Beautiful location within the tea plantation. Nice kitchen you can use for a small fee, isolated so very quite, amazing host, very nice place to stay.

This is an amazing place to stay. The accommodation is simple, but the views are spectacular and Rohana will give you lots of ideas for walks in the area.

A great experience of hosting in the foot of Knuckle Forest! Fully recommend staying at Rohana’s place for some days. He is very willing to help you anytime with the planning of your holiday, offering a great variety of hiking paths. The food was also very delicious offering a variety of local Sri Lankan plates.

The food was the best we've had in Sri Lanka! Wonderfully peaceful location, perfect for nature lovers

We came here for hiking and that was a good choice. The owner was really helpful with our plans. The terrace is really nice, especially after your long hike to knuckles for sunrise. There is a lot of wildlife to see there and the view is stunning. The full board option is a nice option to avoid any unnecessary ways in and out.

Rohanna IS a nice and Kind Person.

The kitchen IS very dirty. WE couldn't eat the food a second time. The big room in which WE stayed IS Not ready. The acomodation had a Touch of camping. There are big holes in both Side of the wall. Plankets thin Like paper. IT was very cold during the night. Without a Car or motorcycle everything ist very difficult to reach. Sorry the owner IS a nice Person but WE cannot recommend a stay there.

A truly extraordinary location, and a charming, interesting host. The views are magnificent.

The stay is located beautifully in between a tea plantation, with an amazing view which you can see from the rooftop of the stay. This is where we were served tasty local food. Rohana is a kind and helpful man😊 from the stay you can hike in the Knucles range, which we loved. Definitely recommend this to everyone!

The view is great and the big windows are lovely to see out of. The pictures are pretty accurate so what you see is what you get. Food portions for dinner were enormous, although full board comes at 5000lkr pp. It wasn't clear to us from the beginning, but it is possible to get a bus from Kandy to the main gate - once you are there busses also go to some important hiking/view points but it's definitely a little easier with access to a tuk tuk.

I would have perhaps preferred less quantity and better quality with the food - it definitely wasn't bad, but I've had better in Sri Lanka without the need to over cater. The room had a beautiful view but the only let down was that both the spaces above the entry door and balcony door are open, so a draft blows through the entire time. The nights get chilly and there's only a very thin blanket provided so it wasn't a welcome breeze. The building in general is weirdly designed and half finished in places. No towels were provided so be sure to have your own. We were charged a 300lkr pp/day "utility" fee to use the kitchen for our own meals as we only ordered dinner. But the kitchen is small and it's difficult to use especially when the lovely lady is cooking there as well. There was very little space to actually keep food and use the space.

Rohana is a nice person, very helpful and social. We had an experience with him as he offered us a ride from Kandy. Overall, the premises have homestay feel (dont expect hotel like stay here). If you are interested in doing five knuckles hiking, these premises can easily work as a base for that hike. Check Google Maps for: Dawatagala Knuckles Natural Trail. Keep in mind this place is pretty far from Kandy and if arriving with bus, you should ask for help directly from Rohan. Bus ride from Rohan estate to Kandy took around 2 and half hour. We had to switch bus at Wattegama. Thank you for great coffee and delicious bananas.

We appreciate the effort that was put into making the meals, but we were a bit disappointed with the quality considering the price. It didn’t quite meet our expectations, and I hoped for something more in line with the cost.

Rohana was our favourite host and a stay in Sri Lanka. He is very helpful (helped us to find a way using public transport to get to his place, suggested several options for hiking), empathetic and so nice. The food they serve is perfect, portions are huge and deffinitely worth the price. The lodge is almost at the top of a hill therefore the view from rooms is phenomenal. The room offers a bed, blankets, a table with a chair, there is a shared bathroom.

Nothing was a problem, just be aware that the accomodation is still in a building therefore you may experience a slight discomfort.

Location is awesome. It has a stunning view. Owner is so friendly and a well educated retired professional. The best part for me was the view from the room. It has a large window that offers a view of the entire surrounding area. Access is very convenient, thanks to the well-maintained road. After a 10-minute walk, you’ll reach the camping site at the peak of the mountain where this property is located. It was an amazing experience as it has a 360 degree view.

Having a television would be a great update.

This is a homestay. Rohana will welcome you and serve tea/coffee, dinner and breakfast either at the rooftop or in the living room. The family room has a stunning view of the mountains from your bed. So the shared balcony and rooftop. The twin room was advertised with balcony, but it was at the back with a side window, dark and no view. Its bathroom was outside shared with the hosts and only cold water. Access to the balcony from outside too. The two rooms we booked were connected via the bathroom of family room, which had hot water. Breakfast served was plenty and tasty. Dinner couldn’t meet the palate of our guests. Rohana has even his own peak like 1km from the place, and has interesting stories to tell. Another double room in the corner was being built. Overtime it’s gonna be a great place for sure. It’s accessible by car.

Overall the pictures were better, and the rooms were rather provisional. Rohana is a man with many projects in mind, he would certainly turn this place into a special experience. The views are simply breathtaking. Go for the views!

Rohana, the owner is a very dedicated and caring host who perfectly knows the area. We got all the recommendations where to go for hiking (e.g. several waterfalls, a natural pool, different routes around knuckles mountain range). Also we got to eat the best Sri Lankan Food on our trip so far, which we enjoyed on the rooftop terrace with the most amazing view over the mountains. This rooftop dinner itself is worth the visit. Thank you Rohana, for this unforgettable and much to short visit at your place. We will definitely come back! :-)

The rooms are simple but very clean and there’s everything you need. Don’t trust google maps for the directions. Rohana sends out all the details on how to reach the place - make sure to check your messages after booking (we overlooked them and ended on some bumpy roads). You will also be asked for your food preferences beforehand.

The host Rohana is exceptionally welcoming, knowledgeable about the area and just a really nice person. Gave us so many tips for our activities in Knuckles, showed us his garden and gave us information about all the native plants and prepared absolute feasts for us for breakfast and dinner. Location has to be one of the best ones I’ve stayed at in my whole experience travelling.

The host is a lovely man, very friendly and knowledgeable with explaining hiking plans to explore the area. The view is fantastic, the location is peaceful and very beautiful. The food served was some of the best I've had in a month travelling the country. The room is basic but that's to be expected for the remoteness and the price

We were absolutely blown away with out time at Rohannas estate and will remember it for a very long time. Rohanna was so helpful the whole time- from collection from Kandy, all throughout the stay to then dropping us to Sigiriya at the end. His lovely staff prepared masses amounts of breakfast, lunch (to take away for hiking also) and dinner- and was all delicious!! The location was amazing, and our room had the most amazing view. There are many waterfalls/ hikes you can go on nearby and explore the gorgeous Knuckles range. Would highly recommend staying here.

I loved everything about the stay. Perfect hideaway from all the tourists and enjoying pure nature, spectacular views, great views and a great hospitality. I'd always come back and would have lived to stay longer. The little Peak behind the property is magical for sunset.

Rohana is an incredible host, knowledgable and provides a hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner. He is full of suggestions for outdoor activities in the local area and can arrange tours and/or transport.

The sight, the pick of the estate and the food are incredible.

From the roof terrasse you see the five Knucles Peaks. Three waterfalls are within walking distance. And the coffee and tea, you drink is from the small estate around the House. Don’t expect Hilton-style-luxury. Expect something much better! This is a homestay on it’s way to become a small hotel. Very personal service from the owner, Rohan, who is a man of the world with many years of travel behind him. He speaks good english and is ready to help with directions for the easy hikes, and get you in contact with a local skilled guide to the mountains (necessary!) His own estate offers a beautiful short hike: From the top, you have a 360-view of the many peaks around it. Possibly the most beautiful place in the world. Go! (Nb! Remember to bring Long pants, leech-socks, leech-protection-balm and bud-reppelant. Then you will be fine.)

The area is amazing, off the beaten-path Our host Rohana is extremely knowledgeable about his country and more, his English is very good, we could converse with him for hours. The dishes prepared by himself and Nisha were absolutely delicious. Last but not least, the room has the biggest bed that we have never seen and comfy, the view is breathtaking on the landscape, sunrise, sunset,… This place is an hidden gem for nature lovers, people seeking for authentic and genuine encounters with locals. The Rohana Estate is located in a beautiful area with amazing forests and mountains. There is a peak with 360° view on the surroundings. The view from our room was unforgettable. Rohana is a great host and advised us about the nearby attractions. The Sri Lankan meals cooked on site were delicious, we got even breakfast to-go when we went hiking prepared exactly the way we liked it. We felt very well taken care of. I had travelled to a few different places in Sri Lanka and several other countries and I can honestly say that the stay at Rohana's place was one from the top best. For nature lovers this is a perfect choice.

Everything was outstanding at Rohana's place. Superb location overlooking the mountains and the plantation, with a rooftop terrace to have breakfast, lunch, work and relax. Rohana and his employees are amazing, very knowledgeable about the area and he helped me planning my trips, he is very attentive to his guests need and available. The team of cooks is amazing, large variety of delicious homegrown, organic food, so many different fruits and vegetables, and very accomodating for special diets (vegan). And tea and coffee from the plantation all day. Lot of beautiful nature and hikes in the area: waterfalls, rangala pool, and the Knuckles.
