Even if there was nothing else on offer in this lovely town you would be delighted by the vulnerable personal expression and professional service of 1 Royal Street Guest house. The breakfast was a gormet experence, served with grace and attention to detail. The art is a gift that makes it worth travelling there just for the accomodation itself. Antonio was an incredible host. The room was perfect.

The most wonderful experience staying at 1 Royal Street Guesthouse ! What a beautiful place in which the attention to detail and comfort is top priority. The most amazing breakfast , truly a '' theatrical " food experience ! Stunning gardens as well. Room decor and furnishings are beautiful.

Great accommodation. The smallish room was comfortable, well appointed, superbly decorated. Breakfast was an innovative 3 courses served with great flair by the host, Antonio. If we are in the area again, this is where we will stay.

Wonderful stay and amazing host. Antonio really made it very special. The breakfasts were incredible! Brazilian coffee, homemade spreads, freshly baked croissants... truly amazing. The main house/ breakfast area is beautiful, and they paid a lot of attention to details - music, lights, and the fireplace were also setting the mood. Netflix and WiFi didnt give us any problems, jellybeans and the custom note made it extra special! You walk around the corner to all of the little shops, so the location was perfect for us as well. I don't doubt that we will be back - we wish our trip could've been longer. 10/10 experience.

I don't have any negative critique - literally the only thing I can think of is that I wish the honesty bar had a few more snacks for our midnight munchies.

We absolutely loved our stay. The breakfast was a particular highlight: continental, but beautifully served rather than self-service, which made it feel far more personal and thoughtful. Antonio is clearly passionate about supporting local small businesses, and every item seemed to have been carefully and lovingly selected by him. The property itself feels like living in an art gallery. The entrance, hallways, rooms, and bathrooms are adorned with an eclectic collection of local and international artwork, giving every space character and charm. The fixtures and furnishings are equally beautiful and throughout the property it is evident that great care has been taken with every detail. Personal attention and genuine hospitality are at the heart of the experience.

An absolute gem in Riebeek Kasteel! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The room we stayed in was absolutely beautiful, spacious, tastefully furnished, and incredibly comfortable. The entire house is a true work of art, decorated with the most extraordinary and eclectic collection of pieces that make every corner feel special. Nothing feels overdone; everything just works perfectly, creating a harmonious and welcoming atmosphere. But what truly stole the show was the breakfast prepared by Antonio. It was an experience in itself. Thoughtful, delicious, and presented with such care and passion. It’s easily one of the best breakfasts we’ve had at any guesthouse or hotel. We will definitely be booking 1 Royal Street again. If you’re looking for a special stay, this is the place. Highly recommended!

We only stayed for one night

Friendly helpful hosts, attention to detail and little spoils like chocolates on pillows and a bowl of jelly beans.

The guesthouse is a piece of art with the most beautiful furniture ,art pieces and decor. Our room was spacious with excellent quality linen.Highly recommended.

Perfect location with every comfort and a fascinating art collection.

Breakfast was a real treat! The table was set to perfection and each day we noted a small decoration variation..lovely! The meal was prepared by Antonio himself.... the freshly baked homemade croissants were memorable ..served with a platter of meats and beautiful cheeses and homemade preserves. Followed by freshly cut fruit, yoghurt and homemade muesli. ...to complete the meal..a banana crepe! Always served on beautiful tableware..

Just a very small detail that can easily be rectified..the towels in the room..although changed daily and very clean, could do with replacing. No other negative observation.

We had a gorgeous stay in Riebeek Kasteel. The guesthouse is beautifully decorated, with an unbelievable collection of art on display throughout, making the whole space feel unique, warm and inspiring. The location was excellent - central and within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops. The owner was kind, friendly, attentive to every detail and incredibly helpful. Breakfast was a real highlight: a carefully curated three-course spread with divine cheeses, homemade croissants, fruit salad, muesli, freshly made crêpes with homemade preserves, and freshly brewed Brazilian coffee. The rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean, with lovely linen, good pillows, tea and coffee-making facilities, and many thoughtful extra touches. Highly recommend - a very special place to stay.

Antonio is a great host. He loves decorating and maintaining his house. The 3 courses breakfast was a delight for both stomach and the eyes.

Beautiful guesthouse with very nicely decorated rooms filled with art. The garden with a swimming pool is beautifully landscaped and wonderfully peaceful. The staff is very hospitable and helpful, and the breakfast is simply fantastic.

There are so many things to like. The rooms are so comfortable, especially the bed, very important. The location is excellent and Antonio, Bartholomew & Ashley are fantastic friendly hosts. The best thing about the guest house is that the rooms are separate from the house so once the room is cleaned, which is done so quickly you hardly notice, the room is yours and it feels like your own home. The breakfast are amazing.

Wow wow wow! What a gem! Beautiful guesthouse with exquisite interior, lovely swimming pool and garden where one can relax in privacy. Our host was very friendly and spoiled us with a breakfast feast. We would definitely recommend this stay to anyone that visits Riebeek Kasteel.

The decor was gorgeous! Attention to detail was there. Overall I would highly recommend people to stay there. Antonio was very nice and helped with our luggage and made the check in super quick!

There should be a picture of the host, Antonio, in the dictionary next to the word 'perfection'. He loves and lives hospitality. The place is amazing, so much love for detail and the breakfast is lovely.

The room we were in was beautifully decorated and but has little space to place personal items such as suitcases and other bags.

Great location, pretty garden and pool area - exceptionally clean with lovely finishing touches in the room. Chocolates on the pillow etc., excellent filter coffee and refreshments available in the room as well as a bar fridge!

Our room was very comfortable and spacious. Beautifully furnished and lots of lovely artwork throughout. Perfectly located to explore the town on foot and excellent restaurants nearby.

There was nothing we didn’t like about the property.

What a very special place. Everything was just perfect. The beautiful, comfortable room with wonderful decor, the peaceful gardens and pool, the gorgeous friendly dogs, and Antonio’s fabulous hospitality. Not forgetting the wonderful breakfast.

A beautiful B&B in the heart of Riebeek Kasteel, filled with amazingl art and quirky collectibles. We enjoyed the pool in the beautiful garden, after a wine tasting and some shopping in the shops around the house. After a good night's sleep, the 3 course breakfast was a highlight. Our new favourite place in the village.

Wow, The decor and artwork is beautiful inside this guest house, everything is thought of. The service was great, and the breakfast served was delicious and all home made. We also enjoyed the company of the 4 dogs who were very sweet. The surrounding shops, wine farm, food markets, and restaurants in the location were also very quaint and great for things to do when coming to Riebeek Kasteel.

So tasteful and beautiful art and decor. Felt private and perfect for our night away.

Breakfast was out of this world , Antonio the host made every effort to make it memorable . The quality of the ingredients were superb and the freshly baked croissants sublime. Loved the attention to detail and the art in all aspects, like living in a gallery!!

Not much I could fault , the only thing was that guest motorbikes were parked in the garden which slightly spoilt the view and atmosphere

A room that backed the local night life pubs and bars with deafening music and noise that did not allow for relax or sleep . I cannot believe for a minute that the owners are not aware of this and ‘upgrading’ us to that room was quite insulting.

We loved our stay. Antonio is super friendly and attentive and prepares a mean breakfast. The hotel and rooms are designed with much love for detail by a couple who loves modern art. We were truly stunned when we arrived and wished we had booked more nights! Ribeek Kasteel is also a fun town and probably a better visit than Stellenbosch and Franschoek which seem more overrun. There are lovely wineries and restaurants in this little town.

Friendly and courteous host. Very clean. Close to a couple of restaurants. House has lots of interesting items to keep your interest going and add to the nice ambience of the property . We enjoyed having some dogs around the house.

I would have to say that the room was small (had to store our suitcases in shower room), with no direct access to usable outside space. We stayed in a mountain view room. Other rooms may be better. We stayed 3 nights and it would perhaps not be so noticeable if the stay was just 1 night.

Upon our arrival, we were immediately upgraded to the largest available room, as we were the only guests during a weekday.. The decor and attention to detail were impressive. The breakfast was excellent and really made our day!

All in all, everything was excellent! Probably the weather could have been warmer, so we could have used the pool facilities.

This is our second stay at 1 Royal. We cannot fault this property. This time we stayed in the Orchard Cottage Suite, which was exceptional. Everything you touch and see is curated with a stunning eye for quality, design and comfort. We love the art in this room. Antonio’s breakfasts give the Mount Nelson a run for its money!
