Best stay at a cheap rate. It's just at the upper point of Kandy lake view point,close to the tooth relic temple and other important places. Beds are comfy, washroom is clean and the shower area is separated from the toilet as well.

Upalis place is in the most beautiful location, up in the hills above kandy lake. It is quite serene and so peaceful. It took us 2 minutes to walk to the famous view point which was stunning. It was about a 7-10 minute walk down to main kandy town. Definetly worth staying here to still be near the centre but not be overwhelmed by the chaos. The owners were charming, lovely and really genuinely friendly. We really really enjoyed our stay here, so much so that we attempted to extend by one night! It was a lovely place to visit :)

Beautiful, cozy, clean and confortable room! Also they have a small nice terrace, so even when it is raining you can enjoy being outside. Upali and Margrat are very kind people, they welcomed me very warmly. Thank you once again 🙏 The homestay is closed to Music restaurant and near the city center so it is well located. I recommend this place.

The localisation is perfect ! The place is clean, people who rent the place are super nice, there is a good restaurant in front, the garden is beautiful. Everything was perfect.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had such an amazing stay and truly can't recommend this place enough! From the moment I arrived, Ma'am and Sir made me feel like part of their family. They treated me like their own daughter, and I am so grateful for their incredible hospitality, kindness, and generosity. Their friend was also wonderful company, and spending time with all of them made my stay even more special. The room was absolutely amazing—spotlessly clean, cozy, comfortable, and equipped with everything I needed. Every little detail was thoughtfully taken care of, which made me feel right at home. The taxi service was also excellent. My journey was very safe and smooth, and the car was in excellent condition. I truly appreciated the care taken to ensure I traveled comfortably. Thank you all for making my stay so memorable. I will always remember your warmth and kindness, and I can't wait to come back. The old couple crazy

Easy check-in, easy to get to by tuk tuk, nice small garden area.

There is a strong smell coming from the toilet, a mix of mould and other smells. I’ve got asthma and it can be a struggle. I’d advise the owners to fix the issues as soon as they can as it could lower their rating.

Good place on the hills just outside Kandy.

Would be great if they had a water refill. Buying bottled water is too much plastic.

This is a lovely, simple room with a nice patio and great hosts. It was particularly handy that there was a tea kettle and dishware. There is only one unit, but it is separate from the family's home so it is very private. Note that the photos of the view are not from the patio, they are from the view point that is very close by.

Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war super. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und der Besitzer sehr freundlich.

We loved the location of this place, close to the Kandy viewpoint. There is a bar/restaurant opposite which has a lovely view across the town. The owner and staff were helpful, we enjoyed our stay.

J'ai été accueillie par une femme adorable avec café et petits gâteaux. Kandy est accessible à pieds (15min environ). La chambre est annexe à la maison, avec son accès. Elle est très propre. Le wifi est excellent. Il n'y a pas de climatisation, mais le ventilateur est suffisant.

Son mari m'a aidé à réserver un tuktuk pour aller à la gare le lendemain. Même si l'intention était appréciable, il était bien plus cher que les Pickme...

Stanza pulitissima, forse una delle migliori incontrate in tutta la vacanza. Posizione leggermente lontana dal centro, ma proprio per questo estremamente tranquilla e sicura. I proprietari super carini e disponibili.

Ci è dispiaciuto non poter disporre della colazione, ma d’altronde era specificato. La questione relativa alla posizione è un’arma a doppio taglio, visto che per tornare a casa o ci si affida a un tuk tuk o si affrontano 15 min in salita.

オーナーご夫婦には大変親切にしていただき、心温まる最高のホームステイになりました。ここでの1泊は、私のスリランカ旅行でとても印象深いものとなりました。 お部屋は清潔で、蚊帳もあったので、ぐっすり眠れました。立地もよく、キャンディ中心部や駅も近いです。到着時と翌朝に、美味しいウェルカムティーとモーニングティーも振る舞っていただきました。 偶然にも、オーナーの旦那様は、5年間日本で働いていらっしゃったそうで、日本の話で盛り上がりました。現在はタクシードライバーをされており、キャンディツアーも組んでいただけるようです。私は旅程上、ツアーはお願いできませんでしたが、アーユルヴェーダ薬局（Bowatte）まで徒歩で行くつもりと話したところ、一緒についてきてくださりました。おかげで交通量の多い中でも短時間でスムーズに到着することができました。キャンディ内での顔も広いようで、おすすめのお店も紹介してくださいました。 次回、キャンディに来たときは、この宿を利用し、ツアーもお願いしたいと思います。

La famiglia che ci ha accolto è molto gentile e disponibile, la stanza è pulita e confortevole. A disposizione tazzine e bollitore, te e zucchero. A piedi si raggiunge il lago con una breve passeggiata di 10 minuti.

Camera carina con tutti i comfort (tavolo, appendino, credenza, luce da letto etc), terrazza carina e comoda. A 10 minuti dal centro raggiungibile a piedi, ma abbastanza lontano per non soffrire del caos della città. Vicino al Kandy view point dove trovare molti tuk tuk. Ci hanno visitato in giardino delle innocue scimmie, è stato molto carino. Pulito e confortevole, c’era l’acqua calda

Peccato non ci sia vista sulla città ma per il resto tutto perfetto

the property was in a good location and relatively cheap. lovey lady working there.

the room was damp and mouldy, making me feel very ill for the duration of our stay. upali himself also consistently tried to sell us things persistently, even knocking on the door of our private room to do so. very uncomfortable experience, we didn’t want to stay in the room itself much. woken up very early with some construction or something on the last day which they apologised for.

Lovely, light and airy room with a great view of the courtyard and garden, and very refreshing breezes. Only a stone's throw from Kandy Viewpoint with more great views. The room had wonderful additions that you don't usually get at this price point in Sri Lanka, eg. Bedside reading lamps, a kettle and tea, real drinking glasses!!! The host gave me a cup of tea and snack on arrival. Heaps of power points. Finally, the hosts are really delightful people who are eager to make your stay special.

The walls were a bit thin, so I could often hear my hosts at night.

Upalis place was very beautiful and in a great location. The room was small but very cozy and had all the things necessary for a comfortable stay (3 nights). The bed has a mosquito net and the garden outside is the perfect place to cool off. No AC but the fan is positioned perfectly to keep you cool at night. The bathroom had a good hot shower, a bit of mould but not a huge issue. The location was the best part. Just down the road from Kandy Viewpoint which had the best views over the city & great place for sunsets. It’s a short walk to town (10min). And Margaret is a lovely lady who is super friendly and polite. She even brought us some rice cakes that she had made! If I was to come back to Kandy, I’d definitely book this place again!

We LOVED our stay here. The couple that runs the homestay are so sweet and kind. When we arrived we had tea, biscuits, crackers and great conversation. The accommodation felt very homely. We really recommend going to see the dance show that is only a 5 minute walk from the homestay. We definitely would stay again 😊🙏

Upalis place is a lovely place to stay in kandy! The location is very good, the room is clean, everything was perfect! Upali is the best taxi driver, cheap price, best places, funny man! And his wife is also one of the kindest people! Was a very nice experience! Thank you, stuthi!

We stayed at Upalis place for two night and it was super lovely! Only a 12 min walk downhill to the city centre:) it was a very cute place, super cozy, with a small terrace for you :) The couple that hosted us was super nice, explained what we could do while staying in kandy :) Would definitely stay here again, if I come back :)

Location was very good to walk to the viewpoint and to the city and lake, but be prepared to walk uphill. The family was very nice and offered to drive us down to the city on the first day.

At night it was not enjoyable to sit outside as there were bats flying through.

Only 2 minutes from Kandy view point and easy to visit many sightseeing places .

Margaret was wonderful and her husband too, great location and view with a great price.

Room is very comfortable and a very good shower. The host is a very funny man, had a good laugh and he can show you around the city in his retro taxi!

Upalis place has absolutely everything you need and more! It is super cozy, clean and comfortable and the hosts especially are so kind and friendly. Upali even took us for a walk through the city centre and arranged for us to attend the local show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dances which were very enjoyable. Will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Kandy!

The room is beautiful and comfortable. Super clean! You have mosquito repellent and tea!!! Outside the room you have a table with two chairs where you can sit and relax. The location is absolutely perfect!!! 100 meters from the Kandy view point and if you walk five more minutes you are already at the lake. The owners of the house are very very very very attentive and I will always keep them in my ♥️. They helped me to arrange a taxi to go Sri Pada Adam’s Peak and Mrs Margaret was the sweetest whit me, she prepared for me tea and Sri Lankan sweets and the day after she gave me food, she is absolutely the sweetest lady around the world! Thank you Mr. Upali and Mrs. Margaret ☺️

Upali's place is super comfortable, and the hosting couple, Upali and his wife, are very kind and caring people. Unfortunately I only spent two short nights there, but they made my stay very cozy and relaxing.

A blanket would have been necessary as it gets cold in the late night. there was only an extra bed sheet and i had to wear layers.

I was sick at my stay in Kandy, but the Host family was very Caring And assisted in any way possible, very grateful for their warm welcome in Kandy. I can only recommend the place for any weary traveller.

It was really good. The family is very, very nice. Even when I booked the wrong date, the problem was solved quickly. The father and daughter speak very good English. The accommodation is only 10 minutes from the city, very close to the Kandy View Point. There was hot water with very good water pressure, which is not a given in Sri Lanka. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. I was able to park my tuk tuk across the street, which was OK.

Our stay at Upalis was incredible. The room was spotless, with a new bathroom, hot water, and a strong shower. The bed was very comfortable, and the temperature was perfect—we didn’t even need a fan. The location is excellent, just a short drive from the train station, and Upalis himself offers taxi services and personalized tours (you can send him a message even before arrive the homestay, so he can help you with taxi service). He knows all the best spots in town and ensured we had an unforgettable experience, covering everything on our itinerary in just one day. The couple made us feel like family, even offering us food and drinks when we arrived late at night. (thanks for that!)

The room and bathroom were clean and spacious. Well located a short walk out of the city centre. The host family were very friendly and helpful.

WiFi was sporadic. The Restaurant across the road had loud music until very late at night. Take earplugs!

Actually place was really really good. Mr.Upali and his wife treated us not as their guests. They treated us as their family members. This place is near to the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Only 10min), Bogambara lake, Kandy City Centre, Kandy View Point and as well as many other places. The surrounding environment was eally good. We could see all around the Kandy from the Upali's place. We stayed two days there. Room was so comfortable. Bathroom was clean and tidy. Hot water also available in the bathroom. I would like to highly reccomend this place for others also. If you come, you can get a great experience here.And also thank you so much Mr.Upali and your wife (Uncle & Aunty) for your great hospitality and treats for us.
