iKyam (The Backpackers Hostel/Homestay)

The owner was super nice, it had all the facilities we wanted in a hostel, clean and tidy as well as well maintained room. We reached there at around 10-10:30, though couldn't stay much, the terrace/patio outside the room at night was amazing, we sat there untill 1:00 am and the vibes were chill. would definitely visit again. :)

Well nothing much other than we couldn't find the board games, it was already late night so we did not disturb the owner. also just a little bigger geyser would be plus, the hot water became cold even before i put it on myself since it was cold in Coorg. thats just a minor minor thing tho

I booked this property expecting an experience that matched its 9.4 rating on Booking.com, but I was severely disappointed. The reality is completely different from what is advertised. The photos online are highly deceptive, and the actual condition of the place is neither well-maintained nor clean. As a solo traveler, finding a reliable, comfortable place is a priority, and this property failed on all fronts. It is absolutely not worth the money being charged, and it is baffling how it maintains such a high rating on the platform. Save your money and look elsewhere.

It's nice place, clean, near to nature, peacefull, nice place to sit.

The double room was comfortable and the property was easily accessible. The owners were very friendly and good hosts, even though they were unable to be physically present. They ensured all amenities were available even during their absence.

Property has only 1 parking slot, but perhaps more vehicles can be parked on the nearby roads and alleyways.

Host (Anil) was very responsive and attentive, always making sure my stay was comfortable. He also gave me several recommendations on places to visit and eat it in the area.

Would've been great if chai/coffee and simple breakfast was available since the hostel is a little isolated and there aren't any food options immediately outside the hostel.

1. The hosts are very friendly and accomodating. 2. The place is clean and quiet, with appropriate rules and guardrails in place. 3. Location is about 1.5 km from the bus stand, therefore, it is peaceful yet convenient.

Everything was good about this place

Location and building were nice, it was in a quiet surrounding. The room was well equipped and comfortable, and Anil was a great host and was very helpful suggesting activities and helping to arrange tickets and transport.

The mattress was a little hard, but it was perfectly fine for me.

Property owners were amazing and very cooperative,. The place is really good options for all the back packers. It was excellently maintained and cleaned, all that within the budget.

There were no options to eat in/around the place, one would have to walk about atleast 1kms to grab food, no Swiggy zomato or public transportation either.. you only get it from market centre after 1/1.5 kms walk

Location was perfect. Though its just 5 mins to city centre, its still very peaceful.

The hosts were responsive whenever I told them about my needs, as and when they arose.

Some basic facilities were lacking in the room. No rod was there in the bathroom to hang clothes while bathing. No proper table nor chair was available.

Property is well maintained and clean.. Atmosphere is very good.. Owner Anil is a nice person.. Also it’s very safe

The stay is located at prefect spot. Views from the homestay and the common area is amazing, and is very neatly maintained. The host was very helpful, kind and supportive. Highly recommended for a peaceful and good experience when in coorg.

I enjoyed my stay at Ikyam so much! First of all the room and the whole hostel was really clean and well maintained, situated in a quiet area. Furthermore Anil is a really caring and helpful person, just a good soul. He cared for me while having a cold and offered me a tour with him to some waterfalls and to a beautiful viewpoint because I was not able to find a group for the jeep tour in Madikeri as a solo traveller. I had really good talks with him and was even invited to breakfast at his and his wife's home. If you are in Madikeri, please stay here, it is a wonderful expierence! 😊

It was more than just a hostel for me, I felt as I would be visiting family. Anil and Anusha welcomed me extremely kindly. Helped me to organise better my stay in the zone and showed me amazing places. They helped me to see more than just the touristic part, for which I am very grateful. If you are looking to discover Madikeri region in a deeper level and meet amazing, warm people, IKyam is a must! Felt very safe as female traveler, breakfast was incredible and the facilities were great

Lovely place to stay with a very friendly and helpful couple who were full of great travel tips and recommendations. We spent a morning hiking together and I paid for an extra herbal spa treatment which was a luxury bonus. Great location right on the edge of town too. A local breakfast was provided each morning too which was very tasty. I'd thoroughly recommend.

Anil and Anusha made me feel very welcome and their hospitality is incredible! They helped me organize trips around the area and even took me on a tour to a beautiful mountain. Initially I only wanted to stay one night but I kept extending my stay because the atmosphere was so nice! You should also try the aryuvedic treatments in Anusha's practice - you will feel amazing afterwards:)

Anil and his wife were so welcoming and helpful. They would respond immediately and make sure we were comfortable. He helped us get a cab for our trip around and outside the city and gave us so much good food and coffee ! The room was simple but nice and very clean. The water was the hotter we got during our long stay in India. The house is located in a calm area, not too far from the center. You won’t regret staying with such nice people ! Don’t hesitate Thank you to you both :)

The host, Anil is the one of the best I have ever come across. He is professional, polite and gives great suggestions to explore Coorg. Location is very near to Kings seat and many major attractions. Breakfast they offer is homemade and it's delicious. About the dorm, it met all my expectations and all basic amenities were available. The terrace just outside the dorm is really cool.

The place is cozy nd it feels like home. It's extremely pretty 😍

They didn't let us do an early check in they could have given a dorm to refresh but they didn't think of it as the room was already occupied. It's fine what else can be done.

Hosts were sweet and accommodating. Homemade breakfast won our hearts! Very well maintained. Overall a pleasant stay :)

Rooms and Wash rooms are clean and well maintained. Homely atmosphere. Caretakers are very helpful. Highly recommended for staying in Madikeri town.

Location is little difficult to find if you are new to Madikeri but owners will help to find out .

The rooftop was super nice to chill. The dorm room is big enough to have personal space, plus you have curtains on bed which is a plus. The owners are very nice and helpful. And the food they provide is delicious. The breakfast options changes everyday which is nice.

The Hosts (Anil & his family) were warm and happy to help. I loved the home made breakfast and the comfort they bring. I wish I could have extended my stay over there. They have maintained a beautiful terrace with garden and a party room like setup. It looks beautiful being next to the mountains around and the peaceful nature.

Lovely place to stay. It's around 1.5km from the bus stand. The owner of this homestay is so kind and indulgent. The breakfast they provide is too good. Especially the ambience from the turf is wonderful. There are 2 rooms where one is dormitory having 6 beds and other room is for couples. The rooms are clean and washrooms are very tidy. You have to carry your own toiletries and towel with you.
