Sungate on Salt Spring - Luxurious Suite with Cedar Hot Tub & View

Sungate is in a great location, not far from the hustle and bustle of Ganges. The suites a beautifully decorated with high quality finishes throughout. It’s clear the owners put a lot of care and attention into their design. The kitchenette is fully outfitted with a delicious fresh roasted coffee, endless snacks and homemade granola to boot. Also there are chickens to feed - and who doesn’t love that?

There was a tiny hiccup with the cleanliness on arrival (some unswept up crumbs) but the owners handled it with peak professionalism. Again, it’s very clear the owners want to deliver a high level experience and they did.

Perfect for relaxing and recharging . The unit was stocked with everything we needed and the hosts are lovely. We used the cedar hot tub first thing in the morning and in the evening after our day’s activities.

Located in the midst of a forest. The guys who host it are very friendly. The clothing optional Japanese style hot tub is accessible 24 hours and is situated in a clearing surrounded by tall trees. At night it was particularly beautiful and relaxing. Only two rental units so very private and quiet. As a gay couple we were warmly welcomed.

The only suggestion I had was it would be nice to have a full length mirror.

Perfect location for Salt Spring Island! Close from the Sea Plane and the little town where people huddle for food and shopping.

The room was clean and well stocked. We really appreciated the snacks after a long trip in. The hot tub was also a really amazing amenity.

This was an amazingly gorgeous property! The room was modern, clean and had everything we needed to make the visit exceptional. The bed was very comfortable and the robes and crocs made visits to hot tub easy and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub in the forest so much and liked feeding the chickens on the way.

Pictures made it look much bigger than it actually was. Hot tub was a bit of a walk up a pathway which is difficult for anyone with any mobility issues

We stayed in the couples suite. The a/c worked well, the privacy curtains were great, the kitchenette was well stocked, the number of towels, robes, crocs, & extra blankets was great, the bed and pillows were comfy, we loved the onsen, outdoor shower & the back porch. The hens are so cute, & the garden was lovely.

The mosquitos were in full swing since it is midsummer, but we had citronella candles & the wonderful host brought us a lighter and then they weren’t so bad. Being so close to the beautiful forest is worth it!

We love the attention to detail for our comfort during the stay. The place and facilities are absolutely amazing, and we are already talking about going back for another relaxing vacation.

It would be great to have a gate or sign before the onsen so people can know if someone else is using it to avoid awkward situations. Also, a handrail for the path toward the onsen would be great for people with limited mobility

for doggy ppl, the area doesn't have much dog walking area at night due to close proximity to traffic/road. vehicles at night drive quite fast past the property, not too safe to walk dog at night. other than that, it was great

The owners were very accommodating as my partner and I wanted to check in a bit early. It was clean, cozy, and comfortable for after soccer.

The set up and space was nice. Snacks, drinks, and breakfast options were great!

This is an exceptional property. The room was so thoughtfully put together, and the onsen tub was just magical. We fed the chickens on the way to a soak. Everything was modern, clean, and lovely. Light snacks and breakfast food were available in the room. If we needed anything, it was done quickly. A very respectful and kind host, too!!

I loved this place!! I was a tiny bit warm, but a gorgeous fan was provided promptly. I have zero complaints.

Breakfast consisted of one package of bundled goods: excellent granola and a good supply of milk. The coffee makings were efficient.

Despite a request for replenishment of supplies and a three hour vacant period to do so, no service was given. Dirty cups, dishes and cutlery piled up in an area short of space. No replenishment, particularly of milk was done.

The lay out was lovely. The hot tub and the onsen was gorgeous trip up the hill past the chickens. Very lovely view and felt secluded and private.

This property shows pride of ownership. The attention to details was outstanding both inside the accommodation and outside on the property. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed the amenities.

Beautiful setting among trees and nature. Owners have created a beautiful oasis with lots of areas to explore and enjoy. Loved feeding the chickens, relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying the well appointed, spacious suite.

My sister in law found it difficult to figure out the coffee maker in regards to how much coffee to use

The breakfast was a bit simple for a B&B but not a deal breaker as there were so many breakfast options close by.

There isn’t really a breakfast. There wasnt enough milk for cereal and coffee and only supplies for 1 night although we were there for 3. No way to contact hosts. We didn’t see them till we were leaving. No cell phone reception.

Everything! From the booking process to the end it was fantastic. The hosts are so kind, welcoming, and helpful and make sure you have everything you need to have a wonderful stay. The room was spacious, clean, and modern and a beautiful bathroom. The bed was comfortable, hot tub with stunning views, snacks/breakfast food provided, and only a 5 minute drive from Ganges. Highly recommend!

The only thing was that the AC didn't work- didn't think we'd need it but after having the heat on during the day it was a bit too hot at night 😅 not a major issue though.

The detailed suites were planned perfectly well. The location provides privacy and quiet, yet it is very close to the town and all amenities. The warm hospitality of David and Steve is fantastic.

The cottage is lovely and we love, love, love the onsen! Feeding the chickens is always fun, too!

The cabin was spacious and well stocked. The breakfast included local granola which was amazing. The walking trail out the door of the cabin was a pleasant walk and the hot tub was perfect for relaxing. It was easy to check-in and I would go back to this place again.

We loved or 2 night stay here. There are so many thoughtful features on the property, the suite is well provisioned with kitchen supplies (tea, coffee, breakfast fixings), and we appreciated the hot tub after a day of hiking and touring. The property has numerous quiet places sit, enjoy the garden or just contemplate on the deck.

The best stay we’ve had ! The amenities, the onsen, the location - everything was perfect 🫶🏻 lovey little touches with the seasonal pumpkins and popcorn will be highly recommending this place to everyone !

The temperature was comfortable The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was immaculately clean. The towels were very soft. The coffee was great. The chocolate treat was yummy. Overall the attention to detail was superb. I loved the chickens! The onsen was something else... would recommend to others.

We were greated on arrival by David who was both friendly and welcoming. The suite was clean, stylish and comfortable. Although we did not use them, the selection of breakfast options was impressive. The onsen, which is tucked in between the trees, was a surreal experience and was the perfect way to end the day. Feeding the chickens in the morning brought a smile. We enjoyed our stay here.

Access to the hot tub was my only issue as it was a bit steep and uphill and slippery because of the rain

Our suite (Number Two) was clean and well laid out and included thoughtful touches such as bath robes, various beverages, and breakfast foods. The bed was comfortable, the towels and linens were clean and soft, and the TV and sound system were excellent. The highlight of course was the cedar tub/onsen which was perfectly warm and such a delight to soak in after a long day. Oh, and go and see the chickens. Easy to locate and a short drive from the Long Harbour ferry terminal. Would definitely stay here again!

Hosts have anticipated every need of their guests! I’ve never had so many thoughtful amenities provided by any accommodation. No words to describe how perfect and magical this location is! Comfy bed, incredible shower, relaxing soaking pool and lovely indoor and outdoor eating spaces. Thank you! We will be back!

Pictures don’t do this place justice ! Incredible setting and design, in harmony with nature. If you need to escape the city and de-stress this is it. We loved the cedar onsen, sun garden, and thoughtful touches (snacks, drinks, coffee).

We loved the gardens, location, private cabin with adjoining patios and Japanese-themed hot tub in the forest. The room and fridge was stocked with everything you could need or want. The hosts were so kind and accomodating.

Steve and David were excellent hosts, very friendly and helpful but careful to give us complete privacy. The suite was lovely, clean and well designed with great attention to detail.

The bed was very comfortable! The bathroom was really nicely renovated -- loved the heated floor, the separate WC and the spacious shower, faucets and seat. Tasteful light fixtures throughout; super window coverings and the furniture was stylish and comfortable. The On Sen tub was wonderful -- spacious, great view of the mountains, easy to access, wonderfully designed outdoor shower hut.

We booked 7mths in advance; unfortunately, it was not made clear that the name change which took place several months prior to our arrival meant that the hosts wld no longer be providing breakfast.

The hot tub was fantastic, loved the cold plunge, the fire pit, the beautiful chickens, lots of good snacks and a very comfy bed. Couldn't ask for more.

An exceptional experience at a peaceful, beautiful and well appointed property. Sungate is the perfect spot to unwind and relax. The hosts are fantastic people who couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was everything and more than expected. The onsen - Japanese style hot tub experience - is incredible and the cold plunge is great if you're game. The suite had everything one could need and the location was great; just five minutes away from Ganges.

The bed in the pull-out-couch was not great for two adults to share if you were looking at this for 4 adults!

Clean, comfortable bed, quiet, private, nice bathroom and bulk toiletry items from the local refillery. Self -streaming options on the tv worked well. Well equipped kitchenette

Breakfast offerings were very disappointing. Other than a small jar of home made granola and milk, the other breakfast items were pop tarts, instant oatmeal and mini boxed dry cereals. No fruit, no yogurt or bread or muffins, no jam or eggs. For the price per night I did expect more supplies for breakfast. Perhaps don't call it a B& Breakfast or list what is offered so people can come with their own food or choose a different place to stay.

Absolutely everything! We have traveled right across Canada and it’s the best stay we have had the pleasure and privilege to experience. This place is exquisite. The attention to detail, from the furnishings to the facilities, hot tub especially, is amazing. The lodge was immaculate and very comfortable, with thoughtful touches everywhere. From the fridge full of goodies to the toiletries and guests book. The owners/ hosts are so friendly and helpful. It definitely got our vote as the perfect stay.
